Chef Luigi Diotaiuti’s Dupont mainstay champions Italian regional traditions, housemade pastas, and gracious, old-world service. Recognized by Gambero Rosso and praised by local critics, it’s a stalwart for classic flavors done right.

I stopped in for a solo dinner and was not disappointed. The service was great. Very personable and intimate spot where everyone will greet you by name. The ambiance itself is a bit dated, but that’s part of the old school charm that I personally appreciated. As for the food, I tried two specials of the day. The grilled cauliflower soup was absolutely delicious. The snapper was prepared well but it was a little cold by the time it was served, but the flavors were there. The laganelle, a simple but flavorful dish, was the highlight. The house-made pasta was razor thin but very flavorful, and the mushroom ragu was the right texture and consistency. I will certainly be back to try other items on the menu.

Dining at Al Tiramisu is truly a special experience. From the very first bite, you can taste the freshness of the natural ingredients and the care that goes into every dish. The flavors are authentic, balanced, and crafted with love, reminding me of home cooked Italian meals but elevated with a chef’s artistry. What truly makes Al Tiramisu shine, however, is not just the food, it’s the people. The staff are welcoming, attentive, and treat you like family, ensuring that every visit feels personal and memorable. And then there’s Luigi, the owner, who is absolutely one of a kind. His warmth, passion, and genuine hospitality create an atmosphere that makes you feel not just like a guest, but like part of the Al Tiramisu family. This is more than a restaurant. It’s a place filled with heart, tradition, and joy. I can’t recommend it enough!

Google
The food was awesome. The service was not. I was a single diner and definitely got snubbed. Had to flag the wait staff down several times. They forgot to bring my credit card back after running it... my check was 150. Not worth the service.

Google
Al Tiramisu is a solid spot for Italian food with a cozy, casual vibe. The pasta dishes are flavorful and feel homemade, and the tiramisu lives up to the name—rich, creamy, and satisfying. The staff was friendly and helpful, though service was a bit slow at times. Still, it’s a dependable place for a tasty Italian meal, and I’d come back to try more of the menu.

After having our mouths burnt at alfredo the pizza place beside this , we randomly went here to Al Tiramasu. The place was small, cozy and have good ambience. The staff are friendly and are really knowledgable about food. They gave me and my friend a fine dine-in experience. I ordered lobster an my friend was vegeterian. We really had a good experience here with food. And even the olive oil they give with bread was really good. I spoke to head chef and owner and he is also really nice. they also got good deserts which we wanna try next time as we are already full!! Me and my friend decided to come here every two weeks.

Google
Wonderful atmosphere. Small restaurant with GREAT service. Loved the presentation of options. Wine was amazing! And the truffles?! OUT OF THIS WORLD!

Google
Small restaurant with great food and service. Don't take chances - make a reservation! Intimate atmosphere enhanced the experience. Went for Valentine's Day and it was packed. I had the ravioli special and my wife had the lamb. Both were excellent. Had the calamari appetizer. Very unique and unlike any calamari dish I've ever had. It was amazing and worth a try! Service was terrific. Seems like all mature staff and no "kids". Old school feel. It's on the pricey side (my ravioli dish was over $40) but certainly a great place for a special night out.

Google
Good portions and food tasted very good. Very cute intimate place. Service was a little disappointing. After I was already eating I overheard the specials of the night that unfortunately nobody told me about. After I was done with my dessert, 30 mins passed and no one had checked in with me and asked if I needed anything else or the check. I was by myself so I’m not sure if that’s why, because other tables were well taken care of. Spent $80 before tip. No refills on soda apparently since I got charged twice. I would go again if I was in DC.

Yelp
Al Tiramisu is the real deal! Anyone who has read my prior reviews of this fantastic restaurant, will not be surprised by what I have to say here. The food is stellar of course! The atmosphere is at once charming, old world, intimate and exclusive! The staff from Luigi, the owner, to Nadja, the hostess, to each and every server are fantastic. They make me smile, they make me laugh, they make me happy, they make me drool, they serve us in the way they imagine we want to be served. They are - quite simply - the best crew around DC! I hate to brag on this place too much because I want to get a table next time I call but I just cannot keep it to myself. Al Tiramisu is a must-dine-at restaurant!!! If you do not go here, then you should stay home!!!!

