Al-Andalus I definitely suggest for some good Egyptian food! The food was really delicious, comforting, and warm. My favorite dish was the shakshuka and the potato dish. I couldn’t have enough of these dishes, and wanted more. The plates are small though, and tapa sized, so it’s best to get around 2-3 dishes per person to fill a person up. The ambience and aesthetic of the restaurant was beautiful and beautifully decorated, it gave major Aladdin vibes. The dishes are around $10 each, and each person should get around 3 dishes so it comes around to like $25-$30 per person. They also have a lot of vegan dishes as well. One con though is that this place is super busy, so you have to RSVP well in advance or won’t find a table. We had to sit outside because we didn’t rsvp and there were no tables available. Essentially, it’s a super busy, crowded, and popular restaurant, which is a downside. However, our food came out really quickly and the servers were informative and friendly. We ordered the tasting menu and were sat at a gorgeous rug covered booth at the end of the hall. Our waiter, Adam, was helpful and kind and lovely. Definitely made the dining experience more wonderful. Great ambiance inside. Our favorite items were the mushroom shawarma and the confit leek. We wouldn’t order the eggplant again. But it wasn’t bad. Just like not our favorite.

For <$10 per dish (including drinks), I was expecting McDonald's-quality tapas--and in these inflationary times, was prepared to be grateful for even that. But nope, Al-Andalus was surprisingly tasty, flavorful and dare I say...generously portioned? So for <$10, it's basically a straight flush. And you better be grateful life the NYC restaurant gods dealt you this hand. We shared: - Pan Con Tomate: Great gluten mixology meets quality heirloom tomatoes - Patatas Bravas: Not my favorite kind of sauce, but a huge amount of fried starch to satisfy all carb needs - Confit Leeks: Mmm, this disk can leek into my mouth any day - Basted Cabbage: Crunchy, buttery and herby - Shawarma Mushrooms: For all the fungal lovers, enjoy the wet crunch with toum, harissa and pickles - Paella: Took a chance on this one and wasn't disappointed. It's not a typical paella per se, but expect plenty of smoked sofrito, healthy veggies and saffron broth Wash it all down with a Rose Lemonade or Strawberry Mint Tea (yes, the glasses are tumbler-sized). All in all, a satisfying plant-based meal that practically pays YOU to eat it (*cue Yakov Smirnoff voice*).

Overall 4.5 stars for us. Beautiful interior with an exotic Arabic vibe. Between the two of us we got 12 items. My favorite were the basted cabbage, oyster mushroom, purred white beans with grapes, and fried olives. All the dishes had nice garlic whipped cream but at the end felt it was too much since all of them had it. Got all three of the breads and would probably just go with the pita if I return. The simit was not authentic at all /nothing like a simit. It was more like an Asian soft bread with untoasted sesame seeds. Wish they offered Moroccan or Turkish tea (unsweetened). Definitely make a reservation if going on the weekend. We waited for an hour on a Saturday night

Wow this place has got to be my favorite of the Overthrow hospitality group! I’ve been to pretty much all of their restaurants this is the best!! Let’s start with service Jada was so warm and attentive in her service. She pretty order for me since I was unsure and every single item just HIT! Jada made my experience at Al-Andalus incredible! The food was all items and flavors I’ve never had before to the point were I was uncertain at first and then I couldn’t stop eating and then I dreamt about them when I went to bed at night! OMG! I brought a friend and a couple days later I brought my husband it was so good. I plan coming back soon to try that Paella! Not to mention the pricing is soooooo reasonable! I couldn’t believe how much food we got and how little we spent! Thanks, for such a wonderful experience!

Came here for a birthday dinner and was not disappointed! The ambience was very warm and unique, the staff were friendly, and we were seated at a semi-private table towards the back of the restaurant. The best part of the experience was the delicious food–we shared a variety of tapas and paella, and not a single dish disappointed. Our favorite tapas were the mushrooms, the eggplant, and the patatas bravas. The paella was also excellent, and the cocktails were fun and served in adorable glasses. I was the only vegetarian of the group, but even the hardcore meat eaters loved our meal! The only caveat I'll add is that each tapa, while priced at or below $10, was quite small. We ended up ordering maybe a dozen tapas plus paella and a few drinks split amongst a group of 6, and spent about $55(?) per person. All in all I'm glad I chose Al-Andalus for my birthday, it was a very special treat.

