Albarran's Mexican Bar & Grill

We're here from out of town. We asked for a Mexican food recommendation. This is where they sent us! And we were glad we came. The food, atmosphere and service were all great! Our server was amazing. And next time we're in town we'll definitely be back!.

This place is probably in my top 3 of Best Mexican Restaurants I've ever eaten in!!! Went in for lunch with a friend, we were seated immediately, out server was very helpful with any questions we had, and the food was easily the most delicious I've eaten in a long time!!! The serving was huge, and I was barely able to finish it all! I'll definitely be back very soon!!!

The hostess who sat us was very rude. We asked for a booth downstairs and she didn't even look at a computer or around the corner to see. Pretty much just disregarded what we were asking for. I have a bad knee so we took the elevator. She put the menu and silverware on the table and walked away. We had to find our table. We watched her do the same thing with the table beside us. They had a infant and the mom had to go hunt down a high chair for herself. She was not very nice at all. Our waiter was great. Very attentive and took care of us, the food came out as expected, no surprise. The front of the house just needs alot of attention to customer experience.

The food and service were both good however serving size was pretty small. I know this won't be a popular option, but it is mine. I'm not a fan of therapy dogs in restaurants. Now dogs that help with people who have seizures or blind things of that nature absolutely. I understand dogs have to be allowed on premises. But a toy poodle sitting at the table eating out of the chip bowl isn't acceptable in my book. Not too sure I'll go back soon.

We come here often but the service last night was incredible. Katie was our waitress and she was super personable and knowledgeable about the menu! I tried something new by her recommendation and it is definitely going to be something I order in the future. The manager Matt also stopped by, and he was kind and personable. He remembered us as frequent customers and thanked us for choosing them again. My 6 month old loves the atmosphere and everyone who walks by her always makes her smile too! We will continue to come back here and request Katie as our waitress. Best mexican food and service in town! Thank you Albarrans!

We took my mother in law and wife there for mother's Day along with a lot of the family. The service was amazing and the food was great. Huge portions for how much you pay. Especially the kids meals. This was my first time here and I will definitely be going back. I highly recommend if ya look for good Mexican food.

Ashley is one of the best servers I have ever had. We came on Father’s Day so it was very busy but only waited about 10 minutes for a table, if that. Food was good and very large portions, the manager was walking around talking to guests. Overall very impressed with the service and management here.

My husband and I and little one are from California and let me tell you we have been in Texas for a while now and we have been trying to find a good Mexican restaurant that is the same as California and wow our first time coming here was beyond amazing even better than California first of all we were greeted great by the host and our server she was amazing always checking on us and making sure we had everything. I forgot her name but she has blond hair. She was fast and very kind. The food was amazing in California they never serve us that huge bowel of chips with the salsa we were at WOW they were so good as well. We ordered the carne asada fries 10/10 and the two chili rellenos with rice and beans 10/10 and amazing it brought us memories of our grandma/moms cooking. The portion is amazing especially for sharing with your husband/wife/kids my little one got the kids menus cheeseburger with fries 10/10 and she loved it everything is legit homemade the fries were crispy and soft and just amazing flavor that I cannot describe. The soft drinks were amazing I am pregnant and I’ve tried all sprites from different places and nothing compares to Albarran’s Mexican Bar And Grill the sprit tasted so refreshing so did the ice tea and the coke and Dr Pepper. The water was also amazing. And you cannot beat the price it was all $47 for us three for what we ordered we thought it would of been more also I loved the decorations and the music. The restrooms were so clean and organized everything was so perfect and the managers are always friendly going up to you making sure we had refills and had everything we needed. we will be coming again. I wish I would of taken a picture of the food but we were so hungry we just ate as soon as it came out. Trust just go on in and eat!! Edited: second time here and we got the molcajete that served me my hubby and my little one and for my little one some enchiladas with beans and rice and let’s talk about the huge bowel of chips! Pregnancy craving satisfied!!❤️

This experience was beyond disappointing. First off, the food was bland -- seriously lacking seasoning and flavor. Everything tasted like it was missing something... maybe salt, maybe soul. Not sure. But the real issue? I found a hair in my food. Absolutely disgusting. When I brought it to the server's attention, he said no manager was available and brought over someone else who claimed to be "in charge." This person immediately got defensive and told me, "Well, it's not a lady hair," which was bizarre -- I never said it was. I don't care if it came from a man, a woman, a beard, or a ponytail. It shouldn't be in my food period. To make matters worse, they acted like I should still pay because I had already taken a few bites before noticing the hair. Excuse me? That's not how hospitality or basic hygiene works. Finally, a real manager came out, and thankfully, they took care of it properly. But by then, the damage was done. The whole situation was handled poorly from the start, and I left disgusted and furious. Between the bland food and the way this was dealt with, I won't be back. I don't know what's going on with Tex-Mex in Lubbock, but this place is not it.

