On December 23, I called Adrian's bakery at approximately 9:55 AM and asked if they had any carrot cakes or red velvet cakes made. I was told they did not, but they could make me one of each. I agreed, and they told me I could pick them up the next morning. Before the end of the business day on the 23rd, I received a call asking me to wait until after 12 o'clock because they weren't able to make the cakes on the 23rd. I agreed to wait. I planned to pick up the cakes at 12:45, but I received another call at 10:30, which I couldn't answer at the time. I called them back at 10:45, and no one seemed to know why I received the call. I mentioned the two cakes, but they didn't seem to know what I was referring to. I assumed it might be someone at the counter who wasn't familiar with the orders, so I inquired about the status of my cakes. I was told to pick them up around 12:30. I arrived at 1:00 PM, but no one seemed to know about my cakes. A gentleman came out of the back after they called him, and he asked me to come back at 2 o'clock because the cakes were cooling and needed to be iced. I agreed, but I was initially told they would be ready by 12:30. I returned at 2:30, but the cakes were still not ready. I asked if at least one of them was ready, and I was told to come back at 3 o'clock. I returned at 3:15, but the cake was still not ready, and the person who needed to ice them was not there. The staff at the register told me I had to be understanding that they were busy and it was the holidays, with an attitude that implied I was being annoying. When I finally received my cake after 4 o'clock, I was treated unprofessionally by the staff, with no apologies. They also charged me $5 more than the quoted price of $25. When I asked why, I was told that they didn't know who I spoke to or why I was quoted that price. I believe that employees should be aware of the prices and have proper customer service skills. I was disappointed in the service and unprofessionalism I experienced. I had not had this experience at other bakeries. I had promised Children's Hospital that I would bring these cakes, and I was glad I could finally fulfill that promise, despite the poor service.
