"This airy, high-ceilinged Mexican food standby in Litchfield Park stays busy, thanks in large part to a menu that goes well beyond the Mexican-American classics to include chilaquiles divorciados, Oaxacan tlayuda (using large, homemade corn tortillas), tinga tostadas, crispy potato tacos, and cochinita pibil. The restaurant is famous for its moles — black and faintly spicy red — as well as daily specials such as concha French toast." - Nikki Buchanan

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Great, quick service. Our server, Mauricio was very polite and attentive! All the dishes were beautifully prepped and tastes amazing.

I was in the area and decided to stop here for lunch. Of course I had to try the chilaquiles. I got the red sauce with mole sauce on the side. Also added chorizo. It was amazing! Great sauce, crunchy chips, good portion size. I was surprised that chips and salsa are not free, but not a huge deal. Recommend this spot for lunch or dinner. It wasn't super busy and there was no wait to sit down.

I seriously can’t say enough good things about this place! The Chilaquiles are hands-down the BEST in Glendale — flavorful, fresh, and always cooked to perfection. I’m also obsessed with the Machaca tacos… they are absolutely fabulous every single time. Their coffee? Out of this world! The service is consistently top-tier, and the owners truly make you feel like family. I also love that they bring out mole and chips the moment you sit down — such a nice touch! The place is spotless and always well-kept. Yes, there can be a bit of a wait, but trust me, the food is always worth it. Highly recommend! 🌮☕❤️

Google
Alebrijes has really good authentic food. We love the chilaquiles and cafe de olla. The service our server Mauricio provided was on point! Always making sure we were good and attentive to anything we needed. I gave the atmosphere one less star because it can get a little loud with the music and people trying to talk over that. But the environment is fun overall.

Google
Mauricio was a great server! Him and the staff kept the Cafe de Olla cafe coming and it was soo delicious! Los Chilaquiles Divorciados - Oaxaca style was the best! It was such a great experience and the food was so yummy! We arrived at 8am and it was perfect timing.

Jesse Hernandez

Google
Third time here, and the service provided by Mauricio was amazing just like the food. If you ever decide to stop by I strongly recommend the Cafe de Olla for your drink of choice. I had the Mole Enchiladas with the side of chicken and it was perfect. Def will continue coming back!

Holly

Google
The chilaquiles are incredible (I have had them twice - they never disappoint). Had a goat cheese poblano omelette once just to try something different it was not great at all. So just will stick to the regular.

While in Arizona, we enjoyed eating at this local restaurant; the cuisine is quite good, the staff is kind, and the atmosphere is great.

Yelp
Don't let the location fool you, it's tucked in a bit off the main intersection but the food is great. Service was solid and attentive of needs/ordering. The salsas that come with the chips were very nice, two options one of which was spicy and well balanced and a fresh traditional salsa too. The mango jicama and shrimp appetizer was great. Really fresh, nice melody of flavors, and just the right level of spiciness. The chiles rellenos were really tasty too, very well made red sauce covered them with a perfect amount of cheese that filled them. I left the plate extra clean, delicious! It's the most quiet place inside, so relaxed vibe for sure. Probably the best place for Mexican food in the immediate area of Goodyear / Litchfield Park!

Yelp
Rare to see so many good reviews. Food was very average. Not bad, not good, just average. Waitress was very nice, but wait time to get food cooked was horrible. 45 minutes for 4 plates was way too excessive when restaurant wasn't full. I don't think I'll return.

Anahi A.

Yelp
We found this place while looking for somewhere to eat with the family while visiting Arizona. Let me tell you we are so glad we found it! We fell in love! The food is amazing! The service is top notch and the atmosphere feels cozy and welcoming. We waited for about an hour since we were a big party (10) but the food was truly worth the wait! Our waiter Garret was extremely attentive and polite. We come from California and we are definitely coming back!

Serena S.

