"Neon lights, private c-shaped “cenote booths,” and an impressive collection of tequilas on display at the bar almost give Alejandro’s nightclub vibes, but once you order a just-sweet-enough dirty horchata, and drag a warm chip through their signature guacamole, you’ll realize the real party is at your table. This buzzy Mexican spot is where you should order a lot and share (so come with a group). Get the masa tempura, which gives sweet corn the crispy tempura treatment, the little gem salad (ask for extra cilantro dressing since you’ll want to dip everything in it), and at least two different kinds of tacos, like the standout charred cauliflower al pastor and cochinita pibil with pickled onions." - allison green, gabi moskowitz

We stopped in at Alejandro‘s during a work conference. This was a great way to start the week! The atmosphere was a mix between romantic and relaxing. The weight staff was very knowledgeable and provided prompt service. There were several different areas for seating that range from cozy, to intimate, to more spacious seating. The kitchen is located in the area where the more spacious seating is available. From your seat you were able to watch the chefs make, and plate your meal. The presentation of the food is everything at this place! Every single item that was ordered tasted great, in addition to the beautiful plating the flavors were amazing. If you were in the area, I would definitely recommend stopping in. Definitely try the salsa flight. Our group had several different desserts, but my favorite was the coconut cake!

Wasn’t expecting much but was disappointed it wasn’t better. The octopus was way too salty, the steak was also very salty. The ceviche was just okay also. I did enjoy the drinks.

Came here for my birthday dinner and I’m just sad I haven’t come sooner. Started with the chips and guacamole and I knew we were off to a good start when it was the best guacamole I’ve ever had. So fresh and delicious! Then we went ahead and ordered Cochinita Pibil tacos which my boyfriend and I order whenever we find some because it’s not often served at restaurants and it’s one of our favorites. This did not disappoint. So juicy, flavorful, and I was impressed the tortillas held up so well. While we were both stuffed, I could not resist and decided to go big. We ordered the birria and bone marrow tacos and I’m so happy we did. My goodness. Perfection. This place is a little on the pricey side and it SHOULD be. It’s worth every dollar. You can taste the quality and the passion they put in this food. These tacos are tied for my favorite tacos of all time. And we’ve had tacos in Mexico. And the guacamole? Hands down the best. No contest there. These chefs are doing the Lord’s work. And the cocktails were absolutely great as well. I will be back for sure and already raved to multiple people how good this food was.

In town for business and some friends recommended Alejandro’s to us to try. Wow! 10/10 experience and food! Guava Margarita and spiked horchata are must haves. The mocajete is amazing and you get plenty of food with it! Juan is the best you will not be disappointed!

Was really pleasantly surprised here. Upscale Mexican with homemade salsa and tortillas. Cocktails are really balanced and great. Would come back for sure.

Google
I was skeptical because of the vibe but it was really delicious and authentic. Ordered octopus, ahi tuna tostada, cesar salad (it originated in Mexico?) and carne asada main. Would order everything again and found the service great.

We popped in to satisfy our sweet tooth with some takeout. The hostess promptly got someone to take my order. It looked quite busy on a Saturday night. Plenty of people were sitting inside and the outside was full. We ordered the churros and sponge cake. The churros was light and fluffy, very delicious! The sponge cake was not what I expected, in a bad way. It wasn't terrible, but it was not soft and sponge but more like 3 round biscuits with a white coconut sauce on top. Not my cup of tea, but looking forward to trying more of their food in the future. Will be back!

Great service, great food, great cocktails and excellent service. 100% recommend. The ambiance was wonderful, loved the decor, the beautiful caved booths, and the neon sign by the bar. Our server was friendly professional and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious and beautiful presentation as well.

Yelp
First, nothing stood out to me... but I ordered, and everything we got was really stand out wonderful! We ordered : doña Teresa , camarones, mole trio and their mirror margarita!! We left so satisfied and happy! It's not often we find food /drinks inspiring like we did tonight! We'll be back The modern feel was clean comfortable and inviting! Our waiter made suggestions that encouraged me to try something new - I'm glad I did!!

