"Alamo Drafthouse, a Texas-based movie theater chain that landed in Chicago in early 2023, is channeling its Pride efforts toward fundraising for national LGBTQ mental health nonprofit The Trevor Project with optional donation add-ons to ticket purchases in June (Alamo will match donations of up to $5,000). A Pride Month film lineup includes Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Friday, June 9; The Birdcage and The Mitchells vs The Machines on Friday, June 16; and Rocketman on Friday, June 23. Its bar, Video Vortex, is also featuring a Pride cocktail menu with a portion of proceeds also going to The Trevor Project." - Naomi Waxman

Alamo Drafthouse is a catchy and cute theater. It's a solid theater. It's prices are competitive with everybody else, but they have more to offer. Alamo Drafthouse is a theater in a restaurant and a bar Each theater has about 10 rows of seats, with recliners. The recliners have their own table, with two cup holders. Anytime you want to order something, you write it out and press a silent doorbell, and the waitress comes and picks it up. The food is really good, better than any theater food I've ever had. For example, their fried pickles are always well done. Every bright is full of crunch. The meat lovers Pizza is excellent. Play 27 year old son and I have split them the prices are theater prices, but you are getting more for your money and way better taste. This place also has a bar, a lounge, and a video rental.

This place was awesome. The nostalgic atmosphere brought joy to my heart. Being 43 it really brought back so many memories. The food was great even though they took a long time bringing my fiance her chicken sandwich lol but it wasn't a huge deal. On top of that we had to leave early due to a family emergency. With that said I can't wait to go back. Looking forward to seeing the new Jurassic Park film when it drops.

Went to see Stitch movie and it was an amazing experience, the place was quite and the personal were really nice ,thank u so much. The seating is very comfortable, and the sound effects in the room are very realistic. They don't force you to order food, which was a relief because I haven't been feeling well these days. I highly recommend this theater, u guys now have a place in my heart, thank u for your kindness 🙏

We typically go for a movie on Tuesdays when the Cubs aren't in town so we can find parking in the area and movies are half price on Tuesdays. Word to the wise, if you want to maximize your dollars and have a Costco membership, Costco sells $100 gift cards for $75 and that makes half priced Tuesdays even more affordable. Love the theaters, the beer selection and the service here. Also at the bar area they play decent music and not a bunch of country music like the rest of Wrigleyville (Wrigleyville is almost all country bars now?!). To each is own on the music, but I just can't stand country music Lol! Anyway, they don't play a bunch of country here at that is something I appreciate. The food is good for a theater, maybe a little on the pricey side but it's delivered to your seat without disruption to the movie. The patrons here are also pretty respectful of the quiet no phone theater policy. We only had one experience where someone left their ringer on and got a call (some people just don't understand etiquette). I recommend getting the chicken strips or cauliflower wings in buffalo sauce. Bottomless popcorn as well.

Google
I've been to a couple of showings here and each time I still marvel at how luxurious it is to have a seat that actually reclines, which makes lengthy movies more enjoyable. I've only ordered food one time before, but it's certainly a good lunch or dinner option if you want to combine a meal with a movie. The bar at the entrance to the theater has never had more than 1-2 people sitting there when I've visited, so if you show up early you can also drink and get really fast service.

Nostalgia can sometimes be a dangerous drug; imbuing our days of halcyon with a fondness and reverence they do not deserve. Luckily, no such problem exists at the Alamo Drafthouse Wrigleyville location! This theater is absolutely wonderful. Whether you're looking to watch the latest blockbuster while enjoying your popcorn or if you're hoping to catch that gem of a small film with limited release that multiplexes simply don't have the room to show, the experience at this theater is sublime. Its wonderfully irreverent yet meaningful decor makes you feel right at home for those of us in certain age, but also, is very welcoming two younger patrons. On top of all that, their food is just as eclectic and amazing as their films! The people bringing you your food are kind, courteous, and quick. I know that other people received orders during a fun throwback film(read the information on the website to find out more about these amazing experiences) but honestly I don't remember anyone walking past me even though I was in the middle of the aisle! I cannot recommend this place enough and I'm looking forward to their Halloween showings. Their films lend them credibility as a top rate movie theater but the staff, service, and atmosphere they create elevates them to something more than just your average Multiplex. At the risk of being pretentious, this is a movie theater and I go there to see films. However, I am entirely excited about seeing Twister there soon!

I love coming to this location, it’s only a hop, skip, and a jump from the dispensary. I always run into the delightful Sarah - my absolute favorite of the staff. She is very friendly and thoughtful, she was able to recall details of our last interaction. Such a Great help, thank you Sarah and thank you Alamo Drafthouse

Google
I was very disappointed with my experience at Alamo Drafthouse. The food was awful — served in just minutes, cold, burnt, and clearly not fresh. Some staff were polite, but others were rude and unprofessional. I was even threatened with removal for whispering briefly and discreetly using (dark mode)texting my family, while a man next to me laughed loudly through the movie without issue. The inconsistent enforcement of rules felt biased and uncomfortable. My family and I ended up leaving early because of the poor service, unedible food, and the unfair treatment. Definitely not the quality or environment we expected.

