"Now six locations strong and growing quickly, Alfred is quickly taking over LA's coffee scene, making it a definite favorite for screenwriters and freelancers during the week. We like the Melrose Place location best, which shares its space with an adorably tiny Compartes shop in the back. If you’re feeling indulgent, ask for their famous off-menu Alfred cone—a macchiato served in a chocolate covered ice cream cone that tastes just as good as it sounds. They also have kombucha on tap. There are also locations in Brentwood, Beverly Hills, Studio City and on Melrose Avenue."

Roy Choi Officially Drops Out of All Projects at Koreatown’s Line Hotel - Eater LA

"At least for the lobby cafe, that means Alfred Coffee. The local name will take over only the front corner of the lobby, selling its But First, Coffee-branded lattes and matcha to weekend revelers, hotel guests, and weekday laptop workers who love to camp out." - Farley Elliott

This well-regarded coffee shop is in the Line Hotel lobby in Koreatown, Los Angeles. The coffee beverages offer a robust flavor profile complemented by a subtle acidity. The menu includes various pastries, gluten-free and vegan options, and light meal choices such as burritos, bagels, and sandwiches. The ordering process is efficient, with drinks typically prepared within a few minutes. Additionally, a spacious seating area in front is shared with the lobby bar, providing a welcoming atmosphere.

I'm a crackhead for caffeine, and I'm slowly getting back into cafe hopping. This spot was across the street from where we just dined. Parking: Every man for themselves. Paid metered parking in front or paid parking garage in the back. Follow the signs to public parking. Complimentary 3 hour parking. $5 + service fees after 3 hours paid via online. Ambiance/Environment: This coffee shop is located inside the lobby of the Line Hotel. The lobby area is large with plenty of indoor seating. Very clean and modern inside. They also have limited outdoor seating. It was pretty busy when we visited. Service: The cashier that assisted us was knowledgeable about the menu and even asked us questions before giving us recommendations. The barista was extremely quick and efficient. He made the drink while I was ordering lol. Drink: I ordered their featured drink - Cloud Cream with espresso, plant-based coconut foam, and organic whole milk. This drink definitely felt light like a cloud. The foam gave it a very, slight coconut taste. The coffee was sweetened from the vanilla. If you like your coffee light and slightly sweetened, then this is perfect for you. Pricing: $7.50 for 12 oz .. I knew LA was expensive but oof. I'd probably visit once in a while if I'm ever in the area again.

Google
wonderful vegan options! they have fun signature drinks, especially love their vegan cream top. i love their onion bagel with the plant-based cashew cream cheese. it’s a regular favorite in our household. they also have vegan breakfast burritos & a couple of dif. vegan pastries. these are decent overall. there are also fun seasonal/rotating specialty drinks. this location is in “The Line” hotel & has a cool interior with interesting finishes. there is a small patio available as well. a note that sometimes their items will sell out, so go early on the weekend can be helpful.

Nestled in the lobby of the LINE hotel, this coffee shop is a hidden gem worth discovering. While it can get busy, the line moves swiftly thanks to the efficient and friendly staff. The cleanliness and tidiness of the place are evident, creating a welcoming ambiance for patrons. But it's the quality of their coffees that truly steals the show. Each cup is expertly brewed, delivering a rich and flavorful experience that keeps customers coming back for more. Overall, my experience here was fantastic, and I wouldn't hesitate to return. If you're in need of a caffeine fix in a stylish and convenient setting, this coffee shop at the LINE hotel is the place to be.

Convenient if you are staying at Line LA hotel. Really good vanilla latte. Plenty of seatings and fast service

Google
Great coffee! Had the breakfast bacon burriton and the Mocha. Location seems to be inside a hotel lobby. Parking is not ideal. Metered parking taken by food trucks-Food trucks leave at 3pm.

This is one of the best cups of chai I've ever had. It's full-bodied and spicy. I'd absolutely come back again.

Was staying at The Line Hotel—AlfredCoffee was in our lobby. I had no idea what I wanted; so the barista gave her recommendation, and it is delicious!!

Yelp
Spacious spot with good vibes and good music. Location is very central. In the middle of koreatown.

Yelp
This place is located in the lobby of a busy hotel on a corner. When you pull in to the driveway, there are some parking spaces to your right so that you can run in, get your coffee and get out. I ordered the world famous vanilla iced latte (fabulous), the iced O.G. Chagaccino (fabulous), and an iced matchaga (it could be stronger, the matcha was too light). Once you order, you can sit in the lobby area of the hotel. There are chairs and couches, or you can take it to go.
google avatar

Yelp
The ambiance at Alfred's is chic and inviting. The baristas are friendly and efficient, ensuring quick service without compromising on quality. The pastries and snacks are also delicious, offering a nice variety to complement their drink menu. Whether you're looking for a quick caffeine fix or a place to sit and enjoy your drink, it's definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
FYI - this is in the LINE hotel. The line gets long in the mornings, so plan accordingly. The hotel lobby is gorgeous and such a beautiful place to chill with a book and cup of coffee. I got a matcha latte which was solid! For food, I ordered the vegan/gluten free breakfast burrito and the vegan/gf raspberry matcha muffin. I would not suggest getting the muffin - the texture was super crumbly and didn't have a ton of flavor. The gluten free and vegan burrito was pretty solid! It's hearty but not too heavy.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Alfred Coffee. This location is in a hotel lobby which made it very accessible as a guest. The "famous" vanilla latte had a perfect balance of bold espresso and sweet vanilla syrup. The staff were friendly and the coffee was made quickly. Can't wait to visit again.
google avatar

Sandy C.