Yelp
Al Tiramisu was suggested to us our first evening in D.C. There are about fifty total seats, (two, four, and a couple group tables) so a reservation is needed. We had the burrata and a special negroni to start. The burrata was full of flavor, but the negroni... My wife said it was the best she has ever tasted. I had the special mushroom risotto. My wife had the rosemary chicken. I have had many dishes of risotto, but never so tasty. Numerous tastes graced my palate, (fresh mushrooms, cheese, the perfectly prepared rice). My wife loved the chicken. She said the creamy mashed potatoes were the best she has ever had. I am impressed how many times the words best ever came up during this amazing meal.

Yelp
I booked a table for two via Open Table last weekend during our staycation in Dupont Circle! We had such an amazing dinner. I can't believe I didn't know about this place before. It's so cozy and very romantic. I'm definitely planning to come back soon. They have happy hour. Everyone was so welcoming - from the hostess to our waiter. The food was great! The complimentary bread was delicious. It comes with anchovies - we asked for butter instead. I had the laganelle pasta - so yummy and filling. There's great wine and cocktail options. Now let's talk about the dessert menu! Just wow! I'm not even big into sweets, but the desserts here are worth it. Get the tiramisu!

Yelp
Just enjoyed the wonderful while truffle pasta!!! Fantastico!!! We come here at least every fall for this delicacy! Don't miss this one!!! Our relatives travel to Italy for this one a regular basis and Al Turamisu DOES NOT disappoint!

Yelp
I hesitate to rate this restaurant since it will be crazy if more people come, but it's too good to not say anything. The pasta here is number one. Most are amazing. The mushroom laganelle (very amazing vegetarian), the veal fettuccine is also a meaty option, and the clam pasta is nice and light while being fulfilling. There are so many more, but we'd be here all day if I had to list them all. One of the most amazing ones is the truffle pasta, which is available in winter. The mushroom risotto is also a stellar hit. For meatier options, their steak is well done. Cooked expertly to a nice rare or medium rare, with simple seasonings but a perfect char. Branzino is a nice fish option as someone who dislikes fish. The branzino is flaky and buttery and the accompanying vegetables go well. The servers and the front of house and the chef are always so kind and sweet. Service is lovely and attentive. As for the ambiance, it's a quaint, small restaurant with touches of Italy and it's perfectly quiet for a nicer dinner.

Yelp
Quality Italian cooking in a cozy environment. Their specials are typically worth a good luck, but you'll be satisfied with whatever you end up choosing. The staff is very friendly.

Yelp
That.Was.Incredible. A tiny little spot that you would miss if you weren't looking for it. But it's worth finding! Staff was attentive. Everyone I met looked me in the eye and welcomed me. While the bread with the olive-anchovy tapenade wasn't my cup of tea, the burrata was outstanding. And the orange-glazed salmon was a melt-in-your-mouth delight. By far the best meal I've had this trip!

Yelp
My friends love this place and hit it every time they are in DC. I can see why! The featured cocktail was interesting and great- i had the lobster pasta which was also a special. It was SO good! Lots of lobster and flavorful sauce. Highly recommend Service outstanding. Hit this place up- it's affordable and equally as good as the "fancy" DC Italian places

Yelp
We have been before but quality has gone down hill. Other better quality places for the price point. Service was nice and it's a quaint place but the food just didn't measure up. Went two years ago and it was better but not great back then but thought we would give it another shot. We paid 240 with taxes and tip for dinner of 4- no alcohol and just 4 entrees (2 pastas, 1 calamari, a chicken dish), one expresso, one cheesecake sice and a coke) . They also charge 3 % credit card fee which is kind of ridiculous with their high prices already. The seafood ravioli in lobster sauce was salty ad for 42 dollars, not stuffed very much. The calamari entree had 5 calamari's, 3 zuccini slices and 3 carrot slices for $32 dollars. Cheesecake was crumbly and not smooth but flavor was good. We enjoyed the service and bread but just would not come back again .

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love going out to eat and have pretty high standards. Al Tiramisu is officially our favorite dinner in DC. Everything from the intimate dining room, the food, and the staff were perfect. We will definitely be back!

James M.

Yelp
I truly wonder how long Tiramisu will remain open on P street, We just had a truly horribly dining experience there. The food was OK (just OK) -- but the maitre'd actually came up to us at our table, at 9:15 pm, and asked us to leave the restaurant because they wanted to close. We were still in conversation, with a half-glass of wine on the table, but we were the last and only guests in the restaurant and 9:15. I couldn't believe we were asked to leave, at 9:15, but the maitre de began talking about the "experience" in DC now, National Guard, etc. there were none visible outside). What a truly unpleasant dining experience.