Yelp
Great spot in Lakeview! Only thing is that the movie is a little distracting with all of the service. The servers were very great though and the movie seats were awesome with the full recline! You can reserve ahead of time as well. You can also get drinks here for a fun date night!

Yelp
Okay this two stars might seem harsh but after spending 300 dollars total over my trips, I think I can safely say this place misses the mark on satisfaction. The staff are too nonchalant and stoned to be attentive (which is fine but if I'm paying a nice tip, I'd like my server to remember my order and they've forgotten my order more than three times and then blame the cooks) The seats are fine but they're less comfortable than the recliners at AMC and paying 10 dollars for validated parking just adds to the pain in the butt. It's a decent place if you're going there for free but for how hard it is to get to in the city and for how expensive it is for how generic the food and lackluster the service is, you're better off using AMC A-list until Alamo justifies its price.

Yelp
Very comfortable, reclining chairs! Ease to find your seat. We purchased our tickets online, way ahead of the movie. We arrived 15 minutes before showtime, so we had enough time to order food and drinks. Waitress explained the menu, and the ordering process. They made it very simple for us, movie watchers, to get everything fast enough, so we can enjoy the movie. Before we ordered, waitress took a credit card from us to retain the numbers for easier handling orders even during the movie. She entered our order into the IPad, and the order went straight to the kitchen. Before we blinked, our drink was already served by another waiter, and soon after that, we received our food too. If we needed anything during the movie, there was a silent button we needed to press and the notification was sent to the waitress, who took a paper slip, what where we wrote down our additional orders, refills ... So it was pretty easy! Soft drinks had unlimited refills! The Grilled Chicken Sandwich with fries was decent. I was hungry, so I ate it all! The movie theater was not very big, so all seats had good views. The announcement was pretty serious about turning off the phone ringer, and prohibited texting, and all kinds of phone related things! Also, if you plan to go to Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, make sure you arrive on time! There is no late entry!

Yelp
Movie theaters are usually cheesy constructions that come across as fake. Alamo Drafthouse is a smart interpretation of an art house with tongue in cheek marketing. This location in Wrigleyville, which has turned into little Schaumberg due to the Ricketts and the theatre is in a new building on the third floor. There is parking for $10 for four hours. Everything feels new. There is a bar, and a space to buy DVDs. There is no candy counter. Theaters are small with reclining seats. You order from a menu alcohol it soft drinks, popcorn, and fast food choices. Staff take your order and you get the bill after the movie. The staff are friendly and even funny. Download their app for a more integrated experience. Overall Alamo Drafthouse is a welcome addition to the city.

Yelp
My film friends have been talking about this theater opening nonstop and so I finally showed up to a big... meh. C-? In fact, wasn't great and for me certainly didn't stand out from other theaters. We went to see American Fiction, which was smart and funny and definitely worth it. But the Alamo experience: For some reason, I really thought this would be a big, cool space with bar and video store and 80s memorabilia. That's all there... but it's sorta tiny on the third floor. Mostly a bar and hallway with theater entrances. Some cool tube TVs and a french poster of Ferris Bueller, but while I'm positive film nerds would like some other things (and just seeing VHS tapes is a cool), I wouldn't just come hang here. We stopped for a beer at the bar first, and the bartender seemed a bit inattentive and new. Alamo Draft house says they love their craft beer, and while the list is solid and features standard local stuff (Revolution, Half Acre, Off Color), there wasn't anything a beer lover isn't going to get at many bars throughout the city. Bartender seemed a bit spacey in terms of service. Handed us a can for one order even though we ordered off the draft list, and when we asked, just said the menu was out of date. In that case, you usually ask before delivering the order. Theater seats are big and comfortable. You order from a printed menu, which was an interesting choice in a dark theater. How about QR codes and phones which are backlit? I'm guessing to keep phone usage from interrupting the movie, but once it's dark you may be down to your phone flashlight anyway. You press a button to call the server. Our guy was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately, we heard the food was good here but... it was rough. Caesar salad felt like a bag salad. We ordered it with chicken.. but it was delivered without it. Was still billed for it so had to talk to staff afterwards to get it corrected. Pizza was fine, but giving "Jacks frozen pizza". Wouldn't go back for it. Maybe folks are saying, "it's good for a theater?" so lower standards, but if this was just a restaurant, I wouldn't return. Saw some reviews that complained about sound problems, but our dialogue was crisp and sound was great. Mens restroom was dirty and trashcan overflowing with paper towels piled up and on the floor. They make a big deal about how they enforce a no phone / no texting policy so folks can enjoy the movie, but the woman sitting next to me was glued to her phone throughout all the warnings to put phones away, and a server was even talking with her. I eventually was able to move a seat away. That's the scoop. Coulda been 2 stars, but with only one experience, I give the benefit of the doubt. Don't hate it, but won't be going out of my way to show up here.

