The 38 Best Orange County Restaurants | Eater LA

"Chef Shachi Mehra combines her Jersey roots and Indian heritage to create a tangy goat cheese-filled naan. The new RFC sandwich combines flavors of a popular Rajasthani snack, which acts as a coating for crispy fried chicken served inside a custom bun made by Dean Kim’s OC Baking Company. Mehra’s inventiveness garnered her a win on Food Network’s Chopped. Meanwhile, her chef-partner, Sandeep Basrur, combines his background in traditional authentic Indian cooking to prepare classics such as a yellow shrimp coconut curry, dal makhani, and creamy cucumber raita." - Jenn Tanaka

We are visiting from FL and stopped by Adya on Thursday evening. Got the chicken Naanwich and burrito (forgot the name). The best indian food I've tasted! In fact it was so good, we just came back again today and my husband ordered a chicken tandoori 😁 Great location and service.

Hosh

Google
Great Indian fusion offering a variety of Indian flavors and spices that are easily adopted and liked by everyone's pallets! The service is wonderful, quick and effortless! Loads of place to sit and eat or take it to go. They also have food pick up service though doordash, ubereats and grubhub. I highly recommend giving them a shot!

Google
I've tried most restaurants at the packing district, but not all - and I'm finding it difficult to finish, because I only ever want to eat at Adya. Tucked away in the corner, this quick counter service spot serves up incredibly flavorful dishes. Their curries, biryani, tandoori and fusion offerings are great. Especially be on the lookout for their specials. I had a pav bhaji once that was excellent. I also love that you can watch them cook in the tandoor ovens. It's just a fun and delicious experience overall that you'd do well not to miss.

Google
Delicious Indian food! I ordered the Paneer Masala with Tofu. Perfect amount of spice. It came with basmati rice. I also ordered the Garlic Naan! Perfect for dipping with the sauce.

Joe R.

Google
Pretty good food, I got the chicken tikka masala burrito. Flavorful, but mainly rice. Their Indian hot sauce was decent too. Garlic naan was really good 4.50$ for two pieces.

Rosemari M.

Google
The chicken tikki masala is the best item on the menu! Try that! The rice would have been tastier with some more spice and heat.

Google
Among the many eateries inside the Anaheim Packing District, I chose Adaya, as it had been a while since I last had Indian food. The vibrant wall posters and the image of the chef stirred my craving for something flavorful. However, my choice of Chicken Tikka Masala felt like it was missing something, and the naan didn't quite meet my expectations. On a positive note, the masala tea was enjoyable.

Asma A.

Google
This spot is located within the Packing House and easy to miss if you don’t cover every corner. The two items we tried were both excellent. On the menu, the Lamb Biryani and Malai Chicken are Halal but there are so many vegetarian and seafood options the difficulty is only what to choose.

Yelp
Been to the packing house many times and first time trying Adya. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, garlic naan, and Lamb Biryani. It was good! I would definitely eat here again. Coming back for the Chicken Tika Masala The main complaint here, it is a little pricey, but most restaurants are at the Packing District.

Yelp
Came here last night when the original plan was to come to Healthy Junk at the Anaheim Packing House, not realizing they had permanently closed! My friend and I walked around in search for some vegan food for me. Luckily, this spot stood out to me as having some cute decor and I figured, Indian food must have vegan options! I was pleasantly surprised to see the menu had labeled its vegan options, but the item that seemed most intriguing to me was labeled as vegetarian, not vegan! This item was the Chana masala burrito, which sounded so unique to me, especially since I love fusion food! I decided to inquire while my friend was placing her order to see if it could be made vegan. I was excited to learn, that it could be veganized, although the employees said that it would taste more bland. My friend and I took a seat at the counter, which was designated for customers only. The seating was comfortable and spacious. Our order was ready very quickly, but not too quickly that would make me question the quality! The burrito had a lovely texture and flavor and the tortilla really sopped up the flavors of the curry. It was creamy and luscious and had a great kick to it! They had added some hot sauce and tamarind sauce which really balanced out the flavors well. There is a lot, but it was filled up when we arrived. Thankfully, there was street parking in the neighborhood, although I had to drive around a couple of times to find a spot! I would definitely return when in the area.