Yelp
Full disclosure: this is less a review than a love letter. For over ten years, Al Tiramisu has been my favorite restaurant -- not just in DC, but anywhere -- and so much more. It's where I have celebrated some of my happiest moments, and where I have found fellowship in times of uncertainty. The people who run it -- from the owner/chef, Luigi, to the longtime manager, Nagia, to the servers and kitchen staff -- are warm, generous, engaging, and passionate about the food they make and the service they deliver. The food itself is simply exceptional. I have tried everything on the regular menu and nearly all of the rotating specials -- always in season. There are no misses at Al Tiramisu, only hard choices. Rather than attempting to catalogue their many outstanding offerings -- a seemingly impossible task -- I will tell you what I recommend now. And I will endeavor to update this review regularly. In June 2025, you should try the taglierini with pesto and the mixed green salad with beets, roasted walnuts, and crumbled goat cheese . The pesto -- light, flavorful, verdant -- is a thing of beauty. I eagerly anticipate its return every summer. In summary: if you love Italian food, you should go here. If you value highly considerate, professional service in an intimate setting, you should go here. If you are in town for the night and want to tell your friends back home that you ate at one of the best restaurants in DC, you should go here. If you want to feel better on your way out than you did on your way in -- not just nourished, but restored -- you should go here. I promise, you won't regret it.

Yelp
Al Tiramisu is an old stalwart of the DC dining scene, and I think it's a very good restaurant, but you might in for some sticker shock. We were a party of four, and we started with cocktails (about $20 each, all very good). For appetizer, we each had an off-menu sampler which had delicious house-smoked duck, grilled calamari, rolled eggplant, and piece of a portobello mushroom, and a wedge of burrata. I loved everything except for the mushroom which was a bit blah. It was a yummy start, but at $25 a head, felt about $10/portion more than it should have been. We found a good bottle of red wine for $120, which was one of the cheaper bottles on the wine list. While not mentioned on the menu, all the pastas are available as half portions which was a pleasant surprise. I absolutely loved my tagliatelle with wild mushrooms; it was fantastic. So was the ricotta gnocchi in cacio e pepe - pillowy, rich, and divine. The lobster pasta, a signature dish, was good but perhaps not a showstopper. Also enjoyed by our table was a delightful ravioli with crab meat. Our "secondi" were the weakest part of the meal. I loved my lamb shank ossobuco which, if anything, was too big, but it was delicious with its creamy polenta and stewed tomato sauce. The ribeye steak, however, was overwhelmed by the truffle butter and not as buttery and tender as was hoped for the price ($48). The branzino was perfectly nice, but could have had a bit more flair. Desserts were awesome. Creamy pistachio gelato, chocolate tartufo, and cheesecake...all very nice. All in all, $850 with tax and tip...mighty pricey for dinner for four. I had a similarly good meal in a very upmarket Milan restaurant last month for about a third of the price. Yes, I know we aren't in Italy, but even by DC standards, this very good restaurant just didn't exactly feel like it was worth every penny.

Yelp
We arrived for an early dinner after a show at the Kennedy Center, the place had just opened but we were greeted right away. We were taken to our table and helped with water right away. When you walk in it has the style of an old small Italian restaurant in NYC. The wall of pictures of famous people eating there hits you right away and has some cool pictures of movie stars. Kinda fun display. Once seated they took our drink order and I went with an old fashioned, shocker lol. I asked for it to be less sweet and it hit the spot. Just enough bitters to cut the sweetness. Also love the full size cocktail ice cube. We then received a very well explained fresh fish of the day presentation. For an appetizer we ordered burrata which came with local honey and truffle "bits". It was very good, extra moist and the add ons were great. The local honey had some salt and spices mixed in which was a great surprise. My entree was the veal fettuccine, the pasta was house made and fresh. The pasta was great and the souse was even better. The ground veal popped with flavor adding a richness to the dish. The sauce was a red sauce like marinara based with a touch of sweetness. Dessert was on its way and we shared mascarpone cheesecake and the, you guessed it, tiramisu. The tiramisu was very good, the flavors were good but I was missing more of the rum flavor. The texture of the top was slightly off, still good but not the best I've had. The cheesecake was very different and good in its own right. It's much lighter than normal cheesecake and had great flavor. It was a little dry so adding a side spice could have helped this dish. Overall this restaurant was awesome, great food, great service, and great ambiance! Cheers!!

