Park Royal’s Food and Restaurants Are Built on Asphalt and Man’oushe | Eater London

"Tucked down a small passageway in Acton Business Centre, Al Jabal has changed very little in 30 years: workers roll out thin dough and line multiple man’oushe on a wooden paddle before they crisp and bubble in an intense oven, the process taking only minutes and filling the air with the woody scent of za’atar. Founded by Ridwan Issa (Abu Tarek) after he arrived in 1990, it began as a small industrial bakery supplying restaurants and communities by the kilo, offering man’oushe and fatayer and even accommodating customers who brought their own za’atar mixes; during the pandemic the business slimmed from about 10 staff to two, stayed loyal to its own delivery operations rather than using apps, and remains a community mainstay." - Zahra Al Asaadi

Google
I stopped in and had such a great experience. The food was fresh, flavorful, and full of care in every bite. We tried the chicken shawarma and cheese rolls, both made by hand and absolutely delicious. The real standout for me was the hummus—smooth, rich, and easily the best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu!

Google
Food was fresh and delicious. Place was very clean and Mo was awesome! This is one of our regular spot. We usually get the Beef Kabob (medium) and Beef Shawarma meals. Our daughter loves the hummus. Would highly recommend 👍😊

Sarah H.

Google
Fantastic Food Freshly Prepared Quickly and at Great Prices! Mo helped me out a couple of times and he’s amazing! He has great energy and is very kind and professional. I love Al Jabal - they never let me down.

Google
A must every time I’m in town! Delicious, fresh food, super clean and warm, family owned vibe makes it so welcoming. Highly recommend!!

Google
There wasn't a time where I wasn't impressed with the quality of each and every item. Fresh and unique to any other Arabic food my family and I have enjoyed. Every bite is eyebrow raising smiling good! This place is truly a hidden Gem. You won't be let down. The family here are great people and it shows in the quality of their friendliness and hospitality. There is something special about there hummus chicken, its like no other in the greatest way. I could go on and on really about every bite. Try this place and you'll be back!!!

Google
This food in this place will bring us closer world peace. The shawarma was juicy and delicious, wrapped in blankets of love. As I spread the soft velvet pillows of hummus on my steaming warm pita it was like watching angels laugh and hug in a realm where nothing bad can ever happen. Also the garlic sauce slaps.

Google
Fantastic food and exceptional service. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Ordered shish kofta, grape leaves, falafel and hummus. Everything was excellent! We will definitely be back!

Google
I opted for the mixed plate. I prefer the chicken over the beef. I was disappointed that lamb was not an option. Everything I ordered was excellent. The garlic had a medium level of potency. The atmosphere was inviting, although I did not dine in. The service was great. I intend to return.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Came here specifically to try the SOJOK meat. The customer service was on point. I ordered the Al Jabal sandwich, and of course, why wouldn't you, it's named after the place after all ! The sandwich bread had a wonderful crispy crunch on the outside, but soft later on the inside, the meat was spiced to perfection. The veggie were super fresh. The sauce was amazing. Stopped here in a sandwich flurry to buy a few local bites and review. The flavor of the sandwich was one of a kind and will definitely get back. The toppings and veggies were so fresh. The old owner has returned to this original restaurant he started many years ago, after the person who took over after his absence, didn't manage to keep up the customer service. The new (returned) manager "Moe" was very friendly and outgoing and full of conversation about the owners return to the food game and his claim to fame. Overall a great experience. I will be back to try some more sandwiches, but I'll tell you, the food was incredible. Gotta try them out. Tell Moe I sent yah !!!

Yelp
The boneless chicken is outstanding and the "whole" size is so generous that it feeds our family of six. The baba ganoush has just the right amount of smokiness and their hummus is creamy perfection. So glad to have this place close to home.

Tommy D.

Yelp
Had to stop to get a quick snack on my way home from Walmart and needless to say this place has Excellent customer service and the chicken Shawarma was perfect They said it would be ready in fifteen It was done in seven minutes. Definitely is worth it.

Yelp
I am Rita,love this place,the food is great,been going awhile but,it's my go to,I recommend it,reasonably priced

Rafat M.

Yelp
I got the tabouli and the chicken shawarma sandwich from here and the food was great. The service was fast and timely as I didn't wait too long to get my food. I will definitely be back again!

Yelp
I ordered a Sojok Sandwich which is basically a pita wrap with Sojok as the meat. I had to look up what Sojok was: it is a dry, spicy and fermented sausage consumed largely in thr Middle Eastern and Central Asian regions. It apparently consists mainly of ground meat and some animal fat (typically beef or lamb). Flavor-wise, the wrap was delicious! The pita wrap was slightly crispy but soft on the inside. The meat was thick, super savory with some serious heat and spiciness. The wrap also came with garlic sauce, cucumbers and pickles which added some crunch to the bite. Overall it was a really satisfying meal. I would certainly order it again.

