The burger and fries came right out and it was top notch. The beer selection was excellent and the wait staff was very friendly and efficient. There's outside seating in front off the street and there's a large, comfortable patio in the back. A full bar with counter seating. Definitely a great place for beer, good food and conversation with friends.

This was an amazing Valentine's dinner ❤️ the specials were really incredible! It's truly wonderful to have a place that is an amazing brewery with high quality cuisine options.

This smaller brewery does not disappoint. The food is amazing, have enjoyed the fish tacos, the pub burger, and just recently their take on the Cuban sandwich (loved it). Whenever I come, I try to have a different beer. And always end my evening with a dessert flight!! Set out on the patio. This lasts last visit and it was a little chilly outside. But they have heater's out there. They just need to add a couple more making it really comfortable, but I highly recommend this establishment.

Alway trying new places. Hands down, one of the best Eggs Benedict. The other dish I ordered which was Hogs on the Rocks was also of good quality. Will definitely go back

Very much just a brewery-bar with bar food. I had the good fish and great tarter, but just meh chips/fries. Others had an OK burger, some OK Brussels and OK octopus. The reason I say OK was because there was zero “hey, try this” at our table of eight. One person left in the middle to go walk the street fair. So much for family/friends reunions. Just ok food, and a nice bar anyways. Music seemed to be hit or miss, loud not loud. Service was very substandard from our server that forgot basically everything, including bringing us waters and had to be asked twice for the departing checks. Dicks

Stopped by here to have brunch with my sisters. Finding parking is typical like any downtown area. We parked down the street and walked a short distance to the restaurant. When we first stepped into the door we were quickly greeted and sat down. It was very inviting and I loved that we sat by the window and could view the street. The food was presentable and tasted good. The “Fierce Potato” was my favorite. This is definitely a great spot to brunch and gossip with the girls. We’d go back.

Alaro: the backup plan that delivered. We rolled in last minute, no reservation, no plan—wine in hand from our first-choice spot. I hadn’t even done my usual vegetarian menu sleuthing. Honestly? I expected to settle. But surprise surprise, this place delivered. The menu has range. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, meat-lovers—everyone’s invited and no one’s stuck with a sad side salad. We love an inclusive queen. Didn’t try the beer because, again, wine. But the food? Came in hot. It’s refined pub classics with a little tapas flair. Fried pickles. Onion dip. A grilled cheese that was crispy, golden, and somehow not a grease bomb. Add the grilled onions. Seriously. Just do it. There’s a freshness here that a lot of places in this category miss. It doesn’t feel heavy or overdone—it feels like someone in the kitchen actually cares. The service? Super friendly and clearly knew the menu. But yes, we had to ask for flatware. Multiple times. Which, when your food’s already on the table? A little chaotic. Still—flavor wins. The vibe’s solid. I came in with low expectations and left thinking about what I want to try next. We came here for an office Christmas holiday get together on a Friday (12/1) evening. It’s my first time at Alaro. Passed by it hundreds of times between the office and home but never stepped foot inside. Reservations for 13 had to be done over the phone with the manager. Open Table has a limit of I believe 6 seats. Any more requires a phone call. Not a problem. Our reservation was for 3pm. Our table was ready upon arrival with a nice little “reserved” tag. Pretty cool. The place is clean, charming, and inviting and feels like a brewery with a number of tanks behind glass windows that you can see. Very fitting. We started out with drinks; instead of beer, we ordered their holiday special which was essentially their El Corazon Margarita - a drink made with reposado tequila with blood orange, passion fruit, pomegranate, and tajin salted rim. I’m a big fan of margaritas and this one was not too shabby. Pretty yummy… a 4.5/5.. Our server was fantastic. I didn’t get his name but very cool dude. He was tentative to us but not overwhelming and took good care of us. Service was a solid 5/5. Upon placing our order, it took maybe 10-15 minutes for our food to arrive hot from the kitchen. A number of us went with the fish tacos. Others went with the veggie burger, the octopus, and grilled cheese. The presentation of the food was neat and well put together deserving a 5/5. The taste however fell short of expectation. The fish tacos were underwhelming, lacking flavor and taste compared to other fish tacos at other eateries. This one was probably a 3/5 at best. When surveyed, folks said similar of their own dish. The one dish that did turn out very well was the octopus which was amazing. It was absolutely delicious, a 5/5. We stayed there a few hours, chatting, laughing, and enjoying the evening together. The place was never overly crowded as patrons came and went for a Friday evening. The place offered us a good dining experience with a value to price ratio of probably a 4/5. To sum it up, Alaro Craft Brewery offers a unique dining experience a little different from other eateries in the area. Their menu offer items not too common which is neat. The ambiance in the evening is inviting and warm. I would definitely recommend folks give this place a try if you’re in the area. We were in Sacramento for a conference and looking for a good spot to eat for lunch. What a great place! It was a cold, rainy November day and walking in, we were immediately comfortable. We sat at a table and our order was promptly taken. Our server was attentive and we ordered our food. I ordered a stout as well as the grilled cheese with bacon. It was absolutely delicious and the tomato soup was spicy in the perfect way! Highly recommend and we will be coming back soon!

