Alana is a terrific, recently opened tapas restaurant and bar with a warm, contemporary atmosphere. It is managed and operated by the son of the owner of Las Casuelas next door and named in her honor.
The handsome dining room includes works of contemporary sculpture, design, and photography. Dining is available at the bar and at tables. The lists of drinks include six original signature and six classic cocktails. To begin your meal, there are choices of a charcuterie board of meats, cheeses, olives, and more; a carne apache board with beef tartare, nopales, avocado, dried chiles, and roasted garlic; and a bibb lettuce salad with fruits, including red cara cara oranges, mangoes, cheese, and guava vinaigrette, all of which our table enjoyed.
The tapas cover the entire range: grilled barbacoa beef, chicken with mild chipoltle peppers, grilled shrimp, and a vegan vegetale option with mole.
Friends in my dinner party are still talking about our meal. Highly recommended. We'll be back!