Yelp
I've personally never had good food at the packing district and tonight did not disappoint. I thought Indian food sounded great but I was shocked at how bad the lamb curry was. It was about a 20+ minute wait. There was nothing remarkable about the dish. It was watery, had very little lamb, the lamb was rather gamey, flavor was not strong at all, and the rice was overly dry. Would not ever recommend. It's also very loud (when they have DJs) and you can barely hear anyone.
google avatar

Ellie N.

Yelp
Good food with good prices inside Anaheim packing district. Black lentils are great, very tasty and rich, but it's too rich/too much carb when served with rice.
google avatar

Teagan T.

Yelp
My only regret: having paid for this meal with money I don't have but hunger is a great seasoning. Got me through half the paneer burrito and scouring through the other half for paneer where the sauce hadn't ruined the rice carrying too much texture. Samosa chaat were small and sad. The chaat part was too saucy for camera. But not bad samosas. The guy taking the lunch break was eating 3 fluffy pancakes.. I couldn't stop eyeing them until there was no more paneer in my burrito. Naanwich looked like a better choice. From what I heard the lamb was good kebab.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
I didn't hate my meal- but I definitely didn't love it. Overall I feel it lacked flavor. ADYA is located in the Packing House. It was our first time there so me and my fam did a walk through of the whole place. There are so many choices!! We all got din from different restaurants, such a fun concept. I went with ADYA because I love paneer masala and when I saw they had a paneer masala burrito I thought that was so unique and had to try it. The burrito comes with paneer masala, basmati rice, lentils, and mint chutney (although it was mostly rice). There was an option to add on a side of masala sauce for $2 and I did because I'm a sauce girly. Sauce already comes in the burrito but I was glad I got the side because it was dry as is. The burrito was big enough to make me full but I think someone with a bigger appetite would still be hungry. I got a cup of water and it was a very small paper cup. Other restaurants my fam tried gave out large glasses of water. I haven't eaten at a restaurant without checking Yelp reviews in years and wanted to be spontaneous so I went with what I thought looked good. If I saw the reviews I'm not sure if I would have ordered ADYA, but no regrets!

Yelp
Wow! That goat cheese garlic naan was freakin fire!!! What a hit! I like naan, but I've never had naan like this! Mind blown!!! The goat cheese stuffed inside just added a whole new level. It was creamy and cheesy! The naan was so fresh and warm. I would definitely order this again. Service was good. They were kind and friendly. Ambiance is causal, walk up and order. There are tables and chairs nearby.
google avatar

Yelp
Walking around the Anaheim Packing House, we looked for something different to sample. Came across ADYA, by the winner of Chopped, and saw some fusion items that looked interesting. Labeled as an Indian-Mex, the chicken tikka masala burrito caught my attention. Also got a garlic naan ... because I love naan. The burrito was filled mainly with rice, I'd say about 3/4, and it was bland. When I did bite into the chicken, the flavor was so mild, I felt the frozen Indian foods from Trader Joe's had better, bolder flavor. The garlic naan was very average. It needed a pinch of salt as it was also bland, I've had better. Luckily I asked for one of their spicy sauces which helped gave everything some flavor. The service and friendliness from the guy that helped us was pretty good. The food was not. Luckily, we didn't order more so we have room to sample other foods around the Packing House. There are public tables around nearby. If those are all taken. AFYA has some counter seating facing their 'kitchen'. If you do eat here, don't expect bold spicy flavors that indicative of Indian cuisine. I feel this is a very toned down version of it.

Yelp
Found the packing district on accident. Just in the area for a trip to Disneyland. Thought the district would give me plenty of options for dinner. So I chose Adya Indian food. Had the Chicken Nannwich. It was delicious! Wish it came with a small side dish of some sort but the sandwich was really good!!
google avatar

Ana B.