Yelp
We stopped in here to get dessert, this is a nice little local Italian spot. You feel like you are dining in somebody's kitchen as it feels very homey. The service was great we got seated right away. They have a nice little patio outside with a couple of tables. We got an order of their cheesecake it was very delicious and filling. I would definitely come back here this makes for a nice date spot or a night out with friends or family.

Yelp
I almost always have a great time here. It looks like a little hole in the wall but it's home to some of the best Italian pasta in DC. They have daily specials and I've never had a bad dish here. The reason I have deducted a star is because the last two times I visited, I felt as though the waiter wasn't being the most friendly and because last time, my date ordered the veal the waiter recommended but received the lobster linguine instead. We didn't want to cause a fuss since the restaurant had been so kind to fit us in last minute, but it was a different level of service than what I had previously encountered. Am more than willing to come back and give it another try! Hopefully it was just because they were busy and not indicative of a more negative trend. Now onto the food - one of my photos features a ravioli stuffed with mozzarella and topped with shaved truffles. I hope they make this a menu item because it was creamy, and absolutely delicious. We ended up eating all the sauce too but soaking it up with our bread. The beef carpaccio is fresh and the lemon and salad add a brightness to the savory beef. All in all, the food never disappoints.
google avatar

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Mediocre. We got the lobster pasta, which was expensive (as to be expected), but did not have much lobster taste. Carpaccio was fine. Service and ambiance are nice -- we did street-side dining -- but cannot recommend due to food.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Was told George Clooney frequents this place. Now I know why. The menu isn't expansive but it sure is delicious. We tried the buratta cheese and the beef carpaccio to start. Amazing flavors. Dinner was salmon - this was the best we have had. Cooked to perfection and outstanding flavors. The risotto was tender and filled with mushroom flavors. The tortellini with goat cheese and eggplant was a nice combination. For dessert the tiramisu was great. The chocolate cake used almond flour which made it a little gritty but it was a nice dark chocolate flavor. The service was impressive. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. The server recommended a white wine that was a perfect complement. Most other customers were regulars. Being tourists It was nice to see. Highly recommend

Yelp
Ok people let me tell you about this incredible place to be at anytime and for any occasions . Privately owned and definitely quintessential service. So I call to say I wanted to order and the owner picked up and told me the restaurant was closed and will open at five. However the owner picked up my call at 4;00 PM and asked what did I need to order this alone was enough for me. He then proceeded to complete my order in a manner never expected from such a famous restaurant. Certainly I was very very pleased with this kind of service and generosity. There are not many establishments who thinks outside the box when it comes to being a part of our business

Yelp
Al Tiramisu is an excellent Italian place we ate at while visiting Washington DC. We did not have reservations, but we were able to eat outside (which was really nice). They have a nice wine list, we had an Italian red. We started with the burrata and the calamari. Both were outstanding. The burrata was prepared just perfect and the honey and truffle bits were the perfect accompaniment to cheese. The calamari was prepared unusually. It was grilled thin and put on a skewer. They tasted great and the presentation was really good. For the main dish, I had one of the specials which was a lobster and spaghetti. This was fantastic. They lobster was nice and fresh, with a good chunks of lobster. The pasta was fresh and the sauce was excellent. I also tried the chicken that was moist and delicious and the gnocchi which was nice with great flavor. Unfortunately we were stuffed and did not have dessert, but this is definitely worth a visit.

Brad H.

Yelp
We never miss a chance to dine here when we visit DC. The food and service are top notch and Luigi always makes you feel at home.

Bob L.

