All The Celebrity-Owned Bars On Broadway, Ranked - Nashville - The Infatuation

"If Robert’s is the yardstick by which all Broadway bars should be measured, AJ’s has a lot of the same ingredients in a smaller space. Alan Jackson’s name is everywhere—on the door, hats, and almost everything else—but the celebrity status feels much more subdued than in other spots. AJ’s even manages to squeeze in some rustic old country charm. Two-stepping takes place in front of the little stage (mostly at night), and there’s an occasional steel guitar player or fiddler who joins the mix. The old “holler and a swaller” mostly disappeared from Broadway recently, but that tradition of drinking collectively with the musicians and crowd is still alive and well here." - ann walczak

I was so fortunate to have my first vocal student partner with me to fund a trip to Nashville. He is 80 and we loved singing karaoke here. I just wish the stage were oriented the other way to see out into the crowd more. The acoustics were the best anywhere. Great spot for taking videos, especially if you come early!

Best “hidden” gem on broadway! AJ’s is the only place you can get an affordable drink in Nashville and they don’t skimp on the pours. They had good live music and the bartenders were great. The second floor has comfy couches with a relaxed vibe and the third floor has a nice rooftop that wasn’t crazy busy when we went.

Google
We make it a point to go to AJ’s every time we are in Nashville. They have quality entertainers/artists and the service is 10/10, especially Chris Vick the bartender. He made the best drinks in Nashville and is as genuine as they come! Highly recommend!

Google
This is a super fun place! Drinks are cheaper than anywhere on the strip. They have great music. Time in-between bands is very short. Small place but don’t need big and fancy to have fun. 3 stories but laid back. The rooftop offers great views of the street. Every floor is a good time getting to the roof. The bands this particular night were great! The Big Bass player in first band was Awesome! Second band Francelle, The guitar player sounded just like Alan Jackson! Clean place , friendly staff, bartenders are great and quick. Nice dance floor . I have been to Nashville twice and both times this bar has been the best, not crazy crowded like the others . I will definitely return when I’m in Nashville

Google
Always a great time at AJ's! The staff are great and attentive and the entertainment on each floor is so so talented. When in Nashville stop at AJ's. They all work on tips so be sure to tip your bartenders and singers. Can't wait to go back!

Google
Drinks are good and karaoke is fun! BEWARE - you will only get up on stage if you tip the karaoke DJ. It’s a little silly they have a list if you can just tip to get above everyone else but…. It has been that way both times I’ve gone. Good for the DJ, not so much the patrons 😅

Google
One of my favorite bars on broadway!!! The food is AMAZING!!! The best chicken tenders I have ever had! The spicy fried pickles were also just so delicious. 10/10!! All staff was extremely nice!!!

Google
Something for everyone as each floor has something different. Live band on each except third floor where there was karaoke (pictured).

Yelp
One of my newest favorites after Losers and Cadillac tequila closed. All country music all the time and it's a small / intimate venue. Same expensive drinks and options as all the other bars, but AJ's ONLY plays country music! This is my new go-to, especially when all I want is good country music!!
google avatar

Yelp
The bartender (Elisa) on the rooftop bar was so rude. No customer service skills whatsoever. She was super rude to our Scottish friends. The singer was friendly and engaging with customers

Yelp
DAMN good!! just got back home from deployment and decided to spend one of my first nights home here! i just love it... first night home was the aj concert in tampa actually so the second night home being his bar damn sure made me glad i came back alive lmao keep it up yall!!

Yelp
Went here for karaoke. Host was nice and the vibe was fun. Sound was a little off, but it is an odd layout which probably affected that. We had fun singing and the host obliged our quirky requests.
google avatar

Katherine P.

Yelp
Came here for a work event so had the floor all to ourselves which was cool and the karaoke was very entertaining. Once the bar opened up to others, we definitely heard a lot of great singers. We also spent some time in the 1st floor and music was ok but it was a Wednesday night. The food was just ok but it was preordered chips and salsa, pasta and chicken and it was nothing special.