Yelp
The ambiance of Alejandro's was very nice. The service was okay, I did like that our waitress suggested items from the menu as it was our first time eating here. The food overall was hit and miss. The appetizers were phenomenal; we had the queso fundido and chips with guacamole. The birria tacos were fantastic and the consume was excellently seasoned and flavorful. I had the huarache, and it tasted okay. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare, however it was a bit too salty. The cheesecake for dessert was really tasty, and the biscoff crust on the cheesecake was perfect. Overall, I think Alejandro's is a great place to have cocktails and tapas. The entrees were a miss for me.

Yelp
Clean and Nicely decorated well staffed restaurant but tables felt a bit cramped Allyson H was our server. She was professional and personable and had good suggestions. Unfortunately the food was too Salty and not Memorable. I Wanted to like it but the food was lacking. We sent a few dishes back and Allyson handled it well. Maybe it was an off evening but while Vacationing it was disappointing to not enjoy our Meal one of the two evenings we were there.

Yelp
Trendy interior and felt like a high end luxury resort in Mexico. Would come back and try their drinks Food 4 out of 5 stars Tuna crudo: 5/5 this was my favorite dish, especially when you eat it by taking a tortilla chip, dipping it in a salsa, and putting a spoonful of crudo on top. Luxury poke nachos Esquites: 4/5. Small knock against the thick layer of cotija cheese on top. I actually love cheese but it seems like the ratio of corn to cheese was a little too high since there were times where I accidentally put a spoonful of straight cheese in my mouth Duck mole: 4/5 stars. A sleeper hit, my second favorite dish, and I did not expect the complex chocolate-y sauce to pair so well with duck and rice. There's a nice spice to the sauce as well. Bone marrow and Birria tacos. 3.5/5 stars I was disappointed in this. The meat was a bit tough and the blue tortillas were not my favorite. I know it's handmade but the tortilla was a bit crumbly, like it was difficult to fold in hand and when it did fold it started to crack.

Steve T.

Yelp
Rather gourmet higher end Mexican food . Each component of my dish was well made and kinda fancy. Even my corn dish was memorable. Steak cooked perfect medium rare. Paloma mixed drink was perfect. Ambience was excellent for a high end Mexican restaurant. Reminds me of high end places in Mexico minus the live music in the background.

Yelp
This place is incredible! We came here when we were visiting Monterey. It seems it is better to make a reservation here. Despite not having a reservation they accepted us as a walk in. The service is attentive and the food is very tasty! I recommend starting out with Chips and Guacamole. For my main dish I ordered the Pollo Asado. I also need to mention for any soda lovers out there the Mexican Cokes served in bottles taste better than the usual Coke.

Crystal Z.

Yelp
Ambiance- Love the interior of this restaurant, very modern, almost tulum vibes, open kitchen, great date spot! Service- exceptional, our server was super attentive, went over the entire menu with us and even helped us to narrow down our options Food- you must get the camarones al mojo de ajo, the shrimp was cooked to perfection. The cherry tomatoes paired with the dish really well and the white rice definitely tasted brothy You must get the churros! Best I've ever had - it came out fluffy, warm, and slightly crisp. Perfect way to end the night

Brett C.

Yelp
Absolute fire. Ambiance was really cool, super clean. We were able to get a table no reservation, they were kid friendly-- very accommodating. The food and drinks were incredible. We had ceviche and fish tacos a guava margarita and a spicy marg. Not a single complaint would go back without question.