Yelp
Ambiance.... It's very fast food/get a carry out to-go vibes since you walk up to a cash register and order vs being waited on. I've only been once and got a chicken shawarma sandwich. It was delicious! No complaints.
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Meh. The chicken Shawarma was dry and forgettable. The cheese rolls were delicious though so they get this review two stars. I will return just for an order or two of those.

Yelp
Scammed me. BE CAUTIOUS. Ordered 2 Sujuk sandwiches. Instead they decided to give me a ground beef sandwich with no flavor. I called and asked to get the correct sandwich made and they refused. After a while of saying it was the correct food they stated they DO NOT have sujuk at all. It's just beef with seasoning. They also will not refund after their mistakes TLDR They let me order. Then knew they didn't have the meat and proceeded to give me the wrong food anyway They refused to refund or make anything else I would not support such a SHADY business.

Yelp
I Ordered carry out and I was excited to get home to take pic's for my yelp review 2022 (first review was 2016). I was greatly disappointed when I opened the bags and found all my food in Styrofoam containers. I understand to run a business well you need to be cost effective, but with that approach you won't get any exciting free advertising via a patron's yelp reviews, at least not mine. The food is still great! I just miss all those great containers with the see-through lids like the ones in my Bahama Breeze pics. Grant you I could've taken pics of the food with the lids open but the picture's composition would have been ruined by the cheap Styrofoam food containers THE END! no photos

Yelp
I definitely have my favorite middle eastern spots in metro Detroit, so I was curious to try this place out after seeing so many reviews. I ordered the tawook sandwich and it was very tasty/ had good sizes of chicken in it! I definitely felt like it was a great value for the money ($4). I also got the entree of tawook ($15) and to me it was lacking a bit- it did come with two sides but I usually see the meat given with rice always and then with two sides? In this case it came with veggies which Is good if you are trying to avoid carbs. I think at other middle eastern restaurants rice is normally always given with it. That technicality aside the place was hopping when I went in which is always a good sign and the guy at the counter was very nice and polite. Great customer service always goes a long way. The hummus was good, but I have had better. To me it felt a bit too oily as it was super creamy but the flavor was still good. I would come back though for a great tawook sandwich!

Yelp
Shawarma was really good, chicken had more lemon in there kinda a twist A1,but the star was the meat shawarma reminds me of back home. Great experience friendly staff very clean will be back again

Allison L.

Yelp
They will give you the wrong food and tell you that's what you ordered. They do not try to resolve any issues. Very rude staff, would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
google avatar

Jill C.

Yelp
We looooove this place. The sandwich wraps are so good we just keep getting them. My faves are the kafta and the tawook, with just the right balance of meat/veg/sauce and the toasty crispy outside. Let no one hunger for a better sandwich! Hubby liked the one with the slaw and fries in it. For me it was ok, but not as good as the others. The baklava was mediocre... Needed more nuts and honey. The rice pudding was probably good if you like rose pudding, but not for me. But those sandwiches? I dream of them. Choosing between the kafta and tawook is like choosing one child over the other lol. I would come here more if we lived closer. We tried their "Al Jabal" special signature sandwich with olives today and it was amazing, too. Soda is sold in the can. Inside are three high tops, so it's a casual and fast feel. They are family owned and operated, and always super nice and friendly. Also, very very clean. There's not even a trash in the dining area; You give your baskets back at the counter. Try them, and you'll be hooked.
google avatar

Robert Z.

Yelp
Al Jabal has the best hummus and pita I've ever had. I really need to explore more of the menu but I crave that hummus and will stop just for that sometimes. They are quick and fairly priced.

Yelp
In an unassuming strip mall. Very clean inside. Both of the people I saw were wearing hair nets. Entire restaurant seats 8 people. High top tables. You can also get your meal to go. No public restroom that I could see. It was only a little after 10:00 am and the place had just opened. I stumbled across this place thanks to Yelp. It was only a short distance from the lab where I went to get a fasting blood test. I asked what was recommended. The man behind the counter said the chicken schwarma had just finished. I said that would be wonderful. He told me about the sandwich, but I told him I don't eat bread, so could I just get the chicken in a container? He suggested a fatoush salad, but I reminded him I can't have bread, so he gave me the breadless version with that lovely oil and vinegar dressing that is traditional for fatoush. Easier than trying to explain the gluten free concept. My lunch was very good! About six ounces of tender chicken, a generous amount of pickled cucumber & radishes, along with sliced tomato. A side of toum (garlic dip) and a chilled can from their assortment of Coca Cola products. Awesome fuel to make up for missing breakfast. Much more healthy and filling than anything breaded and deep fried from a coney island. Gonna be back if I ever end up near this restaurant again! I recommended it to hubby, who ends up on that side of town for work.