Yelp
Classic tourist trap. Absolutely not worth the money and our hotel later apologized for sending us there. Ambiance: The restaurant is dated and next to a liquor store and subway sandwich shop. You walk down two steps to enter and the restaurant is a long narrow space without any windows. It is very loud and the tables are right next to each other. The large round table in the back is adjacent to an alcove which includes the entrance to the kitchen, the cappuccino prep area and a broom closet that serves as the men's restroom. So expect a lot of traffic running back and forth. It's not worth it for an anniversary or special occasion. Service: spotty as best. Had to request bread, then request butter, then get waiters attention as he ran back and forth to the kitchen. The maitre de tried to upsell us on their wine bottle "special of the day". The whole dinner felt rushed as they focused on turning over the table. Quality of food: it was neither good, nor bad. We tried their appetizer sampler. Nothing was especially memorable, which means their appetizers are not worth the $15-20 if ordered separately. Similar experience with the entrees. The maitre de bragged about their tiramisu as the best in the city. We ordered 1 to share. Classic example of over promising and under delivering. Very disappointing experience.

Yelp
The atmosphere was very nice. As you walk in, you can't miss all the photos on the wall. The service was fantastic and attentive. The price was on the higher end, but not exorbitant like some of other Michelin restaurants. The food was good and much better than I remembered. The presentation was nice. We were served with bread and a special house sauce of artichoke and anchovies. It was great and unique. We loved it. 4*Burrata: Burrata from Salento with local honey and black truffle bits. It tasted very fresh. 4*Anatra Duck Breast with Balsamic and honey sauce: Duck was tender and the sauce was tasty. 4*Agnello Lamb Chops with thyme, rosemary and Garlic: the lamb chops were topped with garlic and tasted great.

Yelp
I stumbled upon Al Tiramisu after attending an event at the Phillips Museum and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious although it was a little bit in the pricier side. I had the lobster linguine special which was flavorful and full of lobster pieces! I tried the other dishes, which were all good. My Kir Royal was not on the menu but came as a recommendation by the waiter (I like sweeter drinks which weren't on the menu). Al Tiramisu is a must try if you're on the area!

Yutao Z.

Yelp
Very happy with our dinner. Didn't have reservation but were seated right away because it was still early, around 6pm. Every single dish we tried was solid - fettuccine with veal ragù, lobster spaghetti, ribeye steak. Tiramisu was very rich and light the same time. Pistachio gelato was my favorite of all three flavors (the other two: vanilla and dark chocolate) Will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Yelp
Had another great visit to Al Tiramisu! The chocolate martini is still the best! I had the mushroom pasta and it was ok. I think ordering from their specials list is usually the best bet. My friend had soup of the day and the arugula risotto of the day and said both are excellent. Still great for those with celiac or gluten free.

Yelp
Excellent fresh pasta and fabulous service. An institution in DuPont Circle. Desserts are to die for as well.

Yelp
The food is outstanding, the airy pillows of gnocchi, the fresh fish, the house made limoncello, every time there is a new incredible dish. I have resorted to skipping the menu and leaving it up to the chef! The service is as if they were waiting for you to come through the door! The ambience is cozy, tasteful and completely different if you sit at the bar or in the dining room. Hands down, the best way to truly taste & experience why we are proud to be Italian.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our dinner! The grilled calamari appetizer was flavorful and novel in taste and presentation. For entrees, both the grilled orata and sautéed soft shell crab were beautifully prepared. Service was attentive and engaging. All in all, we had a wonderful evening.

Yelp
An excellent spot for a quiet yet delicious and fun dinner. Service is great, food and wine are incredible, but it IS pricey $$$$$

Yelp
Authentic Italian restaurant with al dente pasta tucked in a cozy row home. My hubby and I dropped $200 on a wonderful dinner and it was well worth every penny! The Papperdelle mushroom pasta, chestnut soup, housemade limoncello, and Chianti were the highlights. The complementary fluffy focaccia and rustic bread were tasty and served with olive oil and tapenade. Off to a good start! Chianti (5/5) - Enjoyed a couple of glasses of Chianti over the bread and pasta. Perfect pairing of food with wine! Zuppa del giorno Soup of the day (5/5) - The Chestnut Soup was creamy and bursting with flavor. Glad I ordered it! The bread was perfect for mopping up the soup. Worth ordering and saving room for. Scamorza affumicata gratinata su crosta di pane con acciughe (2/5)- Bread smothered with cheese. Fun to try, but very rich and cheesy! I would save your appetite for the soup and main course. Pappardelle Strappate Su Ragu Di Funghi (5/5) - The wide noocdles were cooked al dente loaded with tasty mushrooms. Ravioli Di Caciocavallo Podolico E Foglie Di Bietola in Burro E Salvia (4/5) - Ravioli stuffed with burrata in butter sage sauce is a simple dish which my hubby thoroughly enjoyed, while I preferred the Papperdelle. Sfalde Di Salmone Con Salsa All'arancia (5/5) - My hubby enjoyed the fresh fish. Tiramisu (3/5) - Doesn't quite live up to the restaurant name. It was a bit dry and could use more liquor to make the dessert more moist and less dense. Limoncello (5/5) - The house-made limoncello was a hidden gem, tasty and potent! Fun way to end a meal. Highly recommend! Off the beaten path on P street, worth trekking over for a great culinary experience!