Yelp
Alejandro's for dinner was one of the best parts of my Monterey trip with my boyfriend. We were celebrating his birthday, and we had such a pleasant experience from start to finish. The ambience of the whole restaurant and the level of customer service to the presentation of the food and how well seasoned each of the dishes were, we were in heaven! The restroom also looked really nice and was kept very clean. It was a nice touch to have a full body mirror outside of the women's restroom. Each menu item we had did not disappoint at all! For drinks, I started off with a glass of Rosé and my boyfriend had a tequila mule. Appetizer * Chips + guac 5/5 -- looks like they fry in house tortilla chips and the bowl of guac was delicious! I wish we had more chips to finish the guac. It also comes with 4 different salsas, ranging from mild to spicy. My favorite was the mango salsa! Entrees * Salmón 5/5 - plated over cauliflower mashed potatoes with bits of corn, a Mexican arugula salad w/ spicy chili oil drizzle. The mashed potatoes with the salmon paired so well. The dish was so comforting and the arugula salad added some punch to the dish. * Pollo Asado 5/5 - plated with chipotle mashed potatoes and an arugula salad. It was the best chicken dish! Loved the seasoning and it was cooked perfect! Dessert * Mexican Hot Chocolate + Churros & Choco Sauce 5/5 - I think they make the marshmallow in house! It was a huge pillowy marshmallow with a chocolate hard drizzle surrounding the glass rim, and the Mexican hot chocolate comes in a tea kettle. We gave the option to pour over the hot chocolate ourselves or we can have the server do it, which he did for us and it was such a cool presentation! The hot chocolate was perfect to have with the churros + chocolate sauce. The churros and choco sauce was a small dessert enough for us to eat since we were pretty full towards the end of the night. Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, the coating of cinnamon and sugar will be a bit dry without the sauce. So I dipped it into the sauce every bite. To be out in a fine dining restaurant was well worth the price, and our experience here was phenomenal!

Yelp
Really wanted to love this place! Initially walking in I loved the vibe, the interior was beautiful and the staff was very kind. We went for my mom's birthday (party of 8) and made a reservation over the phone. Be aware they need a card on file and will charge for a missed reservation. I mentioned it was my mom's birthday over the phone and to the host when we arrived, but server did not acknowledge it until my brother brought it up towards the end of our meal. Their cocktails were great and we all got to try a variety of drinks. However, my main disappointment was the food. I was so excited to see the oaxacan cuisine representation on the menu and I think because of that my expectations grew. I ordered the carne asada which came with meat, tortillas, nopales and onions. Was not a huge fan of the flavor, the best thing on my plate was definitely the grilled onions. Considering the price of this plate I was expecting the flavor to wow me. I would love to give this place another chance because I do see the potential. Might come back with a small group and try other dishes, but for this visit I was not satisfied.

Yelp
We were greeted by the host and seated right away since we had a reservation. I would recommend you reserve due to the popularity of this place. The restaurant is decorated with wood, plaster and candles on every wall so it is a very chill atmosphere. Our food arrived promptly. The taquitos were crispy and delicious. It is served with sour cream, Cole slaw and a green salsa. The green salsa really mixes well with all ingredients and you get an explosion of flavor in every bite. It's a sweet yet spicy mix that works well. It's not super spicy and I feel almost anybody can eat it. The shrimp ceviche was absolutely delicious ! It had a hint of lemon and the pico de gallo really compliments the flavor of the lemon. I recommend eating the ceviche with the complimentary sauces provided as it boosts the flavor with a little kick. The steak frites arrived and it was perfectly cooked to my order. Perfect medium rare. I was happy with the consistency of the meat and texture throughout the portion. The meat was delicious and I could eat it by itself however, the flavor of the garlic sauce and chimichuri help boost the steak. My least favorite thing was the Paloma. The drink was not mixed well and I tasted no other flavor other than the alcohol. You expect the alcohol but it shouldn't overpower the flavor of the soda and lemon. I was happy with the overall experience and food at this restaurant. The service was phenomenal and the food was delicious. I was only visiting the city but I am definitely coming back to visit just to eat at this place