This place is Lebanese vegan and the spices and flavors are out of this world even if you are a huge meat eater. The sautéed mushrooms taste like you’re eating a ribeye steak! I’ve never tasted vegan like it; it’s to die for! The plates are tapas style and eight dollars, nine dollars, $10 and you have about five or six and share. For two people it was $80 and we absolutely stuffed our faces.

Really wanted to love this place, but food and service (especially service) didnt meet expectations.. decor was beautiful Dishes were slow to come out and came out in a strange order (e.g., bread was the 4th tapas dish we received, dessert came out one by one). Flavor was decent, but not nearly as good as other vegan restaurants in nyc Ive been to - tortilla was burnt / weirdly crunchy, shakshuka came with a tiny slice of bread, papas bravas missing spicy red sauce, pan con tomate not flavorful, eggplant was fine. The shawarma mushroom and rice pudding were phenomenal. Glass of wine and other cocktails were only 4 sips.. super super tiny. Would give food 3.5 Our waiter didnt explain the concept of the restaurant nor greeted us. I know how tapas work but two friends I brought didnt and the waiter didnt explain anything to them even when vocally confused. And, most annoyingly, we were rushed out. They put the check on the table with our dessert which felt quite rude. Andalusian culture is slow, people continue to talk after their meal but this is not allowed here. If you want to rush people out once kitchen closes don’t accept reservations at 9:30-10p

The value here is unbeatable. For fifty dollars you get twelve different dishes to share, and it feels like a feast. Almost everything tastes amazing, with flavors and textures that make you forget it is all vegetarian. The atmosphere sets the tone the moment you walk in, with North African music and décor that make the space feel warm and alive. The staff adds to the experience by being attentive and friendly without ever being pushy. All of this together makes the place a must-visit. It left me impressed and eager to come back.

I had an exquisite evening at Al-Andalus. When I received the email from Overthrow Hospitality that this restaurant was opening I immediately made a reservation because I've been a fan of all of their spots I've tried. It's an intimate and charming restaurant inspired by Arabic and Andalusian cuisine. I love the tapas concept, especially given that the vast majority of items on the menu are $10 and under (including the cocktails!). My friend and I tried nine offerings on the menu and one was better than the next. Ordered: Al-Andalus sangria ($10)- a $10 cocktail is great! This was a nice sangria made with date syrup, rioja and botanical syrup. It came with two dried apricots, a nice touch! Na'na mint iced tea ($10)- our server explained that this was margarita adjacent but it was definitely different, but not in a bad way. Yes, this drink was on the smaller side but it packed a punch. Simit bread ($9)- this was crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The outside was covered with white and black sesame seeds and it was accompanied by vegan feta and a very tasty harissa crisp. It wasn't spicy but had nice flavor. We sopped over every drop. Pan con tomate ($8)- this was my least favorite item that we ordered. I've had plenty of pan con tomate dishes and although the ingredients were high quality, this felt boring compared to the other offerings on the menu. Butter bean crostini ($7)- this was flavorful and interesting! It had butter beans, a generous amount of sautéed cavolo nero kale and vegan nduja. It was a little on the salty side but I really enjoyed it! Fava falafel ($10)- this dish came with two generously sized balls that were crunchy on the outside and herby and delicious on the inside. The accompaniments were fine but weren't super memorable, but I enjoyed this dish. Gem lettuce salad ($19)- this was fresh and the perfect accompaniment for the other items we ordered. The salad was a generous size and had delicious radishes and a zippy dressing. I'd definitely order this again. Roasted eggplant ($9)- the flavors in this dish really stood out! It was sweet from the pomegranate seeds, smoky from the eggplant, creamy from the tahini and fresh from the mint. Cabbage rolls ($9)- these were fine but nothing to write home about. Two rolls were stuffed with rice and served with a vegan yogurt sauce. Regrettably we didn't have room for dessert. I really enjoyed my evening at Al-Andalus!

TL;DR: pricey, but great food and service and worth paying for if you're vegan or vegetarian. The building aesthetic is so cool. From the entry doorway to the interior with "flying carpets" over your heads, to the nice music and spacious tables. This place is not cheap despite the $10 / tapas average. The portion sizes are small so you'll still need about 5 per person so it ends up being about a $50 dinner per person. My advice is to overindex on the vegetable forward dishes: mushrooms, leeks, falafel, and olives. The bread can be skipped. We didn't have space to try the paella and desserts but the rest of the food was good enough that i'd go back for it! That said, it's worth the experience! I'm vegetarian but my date was not and she can be picky with all veg places, but she still loved the food.

