Afghan House - Review - Rogers Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"This casual Rogers Park spot specializes in Afghan food. Afghan House's menu has dishes like qabili palaw with lamb shank, mantu filled with beef and onions, and a handful of different kabobs. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Afghan House is an absolute delight! The food is incredibly tasty, authentic, and full of rich Afghan flavors. Every dish is made with care, and you can really taste the quality and tradition in each bite. The kabobs were juicy and well-seasoned, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the naan was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Whether you're familiar with Afghan cuisine or trying it for the first time, I highly recommend checking out Afghan House. It’s a great spot for both casual meals and special occasions. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Afghan House offers a cozy, vibrant setting that brings a taste of Afghan tradition to life. Their Afghani dim sum and pulao are standout dishes, packed with authentic flavor. The charcoal-grilled kebabs are unbeatable, and the meal ends perfectly with a cup of their rich, traditional chai. The host, Amin, is a true gentleman — he personally visited our table to ensure everything was perfect. His humbleness and hospitality made the dinner an unforgettable experience. A must-visit for lovers of Afghan cuisine!

Amazing food for the price. We ordered the ~120$ kabuli pualo(with kebabs) platter and it was so good. We actually received two large plates of platter (one had afgani rice other uzbeiki i believe) which was more than enough for 6 people. Had good leftover as well. The ambience was great, and the hosts were very friendly and welcoming.

Tried the Lamb Pulao and Lamb Karahi at Afshan Restaurant — both dishes were absolutely delicious! The pulao was perfectly cooked with tender lamb, and the karahi had rich, bold flavors that really stood out. Special thanks to Yaar Mohammed for the great service — friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. Highly recommend this spot for authentic and flavorful food!

Never had afghan food. We decided to give it a try! Can’t express in words what a delicious and delightful experience it was for me and my husband! We got the Family Dinner plate with Chicken Kabob, koobideh, lamb kabob kubideh, chicken , a big mountain of Qabil rice and Naan! We are looking forward to coming back and try other dishes!

Bizayer mazadar ast! Very delicious. The mantu and palaw taste great, the portion sizes were good, the chia is super tasty. Firni desert was also perfect to end the night with. Happy we were able to visit. We highly recommend coming here.

Yelp
A restaurant at the quieter end of Devon where you can easily find free parking around the corner or paid out front. I believe something was wrong with their dough machine where they could not offer bolani or aushak that day. We got the mantu, the spinach sabzi, and the chicken tomato based sauce dish (half chicken) at the top of that menu section (forgot name) and naan. Was a great meal - just some leftovers to go home, so I think it's a little pricier than other meals in the area. We appreciate the difference in cuisine and having it close to home and not needing reservations like other Afghan options that have outgrown their humble roots. Got pictures of the food this time - next time menu?

Yelp
We originally came here, because we were looking for a restaurant open after 9 PM. I'm so glad we came! Delicious food, great service, and a pretty interior with nice artwork and moving colored lights. All the food we tried was delicious, but the standouts were the eggplant (melt-in-your mouth and delicious), the Afghan naan (a bit fluffier than Indian naan), and the green tea, which tasted like it had cardamon and black pepper in it. Everything was great.

Yelp
Really good Afghan food. They serve a sort of egg-drop soup with a little meat that will remind you that black pepper has real flavor (I'm not kidding - this soup is delicious). I had Qabuli pilao, which is a big pile of rice with caramelized carrot and raisins on top of a nice lamb shank. This is pure comfort food - simple, tasty, filling. My friend had lamb karahi, which is just amazing - it's meaty, spicy, sizzling, rich... just order it and find out how good it is.