Yelp
Visiting Monterey for the weekend and finally came back to Alejandro's after many many years. They have an amazing bar and various indoor / outdoor seating areas including circular booths with brick that make you feel like you are inside of a cave. Such a cool vibe overall. We had a reservation for 9:15pm and no one came to our table to greet us or offer water, until we asked one of the severs if he could help us which was about 20 minutes after we got seated. Be prepared to wait. The guava margarita is amazingggg!!! A must try! Their chips (which were super yummy) came with four different salsas; we really enjoyed the darker green and dark red ones. They also have a super spicy, yellowish colored one that was delish. We ordered the Mole enchiladas and the barbacoa with bone marrow, which were both pretty tasty. This was my first time trying mole enchiladas so I was a bit nervous, but they were not bad. We also tried the churros which were to die for!!!! Definitely a solid restaurant in downtown Monterey, but be warned - it is quite pricey!

Yelp
The second I walked in I felt that I was on a luxurious Mexico vacation. The vibes here are unmet. My partner and I started at the bar where we both enjoyed a cocktail. We ordered: - Poblano margarita ($14) - Naked and famous high ball ($15) The margarita was really good but the naked and famous tasted very watered down. After drinks we couldn't resist ourself and decided to skip our meal prep at home and order dinner here. We walked back up to the host stand and asked to be seated in the super cute cave like booths. The host was very sweet and cleared one up quickly to accommodate us. What we ordered: -Chips + guac ($15) This appetizer actually came with 4 different salsas, a generous serving of guac, and fresh chips. Overall I think it was worth the $15 for this appetizer given the quality and the flavor. -Birra and bone marrow tacos ($31) This entree came with 3 tacos, a side bowl of consome and a bone with bone marrow on top. The tacos and the comsome were delicious but I couldn't stomach to eat the bone marrow. I'm a texture person and I was not a fan. - Churros "nublado" ($12) This dessert came with 4 small churros and a to die for burnt carmel sauce. The churros didn't seem to be cooked long enough because they kind of just fell apart in your mouth without having a crunch to them. Overall, I loved this restaurant and I would come back in a heart beat. I think that the prices are high and it's hard to spend $10 per taco but my recommendation would be to come here when you are not starving and just order a couple drinks and apps or share an entree if you are on a budget.

Kit A.

Yelp
The food had great flavor, everything I tried at the very least met expectations. My biggest issue was with the cocktails, they're all batch drinks. What a shame, I would come here for the food, but I wouln't order drinks again. The service was a good, the servers were friendly. It's a little dark inside the retaurant, I don't remember if t was too loud. The bar looked like a place to party and do shots with the LED lights. I like the chill vibe.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Service was outstanding, entered the restaurant: Greeted, sat down at the bar: greeted, tried a couple drinks and ate a nice meal... guy came to buss the table: greeted! Small things were appreciated. The vibe was very chill and the decor was beautiful. Staff was polite and honest and even recommended s couple good dishes to try. We'll be back the next time we visit Monterey.

Yelp
I cannot recommend this place enough yall! If you're visiting Monterey, this place is a must! Beautiful restaurant, good vibes, welcoming staff, and amazing food! My fiance and I discovered Alejandro's a few days ago on our most recent trip. It's located in downtown Monterey, within walking distance of the Old Fisherman's Warf. Great location considering all of the other local shops and businesses you can visit nearby. The restaurant itself is GORGEOUS. I was a huge fan of the decor and overall look inside. Super clean and gives off such a nice vibe. The inside of the restaurant is huge and reminds me of a jungle with all the decor. The kitchen is open and visible in the main area of the restaurant so you can actually see the chefs preparing your meal which I thought was cool. I wish I would've gotten more pictures of the inside because it really was so nice. You can tell they put a lot of thought and care into the design of it all. Service was great! Our server Jose was very kind and welcoming, and was patient with it being our first time visiting. We ordered the guacamole and chips appetizer and they were super generous with the portions! It also included a serving board with all 4 different types of their salsas. My favorite were the habanero and mango ones. Each one was packed with flavor and delicious in its own way. So good! I ended up ordering the mole enchiladas and guysssss let me just say I couldn't stop saying "WOW" the whole time I was eating them. Seriously some of the best food ive had! You know the food is good when you don't stop talking about it lol. The pickled onion and sprouts garnished on top added a nice refreshing bite every time and was such a nice pairing. I highly recommend! My fiance ordered the bistec frites and he said it was delicious also! We left with both our stomachs and our hearts feeling full from the awesome experience we had at Alejandro's :) it felt like visiting family! I've included a few photos down below of the food and the specific dining room we were sat in. Thank you so much to the team at Alejandro's! We will definitely be back the next we're in Monterey!!