Al-Andalus is the newest Overthrow Hospitality restaurant with a tapas concept - which I love, because I love trying a bunch of different things. I really love how their portions (including the drinks!) are small so you're encouraged to try as much as possible. The Papas Bravas, Roasted Eggplant, and Paella were my favorite tapas items of the evening - unfortunately I will say some of the other items were a bit disappointing, but the main start of the show was the Dubai Chocolate dessert - my mom said that this was one of the best desserts she'd ever had. I must also agree.

Fantastic food, service and experience. The place is really well appointed as well. Several dishes stood out and I really enjoyed the smaller portions and flat $10 price per item for transparency and clarity. The confit leeks were spectacular and I really enjoyed the vegan shakshuka. The flavors and decor are inspired by the basque region and this place really delivered!

I came with my family here for a celebration. We are all vegetarian so I thought it would be perfect since we could order anything off the menu, this being a vegan tapas spot. I would say that it still runs the more pricey side for tapas. They recommend ordering 3-5 small plates per person so we did just that including ordering the paella. I would say my favorite dish was the confit leeks but for the small morsels it is $9. Come here for the experience maybe by yourself or with a friend but don't come when you're hungry. We were full by the end due to the spices and oils from the food but I couldn't help but feel as though the savory style of this restaurant wasn't our personal match. Service was very friendly and attentive otherwise, and nearly everything was artfully plated. It was not busy when we were there on a Sunday night at 5pm but since it was small, the place was packed by the end of our dinner. They figured out a lot of different seating options which was creative.

Delicious food, great atmosphere, awesome service. The standout was definitely the Simit, but other great dishes included the Butter Bean Crostini, Patatas Bravas and Shawarma Mushrooms. Definitely looking forward to going again and trying more things!

Terrible restaurant - starting with the dismissive, uninterested waitresses who couldn't be bothered doing their job. They refused to bring bread or water and spent more time preening as if they were at some place special, which it isn't. Food is a mess - a gloppy assemblage of bad mayonnaise, cabbage wraps, small portions and literally thimble glasses for wine. A total waste of time. The place sucks....zero stars

Had such a lovely dinner last night at Al-Andalus. We did the $50pp preset menu which comes with 12 tapas dishes and everything was fantastic! Highlights were the Spanish tortilla, papas bravas, and the simit (feta dip with a sesame bread). The rice pudding and the tarte for dessert were also amazing! We left stuffed to the brim and excited to come back to try the cabbage rolls next time. Whether you've been to many of the other Overthrow Hospitality restaurants or none, this restaurant should definitely be high on your list for new spots to try. The some of the best vegan food in the city!

Went through on a Sunday night I had great service. Food came out fast. Everything was excellent really recommend the eggplant entrée. Simit bread it's probably the best one to go with and it was tasty with the feta but a little dense and dry. Overall, I thought the prices were good. We ordered five through six dishes and was enough to split for two people.

cozy interior design, appreciated the moroccan influenced designs. as a meat lover i did not miss meat at all because of how good the plates and variations are. the service team were super attentive and communicative

Everything about this place is amazing. The interior is beautiful, staff are very friendly, and the food is delicious and not too expensive. The drinks are great too.

AL-ANDALUS is an incredible new restaurant from Overthrow Hospitality, the prolific group behind the top vegan and plant-based restaurants in New York City. This concept focuses on Arab-inspired tapas. There are dozens of small plates to choose from, all 100% vegan and all $10 or less. (There is also one larger paella dish, which can be shared by a table, for $30.) All cocktails are also $10 or less, and come served in adorably petite glasses. The food and drinks were all excellent, on par with Overthrow's other restaurants in the neighborhood. I went twice and enjoyed fried olives, housemade Simit bread stuffed with vegan feta, shakshuka (with vegan egg), patatas bravas, falafel, confit leeks, roasted eggplant, cabbage rolls, and paella. I also loved the Old Fashioned and the Sangria. While the restaurant focuses on affordable dishes, it has an elegant, upscale vibe that is perfect for a date night. They also have larger booths that could fit around 6 to 8 people. I highly recommend giving this exciting new restaurant a chance.

Friendly, welcoming staff who were able to squeeze us in despite not having a reservation. Delicious food -- leeks, mushrooms, tomato salad, all tasty and interesting. Lovely atmosphere.