One of my fave Mexican restaurants in Lbk. I am a die hard enchilada lover and theirs never disappoint. It's got a great atmosphere and live music regularly. The chips and salsa are good- not quite mild enough for me but I'm weak. This is my almost weekly pickup spot.

Solid TexMex. The restaurant is nice, though can sometimes be a little loud. Service is usually on point. Enchiladas wirh choice of fillings and sauces, stuffed sopapillas, and burgers for those who don't want Tex Mex

Friendly staff. We did call ahead for 6 people. Our table was ready when we got there. The frozen mango Rita was so good! Actually tasted the mango and the margarita on the rocks was actually mixed and not a pre-mix. So good! The food came out promptly and our waiter was courteous and took good care of us. We all had enchiladas of some sort,tacked, a shrimp stuffed relieno paper dish. Everyone was very happy with their meals. Prices were very average for this style restaurant. Looking forward to our next visit when in town

This is the BEST restaurant to eat at in Lubbock!!! I've eaten here for the last 4 years and every-time has been absolutely amazing!! The service is always amazing and they treat you like family. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu and they are always so fast at serving you!

Love love love Albarran's!!!! DH and I came for our anniversary. The shrimp enchiladas are the bomb. Top shelf marg had me buzzing!! If you want awesome service ask for Ace or Michelle!!

Drove 4.5 hours to Lubbock to pick up some vintage rugs, and all I wanted to eat was Mexican food. But that specific type of like, locally owned restaurant. I don't know how to explain, but it's just better. We settled on Albarran's and I miss it. Connie was incredible. I'm not going to lie, I'm getting emotional thinking about her lol. Connie was warm and kind and professional. Knew the perfect balance between talking to us and leaving us to eat. When we left she gave us some of their mints and said we have to try them. She was right. They lasted longer than normal mints of that kind. She also suggested an ice cream place nearby since we were from out of town. I wish there were more Connies in the world.

Great Portions, Great Taste, Great Service, Great Atmosphere. We were really impressed with everything about Albarran's...and our Waiter "V" was THE BEST. I'd go back to the restaurant just to be served again by "V". We had a blast, got really really filled up and ordered some to go too. I could have eaten an entire plate of the papas alone. REALLY GOOD! REALLY. So very refreshing to have everything just the way we wanted it . . . i.e. customized ordering available. Try them out, and ask for "V" You'll be glad you!!

The food is ok. There's better Mexican food in Lubbock. Beer isn't cold cold. Beer needs to be cold. Really cold. Service was really good. We had a waitress and trainee, both were really good. Ambiance is about as you expect. Spanish flair.

Great food and service! This is our go to for not fancy but not cheap Mexican food. I love their salsa I could eat it for a meal.when it comes to Mexican this place knew the assignment.

I was here months ago and am still thinking about the bad service I received. We were sat in the bar with the bartender being our server, who most of the time was hugged up on this customer man when we needed something. Same situation for the only other table in the bar. The next time I came here I got food poisoning. Only good thing is the special prices and margs

No idea what the food tastes like. We were greeted with blank stares from four girls at the hostess stand, so i asked for a table for 3. Then we took the slowest walk up stairs and to our table in recorded history. The floor was dirty. Given chips, salsa and menus and she disappeared. Then they sat a family immediately next to us when the restaurant was empty with the mother screaming at her daughters. Surprised to find as much crushed chips and dried salsa in my menu as on the table. Immediately, a waitress took the drink order from the screaming table. They ordered cups of ice. When their ice came, the mother pulled out 16oz bottles of coke and started to pour. Unbelievable. After 15 minutes of no service, not a drink order, I called out to a waitress and asked her to let someone know we were there. She went to the upstairs waitress station and they huddled. One looked at us and turned back around. Then they all went to the balcony and looked down on the hostess station and it was obvious they couldn't get anyone's attention. So we left. No one made eye contact with us. We are now at Abuelo's getting great service and eating delicious food.

Delicious Homemade Tortillas!! They were worth the visit all by themselves. We ordered extra to take take home with us! We also had the fried avocado with papas and charro beans, chicken fajitas with refried beans, and cheese enchiladas with sour cream sauce. We splurged on the hot apple pie with ice cream, topped with brandy butter. Everything was amazing! We will definitely go again!!