I was pleasantly surprised by this spot! I walked here with a friend on a weekday to engage in some day drinking slash happy hour fun. Our waitress was super friendly and funny and was patient as we were trying to decide what to order. They have this AMAZING trip sampler plate with various dips that I want to go back and have again. They also have some great beer and shot combos which are always fun. It was a great day, so we opted to sit outside but they have plenty of indoor seating as well!

Stopped in to check out this place on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered a flight. You can choose any beers it comes as a four 4oz pours from their current beer and/or ciders. I chose: BALLESTA #22 - HAZY IPA RHAPSODY- IMPERIAL LAGER SPANIARD - SPECIAL ALE MARIA - ROBUST PORTER All four were good but I really enjoyed the Rhapsody. Also tried the California Fish & Chips- A NorCal influenced Classic. It comes with 2 Piece Beer-Battered Wild California Rock Cod, Mustard Slaw & Fries with Caper Aioli. The cod was really good. Staff were friendly. It's street parking. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. They a nice patio in the back.

We went for happy hour and enjoyed the beer flight, fish taco, chill ambiance, and great service. Hubz said he really enjoyed the IPAs and I thought the fish was gigantic and tasty, but needed a sauce. Fries were good but too salty. If you're a beer lover, highly recommend stopping by if in Sac!

Came here for a burger and wine/beer tasting and it was delicious! Chris, the brewmaster, sat with us for a bit and was very nice! The beer is fabulous and the menu looks great. We will be back!!

Alaro has been on my rotation for quite some time now. The food, cocktails, beer, and service are consistently fabulous. The owners are incredibly nice and welcoming. I always seem to have the fish tacos. In my opinion, they are the best in Sacramento. Add a few hits of their homemade hot sauce and your tastebuds will light up.

Alaro is one of my go-to places in Sacramento. I love the vibe, the beer, and the food. They also have a full cocktail menu and wine. Service is pretty good for the most part - they are always friendly and usually on top of things. Only one time that I recall some flighty service. She was lovely, just having a hard day. Still giving 5 stars b/c it happens. I love the veggie tacos, papas bravas, the La Luna Oatmeal Stout on Nitro, and they also make a bomb ass espresso martini. They change their menu from time to time but always have standbys like fish & chips, one of the best burgers in Sacramento (from what I hear) and a nice selection of seasonal salads. They used to make this one with a grilled avocado but it's been gone for some time now. On good weather days, there are plenty of outdoor spaces including the back patio and tables out front overlooking the street if you want to people watch in midtown. The indoor space feels warm and welcoming. I like the big windows and open spaces. Street parking is pretty easy too.

First time here, will definitely return. It's a nice restaurant, roomy inside with some outdoor seating. 2 hour street parking. Loved their fish and chips. The pluot burrata salad was refreshing. It doesn't come with greens but you have the option to add arugula, etc for an additional charge. Great service from Eddy.

