The Best Restaurants in Paris, According to a French Food Expert | Eater

"In his new restaurant, Aldehyde (the name of molecules that give cilantro its characteristic flavor), young French Tunisian chef Youssef Marzouk cooks some intriguing autobiographical dishes that make his dual nationality edible. With a pastry chef father who specializes in North African pastries and a mother who owns a restaurant, Marzouk grew up as a food lover and decided to become a chef after getting a degree in chemistry. Now, after most recently working in the three-Michelin-star kitchen of chef Arnaud Donckele at Cheval Blanc Paris hotel (“I was fascinated by his sauces”), Marzouk has his own place, with a prix fixe menu that evolves regularly and runs to vividly original dishes like a Roman-style flash-grilled artichoke with figs; a duck-filled ravioli in a luscious sauce Phnom Penh, Marzouk’s take on Cambodian cooking; and lamb with an espuma of mechouia, a Tunisian cooked salad of tomatoes, peppers, onions, and garlic. Located in the 4th Arrondissement. Best for: Catching a rising star." - Alexander Lobrano

A delightful, delicious and actually masterful meal. We almost cancelled due to timing and are so happy we did not. It was the best meal we had in Paris and I cannot recommend enough. Our server was actually the chef which we did not know at the time, and he was lovely! Service was perfect. The food was not only delicious and creative, but it was gorgeous…the fish, chicken and cheese dishes were my favorite…only note I have is that perhaps I am not up to the task of beets on my dessert…but the meal was stupendous!

The dinner was amazing! We did the five course experience and I almost asked to change to the seven course because we didn’t want it to end! It was really one of the best dinners I’ve had and would highly recommend it! All the flavors you get to taste, it’s just surprising how something you think it’s simple and ordinary like a cauliflower can taste so amazing! Also, the best service! Can’t wait to be able to come back!

My sister and I had a wonderful experience here! Chef Youssef was able to paint a picture of his life in Tunisia and the flavors of his childhood. Truly a beautiful blend of story telling through various Tunisian flavors. The sommelier/front of house manager was also wonderful in his wine choices, attentiveness and overall kindness. Thank you for an incredible dining experience! We will be back :)

We visited as a party of 3 for the 'signature' 7-course menu. Every single bite that we enjoyed during our evening at Aldehyde was incredibly delicious. The flavor of every dish was perfectly balanced and well-executed. We loved how some of the dishes highlighted family recipes from the chef's childhood. The chef and sommelier were so warm and welcoming and made our dining experience so comfortable. Thank you for creating such a wonderful, memorable dining experience that was a highlight of our time in Paris!

I had lunch there on weekdays, booked for 1239 and the restaurant was almost full by then, so reservations is a must. The atmosphere of the restaurant makes you feel warm and welcome. Staff were all very nice. I had a 3 course lunch and all courses were presented nicely and they all taste good and fresh. I’m not sure is that because it’s a spring menu, all courses had a hint of sour or citrus taste. It’s very refreshing at the beginning but I’m not sure about that for all courses, or may be it’s just I’m not into citrus or taste of sour.

Lunch. Got in before pricing/menu updated with their star. Dishes were creative and super fresh. Decent wine list. Extremely attentive staff. Portions were ample. Had to ask for salt for the main dish, unfortunately, but otherwise enjoyed the meal and would return to try the dinner.

Absolutely amazing! This is my second visit this year and the second time around was just as impeccable the first. Chef Marzouk’s menu is flawless and the service is unmatched. A must go place if you are in Paris. Or go to Paris just for a meal here if you can.

First time we have been to Paris twice in one year and we made a point to visit again, especially after they received a well deserved Michelin star. Everything was on point.
