Where To Get Lunch In Midtown East

"You can only reheat your leftover green beans and ravioli so many times before needing to go to Num Pang and pick up a sandwich. Like a lot of other fast-casual spots, there are a few different proteins that come in your choice of salad, grain bowl, or sandwich. But the Cambodian sandwiches here are better than what you’ll find at most dining establishments with their own iOs apps. They come on huge soft baguettes with pickled carrots, cilantro, chili mayo and your choice of meat (the catfish and skirt steak are both really good). While there isn’t any seating in Num Pang, there’s an outdoor plaza about 100 feet away with benches and metal tables with chairs fastened into the ground." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, matt tervooren

Came here after work for a quick drink with a friend and we somehow ended up staying there for about 5 hours. Great food, delicious flavors! Good draft and canned beer selection. We only did one cocktail and tried the Espresso Martini not our favorite, but the beers were definitely worth it 🍻 Our servers pretty attentive, the crowd was great, music was varied and kept the vibes, bathrooms were clean. Overall great atmosphere and time.

Grabbed drinks and dinner with a friend at Alberts. The location was perfect since we wanted to meet near Grand Central. I absolutely loved the nostalgic vibes ans the grans bar in the middle. Alberts definitely exceeded my expectations with the two levels, great service and delicious food. I see a lot of reviews for brunch so definitely will be coming back to try it!

I stopped by for a mixed drink and an appetizer and had a great time. The space is perfect for after-work gatherings and company outings, with plenty of room to accommodate large groups and private parties in midtown. It was a fun, welcoming spot to visit between work travels.

Google
Held my 30th Birthday event at Albert’s and had a great time! They offer different private/semi private event spaces along with different food/drink options. They were very patient with me and all my questions, which I really appreciate! Service was absolutely excellent and they were always there if we needed them! Great vibes in this place and food is always delicious! Highly recommend!

Google
Absolutely fantastic and a great value. I don’t have a sweet tooth but their French Toast is mind-blowing; $25 bottomless drinks made their stellar mortadella sandwich taste even better. Beautiful space and excellent service.

Albert’s is an excellent place for brunch! Our server was great, attentive, and quick with our food and drinks. The menu is not extensive, but it has the essential dishes!

The ambience is quite and service is pretty quick. We just had apps here the coconut shrimp was the best. Their spinach and white bean hummus was a unique and tasted pretty good. Their chicken dummies were okay, wasn’t on the palette for me. Good location, give a shot when you are around.

We came here as a party of 2 around 4:30pm on a Sunday. We did have a reservation but it wasn't necessary as it was quite empty inside (likely due to our timing). The seating inside includes some bar seating and booths. There is also outdoor seating as well which some patrons enjoyed but it was too hot for us. We got seated right away at a booth. We were initially here for just the drinks but got peckish and so ended up ordering some food. Drinks: - Barrel Aged Martinez: SO GOOD. We got it twice! It's a bit alcohol forward but the smokiness balances it great. I also thought it had a great caramel after taste - Albert's Gibson: Loved the refreshing Yuzu in this - Yellowstone Collins: Super duper refreshing as well Food: - Shoe string fries: Nothing to complain about fries. - Albert's Burger: Great burger! - Mac n Cheese: Quite a good serving for the price! also delicious - Bonus - house made hot sauce: I asked for hot sauce and they gave me this and I thought it was AWESOME. The service was GREAT. Super friendly staff and super nice. Explained some things about the menu to us as well. I would definitely visit again! Perhaps with a larger group as well

Yelp
Drinks were great, service was fast, Samantha and Christina were wonderful, so kind, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Vibes were awesome and we will be back!