Yelp
Man I didn't even know that this place existed until October of this year. The Queen and I love seeing scary movies in October and discovered that the Alamo was showing a slew of them throughout the month. I had never heard of this establishment and would soon learn that they are other locations throughout the US. First let me say that it is located in the heart of Wrigleyville, so while there is street parking, you might not want to go there on a game day. The theater is on the 3rd floor. When you step off the elevator, you walk into a large open area with seats and there is a bar in the front. This is also where you check in. The Alamo has its own app, so you can just scan you tickets to get in. The lobby and hallway is filled with a lot of cool movies posters of old movies, a lot in foreign languages. There is also a section in the lobby where you can rent DVDs, if that is your thing. The theaters themselves are small, less than a 100 seats and I love that. The seats recline and have temperature controls. What sold me was the fact that I could order food and drink from the comfort of my seat. The menu is pretty solid. I have had the Royale with Cheese (Tillamook cheddar, beef patty, smoked bacon, caramelized onion, lettuce, tomato, lemon-garlic aioli, toasted seeded bun). This comes with fries and it was very good, fresh and hot. The Doctor and The Queen got the pizza and the quesadillas during the times we have gone, and both said it was good. They also loved the Churro Popcorn (fried churro pieces, popcorn, real clarified butter, tossed with a custom blend of cinnamon, sugar, maple, & vanilla). I am not a big fan of popcorn, so I can't speak on it beyond the pieces of churro I had, and those were great. I wish I could just get those whole instead. I love being able to get a bottle of bubbles while watching a movie. And they also have the sweeten bottomless ice tea. Cocktails are also pretty good according to The Queen. She also recommends, highly, the salted caramel shake. In the month of October, we came here five times to see Halloween movies. The Queen went back in November to see Five Nights at Freddie's and I may go back to see it with her. In December I am going there to see the new Willy Wonka movie. Hmmm, can you tell I like this place?

Yelp
Finally got to check out this gem of a theater recently & was so happy I did. Came here for the new Hunger Games movie & while the film itself was just okay, I really enjoyed my experience here. They had me at popcorn with ghee. No, really... they did. "Movie theater butter" isn't butter & this place knows that. (They also had my friend who proclaimed he didn't want any & suddenly ate half of my bowl. As it was free refills, I was fine with this & I was shocked when he considered we should get more.) I arrived earlier than expected - my fault for not realizing I was almost an hour early. Staff was pleasant since it was my first time! It was a chill vibe waiting & even better once inside. This isn't your typical movie theater & I was immediately obsessed. Seats were cozy! We ordered our snacks early & I'll say it again, best popcorn ever. Menu was impressive. It's important to keep in mind, they serve food during the show. So yes, you'll see staff bringing food to others. They're as quiet as possible & I felt they did their best to get in & out quickly. They do encourage folks to order early. I also appreciated the early showtimes offered. Oh & the bathrooms were clean. Will I be back? Absolutely! It's been ages since I've had such a great time at the movies & can't wait to have more popcorn. Thanks Alamo!

Yelp
What a vibe. I was invited here for the Yelp Elite event and they were showing Ferris Buellers Day Off. it's a classic and I hadn't seen it yet so was very excited! They have trivia nights often so definitely check that out if you like trivia. The seats were super comfortable. And they had a table you could pull towards yourself while you've reclined completely so really the perfect lounging / movie watching experience. Drinks were great and we got some nice popcorn as well!

Yelp
I wanted to get some good popcorn with real butter and just knew this place had it (and parking) I like a movie theater where you have assigned seats and can order food. There are many pluses- Parking where you just walk into the theater Hot food served to you in your seat Really cool previews that are themed around the movie being shown The minus and honestly it's just Chicago in general is parking I love that there is parking but it shouldn't be $10 once validated. It should be like $5. The movies are always expensive to go to and that extra $10 is just annoying. Anyway, the place is nice and clean and the unlimited popcorn with real butter will have me back (but they can keep that iced tea!)

Yelp
We made it!!!!! This place is super cool and affordable. This place is filled with movie classics and can definitely make you remember some old favs. Thank you Tony for making sure my daughter and I made it at the last minute for Equalizer 3. We made it by a fraction - YOU MUST BE ON TIME FOR THIS PLACE, they strongly encourage patrons to arrive 30 minutes early. The cheese-sticks were amaaaaazing and the wings were amazing as well. To order you just review the menu from your seat, post your card up on the cardholder and press the call button for the server to appear. They take the card, fulfill your order and bring it to your seat. Before the end of the movie, your check is brought out, you pay, the transaction goes very smoothly. This is a place you really have to check out, very affordable too. Two tickets for under $25, win win!