Mel D.

Yelp
Booked a reservation here for Valentine's Day. Parking is the hardest part. Spent about 30-40 mins alone. So expect a walk or park in a structure. We were sat down immediately. Only waited a few mins for the server. After we ordered our drinks and food came out pretty quickly especially for VDAY. We were done in about an hour. Food was delicious and drinks were good! Ambiance is dim and romantic. Nice vibe.

Sara A.

Yelp
Atmosphere of this place is a vibe. Had dinner here for my birthday with my boyfriend. I am Mexican so I do tend to be more picky when I go out and have Mexican food. This place did not disappoint on the most of the flavor and ambiance. We made a reservation as we went on a Saturday. We were sat right away in our own little private room which I loved. We started off with drinks. I got guava margarita... excellent not too sweeet and just the right amount alcohol... and my boyfriend got the Alvarado brewery Mai Tai IPA. The guacamole portion is insane great for a big group. The portion was very generous and good flavor with homemade chips. They also brought out salsas which I only cared for one. In my opinion I would like more flavor in the green as it was just very acidic and no other flavor came through. The rest seemed very watered down. I got the tampiquena I believe which had skirt steak, enchiladas, and a chile relleno. The skirt steak was cooked great tons of flavor wish there was more the portion of that is very small. The enchiladas were good the homemade corn tortillas really gave them a great texture. The chile relleno was just ok would leave it for more steak. It also came with a side of corn on the cob with a citrus aioli and what seemed like Tajín. My boyfriend got the birria tacos. Again, the homemade tortillas were great and meat was juicy and flavorful. The tacos were a great size. The bone marrow was ok not enough to add flavor or anything else but felt like it was more for looks. The consomé had good flavor though. They brought a churro dessert at the end of our meal which was more than enough for me and I can't complain hot crispy with the right amount of sweet. This place is on the higher end price wise but some of the items have great flavor and others were just ok. Us having the somewhat private room was nice as it did get busier as the evening went on. Overall I was hoping for more flavor I want to give it another chance but we will see.

Kathleen S.

Yelp
Love the vibe!!! Bar is beautiful with a great displays of tequilas to choose from. Service was amazing!!! The food was delicious!! Fresh and authentic!!! We will be back

Hoa N.

Yelp
I've heard a lot of great things about this spot from friends who tried it and it did not disappoint. Located in downtown Monterey, this spot is a hidden gem with great food and immaculate vibe. They have an open kitchen concept where you can see the chef do their platings. There's street parking around the restaurant or the other option is to park at Trader Joe's parking lot. The food was so delicious with lots of different flavors. Our server was attentive and gave us all the food recommendations. Molcajete - this was a special steak and shrimp dish that was recommended by our server. Filled with strips of steak and shrimp and paired with tortilla. This was so yummy to try and best to share it with a lot of people. Pollo asado - chicken was okay as it's mainly the breast and drumstick. I would skip on this next time and try something else.

Socorro B.

Yelp
We went recently to celebrate my birthday and it was worth the drive; we do not live in the Monterey area but had heard that the food and ambiance was amazing so we decided to try it out. Our waiter, I believe Juan is his name, was super attentive and gave us great suggestions for what drinks and food to order. We will definitely go back soon.