Yelp
Some friends recommended this bar as a great spot for drinks after work. My coworkers and I decided to check it out, and got there by about 5:30 on a Thursday. It wasn't packed yet, but all the tables and high tops were spoken for. We found room at the bar and easily were able to order drinks. I was a little worried about non-alcoholic options (doing dry Jan), as I only saw a few options online, but inside they have a small menu with about 5 other mocktails. It looks like all of them had some kind of zero proof liquor in them, which is definitely reflected in the price. Nonetheless, I happily ordered one and sucked it down. It was great to have something in my hand as I walked around the bar and explored. My friends both had spicy margaritas and really enjoyed them. The space itself is gorgeous, with the center of it all being a wraparound bar. Against one wall, there are boots and in the back some high top/standing tables. I saw online you can make reservations, but unfortunately was too late. Next time I will definitely make one, perhaps even for the tables that I saw in the upstairs portion. Overall, I think this is a great place to go for drinks after work for, a bit of an older crowd. At least in the earlier hours, it was very classy feeling. Maybe the prices keep the early twenties crowd out because if you're lookin for a happy hour deal, this place isn't for you. Part of the same group that runs the Spaniard, the interior design details and fun drinks seem to cater to a slightly mature yet still fun crowd comparatively. I can't wait to return (and try the actually alcoholic options)!

Yelp
Modern, dimly lit ambience at night- perfect for a date or night out with friends. I really liked the lychee martini and all of my friends enjoyed their drinks too. For apps we had the arancini (rice balls), which were ok. To note- the arancini don't contain meat. However, the Thai chili shrimp app was delicious! I had the rock shrimp burger- very flavorful and yummy! I ate the whole burger up. Shoe string fries were superior; truly we all devoured them and agreed. Our server was attentive, friendly, and gave us good recommendations.

Yelp
Grrat cocktails and great spot for a drink near grand central compared to most of the sports bars in the area. This spot has a good drinks menu and has a lot of space so doesn't feel crammed.

Yelp
Place was quite busy for a Tuesday, both indoor and outdoor seating. Fun, loud bar atmosphere. Thankfully we made reservations so we were seated immediately. They do a variety of martinis for $15 during happy hour. They also have beers on tap and more craft cocktails. Drinks were pretty good. Chicken pot pie was flaky and delicious - felt like a warm hug. Fluke crudo was just okay.

Yelp
As someone who came here when it was Public House for the Bills games, I absolutely love the glow up for Albert's Bar! The renovations they made brought it from sports bar to a chic spot I want to stop by after work for a drink and a bite to eat. We came here for a work lunch and will absolutely be returning! My coworkers got the shrimp burger and the duck sandwich, and I ordered the octopus and kale salad. Everything had great flavors and textures that balanced well together! Next time I want to try the shrimp burger. Also, if you're someone who collects matchbooks - Albert's has them!

Yelp
A truly beautiful and whimsical bar, with the most delicious bites! Every drink is perfectly curated from the EXTENSIVE menu, something truly for everyone! The French toast sticks were light like biting into a piece of heavenly goodness. But the chicken and waffles is a must order ! A truly amazing spot for brunch or a cute date night .

Yelp
Some of my colleagues and I decided to head to Albert's Bar after work the other night for some food, drinks, and to unwind from the week. After some deliberation as to where to go, we ultimately decided here based on the good reviews, selection of food and drinks, and proximity to our office. That being said, we made our way over after logging off for the day. Conveniently located steps away from Grand Central, Albert's is a large bar and restaurant that seems to cater to the after work crowd (that's me!). Space is one of the biggest assets Albert's has - there's a large bar in the center of the space with booths surrounding the perimeter. Additionally, they have more tables and stools on a second level giving view to the ground level plus a private room - overall it has a really grand presence. The aesthetics are welcoming - lots of medium wood tones throughout the space accented with touches of brass and plants. One of my colleagues called a few days prior to make a reservation - they take reservations online but she wanted to be sure we would get a booth so she called instead. Once we arrived, we were told there was no reservation for us - my colleague explained the situation and even showed them her call history to prove we spoke with them. They were pretty accommodating, though one of the employees passed a comment that we should have made a reservation online - if that's what they wanted then they shouldn't have accepted the phone reservation. Ultimately we only waited about 30 minutes for a table, and they were good about getting us once our table was ready (we headed upstairs for a drink while we waited). The drink menu is expansive - they have a large selection of cocktails plus beer and wine. I mostly stuck to cocktails (we had a few rounds), and everything I had was pretty good. My favorite was the amaro colada - it's not cream-based like a traditional pina colada, but it had refreshing pineapple flavor and was smooth. We ordered a lot of food: crunchy chickpeas, salt and vinegar chips, popcorn monkfish, shishito peppers, mussels, seasoned Jojo's (wedge fries), spatzle mac and cheese, spicy artichoke dip, charred octopus, and Albert's Double Deluxe Burger. All of the food was good - nothing that blew my socks off but it was solid, quality American food and perfect for sharing. The standouts for me were the artichoke dip, charred octopus, and the burger - but really there wasn't a miss. Service was good - everyone was friendly, food/drinks came out fast, and they consistently checked in on us to make sure all was well. Overall, I had a good time at Albert's - the food, service, and aesthetics were all a yes, and I would definitely return (with an online reservation ;-) if given the opportunity.