We were looking for a bar with good food. We found one at Albarran's. Great bar with good music. Really enjoyed the margarita and Paloma. The bar tender was very attentive. Tostadas were delicious.

Food is fabulous, service is spot on and great atmosphere. This is definitely a place I will go back too.

*Do Not Eat Here* Had metal in my food and I bit down on food with metal in it. Manager took 30 minutes to even acknowledge the problem then decided to tell me why the metal was in my food. No apology, didn't ask if I was alright instead I get kicked out and called a bigot. Staff members were actually smiling and laughing at the fact metal was in my food and I was upset about it. The whole situation could have been handled with compassion and empathy but instead they decided to be monsters about it to protect their own butts despite major health code violations. To top it all off, it was Christmas Eve! I loved spending Christmas in pain from their metal shard.

I went to lunch with a group of writers after our meeting. Took forever to order, then a long wait for the food. I ordered the chili rellenos that came with potatoes and beans. The peppers in the rellenos were grossly undercooked to the point they were inedible. Worst rellenos I've ever had. Would recommend people go to Garcia's where I've never had a bad meal.

The food was bad and was not taken care of that's sad only was told they take the beer off the bill. It's not the beer that's was bad t the way over cook food we're take to the dog that's if the dog will eat it for $30. Dollars a plate it should be good not burned

Albarran's has a great lunch and dinner menu. I have tried several different dishes. They are all very delicious. There's salsa and chips are a part of every meal at no extra charge.

Be careful ! Check your bill before you pay . Our server added 2 import beers to our bill on Saturday . I just caled the manager . He put me on hold for 10 minutes , then hung up on me . I guess the managers want the servers to cushion their sales , and offer bonuses on daily sales . Wrong !

Food is alright nothing really special but service is great and restaurant is spacious and nice. I had the carne guisada plate. The meat was surprisingly tender. Rice and beans were alright. To drink I had a bloody marry which was very peppery so you might want to request easy on the pepper if you order that. Over all a pleasant experience. I would totally go again but not for any special occasion.

We tried this place for the first time yesterday and loved it. Service was prompt and consistent, decor was good, and it wasn't too loud/crowded. The food was excellent - I got the carne asada fries and a side of tortillas to make California burritos, and my wife got the barbacoa tacos. It was a bit more expensive than smaller Mexican restaurants ($40 for our two meals plus my wife's drink), but easily worth the price. We will be back.

I have had it with this place. I use to love this place and I have been here over 15 times. I would invite my friends to go with me here all the time. Also, we made this the restaurant​ to be the place we go to for all of our friends birthdays. But let me explain how the last 3 times of me coming here went. About 2 months ago: I came here with all of my friends for a birthday, and I was ordering food and I heard our waiter​ speak Spanish​ at the table next to us. So this led me to speak Spanish​ to our server because I love speaking Spanish​ and I am really​ trying to practice. How the waiter replied: (raises his voice for the restaurant​ and all of my friends to hear) "Oh,​ you think since I am latino I speak Spanish​, and I can't possibly​ speak English​... Well,​ I do...​" When I left, I told the manager​ and he told me-​ "sorry he just acts like that" Month ago: We ordered food and It took almost 2 hours to come out and everyone around us got their​ food and left by the time we got our food...​ We were only a group of five people... Yesterday: It was my friends 21st birthday and we came with all of our friends to eat here. We ordered drinks and they came out on time. Then we ordered all of our food and I asked the waiter​ if there was a charge for tortillas​ and he told me that there ​wouldn't​ be (there was). It took about 45 min for our food to come​ out which​ isn't terrible for this place but he dropped off our food and messed up on 3 of my friend's​ orders and then after he dropped off the​ food we set there for about an hour and a half waiting for water​ or the check or something.... I literally​ had one glass of water the whole time I was there... I even asked a couple times. Also, he messed up on all of our tickets and then I finally just gave him my card and just asked him to charge me for whatever​ he wants so I can leave. Sidenote- He walked past our table like 3 times talking to his friends and totally​ ignored us when we tried to get his attention. I still gave him a 20% tip and tried not to act rude.

We came in from NM and gave this place a try. It was lovely, I enjoyed everything from the building down to the food. It was delicious and our waiter was very nice. Great atmosphere with great food!

Don't know why anyone would choose to leave their garbage outside the front door. But it is what it is. For one this looks bad for the restaurant and it reflects poorly on management. So after we were seated we asked for the manager and we discreetly told about the trash. He said " okay, I'll take care of it". So then why is it that when we left the manager was standing at the front chatting it up with several staff members? When we walked outside the trash was still there !!!

Absolutely love the customer service there and the food is great. Matt makes a really good drink.