Yelp
Best Lebanese food hands down. Flat out amazing and the people are cool, The chicken is to die for, the hummus is perfect, Falafel is out of bounds delicious. I don't normally write reviews but this place deserves al the stars.

Chief Z.

Yelp
Food is the best. I've been here a few times and I've been getting great service. So polite, and the food is halal.

Matt S.

Yelp
Average to below average. I had a choice of 4-5 places witching a few miles. Took a shot. Called it in and had a 20 minute wait. No on there when I got there. Waited 5 more minutes. Food was ok but not great. I wouldn't go back
google avatar

Marwa C.

Yelp
Their food never fails us! I highly recommend the kof and slaw sandwich and the al jabal sandwich. Their fatoush salad is also a hit! We eat here at least once a month.
google avatar

Genevieve D.

Yelp
We saw the reviews and came to check out the Kafkaand coleslaw sandwich. It did not disappoint! We will be back. Crazy that the sandwich is only $4.99
google avatar

Dawn S.

Yelp
We ate here again the other night, and everything was totally delicious! We ordered 3 sandwiches and a salad, and it was around $18. Such a great deal for the 3 of us, and it was really filling!

Matthew S.

Yelp
Ok at best. Took some time to get the order but I'll wait for good food. Seasoning was just ok. Too Americanized. Fattoush salad was subpar with too many chips and not enough salad. That and bell peppers? Not in a fattoush salad. Kafta sandwich was ok. Not enough seasoning. We got more but I guess I made my point.
google avatar

Cristina L.

Yelp
I love the food here and get it all the time when I'm at work since it's close. I've tried to find shawarma as good as al jabal closer to my home, but to no avail. This place is the real deal. The only thing I wish they had is ordering online via yelp to save me from a phone call to order takeout.

Janet D.

Yelp
I usually stop and get sandwiches from here. Their food is amazing. I have not tried the dinners yet but they're sanding witches are to die for. Especially the chicken Shawarma
google avatar

Kerry O.

Yelp
We ordered 2 meat swarma dinners the meat was dry overcooked and extremely fatty. It tasted bad. 33 dollars later. We won't be back thats for sure. To bad because we liked it. Normally. But it was honestly that bad...
google avatar

Sal R.

Yelp
All I can say is amazing! The food was fantastic and the service was wonderful. The price is extremely reasonable while the food quality is that of a much more expensive restaurant. The atmosphere is very casual. It's mostly a take out place but there is some seating. If you Mediterranean food you need to give this place a try. Enjoy!!
google avatar

Ada M.

Yelp
There good here is just really really good. The only negative thing that I would have yo say is the ambiance, but this particular restaurant seemed to be designed for carry out. So it works well.
google avatar

Suzy K.

Yelp
Most amazing wraps, plates, soups, desserts, at even better prices! The garlic sauce is out of this world as well as their lentil soup! YASSSSSS! I always stop by this place and get a huge order for my parents and their employees - everyone loves it!!!
google avatar

Cindy M.

Yelp
I stopped in for the first time yesterday. I ordered the cold appetizer tray, the falafel and the chicken shawarma and the al jabal sandwiches. Everything surpassed my expectations--the taste, the presentation and the service. I cant believe the price value for the quality of food. I wish you much success.
google avatar

Jacqueline W.

Yelp
Very friendly service, and the hummus was as smooth as fresh butter. The shawarma was a bit dry but the garlic sauce gave it the right touch.
google avatar

Rita S.

Yelp
Sooooo goood. The hummus is the best I tried in mi Shawarma is the house specialty and is worth every bite. Huge amount of food!!!

Kimila M.

Yelp
I ordered a Chicken Shawarma And the small falafel platter it was excellent and very tasty although the chicken was kind of scampi in the sandwich it was delicious
google avatar

Leslie P.

Yelp
This is our new favorite place. The food is delicious. So far, we have enjoyed the shish kofta, chicken shawarma, hummus, baba ghanouj, lentil soup and Oriental salad. Everything was wonderful. The service is friendly and efficient. We have called ahead and ordered at the counter. They have served 100% accurate orders, including special requests. :-) We look forward to trying more of the menu and couldn't be happier that they are so conveniently located.

Yelp
This place sucks when it comes to take out and that's all I gotta say, more veggies then meat.

Marcus V.