Yelp
Had a great time here for date night! We came for jazz happy hour, which is from 3 to 6 PM. The cocktails are also $15 for martinis so you save a few dollars. No deals for food, unfortunately. For two of us, we ordered the popcorn coconut shrimp, the charred octopus and kale salad, as well as the mortadella and burrata sandwich. The sandwich was definitely my favorite, it was so good and the portion size was really nice as well! We had a great server who was super attentive and very friendly. I also loved the decor of the restaurant, it was very reminiscent of the 1920s.

Yelp
Shannon was behind the bar and was incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to drinks and food. Her recommendations were spot on. She has the potential of being a legend behind the bar. Others around me said she was "very personable, diligent, and delightful." Carlos was also behind the bar. His ability to work an entire side of the bar (25+ patrons) is impressive. This night started with a lotus flower (White Lotus cocktail). Just like Percy Jackson did when he ate the lotus flower, he never wanted to leave. This vodka lemongrass drink is the perfect drink to start off your night. The next drink was the Yellowstone Collins. This bourbon citrus blended cocktail will make you want to binge drink, and have it over and over. When they ask you how everything going, my response was "Everything Nice". This tequila lemon and honey ginger drink will leave you smiling and feeling that everything is nice. I will leave you feeling like a king in the castle. This is a great spot to have a date or come for after work drinks. I highly recommend this spot.

Yelp
I've stopped by here a few times after work, and it's almost always busy during that time. It's a nice bar with the added bonus of outdoor seating. I'd recommend sticking to the martinis or straight spirits. I tried the Antigua Old Fashioned (on tap) and wasn't a fan. That said, the atmosphere here is great, making it a solid spot to unwind.

Yelp
Our server Bri was lovely! She took pictures of my friends and I. I got the lychee martini which was super yummy and you couldn't really taste the alcohol. We shared potato wedges and flatbread which was good. The potato wedges were hot and thick.

Yelp
Great spot to meet up after work. Lively vibe, excellent service and tasty food. Would recommend.

Yelp
An upscale bar in midtown that is always packed right after work with individuals between 21-30 predominately. There is a sizable selections of cocktails and some beer and wine as well. The place itself is massive. There is a lot of tables, but you need a reservation, otherwise you need to stand and it does feel crowded. Despite how busy it is, bar tenders are fast and attentive. Pricey for the area, but it is a nicer bar, so it checks out. Would come again.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise! A spacious bar with plenty of seating and standing room, and offers some delicious food items, what's not to love? My cocktail, the Amaro Colada, was so delicious with its notes remniscent of a pina colada but with more heft and less sugar; I downed multiple of this drink during my time at the bar, and I typically do not like cocktails. The fried cat fish was definitely a highlight of the food, lightly battered and fried but has a very satisfying chew texture. The place does take reservations, and it does not get extremely loud unlike many bars!
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
Great space near Grand Central to meet up with friends or colleagues for a casual drink. The bar is very big, so it can easily accommodate larger groups. It is also updated, new, and clean, so the ambiance feels more comfortable than a sports bar or dive bar. Being right next to Grand Central also makes it very convenient to head home right afterwards.

Yelp
They got great reviews, don't they? It's cuz the team at Albert is warm and welcoming! The moment you enter the door the host will check you in with a smile and everyone is so great at hospitality here at Albert's that I actually don't want to try or go any other places by end of the day the prices here in midtown is all the same! I felt warm and welcomed all the time. They have an amazing knowledge and understanding in terms of food and drinks. So I tried this amazing drink "the last word" and believe me when I say this that I am not a drinker or a light drinker and I really love this one! Trust me normally I would never ever drink cocktails period! The atmosphere is really so good that you don't want to leave! If you work or live around here you should absolutely try Albert's out . Last not the least guys this use to be "the public house" before Covid. So you know where this is!!

