Very interesting place to visit if you like history. Amaia was a great guide. She showed us all around the museum. She told us about where they found the wreck that they are using as a model for the replica they are building, how they built and used the ships. She showed us the ship that is nearing completion and we went to the forge where we met Pablo creating some of the pieces and tools that they use. Eskerrik asko!

Incredible museum and active workshop! Informative displays with English French Spanish and Basque translations. Wonderful and accommodating staff. We rode our bikes and didn’t have a lock and we were allowed to stash them inside.

A wonderful working museum dedicated to building a Basque whaling ship identical to one which sank at Red Bay, NL, in the 1500's. It is a joint project of Portugal and Canada. The courage of the Basque whalers, and the joint work to tell their story is awesome.

A real gem. We got the 30min private tour for a few euros extra which gave us nice insights into all the projects happening there.

This place is a deep discovery into ancient marine carpentry and everything that relates to it. A must see for all amateurs of the kind. ⚓🌊🍀🌬️🌈💎🌟