Yelp
We were seated immediately which was nice. We were given dinner menus and my friend was given the wine list. The waiter came by and asked if we wanted a cocktail. He said the cocktail list was on the wine menu. Then he disappeared. We ordered a course at a time and didn't want to be rushed. We split every course so we could try more dishes. We were seated up front near the door and it www noisy. It seemed the back would have been better. I started with a lemoncello martini and it was good. The sardine appetizer was also good and they split it in the back of us which was convenient. The white truffle pasta had a lot of flavor. The branzino main was fresh. A birthday dessert was beautiful and good!!

Yelp
Oh, My! What a restaurant that you must visit when in DC. We leave tomorrow after three days of visiting friends and galleries (and eating too much). We wanted a light dinner. We found Al Tiramisu close to our hotel after touring the Phillips Gallery. The butternut squash soup with a balsamic drip was phenomenal . My double vodka was strong (nice). The frozen custard desert was amazing. It was so good that we finished it before we could take a picture. Service was outstanding and the atmosphere was elegant and quiet for us older folks. We didn't have to say "what?" once. Overall, the selection was excellent. We will come here again!!

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful spot. Recommended by a friend and enjoyed everything. Service was excellent, food was delicious and the wine pairing was great. Made for a very special birthday dinner and would definitely return.

Amanda F.

Yelp
Best homemade pasta I've eaten (and I've been to Italy). Service was amazing, atmosphere was upscale but comfortable. The wine list is beautiful and desert was worthy of the name. We stopped in because it was raining and will now come back on vacation just to eat here again.

Yelp
My mom and I came here and we LOVED it! The service was great and the food was amazing! This cute Italian restaurant is a good place to go to for dinner. We came here on a Sunday and got a couple of their specials. I definitely recommend the pasta with meatballs. Best pasta I've ever had. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I felt like royalty when I walked in and was personally greeted by Chef Luigi! I came here for a late dinner on the recommendation from a colleague. I chose to sit at the bar since I was a party of one. The staff that I interacted with were all so pleasant, attentive, and friendly. I think the Chef's personality is infectious in the best way possible. He is friendly, welcoming, and proud of both his Italian roots, his menu, and the restaurant. I ordered a glass of prosecco (how could you not?) and a half portion of the lobster linguini. Oh-em-gee! Delicious! My secondi piatti was the manzo or ribeye. The online menu says this came with mashed potatoes, but to me it had the consistency of polenta and the taste of creamy parmesan. No matter what, I was sad that my to go box didn't have this item in it because it was one of my favorite parts of the dinner. It tasted so good! The steak was, of course, perfection as well. The butter on top was the perfect finishing touch. I also ordered dessert (I was all in on this dinner!) and couldn't help but go with the tiramisu. I asked if they use rum, grappa, or another alcohol in their tiramisu, and Chef told me they don't use alcohol in their recipe. What's wonderful about Italian cuisine is how a dish can be common throughout the country, but the way to prepare it can differ by region. When we lived in Northern Italy, the region we lived in preferred grappa in its recipe, for example. Regardless, the tiramisu was good. I think next time I would try the Torta Capresa to change things up. The last thing I want to be sure to mention is that they make their own limoncella and call it Luigi's Limoncella. I didn't try this during this visit, but perhaps next time! I noticed they had lemon flavor and strawberry. There was another flavor or two on the shelf, but the type of fruit is escaping my memory at the moment. Maybe mango? Anyway! I definitely recommend giving Al Tiramisu a try. It's a favorite of locals, celebrities, and occasional business travelers like me.

Yelp
Italian is never my favorite cuisine but Al Tiramisu had plenty of options outside of the traditional pasta so it was such a nice experience. We ordered the appetizer sampler to start and the veal meatball was AMAZING! Also got to try a small dish of the Lobster pasta which came with a generous portion of Lobster meat. For the entrée, I tried the octopus which was SO tender but soft at the same time. Definitely recommend!!!!!

