The Best Restaurants in Paris, According to a French Food Expert | Eater

"In his new restaurant, Aldehyde (the name of molecules that give cilantro its characteristic flavor), young French Tunisian chef Youssef Marzouk cooks some intriguing autobiographical dishes that make his dual nationality edible. With a pastry chef father who specializes in North African pastries and a mother who owns a restaurant, Marzouk grew up as a food lover and decided to become a chef after getting a degree in chemistry. Now, after most recently working in the three-Michelin-star kitchen of chef Arnaud Donckele at Cheval Blanc Paris hotel (“I was fascinated by his sauces”), Marzouk has his own place, with a prix fixe menu that evolves regularly and runs to vividly original dishes like a Roman-style flash-grilled artichoke with figs; a duck-filled ravioli in a luscious sauce Phnom Penh, Marzouk’s take on Cambodian cooking; and lamb with an espuma of mechouia, a Tunisian cooked salad of tomatoes, peppers, onions, and garlic. Located in the 4th Arrondissement. Best for: Catching a rising star." - Alexander Lobrano

I had lunch there on weekdays, booked for 1239 and the restaurant was almost full by then, so reservations is a must. The atmosphere of the restaurant makes you feel warm and welcome. Staff were all very nice. I had a 3 course lunch and all courses were presented nicely and they all taste good and fresh. I’m not sure is that because it’s a spring menu, all courses had a hint of sour or citrus taste. It’s very refreshing at the beginning but I’m not sure about that for all courses, or may be it’s just I’m not into citrus or taste of sour.

A flawless experience! The signature menu is generous yet perfectly balanced throughout the courses. Starters and mains are varied, with beautifully executed flavor combinations. Special mention for the desserts – truly exceptional, far beyond what you’d find in many Michelin-starred restaurants. The service is outstanding: you can feel the precision of a team with top-tier experience, while still creating a warm, relaxed bistro atmosphere.

The seven-course dinner menu with wine pairing was the best food I’ve had in Paris. Every dish was beautifully executed and packed with well blended, unique flavors. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, with flawless service and a really professional team. Chef Youssef Marzouk’s passion and talent came through in every dish.

Aldehyde is the kind of place that makes you fall in love with dining all over again. Tucked away yet full of character, it’s a cozy spot with a vibrant, young team that brings real energy to the experience. Chef Youssef and his team are crafting something truly special here, each dish is precise, creative, and full of soul. Just like the Michelin guide says: worth a detour. When in Paris, Aldehyde is an absolute must. P.S. I love an open kitchen

Memorable Culinary Experience From the moment we stepped into **Aldéhyde**, we were struck by its elegant yet inviting décor. The ambiance was a perfect blend of modern sophistication and warmth, with tasteful design elements that made us feel both relaxed and excited for the meal ahead. The service was impeccable from start to finish— attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the dining experience. This same level of care was reflected in every dish, where technique and creativity shone through. A true highlight was meeting Chef Youssef Marzouk whose talent and warm hospitality made our meal unforgettable. He took time to come thank us and share briefly about his inspirations, and his dedication to seasonal, high-quality ingredients was evident in every bite. We chose the €45 lunch menu (entrée, plat, dessert), an absolute steal for the level of craftsmanship on the plate. Paired with a superb bottle of red wine*, it felt like a luxurious experience at an incredible value. Our meal began with an amuse-bouche—though slightly lacking in depth, it was a playful start. Each course that followed was executed with finesse, showcasing Chef Marzouk’s skillful touch. Aldéhyde is a gem —where outstanding food, a beautiful setting, and heartfelt hospitality come together seamlessly. We’ll undoubtedly be back to explore the ever-changing menu. A must-visit for discerning food lovers.

It was a good experience for lunch. Everything was perfect. We had their breast duck and it was melt on your mouth. Dessert was also good, unique and tasty. Wine selection was great. Server was great. Downside is that it’s an open kitchen so beware that your clothes might be smelly afterwards. But I can’t say anything more rather than recommend this restaurant to everyone I know. It’s a gem!

One of the best food experiences I’ve ever had. Every course was at least very good and some were the best versions I’ve ever had. There were some very unique flavors and combinations that anyone would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. Each wine pairing was well thought out as well. Finally, as a young American person of color, I’ve had pretty bad experiences with service in Paris but not here. I was treated the same as all the older white folk in the restaurant and it was truly a joy to eat here. Shout out to the chef and his team for such a great experience.

Every dish was exquisite…. Pairing well done. No menu. Lots of surprises and great feelings in my mouth and through my eyes. A new and more pleasing translation of what many put in the “precious” realm. This team will rise. So go before the anniversaries pass. One realizes along this culinary journey that Cost has no meaning in this environ Do not miss.
