My friend invited me out for a bday lunch, and I picked here! It was close to her work and my work, and I've been a long fan of the Montrose location. I had no idea there was a second one. And it's not lesser to it's original, like many second places can be. It is just as delicious across the board.
Food and Drink: My faves are the beef kofta, their potatoes, fried okra, and cauliflower. I love their mint tea too, but it's a bit way too sweet for me (at both locations), and diluting w the non-sweet tea also dilutes the wondrous minty flavor as well as whatever the pretty is in it too. There seems to be something pretty in there. Rosewater? A certain sweetener? Pretty is the right word for this flavor. So know, these are all the same wonderful qualities at this location. The round bread is good too.
Tip: Your vegetarian friends won't feel treated like an afterthought here. This is a great place for them. All my vegetarian friends rave about Aladdin when I've picked this place for dinner. It's so satisfyingly friendly for both carnivores and vegetarians.
Service: Still same good service. Unfortunately, I arrived in gym clothes, bc I had just done a last minute subbing of a pilates class. My plans to change clothes before the lunch were curtailed. So, I was quite uncomfortable arriving in what might be immodest attire in Muslim culture. However, the staff seemed okay; No sign of being affronted.
Ambiance: It is the opposite of the Westheimer location. It is bright from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Sitting at the windows is actually too bright to me. So, my friend and I sat closer in. Also, it is airy and feels contemporary.
Parking is okay.
Gets crowded fast for lunch. Crowd varies from casual to office.
This is now going to be my regular spot for all things Aladdin bc it's right beside my Tuesday work! Love it! Feeling so lucky for it :D Going to surprise my friend who use to live in Israel. She loves this kind of food too.