This place gets very busy in the evening! Expect to wait for a table. The food is great! Service is average. Nice atmosphere. Prices are reasonable. I recommend this place over other comparable Mexican restaurants.

Having recently moved to Lubbock, I have been making my way through all the Mexican restaurants in the area in hopes of finding the best one - and I've found it! I came to Albarran's for the first time with my boyfriend a few weeks ago - it was a 10 PM Saturday night and we were desperate for a Mexican dinner. Unfortunately, for those of you who know Lubbock, you know that 90% of restaurants close by 9 PM even on a Saturday night. Albarran's was one of the few places that was open, so we decided to check it out, and we were not dissapointed! Not sure what's up with the bad reviews in the past, but I anticipate things have changed recently! We decided to sit at the bar, and just wanna say that the bartender we had was awesome! He was attentive without checking on us too much, which created a very chill and laidback atmosphere at the bar. That plus the TVs made it a great place to have a drink and a meal. I got a marg and my boyfriend a rum and coke, both were well made and solidly strong, which we appreciated considering it was a Saturday night! Food wise, the salsa was excellent. As someone who appreciates spicy food, the salsa had a solid kick while not being empowering, and was very flavorful. My boyfriend and I got our usuals - chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. I got the green sauce while he decided on the red sauce, and we were both VERY satisfied. The portions were very generous, the enchiladas were well cooked and delicious - so much flavor! What I most appreciated was that they didn't overdo it with the cheese - I feel like lots of restaurants overdo the cheese on top of the sauce and its literally like you're eating enchiladas with just cheese. But that was not the case with Albarran's at all. Overall, excellent experience. I've already gone back twice since that first time! Highly recommend!

I've gone back to this place and they are very inconsistent from service, food, and drinks. We went for Cinco de Mayo for good drinks. I got a Michelada, and it came out hot and in a small plastic cup, and I got charged the same amount. A friend got a margarita, and it came out in a tiny plastic cup with lipstick on it?! They seated us upstairs and it was extremely hot and uncomfortable! The server later told us their AC upstairs had broken. They definitely should've closed the upstairs because of this. It was not a great dining experience, and they don't seem like they can handle a crowd.

Food here is great! Went on a weekend early afternoon and they had live music on the patio. It was a little loud up on the balcony, but the music was good, food was great, service was great. Go hungry because they give you ALOT!!!! Great chips and salsa as well.

Best Mexican food I've had in the Lubbock area they were well staffed food came out quick great experience will definitely be going again! I got the chili rellenos and my fiancé got fajitas with ribs

This is my fabulous place to get sour cream chicken enchiladas and a great margarita. They use the big schooners unlike how everyone else has switched to the tiny bar glasses. Great staff and amazing food. I even Uber eats when I don't want to leave home.

This is my favorite in Lubbock. Always very good and consistent. Cannot go wrong here.

Today I got to shout out to Albarran's. It's been 3 years since I was home to Lubbock so trying places I have not been before. Great food and service today, and their prices are super good. Lubbock you are still making me proud of my home town.

My husband, son, and I had the best experience here tonight! Our server Zach was attentive, friendly, and made great suggestions. We ordered the tamale dinner, fried avocado, and flan for dessert. The food was fast to come out and delicious. We've come here a few times and are never disappointed but tonight was beyond great!

Went here for lunch on Cinco de Mayo. The restaurant had a funky smell when we walked in, but we were thankfully seated outside on the patio. This is a two-story restaurant with a cute outdoor seating area. The chips and salsa here were well below average. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce. There was no flavor or spice to it. I ordered the lunch enchiladas with chicken and sour cream sauce. The enchiladas came with rice or papas and refried beans. I decided to try out the papas, which is pretty much cheese with potato peels in it. The enchiladas were decent. Overall, the food was very average. I probably won't come back.

One of the best restaurants I have been to in a long time. Ace, our server was very attentive and made excellent suggestions for our meal. I enjoyed it so much I went three times last month, which is about the extent of my eating out. The food was great, fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone.

we visited albarrans today and the service and food were great. Ace did an outstanding job on waiting our table. he continously checked on us to make sure that we had everything that we needed. Definitetely going back and hope that ACE Waits on us again.

If you're looking for a white washed watered down version of Mexican food, this is your place. Flour Tortillas were great though.

Our party consisted of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, parents and grandparents. One member in our party was in a wheelchair. So we had a lot going on. Despite our large party, Ace, our server, was quick, accommodating, attentive, and had a great sense of humor. Everyone ordered something different and everyone was pleased with their selection. Our food was delicious and was brought out to us promptly. We will definitely come back again.