Yelp
During a conference in Nashville, the organizers took us by bus down to Broadway to spend an evening on the roof lounge, fourth floor, of AJ's good time bar. This place has live music on each of the four floors, which was really excellent. The service was very good and the food and alcohol, did the job to keep everyone appropriately lubricated and decently fed. If you love live music, and there is plenty of it on Broadway in Nashville, visit AJ's good time bar.

Yelp
My review again is only for stopping in on Tuesday at 3:30 and grabbing an overpriced Coors light. The service was good. The band was ok for Nashville standards. Lots of country and unfortunately I am not a country fan but was here for work. It's more dicey than anything when it comes to decor. It's a good place to start have a beer then make a plan on where to go next. Not sure they even serve food.

Yelp
Kendra is amazing! My friends and I are visiting Nashville for my 21st bday and she has made the most amazing drinks and has taken such great care of us! If you're looking for a friendly and welcoming space this is the place to come! Ask for Kendra!

Yelp
This place doesn't seem as popular as other Honky Tonks on Broadway but still offered great entertainment. Music was great and the drinks were fairly priced. I unfortunately stayed for only a couple of songs and didn't get to go upstairs but will definitely make my way up next time I'm in town.

Yelp
There are so many roof top bars here in Nashville but this is by far my favorite. They give you excellent service, great drinks and they do not charge you an arm and a half and then serve your drink in a baby cup (like many, many others). I am also very appreciative that they always have great musicians (mostly singer songwriters) that are ok with people listening AND talking. If you like music, but also like to keep your hearing and ear drums intact, this is your place. And hey, its Allan Jacksons place!

Yelp
I just had the time of my life at AJ's Good Time Bar! The music and party atmosphere is amazing - I couldn't stop singing along & dancing! The vibes here are wonderful. People are warm, friendly, unpretentious and ready to get down. I was right in front of the stage, but for those not wanting to be in a crowd, there were other places to enjoy a drink in the back of the bar. Prices were high ($6.50 for a bottle of Busch Light), but that is totally understandable... It's the same or more everywhere on Broadway. Plus, you get world-class music with zero cover charge!
google avatar

Yelp
I love me some AJ so this was our 1st stop on the Honkey Tonk Trail AKA South Broadway. This is an older divey bar which we loved. Like most of the bars on Broadway, the stage is up front by the street and there is a rooftop area. We opted for the bar. Surprisingly they offer a bountiful selection of craft brews as well as the standards. Both times we visited the band was excellent playing a mix of country standards and newer artists. If this is your scene then you should definitely plan to stop by AJs where it's always 5 o'clock somewhere.
google avatar

Tony M.

Yelp
AJ's was listed as the top honkeytonk in Nashville. It was a nice small bar with good music but there wasn't much to it. The ambiance was ok, the music was as expected, and the service was really good. I can't speak to the food but the drinks were cold. It wouldn't be my first choice on Broadway but I was glad we stopped in for a drink.
google avatar

Mark A.

Yelp
My wife and I had a blast at AJ's. We were at an event thrown by our largest vendor and were surprised by the food. It was outstanding. Loved the vibe. I am not that big of a country music fan but the live band was exceptional. I would highly recommend AJ's.
google avatar

Teresa D.

Yelp
By far, AJs has the BEST prices on mixed drinks and bigger cups Other bars give you the small 8-10 oz cups and charge an insane amount! Get a bucket of beer (6) you save $2/bottle. Ladies working are nice. Alyssa was friendly and very accommodating. We visited several times while in Nashville Bands are good too!

Lynne B.

Yelp
Allen Jackson's bar in Nashville was very disappointing!! It was a dive compaired to the other country stars. It was like he couldn't spend a dime to make it look nice. Dark and crappy looking down stairs . Up stairs was a liitle better. I won't be going back to AJ's bar thats for sure. I was there in September 24. Lb

Yelp
Went to Nashville on a girls trip. We stopped into multiple honkytonks and this was definitely the most authentic. I'm an 80/90's country gal so the band was perfect. We went up to explore the rooftop but stopped at karaoke which kept our attention for a very long time. Some really great and fun singers. This is a bar I would go to often. It's definitely smaller and better than the large club-style bars.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
AJ's (Alan Jackson) Sara was hysterical, I love her. Jay Bragg Band, two people, him and a woman(Renee) violinist. So good. I WOULD go back.
google avatar

Gina L.