Over the weekend, while visiting a family member in Sacramento, we decided to try a new spot for lunch and chose Alaro Craft Brewery, Restaurant & Cocktail Bar. Alaro Craft Brewery, Restaurant & Cocktail Bar opened in June 2018 in Midtown Sacramento, on the historic site of the former Rubicon Brewing Company. Founders Ray and Annette Ballestero, experienced in the local brewing scene, aimed to honor this legacy while introducing a fresh experience. When we arrived in the late afternoon, there was a slight breeze outside, so even though they have a nice street-side seating area and an even prettier backyard, we opted to sit inside. The place was not too crowded, but many tables inside had "Reserved" signs. We had to wait a few minutes for them to assign us a table that wasn't reserved. The seating area inside is very well laid out, and there's a beautiful long bar on the right as you enter. Alaro features Spanish-inspired tapas and classic pub dishes, complemented by a selection of craft beers, wines, and cocktails. Head Brewer Chris Keeton maintains a focus on classic styles, contributing to Alaro's success, including the Castillo IPA, which won a gold medal at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival. We started with a couple of their signature Margaritas, and I chose their special of the day, an award-winning Maria Robust Porter, along with a shot of mezcal. We were all pleased with our choices. For food, we ordered Patatas Bravas and fried Asparagus, along with their soup of the day special. Everything was well-prepared and delicious, with the soup being particularly noteworthy. We aren't big eaters, so despite hoping to try one or two main course dishes, we ran out of room and decided to come back again soon. The servers were very professional and attentive, and we were quite satisfied with the service. Alaro sources ingredients locally, which definitely makes a significant difference. I later learned that the name "Alaro" reflects Ray Ballestero's family heritage, reinforcing the founders' dedication to community and tradition. Try them if you are in the neighborhood. You will not be disappointed.

This was a great spot to get some tasty beers and food. My husband and I enjoyed all of our tastings and the atmosphere. All of the food was delicious and the house made mango habanero sauce was amazing! I would highly recommend it! The service was quick and we left very satisfied. We will be back again!

Midtown location so be prepared to search for parking. Great customer service. Manager accommodates my family visiting out of town bringing puppy along with them. Ambiance is awesome. Good vibe and super chill crowds that come in. Food is pretty awesome and options for pescatarian is limited but you do have some selections. Overall experience I would definitely recommend all to go there and have your personal experience because we caught all the staffs on a good day despite being pretty busy. Just prepare to wait or reserve your tables to make sure you get something after 5. Happy food exploring my fellow foodies. FYI my asparagus picture was half due to the hungry table

Great place. The owner and his wife were our waiters and provided such great hospitality. The place was clean, welcoming and had a lot more space than I initially thought. Food was delicious too so I will be coming back.

oohhh the drinks and food were to die for. i think we ordered the croquettes twice because they were that good. we also had the pork rinds and i loved those. service was friendly and place was clean. would come back.

Tapas to share with a friend! Yummy: Chicharones. Good: Croquetas and the Pluot & Burrata Salad (except I think we got peach or nectarine instead). Just ok: Patatas Bravas. Service was great and the place has a good Latin pub/brick vibe. Will be back to try other items on the menu.

First time customer ~ arrived with reservations for party of 8. Was given options of where to sit while making the reservations. Table was ready upon arrival with zero wait time. Server was attentive and polite. She gave recommendations and was transparent when one of the ordered cocktails was not as described. Fun lively ambiance. Definitely want to go back and sit outside. Love the vibe. Food was good and entire party was pleased!

Located right outside the Midtown Farmers Market. We looked for food at the farmer's marked but, it was closing down so almost everything was sold out. I saw Alaro out of the corner of my eye and suggested we go there. We could finally sit down and they had clean bathrooms. It was nice to get out of the heat and into the AC. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. About half of the patrons choose outside seating. They have 4 or 5 tables outside and 3 were full. We opted for inside so we could get indoors and enjoy the AC blowing on us. The place wasn't slammed, there were plenty of tables empty inside and the bar was pretty empty. With that there was a wait to be seated. The staff was running around and serving orders. They don't have a hostess, the wait staff has to seat you. They do have a hostess table and it's a bit confusing if you are supposed to seat yourself or wait. After waiting for a bit I was about to just sit down and I was told that she'd be right back to seat me. After delivering her order she was back and sat us. It took a bit before a waitress came back to greet us. It appears that they may need more staff as they weren't up to compacity and they were running around. I ordered the fish and chips and he ordered the crisps with the onion dip. it would have been nice if we could have swapped out the fries (Chips) with my fish and chips for the crisps as we didn't need both. The fish and chips was good. The tarter sauce was house made and it was only ok, it wasn't what I'm used to. The malt vinegar was a better choice. They don't have a private lot. It's all street parking so that can be tough, especially on Saturdays when they have the farmer's market. We saw several people come in from the farmers market, so we weren't the only ones with the idea to get inside and off our feet. I'd come back as they are convenient, but service was only so so. Maybe there was a big rush before us and they were still catching up. It just didn't look that busy when we were there.