Yelp
My first time at the Alamo Drafthouse in Chicago! It was a nice time. Comfy seats, good veggie burger, reasonable ticket prices, and decent service. My only complaints are: - We got there early so we wouldn't have to eat in the dark, but the server didn't come back until our entire row had their orders in. It was 10 minutes of waiting, and I was one of the last to get food. - Soda is more than beer. $8 for bottomless. I don't need bottomless, just wanted one glass. Other than that, it's a good time.

Yelp
First- the good! The staff that works here is really nice and they do a nice job accommodating you without disturbing the movie. The chairs are comfortable, they play a nice variety of movies and the food is surprisingly good! So why am I giving them 2 stars? Well, because in the year 2023, when seemingly all films aren't mixed properly and it's impossible to hear dialogue even if you have great hearing, they don't provide captioning devices. They said they provide open captioned screenings but when you go to their showtimes for open captioned screenings, it says "Sorry! There are no shows scheduled in at the moment." I've checked this page daily for a few weeks and it hasn't changed. I have not so great hearing but I love movies! Why is there no accommodations for hard of hearing guests? I've used captioning devices at MUCH crappier theaters! I actually bought their unlimited monthly pass for the summer because of the variety of different things they show here but I will not be continuing with it going forward. I hate that movie theaters are dying out but when I can stream something with subtitles, the choice is clear.

Yelp
I came here for the brunch service and was very pleased. Watched the Color Purple and cried my eyes out. Luckily Alamo has these lovely cushy reclining sofa chairs that you can sink into as you silently weep. The staff is great - attentive, helpful, and super quick service. They had a few specials when I was there and I chose to go for the breakfast tacos. But here is the step up - the spicy habanero Bloody Mary! Oh my goodness, it was hearty, with a spicy kick, I could've had several of these (maybe I did...). Will definitely be back!

Yelp
This is my favorite movie theater in Chicago! I usually come on discount Tuesdays, where the tickets with tax are around $10. I think the prices normally are still cheaper than what you would get at an AMC. The recliner chairs are super comfortable and the service is also really fast! I usually get the cauliflower bites with sweet gochujang which is so good and crispy. The prices for the alcoholic drinks are not bad at all, but $8 for a diet coke threw me off. It is kind of hard to find as it is on the 3rd floor of a building and there is a UFC gym right underneath!

Yelp
We had the most amazing Mother's Day outing at Alamo. For the nostalgic, the lover of movies, the seeker of comfort and simple pleasures; THIS IS THE PLACE. The entire team was friendly, helpful, communicative and made our first time navigating the finer points of the experience PERFECT. Deets: 1/the beer was ice cold and they had an amazing selection of draft, bottles and cans. 2/food, delish. This is not Michelin food folx, but it is damn good causal fare and the chicken tenders we fresh, fat and juicy. Better than my own. 3/popcorn in a metal bowl, yes please. 4/overstuffed recliners with a table and plenty of spots to put your things with an unobtrusive light to allow you to see your food. This is an elevated movie experience built by and for folx who love a chill night at the movies. I had marvelous time and will be back again.

Yelp
For Sunday afternoon, we decided to go see a movie. We decided to go to the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. So glad we came here! For the movie, we chose Ant-Man. I found the newest Marvel installment entertaining. However, I found the Alamo Drafthouse amazing. I liked how the decor centered around the John Hughes movies. The 80's VHS theme brought back so many fun memories. I loved the posters that decorated the hallways. The movie theater featured staff bringing food and drinks to your seat. This made the dining experience even better. The wait staff explained the service. The food tasted delicious as I ordered the impossible burger with fries. Joseph ordered the fish and chips. For the free refill service which cost $7.95, I thought it being a bit expensive. Overall, I really enjoyed myself in this theater.

Yelp
Big Alamo supporter. I had season pass in Tempe,AZ before it closed down. I also frequented the Gilbert,AZ and Omaha,NE location. I was so excited when I read Wrigleyville location was coming. As a big cinema fan, I was easily ready to release my Regal pass for an Alamo pass. So let's start with what they got right. 80's VHS retro theme is so dope. I was in all the feels for seeing my beloved era of movie watching. I was very impressed that you could rent movies too. I stilll have VCR so that is a plus. What I was unclear about was when the movies would be due back. Bar is super clever and lots of brews and custom drinks. I was alittle shocked by price of unlimited soda at 7.95. That made me drink water. Even at 3 refills that is steep. The popcorn was delicious as ever with real butter. So good. That is also unlimited and worth the price as you can share. Now I usually order the Royal Burger with side of fries. Hmm burger good, but fries super cold. Annoying. My husband got fish & chips...his fries were cold and fish was poor quality. He sent it back. We saw other people that had plates of untouched food...so kitchen has some work to do. This location is prime with attached garage and plenty of bars and food venues near by. Parking is validated for reduce price of $10 for 4 hours. If you enjoy swanky theaters with a funny sarcastic vibe come here. I like that this is a theater for adults. Kids can come but really the are encouraged to stay in their lane and just hit kiddo movies. This was a great way for us to spend Valentine's Day. Movie, Dinner and Drinks.