Yelp
Last year, we attempted to visit for Cinco de Mayo, but after a two-hour wait with no table in sight, we reluctantly left. This time, we're thrilled to have finally made it. Though the restaurant is small, it has a charming atmosphere. Our server was incredibly friendly and offered excellent recommendations. The food was fresh and delicious--we enjoyed the taco trio, Carne Asada Ala Tampiqueña, and café de olla. It's clear they take great pride in their offerings. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
It's a very simple fool proof formula that I use when gauging whether or not the food will be good at a Mexican restaurant...ARROZ...yep the Rice! And at this place they nailed it. Specialties include the yummy chili relleno! And it holds true. Ooey Gooey cheese, perfectly battered flavor chilis swimming in a delicious mildly spicy red sauce! Yummy! Wow! Delicious! Chicken Flautas were devoured and they came with all the accoutrements and The chips and salsa disappeared and so did the super tasty and yummy pork tostadas. Portions are big enough to share! The Agua Frescas were refreshing and I recommend the Hibiscus flavor or as we say Jamaica (pronounced Hah-my-kah) Super friendly service too. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served at this Oaxacan restaurant cleverly called Alabrijes which if you're familiar are these cute little colorful folk wooden carved critters that when you shop for one the Alabrije that you pick actually really picks you. And I'm happy I picked Alabrijes for dinner! My new favorite restaurant in Litchfield!! Go now and be ready to wait in line at weekend breakfast.

Jenny S.

Yelp
We visited this restaurant in the evening with our daughter. They often have live music on the weekend and there is both indoor outdoor seating. The service was spectacular and we absolutely loved our dishes. Such fresh food with wonderful flavors! We will definitely be back!

Jeremy D.

Yelp
The food was average but the wait times to sit down were over an hour and then you have to wait another 45 minutes for your food . Not sure if ill recommend this place.

Paige K.

Yelp
So this little spot has been open for a while, but only recently did they change their hours to include dinner so I finally got to try it! When you walk in the decor and layout feels like you've entered a mom and pop place in Mexico, it's cute and authentic and there's a patio outside that's beautiful when the weather is nice! The staff are quick and polite, and you can tell it's family owned so they actually care about their customers. I went this last Saturday and they even had a musician playing covers of popular songs such as "hey there Delilah" which was sweet and made the whole experience so inviting. The menu itself is rather limited, half of it being catered to their brunch and the other being lunch/dinner. But the food was so good! It was authentic and unlike most traditional Mexican food you get in Arizona! I tried the dinner enchilada special (red sauce) with rice and beans; and I loved everything! The sauce wasn't my absolute favorite, it had a strong tomato taste above all else so next time I'd do the green; but it was still a great dish! Other people at my table ordered the taco trio (chicken and asada) which I tried bites of and loved, and the enchiladas with green sauce which were better than the red sauce. All the dinner specials come with black beans and rice and I must say they were to die for! Full of flavor and I could easily just order large side portions of them. The chips and salsa brought to the table were sooo good; the chips were thick and right out of the fryer, the pico was fresh, and the salsa was an interesting orange color with a hint of spice and so delicious! Overall I highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic Sonoran Mexican food! I only gave 4 stars because the limited menu and hours, but I hear they specialize in brunch so I plan to come back and try the chilaquiles which looked amazing on the menu.

Yelp
Decided to come here on a whim on a random Thursday morning for breakfast- no regrets! I'm totally coming back to have some drinks and dinner sometime. Alebrijes feels homely, and adequately hits on the Dia De Los Muertos theme. Alebrijes, tapestries, tile art, and more- I absolutely adore the decor! We had great and friendly service. I did feel like the food took a bit long (seems like a common complaint according to the reviews) but it wasn't an awful wait, and to me it was worth it because the quality of the food was phenomenal! The horchata was perfect (those who like their horchata more watered down - you trippin) and the iced vanilla latte was just the way I like it... Sweet! :P Now, all my friends know that the camera eats before we do when they dine with me! But.. Alebrijes had me questioning that philosophy because everything looked so bomb when it came out! But I had to take the photos of these amazing dishes to encourage more people to get their booties over here STAT. What can I say, I almost destroyed my chicken Enchiladas Suizas in one bite. The Huevos Rancheros dish was also cooked to perfection. The meat in both of the dishes tasted perfect! Brunch goes until 3pm and Lunch starts at 10am. The menu is so big, I had such a hard time deciding what I wanted. I can definitely see this becoming a regular spot... especially cause I NEED to try some of these delicious sounding pancakes that Alebrijes has to offer. Can't wait to try dinner soon! :) Thanks for the great time!

Manuel A.

Yelp
I ordered the shredded beef cheese enchiladas with both sauces. The green salsa was really good. The red sauce tasted just ok.. We are in I wish chips and a Salsa were offered but nope you gotta pay for it extra.. for the cost and what you get I don't think it's worth it..

Sheila M.

Yelp
Service was great...food interesting twist of flavors. Drinks were spot on... cute little place! Our waitress was very good!!

Ed L.