Yelp
The food was good, however, the burrito was a little bland. The lamb over rice was good but I got the spicy and it was spicy! A little pricey. The service was quick. The staff was friendly and it was nice to sit in the open area in the Packing House.
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
Great drinks! We had gulab jamun which was good 7.5/10 The chai's were tasty! 8.5/10 Mango lassi 7/10 Service was perfect! Fast and attentive. Located in packing house ample seating I think it's a good grab and go item
google avatar

Maya N.

Yelp
My favorite spot at Anaheim Packing District. The pani puri is crisp with well balanced flavors. I will buy this every time. The goat cheese naan is very unique and delicious (especially if you already love goat cheese, like me). Service is always great because everyone there is very nice. I went on a Sunday night and did not wait long. I like the free cucumber water they give, and my favorite dishes are their saag paneer and tikka masala.
google avatar

Paul B.

Yelp
Ordered the Saag Paneer with Garlic Naan. $25 (including tax). The portion was fairly small for the price, but it had a good flavor. The rice was plain with a bit of cinnamon thrown in. The naan was fine. The service was okay. Not super friendly but not bad either. Wouldn't be totally against trying something else, but for the price I expect a bit more.
google avatar

Debra K.

Yelp
This is the spot I ended up after browsing all the other options at the packing house. Glad I did!!!!! I was drawn in because of the smells. I had the special of the day and added the garlic naan bread. So glad I added that naan!!!! It was pretty fast service, too.
google avatar

Benjamin C.

Yelp
I don't know much about indian cuisine and was skeptical because of some of the reviews. The plate was good overall. I ordered the chicken tandoori one of their most popular dishes here. The chicken was flavorful with a little spicy very delicious , the rice was a bit too acidic for my taste but wasn't bad at all & the salad was great im not sure why others complained. Definitely would try this place again
google avatar

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
This place was okay overall. The samosas were on the smaller side but had plenty of chutney, which was tasty. The chicken biryani was flavorful and definitely the best dish out of the two. However, the real star of the meal was the garlic naan - it was absolutely delicious! The food is prepared fresh so there is a bit of a wait.
google avatar

Cecille L.

Yelp
They had us at Tilki Masala BURRITO! It's tasty, humongous and spicy! It's the first and BEST burrito of this kind and we loved it! I ordered a samosa chat and it's spicy too (in my opinion) but very flavor-able and filling. Both items are very good and I would definitely order the same items next time I visit.

Sean C.

Yelp
Chicken Tikka Masala was sooo bland. It honestly reminded me of the Trader Joe's microwaveable meal. I asked for salt and they definitely got a little offended by that. Garlic Naan was pretty good. But for the price this a full miss.
google avatar

Mimi S.

Yelp
One star for the nice guy at the counter but no stars for the tandoori chicken and rice I had. The rice tasted like straight up lemon juice with no salt or any other flavor. The chicken had no flavor except for a mild hint of spice. Overall, I would not return nor recommend this place.
google avatar

Jennifer A.

Yelp
The place was at very corner of the Food court inside packing district and I came here because of their bread... It was good as the first time I tried in Philadelphia. I gave 3 stars because of the service was too slow. The server told me its just 5 minutes but it took me almost 15 minutes, just for one bread and a cup of dipping sauce. The place was small but its clean.
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
really wasn't anything special...pretty overpriced and bland. workers were nice though!
google avatar

Karla L.

Yelp
GREAT PLACE!!!! The cardamom chai was to die for. I took one sip and was in heaven (much so that I plan on going back for more tomorrow. I ordered the lamb curry, it wasn't as creamy as I had expected it to be but it was still delicious! The service was great and quick which was also nice. Definitely stop by if you get a the chance!!!
google avatar

Andrea A.

Yelp
Ordered the garlic Naan, samosa app, and tikka masala. The tikka masala is supposed to be a "best seller" dish according to the menu, but that must be incorrect. It was lackluster with no flavor, watery sauce in taste and consistency, and in desperate need of adjusting to make it edible. Threw it away after a few bites. The samosa chaat was delicious and saved this review from getting a lower rating. Garlic Naan was subpar. Very disappointed overall. If had read reviews beforehand, I wouldn't have come here.

MaryJane P.

