"For après-ski fine dining, I settle in for five or six precise, inventive courses with wine pairings at this Michelin-starred spot inside Backstage—refined yet relaxed enough to cap a day on the mountain." - Lindsay Lambert

"The lift takes you up to the fine dining restaurant on the third floor of Backstage Hotel. Relax over an aperitif on the comfortable couch stationed beneath an originally designed chandelier made up of musical instruments. Then comes the creative surprise menu composed of five or six courses, which is prepared in the open kitchen by Florian Neubauer's dedicated team, and features dishes such as mussel, artichoke and chorizo, or beef, onion and sansho pepper. A novel touch: The bread is baked right at your table. There is also an optional cheese course. To accompany both set menus, you can choose between the regional "Valais Pairing" and the "International Pairing". The modern and elegant interior is packed with artworks – this is the hallmark of the owner, artist and hotelier Heinz Julen. The centrally positioned fireplace also adds atmosphere." - Michelin Inspector

The experience was exceptional. The food was outstanding and truly unique. The service was incredible — Anna made us feel extremely comfortable and warmly welcomed. She explained everything in great detail. This is definitely a place that deserves to be on the must-do list when visiting Zermatt.

Good location and nicely appointed details. But the food is overly salty, and most of them are similar. I am looking for dynamics in culinary sensations. Updates after owner replied. It is interesting that you questioned my review. I visited back in Feb. I edited the review a month later. The pictures are clearly your food, and I think you definitely recognized them. How can an owner lie and deny the picture of their food ? The way you take critics just reveals how unconfident you are about your food and deflating feedbacks you don’t want to hear prevents you from going far. Your food as pointed by other costumers is overly salty.

The tasting was very well thought out and food was excellent. The dining room was a bit warm but otherwise very charming. Service and presentation was great, shout out to Christina our server for a memorable evening.

This was my first ever Michelin star restaurant and it did not disappoint! There was not a lot of information on the website, so I didn't really know what to expect. They open at 7:30 at night and run one service each night. There are 4 course, 5 course, and 7 course options and you can do a wine pairing as well. Each option has a pre-course and a course plate. We did the 4 course option which was roughly 140 franc per person and took 2 hours. I don't remember the prices of the 5 and 7 courses but I do know that they take 3 and 4 hours respectively. The service was impeccable and we felt very well cared for. The food was creative, well balanced, and incredible. Everything was so beautiful and delicious. It was truly a culinary experience. If you are a foodie and you can afford it, this is a dinner you will not forget. Special thank you to my mom for taking us here.

After Seven is an absolute culinary experience and definitely worth the money. From the moment you walk in until the moment you leave, you’re greeted with warm smiles and genuinely lovely service. The menu is extensive and beautifully curated: six refined courses, a generous cheese selection, delightful little pastries (petit fours), and excellent wines and digestifs, all accompanied by delicious homemade bread. The lamb in particular is outstanding and cooked to perfection. Enjoying all of this while looking out over the beautiful scenery of Zermatt makes the evening truly unforgettable.

Google
We had the best dinner ever, the better way to say it was 3 1/2 hours of unbelievable performance . Great food , top notch service, the price was very fair, for amount of drinks and food for 7 people, we all were very pleased with everything. Highly recommend, we are coming back for sure👌

Google
Amazing dining experience. We had the 6 course meal (which is actually 12 if you count every starter). The decor, the service, the food and the presentation of every plate is amazing. It made for a memorable experience. 10/10!

Yelp
Death by Salt One of the items was served on what appeared to be rice. Low lighting made identification hard. I ate a LARGE mouthful of salt, incorrectly believing it was a rice accompaniment to the meat. The salt destroyed my ability to taste. It ruined the entire meal. For 24 hours, my taste buds had no taste due to the destruction of my mouth by the salt. I requested a refund from Mr. Heinz, the owner, but he never responded.

Yelp
Opposite to the bears, this restaurant hibernates outside of winter, meaning it's only open from December to April. I dined in for Christmas and my advise for hopeful December diners to make a reservation by email. You will need to give your credit card info (and be prepared for penalty charge if you missed it). However, it's worth the hassle and wait. The four course meals is delicious, with three small dishes per course, each one presented both beautifully and innovatively. After Seven truly deserved it's two Michellin stars. I love the personal touch at the end where both chefs took the time out of the hectic kitchen to greet each guest at the end of their meal. Christmas dinner at After Seven was a delight and a surprise at every bite.

Yelp
Host is incredibly tacky. I asked to sit for a "quick bite" on the recommendation of a friend who knows the owner, (did not mention this to the host) and he said "this is a gourmet dinner restaurant... we don't do quick bites." Failure to over interpret casual idioms aside, the place looks like a crappy club in Midtown Manhattan. Sorry, but if we traveled this far from New York, I don't need to bear witness to half-witted customer service. No one in a real restaurant speaks that way.