Megan S.

Yelp
Went on a night that there wasn't many people present, had reservations as well. Went around 8pm for dinner and didn't leave until 10-10:30. Not sure if they were low staffed or if it's the norm but I did not receive anything timely including my water. Appetizer came and I didn't even have utensils yet to eat? Had to ask one of the waiters who wasn't ours at the time to get some utensils and he 100% rolled his eyes and went to get our waiter not the utensils and even that took 5 minutes to receive. Elote corn was good but not traditional so it's got a spin on it. My Camarones plate was DELICIOUS. On the Huarache plate the steak was asked to be well done and came slightly burnt and bitter and the sope dough was undercooked. The churros were sub par I've had better at food trucks. Probably won't return unless I preorder the Camarones plate & do takeout.

Gina G.

Yelp
Food was 10/10 amazing. Service was attentive and checked up regularly. I love the place it is so cozy yet inviting inside with really cool decor.

GrubGuy 1.

Yelp
We arrived for our 6 PM reservation and were quickly seated at our pre-requested table. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu and beverage options. The menu had a variety of choices, including steak, seafood, chicken, and vegetarian dishes. Since we weren't very hungry, we started with a basket of chips and a delicious selection of house salsas. For our entrees, we chose the Camarones, the evening special of molcajete, and a New York strip. Everything was perfectly prepared and incredibly flavorful. We highly recommend this place and will definitely return.

Kathy H.

Yelp
We were only here for drinks and an appetizer but even as we stood looking at the menu, patrons leaving the establishment were telling us how good the food was. We unfortunately only wanted drinks and small bites, but will have to come back for a proper meal. We sat outside in their little courtyard patio with our dog and the burners above kept us warm. We got a mezcal cocktail and a horchata cocktail that they allowed us to substitute the liquor (vodka instead of mezcal). Drinks were strong and tasty. We also got taquitos that were delicious. The interior of the restaurant is simply gorgeous with a row of tables in their own little alcove and high ceilings.

Brian M.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Delicious food and great service. I can't recall the name of the appetizer but was a cheese dip and that was delicious. Entrees we ordered were their birria tacos and the lamb Barbacoa. Some of the best tasting dishes I've had in recent memory. Definitely will return if only for dining here again. All the salsas were great too. If I could give this place an extra star I would. Great place for a late evening date too.

Chandra D.

Yelp
Alejandro's fancies itself as an upscale or gourmet Mexican restaurant. This isn't a downhome Mexican restaurant, but a Mexican restaurant where you can eat with your pinky up if you so choose. Our reservation was 6:45, but it took us awhile to find parking. I called Alejandro's to notify them and they moved our reservation to 7pm. We had to wait at the bar while our table got setup. We started off with queso fundido, chips, salsa, and guac. We could have stopped there because we were full! The fundido was cheesy good. I liked it! I also liked the blue corn tortillas. The chips were perfect, and the salsas were okay. I'm actually glad I ordered the guac. The guac was okay--I love red onion in my guacamole and theirs didn't have any. What I wanted were cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. Alejandro's enchilada offering was chicken mole enchiladas. I opted for this. The chicken was incredibly tender and the mole had a nice lil' kick. I enjoyed my enchiladas. My husband got the birria tacos and bone marrow. His bone didn't have very much marrow, so he was disappointed about this. Overall, a good restaurant with a nice ambience and polite staff.

Michelle R.

Yelp
Nice ambience, great service, and good food , a little pricey, but what do you expect it's Monterey

Carolyn C.

Yelp
I came here with my boyfriend, who is very particular about drinks. The drinks were amazing and were made very quickly! I got the mole enchiladas and my boyfriend got the shrimp dinner, both were amazing! The environment was loud but fun to be a part of it. Will definitely come back!

Kumiko M.