Yelp
This theater has become our favorite in the city (as long as there's no at home Cubs games). The nostalgia of this theater is great. The bar is lovely, the bartenders are all cool and make good drinks. I thoroughly enjoy the full bar/food service while watching movies. The food is also solid; the unlimited popcorn is always good(don't forget the clarified butter), my husband always gets the chicken tenders, he loves them. I've gotten the breakfast club a couple times and that's really good too. The servers are always friendly and helpful as well. Parking in their lot is super convenient, it's $10 w validation. Honestly, considering everything Alamo offers, it's really not overpriced for a movie watching experience. The price of tickets is comparable or even cheaper than other theaters, and the ability to get yummy food while watching movies (yes the food is a bit overpriced, but that is to be expected in a movie theater) can't be beat.

Yelp
I wasn't sure what to expect with this place. We need another fancy theater in this area like I need a hole in my head like John Dillinger in Public Enemies. Still, I was impressed by this place, especially the setup and food. I got there a little early, but they have a pretty sweet bar. However, if I would have based the experience after that, this would have gotten 2 stars. The place wasn't very crowded (I had a late movie), but it took forever to get service. One of the bartenders just plain up ignored me, but the other was super apologetic. I went with the HDMI Tai as that was one of their signature drinks. I'm sorry to say that it was pretty terrible and sour. Like clockwork, my theater opened 30 minutes before and was given the rundown. Write your order and press the button. I went with the Berbere spiced wings which was on special. I hope they keep them because they were excellent. I finished up with the freakin cookie shake which might have been the best dessert shake I've ever had. The doughnut holes and churro were excellent. I was expecting a little more shake as it seems like the churro took up a lot of volume. I also went with the bottomless iced tea which was a good choice. They forgot to bring it a few times, but it's only day 2 in operation. They also validate parking, but the garage isn't accepting it. That's a whole other problem kind of outside of Alamo that I'm working on. Am I going to come here for every movie? No, but I will be back for their special viewings of movies. I bet they do a good Rocky Horror show. The prices are not bad for Wrigley and the food is pretty good. That sounds like a thumbs up from me!

Yelp
Came to the Alamo instead of our regular theatre because we got a coupon in the mail for buy one entree, get one free. We decided to come for Oppenheimer because if we are seated for 3+ hours, might as well have the "elite" experience promised by Alamo! Unfortunately, it fell short. First of all, the women's bathroom was nasty. There was shredded paper towel and toilet paper EVERYWHERE, and all the stalls had wet floors. The counter with the sinks was totally flooded. The kind of wet where if you accidentally lean forward, your shirt will be wet for the next hour. The trash was overflowing and there was no paper towel, so everyone used the hand dryer. I assume this is what contributed to paper being blown all over. I totally understand short staffing, etc, but we were here for newly 4 hours and it never got swept or restocked. Just a 5 min sweep would have done wonders. Second, remember our coupon for buy one entree get one free? The whole reason we came here? Well the coupon has a picture of one of their sandwiches on it, so I ordered a sandwich as my entree. Only to be told that it only included the three (3) things listed under "entrees" - chicken tenders, fish and chips, or fried cauliflower. But they were out of fish and chips and cauliflower, so our coupon for getting any meal on the menu suddenly became "buy one chicken tenders get one free". The chicken tenders and fries were at least good, and the hatch chili gravy was good, but I was disappointed with the false advertising. Third, the "write it, raise it, push it" slogan is dumb. You're not raising anything? You're just putting a notecard at the front of your table and pushing a button? That's my complain for corporate, lol. There are some positives! The staff was knowledgeable and helpful, and they were super good about taking orders and delivering food and drinks without blocking the screen or distracting everyone. The 80s retro theme was well done, and I loved the Ferris Bueller car. The bar menu looked pretty big too. Overall, I didn't specifically dislike the cinema or feel like my movie going experience was ruined. It's just that the Alamo promises an elite experience, when in reality it's just another movie theatre except instead of waiting 10 minutes in line for popcorn, you wait 10 minutes in your seat. I really hope they can staff up and work out the kinks, because it is a good idea, especially for long movies.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Aside from being a movie theater they bring food/drink to your seat, and - the video bar offers rentals to take home! Everything we ate and drank was delicious. They even curate and project a fun pre-show while you get settled into your seat and place your order before the feature film starts. Staff was super friendly. I will say they have some kinks to work out but we literally went on their second day open, they still have a corporate trainer on site. I will be a regular here for sure, great add to Wrigleyville!

Yelp
I've been here several times for movie and dining and never had a bad experience. This review is focused on what I had last. Their buffalo wings and fries were sooo legit!!! The wings were covered in buffalo sauce that's bold in flavor and more tangy and spicy. Their fries are better than some burger bars I've been to in Chicago. The alamo salad bowl is also really good if you want to opt for something lighter and more leafy.