Pretty cute venue with dim lighting and outdoor dining available. They have a lot of drink options and tapas or things like burgers and sandwiches. We got a couple drinks and the special for the day was a Cubano which I just had to order. They make their own ham in house. The Cubano ended up being decent, I've had better before but it was enjoyable. I think more cheese would have enhanced it. Their fries were fantastic though, very crisp and well seasoned.

Just an amazing experience every time! Love the cod tacos! Love the drinks! The vibe -- super chill and easy going. Dress up! Dress down! This is the spot! Great service too!

Thank you to the owners, Ray and Diane - my family's first visit was very memorable! Stephanie, our server was pleasant and provided great wait service! My hubby and I tried Alaro Craft Brewery after our morning at the Midtown Farmer's Market. We simply walked over, sat at a table on the front patio with heaters and orders some beers and dishes. I order the burger with split pea soup and my hubby ordered their special for the day, which was stuffed peppers. These were not your ordinary, basic peppers. These peppers were far from basic they were absolutely delicious, I'm still thinking about those peppers. These peppers were stuffed with slow braised, short rib... omggg droool!!!! While this dish may seem so simple, they had so much flavor! They need to put this item on the menu permanently because they are such a unique dish and it's that good! They offer brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. They also have a beautiful outdoor back patio where they sometimes have live music. I am definitely recommending this place to all my family and friends. Can't wait for my next visit!

I'd been to Alaro once before for a holiday party and had a great experience! We returned (2 years later) for an early dinner on a Saturday evening, and managed to get seated right away. The place filled up very quickly and most parties seemed to have reservations. The interior was more upscale than your average brewery and had festive holiday decor. For drinks, I ordered the Seasonal Mocktail and my friends chose the Three Crows Black Lager and El Corazon cocktail. All the drinks were very good! I liked the coconut cream on top of my mocktail, which somehow wasn't too sweet. We also got an order of Frickles with Caper Aioli for the table. These were fantastic! I usually prefer pickle chips, but they were perfectly fried and paired so well with the aioli. I wad craving something healthy, so I got the Kale & Roasted Chicken Salad as my entree. The portion size was very generous and I generally liked this salad. However, there just wasn't enough chicken in it and the existing chicken was a little dry. A salad probably isn't the best thing to order at a brewery though, especially with Alaro's surprisingly sophisticated food menu. My friend's Chicken Sandwich was very good, and so were all the items I had tasted at the holiday party. Service was impressively fast and our server Rikki was friendly, despite looking visibly stressed. Overall, good for dinner - would return!

The grilled Octopus was great, very tender yet charred exterior, covered with a tangy tomatoe mix. The reason I came here was the BURGER, and it was exceptional! Cooked perfectly, very tasty, the quality meat was evident from Bite #1. The salad side is a must... skip the fries, you wont be sorry. The beats in the salad, and snappy watermelon radish was a perfect balane.

We had extra time between our afternoon event and dinner. Alaro happened to be next door to our dinner restaurant so we thought we'd check it out. Comfortable atmosphere. Good selection of traditional beers if you're not into the IPAs. The host and server were both very helpful since we hadn't been there before. Tapas menu with some traditional bar food, so you could easily enjoy a full meal here. We just had the Czech style Pilsner, some chicharonnes, and the nitro oat stout. Perfect intro to dinner.

This spot never disappoints. Great indoor/outdoor seating. I love the food menu and the beer is good. Perfect date night spot and if you leave room they have a soft serve flight!