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite bars on Broadway in Nashville. The band that was playing was unreal and they really honor Alan Jackson here. We stayed here for over 6 hours (all day) one day while we were here and came back AGAIN later that night for karaoke on the 3rd floor. The musicians were amazing and so friendly, the bartender on the third floor made a great drink and also had a great voice for karaoke, and the bands were willing to play lots of requests for reasonable tips unlike other places. Will be coming back here every time I come to Nashville.
google avatar

Melissa I.

Yelp
I mean if you actually read these reviews while checking out bars in Nashville, you are doing it ALL wrong. Get out and walk Broadway...who cares where you end up, just stop in every bar and talk to everyone you run into!! Good music, good drinks, and an ultimate dive bar with multiple levels.

Amber S.

Yelp
Kendra is the best!!!! Great service, friendly, all the things you are looking for!
google avatar

Jaden B.

Yelp
I love this bar! It's my kind of place ... oh wait that's a Toby Keith song not an Alan Jackson song but I do love this bar. It is 4 floors and rich and full of history! Get the hootchie cootchie shots! Right on Broadway! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it uses plastic cups and that is veryy bad for the environment!

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Kendra on the second floor is amazing! she makes the best vodka+lemonade and is so personable and lovely. One of my favorites!

Lindsey S.

Yelp
KENDRA!!!! best bartender we have ever had in nashville!! i love it here. good times with kendra

Tarrah S.

Yelp
Went here tonight and the music was good. I ordered 1 drink and asked what the charge would be. Rose, the bartender said it would be $16. I told her I wanted it on the rocks and she said there would be a small upcharge for "the rocks" because the pour is a little heavier.... ok... weird but ok. She pours the liquor then adds ice. I go to pay my bill, and the uocharge was $6! When I questioned the charge she literally told me to leave (which I was anyway). I have never been treated this way in any establishment. I love Alan Jackson but I will never go here again. I think that they are used to serving drunk people that do not question when they alter the bill. As soon as I questioned the charge, I was met with aggression and told to leave. This was a horrible experience.

Yelp
My friends and I came here after dinner. We had a lot of fun here! I got a pineapple rum to drink and it was pretty filling. They don't skimp on drinks! My drink was huge! The downstairs was a fun vibe, and their upstairs had a fun patio vibe!

T Y.

Yelp
Great little bar with live country bands. I couldn't say who was playing but they were great! One thing we didn't love was the begging for tips, en lieu of cover. It just killed the vibe...I think I'd rather pay a cover. Also, wished they had a drinkable white wine option but they did have Yuengling! Fun crowd! Small dance floor. I also enjoyed when they played old Alan Jackson songs.
google avatar

Yelp
Small very lively hi key tonk. Nice staff as well. Worth coming I. For some music and a drink.

Denise E.

Yelp
We had our corporate meeting in Nashville and chose AJ's for our VIP party. The staff was amazing. Bailey, our bartender/server was extremely attentive (while still serving the entire 2nd floor bar) and knowledgeable of whiskey offerings for our group. Melissa - our event coordinator was amazing. She was easy to do business with and was onsite to ensure our event went off without a hitch. She even had an AJ's/Company sign welcoming our group! Above and beyond. The acoustic music on our floor was great! Musicians were interactive with the crowd and ensured that everyone was having a great time. I highly recommend a visit to AJ's if you are a tourist and certainly recommend them for a VIP or private event!

Yelp
I hate to be a poo poo-ER, especially because I love Alan Jackson, but this simply wasn't my favorite bar in Nashville. I was in town for a work conference - so that was my perspective. I also felt that this bar wasn't the easiest watering hole to maneuver around inside - steep stair case, mediocre food and so so environment. On the plus side, it was centrally located and the bands / musicians were dynamite - but that could be said for most of the bars on Broadway and throughout Nashville.
google avatar

Ray R.