Yelp
My sister, myself and the husband came here for dinner during the restaurant week promotion. I would say overall we had an enjoyable time. I really like the ambiance, feels a tad more casual than fine dining but I like that. Like it's not a big deal if I just wanted to pop in here after work. Dim lights and mostly friendly staff. I started with the soup of the day which was the "million pieces of everything". Personally, I loved it, very hearty, exactly what you want on a cold night. Something is try to replicate at home. My papardelle mushroom was also lovely but pretty standard. Others at the table tried the pan fried chicken which was just ok...not their strength by any means. I really enjoyed my tiramisu for dessert...and throughout dinner I was washing everything down with prosecco. Although I had a great time at dinner (because I love the company), I'm wondering if there is a next time if I should just keep it to one dinner partner. While the space isn't cramped, it's fairly close quarters and I was constantly wondering if our table was too loud and interfering with neighbouring table's dinner experience

Yelp
Not the nicest interior but very homey like you're entering someone's basement to have dinner. You are served focaccia and table bread accompanied by an olive tapenade. APPETIZER: Burrata del Salento con miele e tartufo nero $18 burrata from Salento / local honey / black truffle bits *I was hoping the burrata would be really creamy and have lots of truffle flavor but the whole dish fell flat and definitely didn't have the creaminess of a burrata and barely any truffle flavor. The slaw that came underneath didn't really add anything to the dish. ENTREES: Maine Lobster Linguine *This was the best thing I ate and it was because of the lobster not the pasta. The linguine tasted like box pasta, it didn't taste homemade, I'm not sure if their pasta is homemade. The lobster was cooked perfectly and the tomato sauce was very simple and didn't overwhelm the lobster. This menu item is usually listed on their daily specials and I would recommend trying this dish especially if you're a lobster fan. You also have the option to do risotto instead of linguine. Spinach & 4 Cheese Ravioli *Mostly pasta barely any filling, it was like sad deflated raviolis pretty disappointing. You'll still be very hungry after eating this. DESSERT: Tartufo al cioccolato Frozen zabaglione covered in chocolate gelato, hazelnuts and cocoa *this was pretty tasty reminds me of an ice cream version of the ferrero rocher chocolate. *I also opted not to the get the tiramisu because so many Yelpers mentioned it was small and mediocre. SERVICE: Consistent throughout dinner no complaints here, water and wine glasses were always full. The server verbally went through the daily specials, I wish they had them printed out just because there were so many to listen to and remember.

Yelp
Another fabulous dining experience with exceptional service. Truffles are in season and perfect finishing touch on the pasta.

Yelp
I had an amazing dinner at Al Tiramisu last night. I was able to secure a last minute reservation last night via Open Table. I was seated at a cozy small table on the sidewalk. It was a little chilly and their outdoor heater wasn't working. The service and food was excellent! The good came out quickly and the portions were great for the price. I plan to go back again soon because I had a hard time deciding between 3 pasta dishes. Tony the waiter provided excellent service. Great spot for a romantic dinner!

Yelp
Fancy Italian restaurant on P street in DC. It has a big selection of wine. The food was really good and the service was quick. For appetizer I had the grilled sardine and it was prepared perfectly. For dinner I had the ravioli which was quite yummy too. I didn't have dessert though next time I will try the tiramisu!

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place, but the restaurant week menu really let us down! The last restaurants I've been to during restaurant week, would at least have one of their popular items on the menu....this place, NOPE! Half of us ordered off the regular menu! The service was great, our server never let our glasses empty! The restaurant was small and cozy, which I like. Also, intimate, and not noisy, so we were able to have conversation. Restaurant week menu: I got the EGGPLANT ROLLS, which were so so good! I loved them. For my entree, I got the PETTO DI POLLO (chicken dish). I love how thin the chicken breast was, and that it wasn't heavily breaded. The polenta on the side was amazing. Probably some of the best polenta I've had, but the portion on the entrees were so so small I mean if I didn't have an appetizer and desert, I would have left the place hungry still. I never clean my plate, I definitely did this time. For desert, I got the TIRAMISU! This was good, and actually enjoyed the amount of desert they give you. My boyfriend ordered off the regular menu, he got the VEAL RAGU. The pasta was amazing. I just wish this popular dish would have been on the restaurant week menu. Overall the place was good, but I wouldn't need to come back. Portions were too small for the price.

