I recently visited Ahime and tried their tasting menu, which included five different dishes. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing.
The restaurant’s full menu is quite small, with only around eight dishes in total. When a chef decides to offer such a limited selection, I expect each plate to be exceptional — a true reflection of their best work. In this case, that standard wasn’t met. The flavors were acceptable but far from memorable, and none of the five people at our table found any dish particularly unique or inspiring.
I usually appreciate simplicity in food, but simple dishes still need to be deeply flavorful or show refined technique. Here, the cooking felt uninspired and lacked the creativity or excitement I expected.
Another major concern was the value. The food cost of the plates felt disproportionate to the price we paid. While I understand that tasting menus come with smaller portions, the ingredients used seemed quite basic and inexpensive, which made the high pricing difficult to justify.
On a more positive note, the restaurant’s design was attractive — minimalist and industrial in a pleasant way. The service team was friendly, attentive, and made us feel comfortable throughout the evening. Their wine list was extensive, though it leaned heavily toward the expensive side.