Yelp
Stopped in for a beer, it's your typical Broadway tourist pub. I like it though since it's off Broadway and normal not too busy since it's out the way. But I did find it annoying that the girls on stage were more interested in there live stream and talking to people on line than playing music.
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
Most authentic country music bar in Nashville. Great music, bartenders and drinks.celebrated my daughter's 21st birthday.
google avatar

Carmel P.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite bars on Broadway in Nashville. The "keeping it country" slogan got my attention and I was all in!! Good talent onstage and efficient, nice bar staff.
google avatar

Kara P.

Yelp
The best bar!! Great staff and music!! Love how you can stream the music as well!! Bartenders were awesome!
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
AJ's Good Time Bar was a nice place to end our Saturday night! Lots of floors, lots of space, and live music on each floor. We went to the roof & got drinks right away. The music was very chill up there, just one solo guitarist/singer. We were able to enjoy our last bar in Nashville taking in some views of the city. You can however hear the music from the bar across the way, so watch out for that if you're up on the roof.
google avatar

Gary J.

Yelp
I don't think Alan Jackson is even trying with this place. I feel the place isn't worthy of his name. Second floor was a good hideaway but super hot. This place is a good option since it's not very crowded

Alex S.

Yelp
I will start by saying I enjoyed the ambiance and music. I was having a good time and needed some air for a second and went to the bathroom. A crew member on the second floor came in and heckled me and my buddy. He angrily went on a rant that if I threw up he would have to clean it and essentially accused me of planning to trash the bathroom. While I did not need to throw up, I tried to diffuse the situation and be polite, responding back that I would since I would not someone else to clean up my mess. He then responded "or you can just fucking pull yourself together." Mind you I had not been drinking before this minus one drink. I was not drunk. I just needed air from the stuffiness. That quip was very rude, but I was not going to fight with the staff, so I just walked out without a word and had the other 10 members of my crew leave the bar with me after that. While I don't think all of the staff was like this, i.e. the bartenders on the third and fourth floor, it was enough to ruin the experience.
google avatar

Jessalyn L.

Yelp
This bar is a bit older and out of the times. It was OK to grab a quick drink however, the bands were very sad part and the upstairs patio is empty and lacking.
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
Alan jacksons good time bar reminds me of a nicer rundown style bar. Defentitly not as nice as the other bars on the strip. The bar is a multi store bar and features a pretty nice rooftop area. Roof top bar wasn't open when we were there so we got drinks on the first floor and went up there. They had a live band which was very good. Prices werent great compared to the other bars and they didnt offer any happy hour deals. They do run karaoke however it wasn't going on while we were there. Overall an ok spot to stop in and get a quick drink while hoping down the strip but nothing else.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
Came by on a Sunday night. There were 2 people singing. Hung out with the DJ- John and the bartender Megan. I felt pretty bad for them because the place was empty. But they made the best of it and I stayed and sang about 10 songs. The fact that they put up with my singing is worth the 5 stars. But they also had great attitudes and wanted me to have a good time. This will be a must stop on every visit.

Diane W.

Yelp
LOVE TO STREAM, and I can't thank AJ'S for offering this. Someday when my health gets better I plan on dropping in and spend a good deal of time there. 5 start rating in my book.
google avatar

Mark O.

Yelp
We had been on the road for about 14 hours at this point, but the girl I was with wanted to stop in downtown Nashville to check out music row. I went along with it and was glad I did. She just wanted to check things out, but the bouncer on the outside invited us to come in and look around if we wanted. We decided to stay and I had a local brew; unfortunately I don't remember what it was. $4.00 or so; not bad for a pint. The bartender was friendly and checked back in on us... Nice to have live music during daytime hours, the couple that was performing did some nice covers of country songs and took requests as well.
google avatar

Lindsey S.