Yelp
Had a small group dinner at Alejandro's with friends. It was a busy night but we managed to grab a table. Overall, we enjoyed the appetizers. The birria and bone marrow tacos were delicious and filling. The waiter was very helpful, was very patient with us, and gave great descriptions of each dish. His recommendations were appreciated too! One thing I would like to recommend on behalf of my friend who brought his kid is to add a child's diaper station in the men's bathroom too.

Jesse R.

Yelp
Wasn't able to get a table inside so we settled for the outdoor tables in front... the food was delicious I ordered the garlic jumbo prawns with rice and a salad... for my drink I ordered the Palomas which was also very refreshing and delicious... everything was well cooked with perfect seasonings to add plenty of flavor. The service was quick and attentive when needed.

Maddy H.

Yelp
Very fun dinner with delicious cocktails! I love the mole enchilada and huarache are a fan favorite The vibe in the restaurant is super cool except that it is a little dark when it comes to menu reading.

Brian J.

Yelp
Love this place. Their drinks at the bar are particularly great if you want something complex rather than something just designed for instagram. The food has a bit of a price to it but it is just on another level for quality. Have gone back several times with not intent to stop visiting this place.

Zach A.

Yelp
My family of four came here to eat dinner. We walked out wishing there was another meal after dinner and if we could stay and have that also at Alejandro's. This was one of the best Mexican restaurants we've ever been to. The ambiance, the food, the drinks, the service are all five-star. In a row of pubs and tourist traps, this place gave me some Piano Man what-the-hell-are-you-doin-here vibes. If you're within fifty miles of this place, let Alejandro's draw you in.

Marian F.

Yelp
The ambience is low light and really elegant and classy! Really nice for some dinner dates or a slightly fancier outing. Service was amazing, happened to get a server who knew one of my family members a few years back which was such a coincidence so needless to say it was amazing service Food was great! I had a ahi tuna tostada to which i wish they had a bigger entree for as it's amazing. Pescado tacos, carne asada plate, and a pollo asada plate were had. They were great but it was very heavy for a meal especially for the amount of protein and carbs. If you're not used to stomaching a lot of protein at once, definitely get a side of greens as a palette cleanser. The salsas were amazing tho

Ryan T.

Yelp
Alejandro was a nice find in downtown Monterey. The location decór is fantastic. The staff was friendly and prompt. We were split on our food, however. The mole enchiladas were delicious and a little spicier than anticipated. My dish had a steak on it which caused the price to be higher but it wasn't worth the small amount of beef. Stick with the traditional Mexican food dishes. We definitely will be back.

Yelp
I used to really like this place, but my last visit left a bad taste. We had reservations and were promptly sat and told our server would be with us shortly. Saw the server stop by at the tables next to us so figured he'd come over to bring water or take our drink order.. no such luck! After 15 minutes of waiting and making uncomfortable eye contact with the hostess, she grabbed another server to come take our order. When another table got seated next to us the first server that ignored us quickly brought them water, offered them drinks, brought them complimentary salsas (yes, they were) so even though the food is okay, this experience sucked and there are better restaurants in town with service that doesn't feel borderline discriminatory. Also hate that they offer a dish called Barbacoa that is actually birria, there IS a difference.

Yelp
Great service, great food, great cocktails and excellent service. 100% recommend. The ambiance was wonderful, loved the decor, the beautiful caved booths, and the neon sign by the bar. Our server was friendly professional and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious and beautiful presentation as well.

Yelp
I couldn't find anything on the menu I didn't know if I was going to eat dinner but they were nice enough when I heard about the children's meals they let me have my cheese quesadilla. The food was excellent. The service was wonderful the ambience was absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for letting me get something off the children's menu

Yelp
The Ambience & Vibes! New place in downtown Monterey. Convenient because it's open late. Friends and I were looking for a good food place in downtown Monterey that was in walking distance from the Portola. A little pricey but food was really good! Would recommend if you're wanting a little bit more of an upscale twist on Mexican cuisine.