Yelp
Watery curry. Bland. No consideration of presentation. Overpriced. I should've known better than to eat somewhere without checking reviews first(especially for a place that puts a "modern/contemporary" spin on the recipe). And they were right, this place is overpriced. $25 for a measly amount of curry and naan. For less money I've gotten more food and with better flavor at other Indian restaurants. The naan was burnt on the bottom too, rendering it nearly inedible. I don't expect for all restaurants to always have the best tasting food, but I'm disappointed when I pay more for what the food is really worth. Side note: for a restaurant that claims to care about "sustainability", as mentioned on their website: "The menu revolves around fresh, sustainable ingredients and focuses on contemporary interpretations", their throwaway only "plates" seem to suggest otherwise.
google avatar

Salina S.

Yelp
Good customer service and the sandwich was very good and flavorful! Was scared by a lot of the negative reviews but would definitely return!
google avatar

Leilani M.

Yelp
Executive Chef Shachi Mehra was the winner on the tv show Chopped. I've watched that show and so excited to visit this location. When you enter from the valet parking lot it's located on the second floor, back right corner opposite of the main entrance doors. Great service and you get to watch them in action. Tandoori ovens and skewers lined with the cooked meats served fresh. There's bar seating on the side counter for customers and their signature hot sauce stares at you. Taunting you to get a bottle and feel the burn. Full of flavor! These veggie samosas packed a bright punch. It has the traditional dipping sauce flavors all combined into one. Making these parcels the perfect bite.
google avatar

Janelle R.

Yelp
Absolutely mid Chicken tikka masala. $20 to get rice and chicken with some unspiced tomato sauce. Mind you - for the price you don't even get naan bread or a drink just the bare minimum of food. Save your money and eat somewhere else. If you really want this meal go get a trader joe's frozen meal version of this - at least that has more flavor. 1/5.
google avatar

Sagruilla P.

Yelp
This was disappointing. The burrito was almost all rice--dry rice. There was barely any sauce or lentils. I got excited whenever I saw a piece of paneer so I could have something to eat. As I bit into the burrito a bunch of rice just fell out, and it continued with each bite. It was flavorless and sad. Out of all the places to choose, I made a bad choice. If I had to return, I would order the samosa cholle, but I have a neighborhood place with solid chaat options, and I wanted something new. I do appreciate the menu items clearly marked as vegan and vegetarian.
google avatar

Lizelle P.

Yelp
Ordered a few things from the menu via delivery so I am not reviewing the ambience or the service. I ordered the Pani puri which was delicious. The sev puri was good too although I prefer and expected flattened puris rather than the puffed ones. The samosa chaat was my least fave dish. It had yogurt which was very sour. The Gulab jamuns were cute and tasty. However there was a sprinkling of something on top which looked like pistachios so not great for nut allergies. The food was good but I have had better especially for their prices.
google avatar

Anita C.

Yelp
Wow! So much flavor! The sev puri was a bit sour and needed a touch more tamarind sauce but it was still so good and crunchy! The Chana masala was so flavorful and mild in heat. The tandoori was a little spicy-er but still not too much! The rice with the chicken was a little too much lemon! Finally the goat cheese naan was soooo creamy and soft! Highly recommend
google avatar

Gary W.

Yelp
Absolutely rubbish. The chicken tikka looked like something you'd find in a kennel rather than a kitchen. It was a sad, orange slop that had all the appeal of week-old leftovers. The naan was a travesty--burnt to a crisp and weirdly damp. And the so-called "rice" was clumpy and undercooked. To top it all off, there was a bottle of Windex sitting next to the arugula. I can't decide if it's a new garnish or just another hint that they don't care about hygiene. If you want authentic Indian cuisine, do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from here. There are plenty of better options here in OC.
google avatar

Fortuna N.

