"Sitting at the corner of Addison and Clark, this is Alamo Drafthouse’s first Chicago location and a six-screen, 30,426-square-foot theater that fits into the new restaurants and hotels that have transformed Wrigleyville; there’s even $10 parking in the attached garage with an entrance off Clark. I noticed the lobby is decorated with vintage and foreign film posters and a large set of VHS cassettes available for rental, and the company dedicated the theater to filmmaker John Hughes. Alamo brought out Alison Brie and Dave Franco for an opening appearance, and co-founder Tim League—clearly excited about having a Chicago presence—said the chain typically opens more than one theater in a market and that the movie business will rebound, calling the idea that it’s dead “utter bullshit.” The venue offers full kitchens for in-seat dining in leather power-recline chairs: customers write orders on paper forms and push a button to alert “ninja-trained” staff dressed in black to deliver food with minimal disruption. The menu includes flavored popcorn (the churro popcorn comes with bits of the Mexican pastry mixed in), mozzarella sticks and other finger foods, plus burgers, pizzas, salads and the chain’s well-known shakes." - Ashok Selvam