Yelp
Had an amazing dinner at Alejandro's tonight. Everything perfectly prepared and in abundance. Lovely Mexican and tropical flavors, high quality well prepared meat. Everything was so tasty! We had the Tampiqueno, pollo asada, and birria tacos, plus guacamole and chips. All different, all yum!

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere once again. It was a busy Sunday night but got a table for two easily at 645. Fresh ingredients and excellent service

Yelp
The food was great and all the employees were friendly and helpful. We got there really late on a rainy day and the indoor area was super cute with mood lighting and a lot of beautiful greenery. We'll definitely go there again.

Yelp
We came here on Valentine's Day/Ash Wednesday. We are not from the area so we made sure to leave our place within a decent amount of time because we knew finding parking would suck. Guess what? We kept circling around till it was 740 PM 5 mins before our reservation time. We were about to give up and skip our dinner but luckily at last minute, we finally found one. Super excited because we really like elevated hispanic food from time to time. Their restaurant was beautiful! We wanted to seat in the back booths but we were seated up front where the receptionist was. Seemed more intimate! Super cute because each table they placed a rose.... Adorable!! Thank you for that. We had to ask for the drinks menu. But i like how crafty the drinks were! We asked for recommendations from our server and he said I should try the guava margarita- OMG YES. Delish! Sweet but not too sweet. Pretty drink itself. We ordered the chips and guacamole for appetizer! And WOW they really know how to make us happy. A whole bowl of guacamole and salsas to choose from. Um hello?! Hahahhaah! Unique! My fave were the yellow salsa (my fiance says its pineapple because its sweet) and the mild one (love the roasted flavor)! The chips im assuming is made in house, love flaky chips! We appreciate places like these where they dont all serve meat and since it was Ash Wednesday we stuck to seafood. The fish tacos were delicious!! And the shrip with garlic rice, chefs kiss! Flavor on flavors! We had nothing bad to say. We had left overs, took it home to eat the next day. We hope to come back!

Yelp
Amazing dinner at a new place in Monterey. They took over the old Lallapalooza space. Alejandro's offers elevated Mexican food in a very chic environment. We had one of the alcove booths so it felt very intimate. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. We started with the house-made guacamole and chips with salsas- the fav was the green! The drinks were great and beyond the standard margarita. I had a drink like a dirty martini but with tomato- yum! The birria tacos are elevated with not only a rich consommé for dipping but bone marrow as well... so decadent! The hongos tacos were good size and full of mushroom and pickled cauliflower. The mole chicken enchiladas were amazing. The garlic shrimp were five large grilled shrimp covered in a delicious garlic lemon butter sauce with tomatoes and green over a bed of the BEST cilantro rice I have EVER had!! I ate very but. We will be back! A new place to add to the rotation!!

Yelp
To start this place has a VERY nice ambience and the staff is very attentive which is amazing, Unfortunately Dining wise it can be better. To start we got Chips and Salsas which were tasty but they came in these small cups like what you use to dip fries in but it dosent work for chips since theyre too wide and you end up with a chip with barely any salsa on it. To fix that we ended up just breaking the chips in smaller peices which was a little messy but fine. I ordered their Steak which is where the Three stars comes in. Ive had alot of steaks from alot of places and different cuts as well, i order Medium Rare on all of them, It was not medium rare but i don't believe in sending it back to further escalate things. The flavor was Lacking severly which not even the Salt they had on the side couldve saved. This isnt a steakhouse so i didnt have the bar set extremely high but I expected it to have seasoning of some sort for it being a latin inspired restraunt. Maybe in the future with enough attention it can be addressed and if not then i guess its fine for the majority. Most likely wont go again unless its for drinks but very nice to have experienced !

Yelp
Went here for my husband's birthday with our two children. Beautiful restaurant and top notch service. The food was delicious and reminded me of the fancier restaurants in Mexico. Pricing is definitely on the higher end but worth it.