Friday night dinner date with hubby! We have been eyeing this place for a while and finally decided to give it a try. We had very high expectations but this place fell short! The ambience is great, love the decor and the settings and bar area, service is not bad but the food has limited options unless you love pork, beef or seafood. The seafood options were quite limited too. We ordered fried pickles (dripping with oil), the crispy fish tacos and shrimp in garlic sauce (gambas), for drink we ordered sherry and chocolate vanilla soft serve for dessert. Fish tacos were really not flavorful and tasted a bit bitter and tasted like something was missing, the shrimps smelled bad (the shell probably or because it wasn't fresh). I wish they had more options.

My partner and I came for Happy Hour on Friday for a round of pints and small plates. Alaro holds a special place in our hearts since we went on our first date here over a year ago, and we were excited to come back and see the brewery decked out for the holidays. We were told that staff would need our table back in less than two hours for a private event, so we ordered quickly. We squeezed in our Happy Hour order which consisted of the Landlord's Lager and Castillo IPA pints, Spanish Croquetas, Fries, and two orders of Fish Tacos. Our pints were refreshing and paired well with all our food. The fries had great seasoning, my partner loved the aioli it was served with, and the croquetas were a hit too. The tacos came with generous portions of fish; however, I wish there was a bit more acid or fat to help balance it out. Maybe I ordered too many fried plates this time, but my favorite tapa of all time is the pulpo gallego. Fingers crossed it ends up on the Happy Hour menu one day!

I wish I took a picture of my food, but unfortunately I did not. But I got the fish tacos and they were amazing! The staff was also so friendly. I liked that they had outdoor and I could take my dog. They even brought out water for her. My drink was also so good. I got the Bellini.

A bit full of itself but has the bones to be a hit. 2nd time was a dismal experience. Came back because the first was bordering on very good. Service is inconsistent and indifferent. Take out order issues included: More than twice the estimated time to prepare. Took CC over the phone then ran card at restaurant anyways. Still sitting here waiting for my order...

Sat outside after the farmer's market with a large group of people. The fried chicken sandwich was the special that day and it was HUGE. Delicious and the fries were super tasty too. Also got the flight of soft serve- super fun! Highly recommend for a bday treat. Service was a little slow but idk if it's because we were outside. Overall had a good time though.

Service here was horrible. We sat for a really long time before being acknowledged. I felt as if I was being watched by staff also. I did enjoy my beer which the waiter recommended but wish they had a larger selection. Food was just ehhh for me. I wasn't too much of a fan of my ceviche. It was small and had maybe 2 shrimp but was 90% cabbage. My wife did enjoy her fish and chips though. Oddly our order came out within 10 minutes and even came before our drinks. At the end of our meal we were hounded for payment. The waiter just awkwardly stood at our table after handing me the tab just waiting for payment. Most places will drop it off and come back but this experience made me feel profiled, as much as I hate to say that.

Came here on a Saturday evening and was surprised there was seating immediately available. The waitress was attentive and had let us know that one of the fryer was broken and any fried food might take a little longer. I appreciated the heads up. I got the fish and chips- the fish was perfectly fried with the right amount of coating. The waitress also brought malt vinegar and an in House made peach haberno sauce which was quite literally fire but so addictive. We also go a few cocktails where we're delicious also ordered a flight of beers which were from local breweries. Loved the ambiance of the place too, had a rustic vibe. We sat inside because it was still warm out when we go there but after the sun went down their outdoor seating got busier. My only regret was not getting more pictures. I'll be back to try fish tacos and hopefully get more pictures.

One of my closest friends wanted to treat me to dinner for my birthday and I was in the mood for some tapas. After a quick search on Yelp, I stumbled upon Alaro. I checked out the menu and saw that not only did they have a selection of tapas on the menu but they also had a grilled cheese sandwich that caught my eye and I was excited to try it out. I entered the nearly empty brewery and was immediately greeted by a friendly woman who showed me to a table. The environment is casual and inviting. The woman offered me a menu and asked if I wanted to start with something to drink while I waited for my friend to arrive. Service was friendly and the waitress was observant and checked in on us throughout the meal. For the appetizer, we ordered the patatas bravas. I thought this appetizer was just okay. The potatos were crispy but I would've preferred them to have a little bit more sauce drizzled on the top. For my drink, I ordered a glass of sangria. I found it to be a little too tart for my liking but that could've been due to the fact that includes grapefruit juice and I am just not a fan of grapefruit. My friend and I both ordered the dreamy grilled cheese sandwich. The grilled cheese sandwich was delicious! It was filled with an ample amount of cheddar and fontina cheese and toasted to perfection on sourdough bread. I really enjoyed dipping my grilled cheese sandwich in the bravas sauce that came on the side. At the end of our dinner, the waitress surprised me with a soft serve ice cream topped with sprinkles & a little candle! It was such a sweet, lovely surprise!