Yelp
This Alamo Drafthouse is the first to open in Chicago & I should mention, I used to live in Austin, where Alamo Drafthouse was founded, so I had very high expectations of this new location as the Alamos in Austin were my favorite movie theaters that I would go to very frequently. The movie theater & chairs were great and comfortable and the theme of the Alamo was very clever & nicely decorated! It's just the waiter & service we had that was not up to par with the other Alamos I have attended. Usually we sit down & have our tickets checked & our orders taken. The waiter came very quickly however didn't check our tickets, so he noted our seats incorrectly & all our orders kept going to the incorrect seats. The food was good, but we're used to having a last call ~30-40 minutes before the movie and our checks ~20-30 minutes before the movie ends. Neither of these happened and when we did get our check when the movie ended, the waiter charged us for two drinks, when they're supposed to be bottomless. We waited quite a while for him to correct the check (because he had so many other checks to fix). We also weren't the only ones who had something wrong - the girl next to me asked for no onions on burger (even wrote it down) & there were still onions & the other people next to us had ordered cookies that never arrived. Since they're a new place, I understand they're still trying to figure things out, but compared to other Alamos that run a tight ship, this was not a very good experience I had at an Alamo. Hopefully next time the service will be better.

Yelp
Great place to watch a movie, worth a trip to Wrigleyville! I grew up in Austin, TX and my friends and I went to Alamo Drafthouse regularly. The Chicago location has the same charm and is the best place to watch a movie for cinephiles! I love the decor, the pre-previews, and the multiple reminders for people to be quiet during the movie! The seats are comfortable and the system they have to order food/drink is pretty straightforward. They can take your order before the movie, give them a card to put on file. If you want to order anything during the movie, right it down on paper, put the paper on the slot in front of your chair, and press the button. Someone will come by to pick up the paper and your order will come out shortly! Before the movie ends, they'll automatically run your card and bring you the bill to sign. They have a great beer menu, full of local brews on draft. We had the breakfast tacos off the brunch menu and the chicken tenders off their regular menu. it's a little weird to eat food in the dark and not know exactly what your food looks like, but the chicken tenders tasted great! The breakfast tacos were not particularly good and pricey for their size - 2 small veggie breakfast tacos with chips for $15. I wouldn't recommend the tacos, but do recommend the chicken tenders. Validated parking in the garage for only $10. Definitely a nice way to spend the afternoon. We'll be coming back!

Yelp
I've been here twice now, and both times were fantastic. They have multiple theaters and show mostly new movies, but some advertisements mentioned older movies being shown there also. The theaters have extremely comfortable reclining chairs. They have an extensive draft beer selection, and although I haven't tried a cocktail there yet, the cocktail menu looks great. You can arrive early and hang out at the bar and then bring your drink with you into the theater. In addition, you can order food and drinks to your seat in the theater. I haven't tried the food yet, but it's a full menu. You can have just snacks or dinner. You can buy your tickets online and pick your seats. I would recommend buying your tickets in advance, as the theaters are relatively small. There's a parking garage attached to the theater that has plenty of spots available. It costs $19 to park during the movie. I would say that the only potential warning is to be cognizant of the Cubs schedule. I imagine people will try to park in that garage since Wrigley Field is a block away.

Yelp
This place is great. Cozy theaters, reasonable and competitive pricing, lots of food options and service every time so far has been great. I've been here three time so far. I think the entrance could stand out more, I walked past it but it's a shared building so. Anyway when you get inside as many have said it reads like a love letter to John Hughes. Which is what I grew up with. Ferris Bueller is the first thing prominently displayed. The halls have so many posters from different eras and countries, it has more of a movie museum feel. They have a dining space overlooking Clark and it's above all the rooftop bars as well, so it's a great spot to hang out and people watch. But yeah, great spot in the middle of everything. Make sure to get tickets in advance, the theaters are smaller, intimate, and fill up fast!

Yelp
They're still figuring it out and I believe in Alamo so much that I hope they do soon, and can't wait to come back. Ambiance - 5/5 - classic Alamo experience, vintage, comfy chic with a great bar and people playing Mario kart in the lobby. Service - 4/5 - definitely attentive, quick to answer the buzzer and quick and quiet when waiting during the movie. They did get my order wrong a couple times, but I'll forgive them for being a packed film. Food - 4/5 - the Asian chicken sandwich was amazing, same menu as many other alamos so I could get the classics and check out the specials. Very sad the shake machine was down, I was really really looking forward to that.

Yelp
I'm from Texas and I love Alamo. This one is so updated and nice. The problem lies more with the service and value. We have rewards and having to go to concierge before ordering to redeem a coupon seems pretty redundant. The parking is also $10 after validation. I feel like it should be free given that you often buy tickets and a meal. Things can sometimes be missed when ordering. But overall one of the better movie theaters in the Chicago area

Yelp
I would maybe say don't allow your wait staff to say loudly in front of patrons "I'm still testing positive for COVID but don't have symptoms." Excuse me, what? Hard pass. Cancelling our passes. Update: We have fully cancelled our season pass, and for good reason. It's hard to respect businesses that are so blasé about the pandemic. Don't let your employees work if they're sick. I really hope this changes because I'd love to return every so often. Please do better.