Yelp
Lovely meal here for brunch. Attentive service, nice food and nice atmosphere. The rock shrimp burger was nice, but I would have liked more of the toppings and I think for the price it should come with fries. My friend enjoyed the grilled zucchini focaccia.
google avatar

Emi B.

Yelp
LOVE this place for the interior and vibe and design. Yet the drinks were a bit underwhelming, perhaps mostly batched so tasted a bit flat?

Rhiannon S.

Yelp
Service was attentive. Great ambiance. We did bottomless brunch drinks for 25$ for 90 minutes. Worth the deal because one mimosa is $17. Food was great. We split the breakfast nachos and sausage egg and cheese. Sausage egg and cheese was good, but could have used better egg. Breakfast nachos were great and highly recommend.

Yelp
My mom booked last minute tickets to the Christmas Spectacular show at Radio City Music Hall the weekend before Christmas. We wanted to grab a late lunch before the show and I was worried there would not be any reservations available anywhere. But luckily Albert's was in the perfect location for our plans and had tables available for late afternoon. The vibes are super relaxed so you almost forget you're in the heart of NYC. The food was delicious as were the bottomless mimosas. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Overall highly recommend Albert's Bar and look forward to visiting again soon!
google avatar

Corinna W.

Yelp
Albert's is such a pretty upscale venue. Drinks were great, prices are on par with what you'd find around the area. Only downside is that it can get super packed and kinda loud. It's like everyone in the nearby offices goes here after work. Reservations highly recommended, though it may not help because it gets so crowded anyway. Would come back earlier next time to try more cocktails and the food!
google avatar

Sylvea H.

Yelp
Excellent food, good service, and a wonderful ambiance. It's in the busy-ness...hustle and bustle of Manhattan, but not if it. We went for brunch on Sunday and it felt like a perfect escape. The interior design gives a warmth mixed with starkness. It's art deco.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a rezzo for a friend group because it was the holiday season. Lovely place. Had a leather curved banquette booth. Remember this when it was Public House. Has a gatsbyesque vibe. Happy to report this is not just a beautiful place. The food was great and the drinks were lovely. Earl grey martini....burger was great.
google avatar

Yelp
Great bartenders and interior space! I can here for happy hour (3-6PM) with coworkers which included $15 martinis and $2 off select beer/wine. The lychee martini was really good and then I tried the crimson and clover but I liked the lychee martini better! I tried some of the arancini and some of the fries from the fish and chips and they were both 10/10 on flavor.
google avatar

Yelp
RATING: 8.3/10 PRO TIP: Come here for a casual spot to grab some surprisingly quality drinks, small bites and in a spacious place that won't have you waiting on line forever. Perfect date spot, post-work drink, or quieter spot to hang with friends impromptu. DRINKS The drinks are thoughtfully and well crafted for a casual spot like this, and will surprise you. Do I think it goes on the world's best bars/NYC? Not necessarily, but I will say that for a place of its caliber it is probably one of its best, in that it is probs one of my now favorite places to grab a casual drink, without much fuss or a long wait, in a beautiful, dimly lit and sleek ambience. AMARO SOUR - in particular was quite delicious and had a lot of depth. FOOD SPATZLE MAC N CHEESE POPCORN MONKFISH** - These two were the best food items of the night, both very shareable. The popcorn monkfish might just be their star item, and is quite fresh, with a nice frittery fry on them. SHOESTRING FRIES - solid, what you want when you order fries. ARANCINI - they use black wild rice which gave it kind of like a tough, brown rice texture and I actually didn't enjoy this at all lol. The marinara was not enough to save it from this dry, chewy flavor. Classic arancinis are melt in your mouth soft and cheesy on the inside. Creative take, but would rather have a regular arancini. FINAL CATEGORY: GREAT (terrible / bad / ok / good / GREAT / excellent)
google avatar

Hillary B.

Yelp
I wasn't here long, but I enjoyed my cocktail. The crimson and clover packed a punch but also had nice flavors. The restaurant is quite large, and has a patio. They also have some of the nicest security you'll find in Manhattan.