Unique menu that no one else in Sacramento offers, is why this place deserves 5 stars! My favorite items were the stuffed peppers with slow braised beef. They were having a special on the day we visited, so I hope they put this on the menu permanently. The meat was so flavorful and the pepper was cooked just before it becomes soggy. To top it off, they sprinkled chicharon pieces which gave this dish much needed texture. My mouth is salivating just thinking about these stuffed peppers! Wait service was nice. Stephanie provided great service. The owners, Ray and Diane were very personable and because of that I would visit again. Overall a good experience. Alaro is a family friendly and especially dog-friendly establishment.

Came here to say for ice cream flights and drinks, so this is just for dessert. Ordered the pre-selected flight of ice cream. The best one was the vanilla tangerine, followed by the vanilla strawberry vermouth. Wasn't a fan of the other two. Service was good, we sat outside in the front patio but the server made it a task to check on us ever so often. Definitely a good place to hang out, pretty lights outside with the flame heater is a vibe.

Love this spot! Fantastic selection of craft beers & variety of dishes. Plenty of options for vegetarians. We ordered the frickles & pan w tomato for our appetizers. Highly recommend the frickles for pickle lovers :) We had the Rainbow veggie burger and the Hogs & rocks for our mains. Burger had one of the best vegan patties I've had & was overall fresh and flavorful. Hogs & rocks dish was rich & decadent. Mussels were cooked perfectly & the brisket was great, but the dish was fatty enough that at times, was overwhelming. Had a delicious cheesy soup for dipping. Portion sizes were very fair - hogs & rocks seemed small initially, but was very filling. Ordered a few craft beers & all were very good! We requested to be sat outside on the back patio & the ambiance was very nice! Cute string lights & misters for a hot day. Good vibe for a date or a bite with friends. Service was quick & our waitress was very attentive. Staff at the restaurant is friendly! We will be back!

Found this hidden gem by chance! The service was amazing! Had the beer flight, Trio of Dips, Frickles and capers, Irish Mule, and the soft serve flight. Was able to share everything! The food was hands down PHENOMENAL!

Came here with some of my best gal pals to do a late Mother's Day brunch! We were able to set reservations for noon ensuring we'd be in and out. For a Sunday at noon it wasn't too crowded and they had plenty of seating despite its small dining area. Front patio seating along with back patio, high top and low top tables, AND bar top seating too. I am a total carb loaded girl so the Patatas Bravas was calling my name! I can't do the fried eggs. It always looks so bomb when people cut into the yolk and it falls onto whatever it's placed over but I simply cannot. Lol. So, I opted for scrambled and everything else remained original. They aren't joking about these potatoes being crispy. I may have been the only one in our group that wasn't a huge fan of how crispy. Something I will keep in mind for future meals. It seemed this dish was lacking flavor which had me a little disappointed. There wasn't much for dessert options, however, the soft serve cups sounded delish and wasn't something that would leave us feeling sluggish. I personally liked the Salted Caramel! There's something special when that salt hits your tongue combined with the sweetness in a dessert. Other flavors were good just not something I'd willingly going back for more bites. Overall, great dining experience where it was fairly straight forward. Nothing above or beyond nor where we were neglected as guests. I would love to come back here to try out their tapas plates!

For some reason, I get sort of sick or just the food doesn't sit right with me. That's the only reason for the 2 stars so it could just be me. Servers and staff have always been nice. Beer and wine are good. The potatoes are the gold star here. So really not bad food, I think it's that I went to a brunch and did not feel good from the food. But I've had the potatoes before and felt fine and loved them!

This is as a plus plus experience. The expectation for a brewery to have half descent food is slim to none, however, the food was the highlight for our large group! Drinks were good but the food was better. I especially appreciated the vegetarian options.