Yelp
Who would think a place with old banquet chairs and tables would be this good. The chips seemed house made or at least very fresh. The salsa has a unique thick consistency and a decent kick - in a good way. The carne asada had a nice char, something that seems to be hard to come by. My wife had the chili relleno "best she's ever had"! The sauce had a tangy side - so good. Happy hour margaritas were fresh made by our waitress and a bargain. We have a New Mexican favorite!

Thomas J.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. If you have been to "real" Mexico you will be right at home. I will absolutely be back.

Roxana M.

Yelp
Have been here several times and the food and service is always consistent. The staff is very friendly and helpful when ordering. We were given a plate of chips and two different kinds of mole to try. We ordered cafe de olla, the empanadas de papa y chorizo, the mole chilaquiles with chicken, a burrito and the concha with ice cream. Everything was delicious!

Maria T.

Yelp
The wait is worth it! Went to Alebrijes on a Sunday morning for brunch. We were a party of six, so waiting was to be expected. Overall the ambiance is cozy, but a little loud. If you're expecting a subdued quiet meal, this is not the place to go on Sunday mornings. Food is typical Southwestern Mexican, black beans, red and green sauces, chilaquiles, etc, but with a healthy twist to most plates. This really impressed us since we all try our best to eat conscientiously. They have a few child plates, so family-friendly is a plus. Must have: Cafe de Olla, and the dark mole, delicious! If you're in the area, give it a try! I hope you enjoy it as well.

Allison A.

Yelp
I will never come back here, everything from the tortilla chips to the salsa to the chicken on our chilaquiles were store bought and boiled. The food took forever to be prepared and our waitress tried upselling us on salsa and chips making it sound like it was complimentary while we waited on our food.

Lisa B.

Yelp
I'm visiting from LA and I found this little gem on yelp. The name definitely fits the place with the decor. The food was delicious! I think these might have been the best chilaquiles I've ever had! We also ordered the empanadas and yes they are as good as they look. My son had a kids breakfast with a pancake, egg, bacon and fruit, it was yummy. My family tried other items on the menu and there were no complaints. My group was 3 adults and 3 kids and gratuity is added to parties of 6 which is understandable. Service was efficient and everything was brought out in a timely manner. If you're thinking of trying this place, you should.

Filiberto E.

Yelp
Some friends and I came on a holiday and to my surprise it was not that busy. The place was spacious, and had AC inside. The food was amazing with authentic flavors bursting. The decor is nice but could be more colorful and lively. The service was really good and fast. Overall a great dining experience at a local gem.

Chloe J.

Yelp
Very good food ! The best compared to being back home in LA but totally worth it. We love going here for dinner and or a last breakfast

Liliana A.

Yelp
Came here for the first time and it was delicious! We got the chilaquiles and they were the perfect amount of crispness. Will for sure be coming back to try more dishes . Staff was also very sweet and makes for a perfect family spot!

Mark L.

Yelp
Their music is too loud. We intended to have breakfast this morning, but upon entry, we were overwhelmed with the sound level of their music. Regardless of the always excellent food, we won't be back.

Marco T.

Yelp
Highly recommend perfection! Try the chilaquiles alebrijes with carne asada.. also try "cafe de la olla" so delicious.

Danira S.

Yelp
Food was great and delicious, service was was impeccable just wait was too long even tho there were empty tables . Music was amazing.

Samantha U.

Yelp
Cute little hidden gem. Great tasting authentic Mexican food, adorable decor, great service. Authentic Mexican food is hard to find around the valley but this place hit the mark. The nopalito salad tasted just like my mom's! I can't wait to go back!

M G.

Yelp
What a great find!!!! This small little place is definitely a weekly visit for us. I personally love the green enchiladas. The green sauce is super good. If you want authentic Mexican food this is the place! The staff is super friendly and you get that mom and pop family business feel.

Cesar B.

Yelp
The food is great. Very small location. I would give a 5 star but they took a long time to bring the food out to us. Everyone there is very friendly. The cost for the portion is very good as well. Make sure u get a cafe de olla

Yohan S.