Yelp
I don't know why people are hating on this place for the price to food ratio. Their food is BOMB! I love trying new Indian food and so glad I stumbled upon Adya inside Anaheim Packing District. They specialize in modern Indian food. We only got one thing off their menu since we wanted to try different foods within the food hall but I would come back here again to try more of their items! 5/5: Keema Pav - This is their spiced minced lamb slider that came with pink pickled onions and a green sauce. The potato bun was warm and soft with a lightly sweet flavor that reminded me of brioche bun. The spiced minced lamb meat was DELICIOUS. It's like a sloppy Joe texture with big chunks of minced lamb packed flavor with the spices. This was not as spicy for the people that can't do spice. We gobbled it up fast. The price was around $11ish with tax and was very reasonable priced. Maybe if they added a small side and charged $15-16 people would stop complaining about the portion to sizes? Of course you're not filled after this but I thought it was decent price for the quality of flavor you get. That's why you gotta order more to try on the menu.
google avatar

Alexander Z.

Yelp
I think this place is so popular more because of the location than the food and prices. The service is fine and the ambiance is great, always love the nicely decorated seating areas around the place. The Lamb Biryani I had was actually quite good, but the reason this review isn't 5 stars is that it's just too pricey for too little. I was expecting more toppings for $20, some veggies, a salad, but I got exactly lamb and biryani. Even if it tastes good, I can't justify coming here again when there are plenty of other Indian places with much better prices.
google avatar

Ryan T.

Yelp
Wow food was delicious the tandoori Chicken & chicken biryanis was delicious. If you're in the mood for Indian food this place does not disappoint. It's in packing district so it's get crowded on weekends. Perfect crowd for the deliciousness's of food
google avatar

Dom D.

Yelp
The heavy set guy at the register was just depressing. No one behind me to order but such in a hurry to take my order that I couldn't even order everything I wanted to order. Which is a good thing because I waited to taste my food before this review and wow, BLAND. Most bland food I've ever tasted. Also, just watch everyone and how dirty they are with their gloves. The guy cutting the naan wiped the counter with his gloves (not a rag) then through the naan on the counter cut it and wrapped in foil. Wiped his hand on his shirt, touched everything with his gloves, just so unsanitary. Service 0/5 Food 1/5 Cleanliness 0/5 How is this place even open? And based on the other reviews, it looks like everyone's had a similar experience. My family went to the Kroft downstairs and ordered and got their food before I even got mine and it was dead so not sure why they take forever to get their bland food out. Need lots of improvement, I don't see them in business for long.
google avatar

Angela Q.

Yelp
Has the right amount of spicy. It's so good. The staff was especially friendly. Didn't take too long to get the food after I order.
google avatar

Oscar Daniel R.

Yelp
First time eating here and I was not dissatisfied. My only complaint is the size of their drinks were far too small for my liking , not cold enough, and pricey. I would also recommend to provide the drinks along with the food when it's ready together. Their mango lassi was tasty but I would not order it again. Their water cups provided were also very small. The ambiance and vibe was chill while ordering but could have been friendlier. I would consider returning. The food was perfectly seasoned and not overwhelmingly spicy.
google avatar

Kat F.

Yelp
TL;DR - flavorful and delicious Indian food; quality ingredients and clean. Located on the second floor of the Anaheim Packing House, it's a must try. Had the tandoori chicken and made it thali combo, which added salad, yogurt sauce, naan, and lentils. The lentils! So delicious. Also had the chicken tikka masala... tons of flavor and lots of chicken!
google avatar

Chad K.

Yelp
It was aight. I got the CTM Burrito (chicken tikka masala). Chicken was a little dry, a little bland, and the burrito was about 85% white rice. I know I shouldn't have been expecting a lot out of a burrito at an Indian restaurant, but some small changes and it could have been a winner. The mango mint lassi was pretty good and our friends got a lentil and naan dish, and that was also very tasty. Perhaps some of the other Tandoori and biryani items were better. Service was friendly and our food came out relatively quickly.
google avatar

Nikki B.

Yelp
The service is good enough. They're friendly and patient. The food comes out pretty fast and it's fresh, so that's always a plus. This place is in the Packing House, so it can get pretty busy on the weekends. The curry is pretty good. There's definitely a lot of sauce and not much meat, so very typical of Indian places. The price and value you get isn't great, but it's in the location itnis, so you kind of just accept it. It's definitely one of the better spots at the Packing House, so I do recommend this place. I haven't tried anything except their curries, so I am pretty pleased with this place. If you want an Indian recommendation around this place, check out my other reviews. I don't want to take away from this place, so definitely try it out.
google avatar

Laurra H.