Yelp
We stopped by here because we saw they had a patio on the roof. It looked like it was bigger than it was, but it's right next to another bar that also has a rooftop patio. It looked like there was live music at AJ's on the roof, however it was at the bar next door. I suppose the nice thing is that on either side you would hear them and there aren't competing bands. While there was nothing that stood out as bad about this place, it didn't seem like anything special as far as rooftop patio's go. It was also really hot and humid out. There were fans that weren't on to help cool things down a bit. Wasn't too expensive, no cover, live music on each floor. If we weren't just stopping in for a quick drink before dinner, I would have liked to check out the other floors. It was neat to see the Alan Jackson tie ins throughout the bar. Definitely more for the tourists or folks who like country music. I'd visit and give it another chance if I was in town again.

Yelp
Was on vacation in Nashville and walking around Broadway when we saw a sign for deals on Jell-O shots and adult Capri suns so we walked in into AJ's. Immediately greeted with a warm smile and a welcoming attitude by security. He was kind and started conversations with us. Got to the bar and ordered a round of the Jell-O shots and an adult Capri sun. The Jell-O shots were a bit small and definitely not the strongest I've had but had a smooth flavor to them. The adult Capri sun was quite refreshing and actually bigger than I expected. The set up of the bar was with multiple floors and they even had an elevator you could take up. The place was a bit slow but that's most likely because we stopped in on a rainy Monday night. But on the bright side there was live musician with his guitar jamming out! Best part of my experience there for sure. There was decor all around the bar and you could get lost in all the details. Overall we had a good time with some good drinks and even better people. If you get the chance I would definitely recommend stopping in for a bit at AJ's!

Dallas V.

Yelp
Had an awesome time when I visited! Loved the 2nd floor, chill but still a damn good time! Staff and music was 10/10!
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
It was...er...fine. The roof top bar was a pleasant escape from the downtown Nashville walk. There is no table service and not a wide range of available drinks. It was laid-back and that's what we were looking for. There was a cacophony of different live music performances on Broadway that I had a hard time dealing with. This place didn't have any live music on the roof while we were there, but the roof top bar nearby had an acoustic performance that was pretty good.

Haley W.

Yelp
Awful workers, bouncers, and awful service!! Never go here if you want to have fun in Nashville because they will ruin your time.
google avatar

Jake C.

Yelp
Stopped in here briefly while walking up and down Broadway. Could see and hear music in the window and also saw a sign for $4.00 Jell-O shots. My friends and I ventured in. To start with, this place is small. I have heard that there is a rooftop patio area, but it was freezing this night in Nashville and it wasn't open that I could tell. That left just the bar area and it is small. The bar itself has maybe 10 stools and there are only two small tables beyond that to sit. That's not a lot of room if you want a group, but just past the tables is a bit of empty space, so perhaps that gets filled in when it gets busy. My friends each got some of the Jell-O shots. I passed on them. They told me they were very good and to try one, but I don't do Jell-O shots at all. We hung out and listened to the band, but we were in here less than 10 minutes. There really wasn't anywhere to sit, so I leaned up against a support pole and my friends stood against a wall. Not exactly a design that lends itself to people staying for hours and dropping some serious cash. Band was a bit on the loud side. Not their fault -- the acoustics are a bit wonky in there the way it is designed. I liked the band, so at least they brought in someone worth having, but no place to really sit and stay for a while, there was no reason to stay. This place is okay to pop your head in to and check it out -- and perhaps the rooftop area is nice when it is open -- but for just the ground floor of a bar...? Not enough seating, I'm afraid.

Yelp
Per Nashville ordinance, you are allowed to have open alcohol in a PLASTIC container. My boyfriend and I left this bar with our popsicles in a PLASTIC container. We were chased down the street by the security guard who made me feel very uncomfortable and physically assaulted me by hitting me in the shoulder. He then proceed to grab the popsicle from my hand, stealing my $7 purchase, and chase down my boyfriend trying to grab the back of his shirt while screaming at us that we are "fucking ass holes". I would NEVER return to this bar after such disrespect. I will be filing a harassment complaint with Nashville PD. See the attached ordinance that has been in attempt to amend but has NOT passed therefore it is still legal to have open contains from 5th and Broadway to Broadway and Korean veterans blvd.