Yelp
Surprised to find an Oaxacan restaurant with tlayuda and mole in Phoenix (had to drive far within LA to find food this good). Came for breakfast and stayed for lunch. Sat at bar immediately and had great, friendly service. While waiting for tlayuda, just crazed out with coffee and chips, with red mole on one side, black mole on the other half. Three meat tlayuda came topped with blue corn tortilla and cut into 4 sandwich like pieces. Food is tasty and filling.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
I think this will be one of my go-to brunch spots in the Litchfield area. Absolutely loved all of the décor and their theme! It's a small space but they have quite a few tables and also have outdoor seating. We ordered the Chorizo & Poblano Scramble and Alebrijes Chilaquiles in red sauce and they were both very delicious! I would say that at the end we felt like we were getting rushed out of the door a little bit as they asked us pretty frequently if they could take our stuff even though we still had food and were eating. Other than that, will definitely be back!

Mike R.

Yelp
Well, it was a cold Friday night and warm Mole sounded comforting so Alebrijes naturally came to mind. We arrived to a mostly full restaurant (good for them) and we were seated quickly. Our sever was a joy to talk with and she really seemed to pay special attention to us. I really enjoyed her presence. Well this night they had a small band (a keyboard and singer) that was playing everything from rock to Christmas music. The keyboard was one that could mimic many different instruments. The keyboardist was very skilled and the singer was right on key.I really enjoyed them! They definitely added to the evenings enjoyable experience. This trip we ordered tres enchiladas and this time I tried a Chile Relleno that said that it was authentic. Well, I hate to say that I really didn't like the Relleno at all! They used a pablano pepper which was meaty and tough. Also there was a strong taste of vinegar, I assume Tabasco. I guess my preference is hatch chili with tomato sauce and no Tabasco. I wouln't order that again, but my wife's enchiladas were really, really good. Also, I love the chips and mole they serve when first seated. Alebrijes really hit the spot tonight! It will be enchiladas for sure next time. Thanks folks!

Maggy B.

Yelp
If you wanna feel like you're eating IN Mexico then you should eat here!! The flavors are delicious and the servers are super sweet! The decor is basic but it's super clean inside and the crowds it draws is right on point. We will be back over and over! Our server was Gloria. She's a sweet girl. Hope to get her again when we return because we WILL be back.

Claudia M.

Yelp
Margaritas were excellent. Mauricio, Alexa, and Gabriel G did an excellent job with customer service. The food was excellent. The Carr Band did great with their music providing for a great ambiance on a Friday night.

Steph C.

Yelp
We came in today for breakfast, we were quoted a time of 20-25 min wait, we were seated within that time. We waited in the car because they take your number down and call you when the table is ready which is great because id rather wait in my AC car than outside. Once seated we waited a few minutes for the drink order I had the vanilla iced latte which was perfect and my husband had the Baileys expresó drink ( I cannot remember the name) he loved it. We ordered Shrimp mango ceviche as an appetizer which was refreshing and delicious. We ordered chilaquiles I had the Alebrijes chilaquiles with shredded chicken and eggs my husband had the chilaquiles divorciados with ribeye steak. We then ordered horchata which was also delicious. If you're coming here on the weekend expect to have some wait, you'll also wait for your food, the wait is totally worth in my opinion. Will definitely be back, can't wait to try other items in the menu.

Giovani M.

Yelp
The service here is horrible! Got sat down and the server took 30 min to attend to us.

Saul O.

Yelp
1.5hr wait for a table for two!!!!!! I would have waited 2hrs This place is bomb Make sure to try the Mexican Bloody Mary con una cold Pacifico Chilaquiles divorciados for me and chilaquiles rojos for my wife Worth the wait for sure

Katherine K.

Yelp
Amazing place! Server was friendly and food us amazing! Do yourself a favor and order the empanadas! I'll definitely be coming back for brunch for the concha with ice cream. Super clean spot too!

Daniel G.

Yelp
Once again Alebrijes did not disappoint! the food was exceptionally delicious, the Carr Street Band played all the greatest hits!!! Mauricio maid the tastiest margaritas and Alexa was extremely friendly and provided great service. we had tacos and the quesadillas rusticas. Will keep coming back to enjoy a great Friday evening after a long hard work week. thank you team Alebrijes

Ana A.

Yelp
I've been here twice and wanted to give a second chance before leaving my review. I will say the location is very cute with all their decor, very traditional to day of the dead. The service can be very slow, specially during busy times, be aware don't come super hungry cause you'll be hungry for a bit lol. Now for the food this is very traditional Oaxaca style food. Which is good if you know and very different if you don't n know the style of food. The portions are good size. The Mole is something they are known for its pretty good. The food overall is good. I say give it a try but for sure come with enough time.

Josefina C.