Yelp
At the corner of packing house. Think mall food court, order while your friend finds a table for you guys to sit. Tasty lamb biryani. Came with yogurt sauce and a light green sauce. Staff was very helpful and patient in explaining about the different dishes. Ambiance is very casual. Its fun to see them cooking through the glass.
google avatar

Molly E.

Yelp
I really enjoyed dinner from here tonight! The staff was really helpful in describing to me what was and was not vegan. I opted for the vegan thali which included the Curry of the day (a cauliflower dish) and Chana masala. Both were delicious! I also loved the salad, roti and chutney that the entrée came with. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Taryn I.

Yelp
Adya is located in the cute Anaheim Packing House. They had a bunch of different options and even some info-Chinese fusion. My favorite part of the meal was the fresh garlic naan. And my friends liked the paneer burrito. The tika masala had a stronger tomato base than what I'm used too and wasnt super creamy. Overall it was a good place to try, I think I would go to a different place in the packing house the next time I come.
google avatar

Yelp
Not great... unlikely I'd come again. Packing House and the business was not excessively busy. No wait at the reg when I walked up. I browsed the menu and everything looked awesome. I decided on the Lamb Seekh Kebab and added Garlic Naan. After tax and tip, $27/$28 I ordered around 8 and at 8:25 my buzzer let me know the food was ready. 25 mins... is a pretty long time. BUT, if it's made fresh, totally worth the wait. The quantity of food was a bit disappointing. Again, just under $30... Everything smelled great when I walked my food to the table, but when sat down and took a bite: cold rice, cold lamb. The NAAN was pipping hot. But why would the food be dead ass cold? Incredibly disappointing. The flavor profile was pretty solid. But it was almost $30 and it was cold. I almost took it back but I hate throwing away food. It's also disappointing that this place, like many many others, leaves room on the receipt for a service tip when there is no service! I don't get it, just make your prices higher and be upfront about how much things are going to cost. Incredibly frustrating. Pretty big let down for a few reasons.
google avatar

Jayz P.

Yelp
I ate prior to coming into The Packing District. Why, you ask? That way I can carefully choose what I wanted to eat. After wandering around this beautiful building. I stopped at ADYA. Prices were pocket friendly and they had small bites. I chose the pani puri because it is supposed to pack a delicious punch when made correctly. Well, the punch landed. The flavors melded together favorably. The sweet and sour of each component complimented each other without fighting for attention with my taste buds.
google avatar

Jessy S.

Yelp
A little redemption for this gem in the Anaheim packing house. My wife is Pakistani and I'm Indian so we know our cuisine. The food is not oily, greasy, or heavy this may be throwing people off. It's a lighter, healthier option than true Indian Pakistani cuisine. The flavors were there but they might have been on the lighter side. My wife and I really enjoyed the food.
google avatar

Varun N.

Yelp
Fantastic food! I'm surprised at the rating being anything other than 5! The pain puri reminded me of home! The sev puri hit home! The tandoori is fabulous and I encourage everyone to try the paneer. Kudos to the chef! I will be back whenever I'm in the area.
google avatar

Jazzy S.

Yelp
The packing house has lots of great food options, but Indian food seemed to catch our eye. The food was yummy overall, but way overpriced. Everything at the packing house seems super high in price for not too big of portions. - Chicken tikka masala thali (4/5): Comes with rice, side salad, and some type of lentil curry, plus the chicken tikka masala. I added garlic naan which was delicious, very fluffy and tasted amazing with the garlic flavor. The tikka masala had good flavor, but it was a small portion with not much of the curry sauce to dip the naan in. I paid about $22 for this lunch meal. Good but way high in price.

Peyton K.

Yelp
First time ever having Indian food. Great experience! Chicken tasted very good and great seasoning. Service was also great. Cute location.