Yelp
What in the world is going on with this Alamo Drafthouse? The movie selection: excellent. The cool ambiance: excellent. The unique movie events: excellent. The food: excellent. The service: AWFUL. I first went in May 2023. For some reason, I never received a bill. Wanting to be honest, I tracked down my server after the movie to pay. I wasn't too annoyed, because I knew they were still new. Went again in summer 2023. Ordered a drink but it never arrived. Was annoyed but brushed it off. However, when I received the bill, I discovered that I had been charged for the drink (that I never received). I complained to my server after the movie, who removed it from my bill. Just went in November 2023. Ordered a drink about 30 minutes into the movie; finally after waiting over an HOUR, I flagged down a server and asked about the drink, which I finally received... towards the end of the movie. The place has so much potential, but good god, they really need to revamp their ticket system or hire servers who pay attention or change SOMETHING. I'm very sympathetic to mistakes, but a mistake EVERY SINGLE TIME makes me question if I should switch back to AMC.

Yelp
I'm not sure why the ratings of this place are so low. It's super comfy. The food options are great. The staff is cool. I've also dropped by here just to grab a drink at the bar when I'm in the area and can't handle the full Wrigley. I kinda love/hate that they have an unlimited popcorn bowl. Like, it's good popcorn. But also, because you have to use their system to flag down a server to refill, and I'm socially awkward, I feel like I'm always going to end up paying $10 for a medium-sized bowl of popcorn. So, brilliant on their part. I also love/hate that there are servers. It's so convenient. It's also distracting to have people moving about the theater consistently. Also, one time I was there, they forgot our sodas, and we weren't sure how long we should wait before flagging them down, and then we had to have a hushed conversation explaining we didn't want to order again, just that we were missing part of our order. I felt bad for talking during the film--but was also thirsty? Anyways, I like the vibe and that they show old movies, as well as current ones, and I usually end up with my friend at the bar talking about horror films with a bartender. Love that.

Yelp
Wish I could give the theater less than 1 star. While the theater is fine, it has a severe bed bug infestation; after watching a movie there, my friend and I were covered in bed bugs. When I tried reaching out to the theater I received no answer. Visit at your own risk!

Yelp
Large recliner theater seats. Good menu and at-seat waiter service. Sound in theater very good. Reserved seating

Yelp
don't see movies out much these days but occasionally there is a flick that you really want to see. went to see Haunting in Venice last night and really enjoyed the theater. recliner seats, food and beverage service in theater, crazy sound system. only gripe was the servers walking in front of us, will get different seats next time.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere-- I love to walk in and be congratulated on my movie choices. It's just fun! Great service.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. We've only gone for event movies (revivals or opening night parties). Those have been great. Love the add-ons. The food is good. Service is solid. Parking is easy. Can't wait to go again.

Yelp
I went to see Killers of the Flower Moon this morning and left an hour into the movie. The sound was horrible. You could barely hear the dialogue, the soundtrack was not audible, and there was no ambient or background sound from the side speakers. It was so distracting that I couldn't concentrate on the story. I'm sure the sound doesn't suck this bad in the Taylor Swift movie! I wanted a refund but was told I need to contact Fandango. I called Fandango and was told I need to address it with the theater. JFC!

Yelp
Been going to Alamo for years. Happy it came to Chicago. Service is great. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Jordan was our waitress and she was amazing. The only reason I can't give five stars is the food. It was not good at all. I've had food at other Alamo Drafthouses , but this was awful. Cold and cheap. The popcorn was my meal. Hopefully this changes , since the location just opened.

Yelp
Blast from the past. Totally tubular and Kowabunga dudes. A theater that really mixes the past cinema with the present. Walls lined with box tvs, stacks of VHS tapes, and old movie posters in a dimly lit atmosphere that reminds you of the days when you'd be watching movies in the basement of your friend's basement while chowing on some pizza. Screens and seats inside the theater themselves are modern and have that pleasant ability to recline. They also have a set up where you can order food or drinks to your seat. They highly recommend you arrive a bit early for the showing otherwise you won't be allowed in as to not disturb the other guests. Tickets and seats can be bought online. I believe it was about 11.99 before taxes and fees. There is a parking garage next door but I ended up taking the street parking. Staff are friendly and drinks come out quickly. Personally I'd love for them to have a happy hour and just enjoy the atmosphere.

Yelp
We went to the movies here on a Saturday afternoon. Service was great, both at the bar and in the theater during the movie. We had drinks and just a pretzel, which was good. The movie was actually a little loud. Seats recline which my husband loves. Parking in the building (with validation for $10) made seeing a movie on a Cubs game day possible. We will come here again.

