For the record, over the past 8 years, I've spent over $10,000 in this place (company dinner reimbursement). I'm a business man that travels, over the years I've eaten at all the Alexander Steakhouse Restaurants. They are all amazing experiences. One of my favorite restaurants to eat steak. However, until this time. I spent $65 on myself for a Porterhouse steak. I asked for medium well done with extra Cajun seasoning.... but what i got was an OVERCOOKED Porterhouse, even the Texas toast was burnt. I told the server, that she was great, and I'm NOT nor want to a jerk about this but this is not edible. She said they can remake it and i sympathize with her... i didn't want her to think i was blaming her and that it was obviously a mistake and not personal. So i took her offer to remake the steak. Next the manager runs to my table without apologizing or any empathy and tells me no, I'm stuck with that steak, they don't take responsibility for their steaks. He was very blunt and forceful like he was expecting me to argue or fight with him about this meal. I told him this is totally dried and overcooked.....THEN HE APOLOGIZED, but said nothing he could do. I totally would have not been offended if the manager showed me respect and empathy... if he did, i would have eaten every bet of that steak and no problem. But the way he made a life long customer feel is sad.
They need to teach this manager some manners for a Top Notch Steakhouse in Illinois. Every other Alexander's the service is Outstanding.... Advice for this guy, I'm NOT that disppointed that you wasted my $65, I'm okay with the policy. I'm disppointed that you should me no empathy after driving 2 hours to this place. Finally, I complained to the waiter that gave me great service, she switched and did that same thing. Totally ignored me, gave me the check and said have a great day. Smh... for the record, i was smiling, no loud, but extremely polite and barely said a word.
I still love Alexander's Steakhouse but today is totally classless and sad. The other restaurants are golden, but this one in Springfield, IL I would avoid. To prove my point, these places are usually so good that many of the D1 college sports teams take their recruits to these restaurants. I was taken to one when i was recruited out of high school for my D1 scholarship. Because they give recruits an amazing experience!