Wow!!! First of all start with the homemade chips and carmelized dip!! It was amazing!! The chips were sooooo good! I'm not sure I'll ever be able to eat other chips after these! Service was fantastic! Grant was a gem and so good with our pup too! Drinks were delicious! My husband couldn't stop raving about one of the house specialties "hogs and rocks" I think was what it was called. My son had a burger that was a special for the night and even though he's 13 and eats a large amount of food very quickly, his burger was gone in record time! I had the soup and I was also impressed, though it came with the tiniest piece of bread on the side and I could have used a few more slices of bread - but that's being super picky! It was a wonderful spot to eat and I will be dreaming about those chips!

Short version: go there! Long version: From the moment we walked into Alaro, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for a fantastic dining experience. Rikki was our server, and she was absolutely wonderful from the moment we sat down until the very end of our meal. Her attentiveness and friendly demeanor made us feel right at home, and she even took the time to box up our leftover bar food, which I feel is a forgotten feature in many restaurants these days. We arrived just in time for happy hour, which runs until 5 PM, and decided to kick off our meal with the mushroom croquettes. These little bites of heaven were simply divine! The outside was perfectly crispy, providing a satisfying crunch, while the inside was soft and bursting with rich, earthy mushroom flavor. Each bite was a delightful contrast in texture that left us craving more. To complement our appetizers, we ordered two drinks: the Apple Hill and the Cran Orange Martini. Both cocktails were vibrant and flavorful. The Cran Orange Martini was particularly impressive; as soon as it arrived at our table, the sweet scent of fresh orange wafted up to greet us. The taste was just as delightful--refreshing with a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness that made it incredibly enjoyable. For my main course, I chose the beer-battered fish tacos, which were nothing short of spectacular. The fish was cooked to perfection--crispy on the outside while remaining tender and flaky on the inside. Rikki recommended trying their hot sauce, and I'm so glad I took her advice! Just a little dab added an exhilarating kick that elevated the dish without overpowering it. The combination of flavors was truly outstanding! My fiancé opted for the sandwich of the week, which happened to be a turkey sandwich served like a French dip but with a twist: instead of au jus, it came with rich turkey gravy for dipping. It was an incredible creation! The turkey was juicy and flavorful, and dipping it into the savory gravy took it to another level. We both agreed that this sandwich was a must-try and something we would definitely order again on our next visit. Overall, our experience at Alaro was nothing short of amazing. The combination of excellent service, delicious food, and creative cocktails made for a memorable evening. We left feeling satisfied and excited to return to explore more of their menu. If you're in Sacramento and looking for a place that delivers on flavor and hospitality, Alaro is definitely worth a visit!

A good friend of mine and I came on a Saturday afternoon- they weren't so busy which was nice. The ambiance is very chill and the service is so nice! We had the sweetest server. I ordered the cod tacos which were pretty good, their spicy sauce carried the whole meal and gave it a nice kick. My friend ordered their grilled cheese and it came with either your choice of soup, salad, or fries. She chose the fries. We also shared the caramelized onion dip and kettle potato chips. We got two of their Rebujita drinks which was a nice, light refreshing cocktail with fino sherry. Everything was a total of $72- we went home with left overs because the portions were a bit big. I'd probably come again to try their brunch menu? I was hoping to catch them for brunch the first time around but I believe we missed it.

Such a cute little spot. I love the Spanish influence and their wine selection. The outside back patio is great for those sunny afternoons.

I really really really hate to leave a 3 star review bc the rest of the staff was so nice- but we came in with a large party on Friday night and were sat at a big table outside- the waitress was TERRIBLE to us. I'm not sure what the issue was- it seems like maybe the automatic gratuity translated to bad service? I tried being nice to her thinking that maybe she was overwhelmed but it just made her way more condescending towards us. Anyways, after waiting forever to take our orders, she walked away when my husband was in the middle ordering- saying she was going to start on the other end of the table instead. Cut us off everytime we asked for something or had a question about the menu. She asked another member of my party if she was done with her food, and when she said yes- the waiter grabbed the plate off the table and nearly smacked her upside the head- then said a rude "excuse me" after the fact. At the end after paying- she brought our credit cards/clip boards back, slammed them on the table and said "I'm sure you all can figure out whose card is whose." So weird. Adding two stars bc the rest of the staff was nice. Again hate to do this.