Yelp
The food and service here are so much better than a "normal" movie theatre. For the same price, if not cheaper, of a ticket and food, there's no reason not to come here for every film! Pictured is my popcorn before our movie. It's made with real butter and served in a metal bowl, giving a homier touch to the dining experience.

Yelp
Great, fast service. Tasty pizza. Fun cocktails. The rare theater where even if you end up in a front row seat, you have a great view of the movie.

Yelp
I first went to Alamo Drafthouse back in May to see the Little Mermaid and had a phenomenal experience. Our waiter who's name I unfortunately can't remember was excellent, attentive, and walked my partner and I through the process of ordering and how everything worked. Within minutes our food and drinks were quickly brought out (fried pickle spears which were delicious!), and we were able to enjoy our movie without any hiccups. Since then every single time we've gone we've ran into issues with staff either taking forever to bring the snacks we order or completely forgetting our bills so we couldn't leave once the movie was over. Overall, I really wanted to like Alamo Drafthouse more than I do because of the nostalgic vibe they have going on, however the continuous negative experiences have left me to take my business elsewhere.

Yelp
We finally got ourselves and Alamo Drafthouse here in Chicago. The only downside is that it's in a busy neighborhood when there is a Cubs game. As for the theater though - absolutely top notch. It's a cinema lover's dream. The staff is great. The ambience is gorgeous. The film presentation? Buddy, ain't no place like it.

Yelp
LOVE that Chicago has an Alamo Drafthouse! I only went to Alamo's when I lived in Texas and now enjoy going to the movies again. Love that it's a small, intimate theater with great service, reclining seats, great food options, and can even have a cocktail while I'm watching the movie. Will be back more and more!

Yelp
As a cinephile heard many about this chain over the years. Came on Monday night for the first time ever. Attended a speed dating event, then a screening of Crazy, Stupid Love. The movie is still funny about 10 years later. Ordering food in the theater is cool waiter comes through. There's a button you can push to get service as well. You fill out piece of paper with your order. They were out of milkshakes which I guess I get if you run out of ice cream over the weekend. Ended up ordering a Caesar salad and Arnold Palmer to eat during the movie. Got a blueberry Saison in the bar area from Whiner. The seats in the theater are new!! Recline well with space to kick your feet up. The ads/ music video before the movie pretty quirky and funny. They make sure to express the rules of being off your phone and not talking during the movie. I really appreciate it because at some other theater chains people will be on their phones during the movie and nothing happens. The posters, designs of the theater pretty welcoming.

Yelp
Horrible horrible movie experience! My friends and I came here for an 11pm showing. It from the start the service was horrible. 1. The shake machine was broken and the server (Queen) said "Yeah we are just as bad as McDonalds. It's always broken." 2. We wrote our order and pressed the buttons before the movie even started. I ordered chips and queso with a bottomless soda. Didn't get my drink till the middle of the movie and my food didn't arrive until 10 mins before the movie ended and it was COLD. My friends food also arrived late and cold and they even gave them the wrong food. Server also forgot straws. 3. We pressed the buttons soon after receiving the food for soda refills and the server came back saying "sorry our kitchen is closed" WE PAID FOR BOTTOMLESS SODA AND POPCORN AND DIDN'T GET 1 REFILL. 4. We asked for two separate checks before the movie started and she even charged my card with the $1 hold. I also had a gift card I wanted to use as well. At the end of the movie she handed us one check and charged us all on one bill... and she didn't even use my gift card. I had to go find her and ask for my gift card back... she seemed completely out of it and forgotten about my gift card. My friends and I were distracted the whole movie wondering when we were going to get our food. Yes it was a late show but that doesn't excuse the horrible experience. If you can't support an 11pm show then don't even give it as an option PERIOD.

Yelp
A trip to the Drafthouse was always a highlight when visiting a friend in Austin. The best movie theater experiences of my life, hands down. When I saw that one was finally opening soon in Chicago, I was beyond giddy, and could not WAIT to have that world class experience in my hometown. However, this place is a pale imitation of its Texas kin. First of all, the servers were a constant presence against the big screen, and endlessly distracting. Very little effort to be unobtrusive. We showed up the minute we were allowed into our theater, and still did not get an order in until well into the movie. They seemed to be out of half of the menu. Then it took forever to get the food and drinks. Then we did not get everything we ordered. Also, instead of the drink my partner ordered, they brought her a tumbler of straight up vodka. We clearly weren't alone, as half the theater seemed to be upset and whispering urgently to the staff when they finally got their attention. This frustrating, distracting experience cost us around $100. I'd give one star for the cool design of the lobby/bar and most of the staff we encountered being really nice, but these aren't what we came here for and hardly make up for the high-priced, in-theater distraction fest. It blows my mind to type this, but I won't be back to the Alamo Drafthouse a mile from my home in Chicago.