Yelp
Large, newly renovated space great for big groups. Cocktails are well made and the menu is expansive..

Yelp
Albert's Bar for the win anytime of day Bunch, quick appetizer, or dinner. I have been to Albert's many times and I adore the ambiance, service and food. My recent visit was for the bottomless brunch with a few friends and i am really happy we decided to make Albert's the choice. Our waitress was fantastic and kept the drinks coming which I must say they have quite the selection to choose from on the bottomless menu; everything from mimosas to espresso martinis. We were all delighted with our food choices, here is a quick rundown of what we had: For the table: - Breakfast Nachos (so much cheese! I would highly recommend) - Banana Bread French Toast Sticks (not super banana tasting, but very good!) Individual Food: - Heirloom Sandwich (so much flavor and I love the green tomatoes!) - this dish is great for vegans! - Sausage, Egg & Cheese (tastes like an elevated McDonald's breakfast sandwich) Yum! - Avocado Toast W/ Salmon (the salmon was perfect and this is a great choice if you like lighter dishes) Everything really hit the spot and everyone was very pleased by the end of the meal. One thing I did want to mention is that Albert's also has a great happy hour ($15 dollar cocktails) my favorites are: - Dirty Martini - Gibson - pickle martini If you live in or are visiting NYC I highly recommend checking out Albert's Bar! You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Pete was so nice to invite us back for dinner. It was extremely packed at 6:30pm on a Thursday but such great energy, we got seated and had dirty gin martinis. I tried a lychee martini this time as well and it was delicious, there was a bit of bubbly in it and not too sweet. My favorite things were the octopus salad and the broken rice Arancini balls. Both were honestly incredible and we got the fish & chips, zucchini flatbread and cauliflower, which was spicy but super yummy as well. Overall had such a great experience and would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Tiffany B.

Yelp
I popped in for a quick drink to kill time before a business dinner. I tried to order the Lycheetini with vodka instead of gin, but I was told it was "already batched." So I ordered it as God (and the mixologist) intended. Absolutely delicious. Fun, laid-back happy hour vibe with the NLDS game on. Beautiful bar and great ambiance. Look forward to coming back and trying the food sometime.

Cynthia A.

Yelp
Colleague selected Albert's for an after work happy hour. I tried the dirty pickle martini (cause, why not?) and the lychee martini (perfection). Since we were a large group, we were able to try all of the appetizers. Everything came out quickly and so tasty! Anything on the menu would be a good pick - I loved the shishito peppers, cauliflower, and arancini. The service was fantastic considering we had 15 people in our party and it was game three of the World Series. Would definitely visit Albert's again next time I'm in the city.

Yelp
Went in the other night and enjoyed the experience. My wife and I stopped for a drink while walking around. Nice looking place with lots of varied seating and outdoor seating as well. I had the martini with Japanese gin and enjoyed it. Didn't eat anything. Nice service from bartender.
google avatar

Deanna S.

Yelp
I picked this place because of great Yelp reviews and I was so happy with recommendation! Will forever be remembered as the bar that made the BEST dirty martini I have ever had!!!! Hard not to want to come back several times on a short trip recently! Bartenders were great! Fun vibes and while it looks crowded at times there was plenty space to enjoy both drinks and food even without a reservation.

Yelp
Sitting in the Manhattan district is a great place to try a Manhattan cocktail. Non-alcohol options are also drinkable
google avatar

Tatiana C.

Yelp
Great bar with amazing drinks and food. This bar is near my office so my coworkers and I frequent it a lot but only because it's a truly fantastic bar--and we're pretty picky. First off, the ambiance is stellar. A perfect place for a post work day or pre dinner drink. Every single drink I've gotten here whether it be wine or a cocktail has been delicious. My favorite however, is the espresso martini. It's so delectable and has a perfect hint of chocolate. We've also gotten things to pick at like fries and hummus, all great. Lastly, service here is excellent. The bar tenders are very personable and friendly. 10/10

Yelp

Yelp
Looking for live jazz this is the place to come to Stopped in at 2 for a bite to eat and at 3 the music started. Very nice surprise since we weren't expecting it The Mac and cheese we ordered before the kitchen closed at 3 for an 1/2 hour. Nice little bit before the fried chicken sandwich which was very very good. Beautiful room very modern style with a wonderful bar with many selections of beers and wines. Also makes a very good manhattan No dessert this trip but will be back.

