Chiang Mai Is the Center of Thailand's Coffee Universe

"A mission-driven roastery and cafe in the Chang Phueak district managed by Lee Ayu, a roaster and social worker who uplifts Indigenous Akha communities through direct trade and sustainable farming. The operation trains farmers in agroforestry, has supported over 300 families across several provinces, and produces delicious single-origin coffees that directly support local livelihoods." - Lauren Mowery

The 14 Best Restaurants in Chiang Mai, Thailand | Eater

"Among Thais, Chiang Mai is renowned for its cafes, and at the top of the heap is Akha Ama. Quite possibly one of the best-value coffee shops in the world (an excellent cappuccino will set you back less than $2), it also serves a good cause: The beans here are grown in the remote corners of neighboring Chiang Rai province, providing a needed economic resource for northern Thailand’s minority groups. Good local Geisha - tried both hot and ice drip and taste different (hot: more fruity, ice is sweeter). The banana muffin is also fluffy and yummy! Oh and Not to mention, marvelous interior design. Don't miss this if you are in town (and they close early at 1745 (Wed)

I tried both their espresso & hot drip (hand-pour over filter coffee) both are execute nicely. And I tried all their beans. Asoom, aya, Ader (Geisha). The calibration is on point. came here continuously for 3 days. Will definitely revisit if I’m at Chiang Mai again. Or should I say, I will revisit Chiang Mai because of Akha Ama. If you truly appreciate coffee/specialty coffee. Here’s an excellent choice for you. Bonus points if you’re looking to try local Chiang mai beans.

The specialty coffee blend was fascinating and offered strong layers of flavor. I detected orange peel in the foam, which then led into the fresh sweetness of honey, and finished with a nutty coffee aroma. The mouthfeel was quite intriguing. The latte was also exceptionally fragrant and mellow/smooth. I even bought some of their coffee beans. I really enjoy this shop; it is said to be a very famous coffee spot in Northern Thailand.

The best light roast milk-based coffee (tried the Ponlamai and Aya beans) we had during our trip after trying about 7-8 different cafes recommended for their coffee. Gorgeous space with WiFi and clean bathrooms although the bathroom in their other outlet is a little nicer.

Good coffee, relaxed vibe with no real outdoor seating. Good service. No G pay Handicap ♿️ doable... they have a narrow ramp Recommended

Hidden gem with amazing coffee and workspace! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This place is truly a hidden gem in Chiang Mai! The building itself is stunning - beautiful design and plenty of workspace that makes it perfect for getting work done or just relaxing with a great cup of coffee. Pro tip: There aren't many electrical outlets available, so make sure your devices are fully charged before settling in for a long session! Now for the most important part - the coffee is absolutely delicious! 🙌 I love that they offer three different bean options (mild, dark, and strong) so you can choose based on your preference. Plus, they cater to different dietary needs with regular milk, soy milk, and oat milk options. Definitely recommend this spot for coffee lovers looking for quality beans and a beautiful atmosphere to work or unwind!

The bean! The beans! Great beans. Great latte ❤️👌 Also aesthetics on point. Love their pastries too. A little pricey compared to other cafes but its worth every baht. Their Peaberry beans with note of tobacco ❤️❤️❤️ bring bags home.

Enjoyed our coffee experience here with their home grown beans, great service and coffee offerings. The ambiance of the place also stands out with its industrial and brick layered interiors. One of the better options for coffee within the old city.