Yelp
We were so disappointed. This place came recommended but it was horrible. The man who sat us who I think was the owner was so lovely but that's where the good parts ended. The food was over salted...all of the food starting with the bread. Our waiter Valentino was rude and even after repeatedly asking for refills he wouldn't bring them. He was inattentive and just rude. The bus boys of people who bring and refill the water didn't speak English so when the waiter kept ignoring us, we tried to ask them but none could understand us. I'd never come back here.

Yelp
After learning that the Clooneys love this restaurant, I knew I had to try it and it didn't disappoint. So cozy and delicious! We started with the special - lamb meatballs in some sort of cheesey sauce. YUMMMM. I got the butternut squash gnocchi - the flavor was incredible, but I would have preferred it a bit more al dente. The portion size was perfect for such a creamy dish. My husband got the special - a lobster linguine (pictured) and it was DELICIOUS. We finished with the tiramisu, which was pretty good too. Man, now I'm hungry!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were craving Italian food and a cutesie ambiance (okay that part was mostly me), so we decided to head to Al Tiramisu for a date night. We made reservations on the phone before heading over and were seated immediately after arriving, which was a relief (given how often it happens that you have to wait for a table even despite having a reservation in advance). We were greeted jovially by the staff there, which made us feel welcome instantly. Once seated, we ordered several things, as follows: - A bottle of prosecco - Pappardelle funghi (flat pasta in a mushroom sauce) - Agnello (a lamb dish, ordered medium rare) - Grappa Caffe (a coffee/brandy drink) - Tiramisu for dessert Pros: + We really enjoyed the food; the agnello was perfectly tender, and the pappardelle was very mushroom-y in the best way (being a mushroom lover myself, I especially liked that they had sizable pieces of mushrooms in the sauce vs. it just being a mushroom-flavored sauce). + The customer service was awesome and felt personalized. The waiters were happy to answer questions/explain dishes anytime we asked, and all of them had a sense of humor/would crack jokes throughout, making the experience more fun for us overall. + The ambiance was cozy and romantic (not anything special, but dimly-lit and we got a corner table so it felt more so this way). + The bread served as a starter - oh my goodness gracious, so amazing! It may even have been my favorite part of the whole meal, come to think of it. We were served two types of bread, and while both were good, the one that was soft and herby (the other was thinner and crustier) had the perfect density and flavor (those herbs went a long way, especially when accompanied with some olive oil). + Speaking of olive oil, the way they served it here was unique; instead of just providing us with a bottle of olive oil, they served it to us as a bowl of crushed olives! Though I'm not fond of olives themselves, I was able to seep my bread into the oil that was squeezed out and getting to have it straight from the source just made it seem tastier and more memorable. Cons: - Be it a restaurant or a store, 99% of the time upselling that feels even mildly pushy is a massive turn-off, which is what happened a bit here. While the service was attentive and recommendations were appreciated, I didn't like that pretty soon after we sat down we felt almost pressured/guilt tripped into ordering wine and/or appetizers, without even having gotten a chance to peruse the menu first. Also, we were charged for a more expensive prosecco than the one we expressly ordered, so not sure if that was a genuine mistake (I'm choosing to give them benefit of the doubt on this one) but it was a bit annoying and made me raise an eyebrow. - Despite being the restaurant's namesake, the tiramisu - which we chose for dessert precisely for this reason, assuming it would be outstanding - was very average. It's the only dessert we got so I'm not sure if the other desserts are better, but I was definitely not blown away by this one. - Our bill came out to be about $160 for two people, which seemed a bit steep given what we had ordered. Though the experience was a nice one, I definitely didn't feel like it was a good value for money; I'd hesitate to come here again anytime soon when there are likely other cute Italian places in the area with good food, good service, and better prices. Sidenote: Since this was a last minute decision, we went in what we were wearing already and definitely felt a little (read: more than a little) underdressed. Most of the people seated around us were double our age (not a bad thing at all, just an observation) and dressed to the nines (a lot of suits and blazers and then a few button-downs sprinkled in here and there). Will certainly fancy up a bit if I decide to go back sometime!

Yelp
This is a very good restaurant but for me best part was the staff. Great team, very engaging and great fun. A popular venue for great Italian cuisine but oddly they do not serve tiramisu!!.