Yelp
For a small takeout style restaurant, this place is very surprising when it comes to the quality. I've tried many of their dishes, and have constantly been blown away. Only disappointing thing is, some of my favorites were discontinued (granted this lead to some great new additions). Wraps: Chicken Shwarma / Tawook - both are great, and my wife really enjoys the Tawook Falafel - In my opinion, this is the best falafel wrap I've ever had (and for less than $4, it's hard to pass up) Meat Kabob - very good, would definitely recommend if wanting to try something different than chicken Entrees: Shish Kabob / Shish Tawook / Shawarma - just as good as the wraps, just a bit more expensive, but more food / healthier (since instead of it being meat with pita, it's meat with veggies, salads, soups, etc.) Whole / Half Boneless Chicken - Good but not my favorite (though my parents love it). Grilled Chicken Wings (Discontinued) - brother in laws favorite, with a great sauce. Unfortunate these were taken away. Fish Harra (Discontinued) - Fried Tilapia with a tomato sauce cooked with herbs and spices, then topped with walnuts. This was one of my 2 favorite dishes on their menu. Grilled Jump Shrim / Salmon Fillet - though the Chicken Wings and Fish Harra were discontinued, it resulted in the addition of these 2 options. Both very delicious. Lamb Chops - This is my favorite entree they have, and one of the big reasons I keep coming back / recommend this place. They're smaller than most, but you get a good amount, and they're very juicy. Also, though most places will have 3 chops for about $30, at roughly $20, if you're craving lamb chops, this is definitely the place to try. Sides: With the entrees comes two side. If you're looking for a filler / want to make sure you're full, by all means, go with the rice or fries. If however, you want your sides to be as delicious as the main course, I'd recommend their Fattoush Salad and their Soups (specifically their Lentil). Their Hummus or Baba Ghanouj (though the menu doesn't state it, I've been able to substitute), are also very good. Trays: I've occasionally had some get together's where instead of getting everyone's orders, I've just gotten either the Family or Friend Tray. In addition to getting a ton of food, it also looks great when opening these giant trays in front of everyone to share. A definite crowd-pleaser. Bottom line, the food is really good and it's priced at a great value for what you're getting. The service and family atmosphere you get when walking is also great (even though you're only inside for a few minutes).

Yelp
Great lunch humus chicken baba ganouch. Gave us falafel while we waited! Clean friendly. Will be back! Went back for three other meals and each one was great
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
Best Middle Eastern restaurant around! The fattoush salad, hummus, and shawarma are amazing. If I could eat here every day I would, it's that good!

Rosie Q.

Yelp
They've been our family favorite for ordering out EVER SINCE THEY OPENED. Great people making great food. And they're always coming out with a new menu item that NEVER DISAPPOINTS. We absolutely love their kof and slaw, creamy lentil soup, hummus, shrimp sandwich, and the brand new Al Jabal special!! That's just to name a few. We love everything we've gotten there. The chef is a genius. But they are a very humble bunch, him and his children who run the restaurant. It's ALWAYS a joy going there and picking up the wonderful food.
google avatar

John Z.

Yelp
Excellent food. Great prices. Very very clean. Very nice young girl waited on me. Not sure what they could do better. This is my fourth time here and the food has been consistently great.
google avatar

Em T.

Yelp
Every sandwich is THE BOMB but some serious magic must be involved with the Kof and Slaw sandwich- I'd never heard of such a concoction but maaaan we can never get enough!!! Their baba is SOLID too. I get it every time. Kabob, Sojok, Kofta, Chicken and Meat Shawarma sandwiches were all awesome. LOVE. THIS. PLACE. Update: I had their creamy lentil soup and chicken and vegetable soup. AMAZING FLAVORS!! My 4-year old could not get enough of the creamy lentil. I loved both of them. Cannot wait to get more!!

Nathan M.

Yelp
So amazing! When I come in there I'm always greeting with somebody friendly. I have tried to tip a lot and they refused! Some of the most amazing hard working people in there and they deserve the world! Choose this place over any other likeminded restaurant and you will not be disappointed!

Bianca S.

Yelp
Love al Jabal! Great food always clean very fast service my go to spot when I'm not cooking.
google avatar

Zein K.

Yelp
Amazing food and service . Family friendly place and has many options . Try the. Kafka sandwich . it's very good . Prices are very good .

Chris B.

Yelp
Absolutely the best fattoush I've ever had! Tangy but not too vinegary or oily. I also love the schwarma and tawook sandwiches. They are so good I haven't tried anything else yet.

Haissam A.

Yelp
Great food, great people and always on time. Quality and taste are amazing. I love the hummus and deboned chicken
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome food! Best hummus in the area! A small shop but very clean and everything is so fresh. You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Benjamin T.

Yelp
I love this place! I eat here several times a week and everything I tried has been delicious and generously portioned. The staff is friendly and helpful and the lunch specials are very reasonably priced. No complaints whatsoever.

Yelp
I never noticed this little restaurant before but I'm glad I stopped by! I tried their Kofta sandwich and it was delicious. Great flavor and nice portion for under $4!! I'll definitely be going here again.