Yelp
Albert's is a unique and expansive cocktail bar in Midtown! Albert's cocktails are delectable. There are several special martinis that I cannot wait to try. They also have a solid (and ice-cold) craft beer selection, as well as a tasty menu. To start, we had the mortadella toastie and the jerk chicken drummies. The golden boy chicken sandwich and the Italian mushroom hoagie are great. On the side, try the spatzle mac and cheese or the seasoned jojo's (extremely crispy potato wedges with Kewpie mayo). The portions are nice and the service is nicer. The space is beautiful and enormous. Great for a group or a date. I'm thankful that Albert's is in the area. There probably isn't anything like it around. The kitchen's open until 11pm. Get the black and white cookie before it closes. Also Elena is the best!

Yelp
Stopped in just after a week opening has the old public house feel, friendly staff, good drinks and and great prices. I will be back. I did not get to try the food but I am sure is it top knot h like the service Some cools Drinks on tap worth checking out.

Yelp
Had a great time here! We had a small happy hour with some coworkers and it was lovely! The passion fruit martini was phenomenal!!! I'm really picky with cocktails, as normally they are too sweet or I don't want to finish them, but this was absolute perfection. I really wanted a 2nd one (which I never do!) and only didn't order another for fear of getting tipsy in front of my boss. The bites we had were all so tasty! We tried: Shishito peppers - nice and mild; delicious Potato wedges - love me some thick potatoes! Fries - perfectly crisp and seasoned Clams casino - yum! Great cheesy flavor Monkish bites - delish Spicy cauliflower - great flavor The service was lovely and attentive, and I liked the booth we had to view the beautiful ambiance.

Yelp
Absolutely hands down one of the best places in town.. spectacular setting, great food, and service that is personalized but not overbearing. Let's start with literally the best chicken sandwich I've ever had... you may think it's just a chicken sandwich how great can it be? Well give it a shot, I promise you that by three bites in you'll know what I'm talking about as all the flavors come together. Sublime. Excellent beer on tap choices as well, not just your run of the mill this and that but for a person for a more discerning palate there is a Kolsch for example, not often seen but for those of us who know our beer this is a solid selection that only makes your day get a little brighter. And speaking of fun, be sure to check out the bathroom tiles... Many thanks to Carlos for showing an Angeleno trying to avoid the rain and looking for some good food a great time. One of the most accomplished bartenders and overall nice human beings I've encountered in Manhattan. Thanks Carlos! Albert's is at the top of my list the next time I'm in town!

Kristen M.

Yelp
Great find! Awesome dirty martini. Wonderful atmosphere! It was a rainy day and still holiday season and this was a hidden gem close to busy Rockefeller Center.
google avatar

Sharyl M.

Yelp
Knowledgeable and helpful mixologist. Made some wicked espresso drinks for the people next to me. I had told him I was drinking bourbon sours and he whipped up a delicious cocktail using Japanese whiskey. View of Chrysler Building and Hudson from here. Very close to Times Squarw.

Yelp
Great bar hidden near grand central. - very clean - very spacious - tons of seating (finally) - outdoor seating when it's warm - great cocktails - loved the pickle martini - good prices - good beer selection It's a humble, clean, and new bar. Worth a visit with friends for drinks!

Yelp
OUTSTANDING FOR GROUP EVENTS. We hosted a client happy hour for 40 people at Albert's bar and had a blast. Jennifer the event coordinator was incredibly helpful and accommodating to pull together our event and food/drink package on very short notice. We arrived to find our reserved space roped off VIP-style with servers ready to rock. Food and drinks (both delicious, btw) came out with expert timing and the service was top notch for our 2 hr block. I'd highly recommend Albert's for medium/large parties.

Yelp
For me, this place is 5 stars. Great vibes, along with warm, hospitable and welcoming staff is just why I can consider this place a 5 star. Their food and drinks are spectacular! Especially, repeat, MOST ESPECIALLY, the Yellowstone Collins. It's just addicting! Very recommended! I will definitely come back, maybe a few friends with me . You can count on it!
