Financial Issues Are Apparently Plaguing Chef Alice Waters’s Nonprofit Organizations Edible Schoolyard and the Alice Waters Institute | Eater SF

"Announced in 2020 as part of a UC Davis partnership, the project at Aggie Square was initially described with plans for interactive classrooms and 'food‑based learning' for local K–12 students, but Soleil Ho reports that the mission has evolved to include updating the UC system's food program, serving as a training hub for chefs and educators, and operating as a cooking school; UC Davis says it remains in conversation with the Alice Waters Institute regarding affiliation and presence at Aggie Square." - Dianne de Guzman

I love this place. I’ve been to Aggie Square for both meetings and photo shoots, and it’s been a great experience every time. The main lobby of the main building has a beautiful waiting area with plenty of seating and tons of natural light, which makes the space feel open, modern, and welcoming. It’s also a great environment for creative work and professional gatherings. Aggie Square is truly a great addition to the UC Davis medical center campus and the city.

We brought Impact & Influence Magazine to an event at Aggie Square last night and what a beautiful space. The people were amazing. Great conversation. And a lot of fun. Looking forward to the next event.

Opening Day at Aggie Square? I was there to enjoy the festivities and especially the unique facilities. (There was even a unique ribbon cutting for each attendee!)

I find the building and space to be truly inspiring, modern, vibrant, and filled with beautiful colors that create an inviting atmosphere. The website captures this spirit well, reflecting not only the striking design of the space but also the vision behind it: a hub where research, education, innovation, and community come together. It conveys the university’s strong commitment to collaboration, inclusivity, and economic growth while highlighting the state-of-the-art labs, startup incubators, and student housing that make Aggie Square a dynamic environment. The management staff have also been very welcoming, and I want to extend a special thank you to Mary and Sumiko for their support throughout this transition. For me and my colleagues, Aggie Square represents an exciting new chapter and a home that embodies both the beauty of the space and the limitless opportunities it is designed to foster.

Honestly just despise the designer for using so much glass to make a glorified sun mirror for those walking by it