Yelp
Everything about this place is heavenly. The red mole is crazy amazing. Guacamole is the best I've had anywhere. If you're vegetarian or vegan - or even if you're not (like me) - the potato pablano tacos are sublime - served with jicama, beet, carrot salad. Flip side, their pazole is outstanding. Not always offered, but if you're a meat lover and it's available... go for it. Service is warm and prompt, cocktails are delicious (skinny Cadillac A+). The only thing I wish were different is to move this place to my own neighborhood back home.

Carmen S.

Yelp
Super good food! The chilaquiles were made really well and tons of flavor but my favorite was the French toast concha! It was the best thing I've had in a hot minute we will be definitely coming back

Veronica C.

Yelp
Oh my gosh this place was delicious everything was amazing the coffee was one of the best I've ever had the food was delicious and the dessert was to die for I'm not even exaggerating The employees were very helpful and friendly for me. It was five out of five definitely recommend a third

Junior A.

Yelp
Food was good . Had the chilaquiles with carne asada , eggs and mole sauce. Service was good even with a party of 7 . Nothing to complain about that just that they did a good job . The restaurant is nice and they have a patio for out side seating .

Cassy A.

Yelp
Wow, quiet honestly the best Huevos Rancheros I have ever had! We live in Texas and left this place almost in tears knowing that I will possibly never get to experience their Huevos Rancheros ever again. Overall the waiters were super friendly, the restaurant was bright and clean. We went for breakfast and I got the cafe de ollo and my husband got a Bloody Mary, both were excellent. My husband said you could tell their Bloody Mary base was homemade and super fresh. My coffee was lightly sweet and perfectly spiced. And of course the Huevos Rancheros my words alone won't do it justice, you just need to go and try it (it's amazing)

Kelly T.

Yelp
Food was super super good Place was really cute, music was nice Good service, got sat super quick (:

Francisco C.

Yelp
We came for brunch, it was our first time here and were gladly surprised. We ordered cold latte and cappuccino they were really good. For meal we shared chilaquiles divorciados and chose arrachera; they were the best ones we have tried in the Phoenix area. It's about and hour drive for us but we are planning to comeback and add them to our rotation.

Li Y.

Yelp
My all time favorite Mexican eatery and favorite meal during my limited tasting tour of Phoenix. While I had not had any bad Mexican food while in Phoenix, this place would surely be on my regular rotation if I lived in the area! Excited to be brunching here, I ordered the chilaquiles with ribeye. Both came absolutely delicious. Best chilaquiles I have ever had. Knowing it would be too much food, I parceled out 2/3 of the steak. The three of us who ate the steak agreed, it was so tasty! Other dishes ordered at the table and equally amazing were the breakfast burrito, the dulce de leche French toast, and the power omelette bowl. I was actually coveting that power omelette with my eyes. It was so colorful and packed with amazingly great ingredients! Would definitely order that one next time or...a larger/full portion of the best chilaquiles...or the chilaquiles and ribeye again. Or...dear, I just don't know. So much goodness here! Go check Alebrijes out. A cute eatery with both shaded outdoor and cool ac indoor tables.

Michaela M.

Yelp
Location is a little hidden but it's a very cute restaurant with extremely friendly service. The Chef (possible owner) came out several times to greet our party of 12 and make sure all accommodations were taken care of. The food, OUTSTANDING! From the complimentary chips with mole sauce, to the appetizers-we chose Queso Fundido con Chorizo-delicious! The cocktails could've had just a tad more liquor but delicious nonetheless. Our entire party finished each of our plates, meaning we were all very pleased with our choices. As if we were all already full, we chose to share a few desserts, the concha with coconut ice cream being my absolute favorite, I will return to order it and I WILL not share! Overall, great time had by my family and I.

La Y.

Yelp
I really loved there food !! Definitely a GEM ! Great service Mauricio was great !! Tried the chilaquiles! And the micheladas

Valentin T.

Yelp

Michael J.

Yelp
First off the building and decor are very cute and welcoming. The host was smiling and happy to see guests. He was super friendly too. There was a wait of about 20 minutes. Not a big deal on a peaceful Saturday morning. Once seated we were greeted quickly by our server. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. We ordered the appetizer on the recommendation of the server. It was quite tasty but pricey. I would skip it next go round. Next came our brunch choices. Both were hot and delicious. I chose the poblano and goat cheese omelette and he had the chilaquiles with chorizo. Generous portions and very good. We will definitely be back.

Glow S.

Yelp
Great food nice servers ! They do need to get decaf coffee and offer hot tea. The cheesy huevos rancheros were awesome
