Ms. Smiley, the Program Director, gave me an excellent tour of the Center. In the 70's & 80's, I regularly attended plays, dance concerts, and Kwanzaa celebrations there when it was the WACC. To see the remarkable growth brought joy and pride to me! I've lived out of state for decades now and this was my first visit in over 20 years.

Today was AMAZING!! I was here celebrating with BUCU (Black Unity Conference Universal). My nephew and I had a grand time. He was able to shadow the DJ, speak with someone about learning to play chess, eat good food, talk to all the vendors and most importantly, help me! I was there promoting my body butter business and enjoying the marvelous company of magnificent people. This place is absolutely amazing. The inside is fantastic. Go check it out and see for yourself...you know you want to.

Wandering around San Francisco, I was happy to come across the AAACC. I was welcomed in and offered a free personal tour of the space. There is a lot of thought-provoking art on the walls of the multi-use rooms, as well as the halls and stairways.

I attended the Black family reunion celebration for Juneteenth. This facility have a lot of activities going on for youth. The event was beautifully organized with bands, artists, dancers, film and food.

I tried my best to work with them but everytime i approched them in person for information they didnt have any. again I really wanted to work with them i went to their website ...difficult to get a direct contact and when I did I never heard back 3 weeks later I called 3 times and never heard back. in other words when someone else is doing an event there support it its a wonderful venue that speaks to you but if you want to work with them... They don't want to work with you. Beautiful venue location and the people i were there with were cool and the security was nice... Its just who ever does the booking....

Yelp
Located in the heart of San Francisco, the The African American Art & Culture Complex is a little local gem. That promotes and displays the art of local African-American artists, further showcasing black culture. I had never heard of this art center before, as it's not a large as the the more well known MOMA, DeYoung, etc. But this center focuses on empowering its community through Afro-centric artistic and cultural expression, mediums, education and programming. Their goal is to inspire children and youth, and promote thr work of aspiring Bay Area artists, and that can easily be seen throughout all floors of the complex. I didn't view all floors as I was attending an after hours gathering on the 3rd floors, but the halls their and inside my main room. Were full of lively painting and crafts. Definitely a place to get a little history and culture from the local community.

Yelp
Pretty decent venue overall. Lots of interesting programs. Collaboration with other community centers (ie. LGBT) to bring quality programming of interest to the neighborhood. Definitely worth a look.