Yelp
Amazing service, exceptional coffee...best vanilla syrup! Love the ambiance of the shop.
google avatar

Yelp
My friends and I got the iced lavender lattes. It was refreshing and delicious. Parking is a bit difficult to find nearby, there's street parking around the block. This Alfred's is connected to the Line Hotel, in the lobby area. Ambiance is on the quiet side, there's also an open bar in the lobby area.

Yelp
Dear Alfred, oh Alfred!!!! Your coffee is amazing and your food is out of this world! I ordered the ricotta cake, which is my fave through UBEREATS - the Alfuego burrito and a cold brew coffee with simple syrup!! The coffee has a crisp, clean roasted flavor with a blend of signature ingredients-the simple syrup gives it the exact amount of sweetness I need, but I always request extra. The ricotta cake tastes homemade- the dense cake is flavored with ricotta, vanilla and sweetness. This cake is moist and oh so yummy yet tasteful!!!. I cant forget the ALFUEGO breakfast burrito - the fried eggs, chicken chorizo sausage, tater tots onions and peppers taste so good in this burrito. The two hot sauces included kicks this burrito into a state of giving pleasure to my tastebuds. Thanks Alfred you always come through for breakfast!!

Yelp
We recently stayed at the Line hotel in LA and we had an Alfred coffee in our hotel lobby. The service was fast and quick and they have all full menu of coffee and pastry items. They are know for their vanilla lattes. Their vanilla latte is truly unique and different from everybody else's in the business. It truly did shine and it was very sweet. I really enjoyed mine and got it iced. If you are looking for something different check out Alfred's especially if you are a fan of lattes.

Issac V.

Yelp
Don't understand why people hype this place up. The coffee sucks, really weak and the options weren't out of the ordinary. The breakfast burritos were okay, I tried steak and was first thrown off by the portion considering I was sharing half. It's about a $15 burrito the size of an 8 FL oz redbull. Service is good, though they're terrible with names. The chairs and tables associated with the shop, inside the hotel are dirty and couches outside look like they need a cleaning.

Jason R.

Yelp
I regularly enjoy Alfred Coffee and their location in the lobby of The Line Hotel. I've been frequenting this location for a while and while the service is typically quite good, I recently had an awful experience there. I recently stopped by a little before their 5pm closing time and instead of simply mentioning that it was too late to get a coffee, the barista rudely glared at me and my friend and activated the blinds that close the business without saying a word, despite it not yet being their closing time. I don't mind someone telling me that I'm too late to order, but that behavior was totally uncalled for and totally disappointing.
google avatar

Yula K.

Yelp
Popular coffee spot in the area. I like their burritos but am never super impressed with anything I get here. Cute space inside the hotel to sit and enjoy but you will always run into the type of "LA people" that give the city a bad name

Yelp
Located in a corner of the LINE hotel lobby, there is a lot of open, airy, sunlit space to hang out, study, work, etc. Plenty of seating, and rest rooms as well. Staff is great--efficient, friendly, kind! Important to point out I think; I've been surprised lately as to how many people might be miserable and it shows in their lack of hospitality/service. Anyway, the vibes are good here and a lot of that has to do with the employees. I also like how they ask you if you want pastries warmed and what kind of milk you want. I tried Sabrina's Vanilla Rose Cold Foam Latte (shoutout to my friend who told me about it)--it was good, but did not look like the ad lol! I picked it up right when it was ready, too, but the sprinkle topping was a mess and melted/sank. I guess it was close enough though, except the pearl and blue sprinkles. Maybe they just didn't have the right stuff? I like rose flavored things so the foam was good for me. If you don't like floral drinks, probably don't get this bc the foam is plentiful! Solid latte, and they have different milk options. Today, I was feeling 2% :) Almond croissant was a hit. I got it warmed up--oooey gooey in the center with the almond filling. Fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside with an abundance of toasted sliced almonds on top. One improvement suggestion is to clean the tables more regularly. (crumbs and spills) Although, I'm not sure if it's up to the hotel staff or cafe staff.

Yelp
I got myself a nice little green tea macha latte. I can see why this drink is popular here. Its not sweet or bitter. It has the right amount of taste of macha in it. I would definitely recommend it if you are like me who enjoys this taste. I like the vibe here. Its becoming on of my favorite spot due to safety of the environment. Nice and cool in here. Service is good, it can be hit or miss depending on the staff. Music is little loud when you order so you might have to speak up.
google avatar

Olivia H.

Yelp
Love Alfred coffee and this location was great! Coffee was delicious (tried the new sugar free vanilla syrup for an iced vanilla latte), service was super friendly, and there's so much nice, clean seating here. It's the perfect rest stop when in DTLA!
google avatar

Alisa B.

Yelp
I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but when I do drink coffee... it has to be sweet and creamy. I saw the "World Famous" Vanilla Latte at the top of the menu and decided to kickstart my day with it. The drink was almost like a dessert! VERY sweet and the coffee kept me awake for a few hours. It didn't have a strong bitterness, and the vanilla was pleasant. I was really satisfied. Overall, this is a good place to get coffee, but on the pricey end.
google avatar

Nijole T.

Yelp
Not a huge fan of the coffee or Matcha here. Service was friendly and the order was ready on time. I just didn't care for the flavors. Maybe they were just having an off day, but not worth returning for me.
google avatar

Lisa P.

Yelp
This Alfred coffee is so awesome! I always get the matcha and its inside of this hotel. However, there is no parking really so it can be difficult. The matcha was delicious and just right. There is also a cute sitting area shared with the hotel so it's nice to come there to study. The order was quick even though we walked in!
google avatar

Zach H.

Yelp
Great place for a coffee and vibe! They have tons of comfortable seating here as well as tables for studying or eating. They play the music a little bit loud but the space makes up for that. Americano was delicious and under $5.
google avatar

Margaret P.

Yelp
This coffee shop is located in the heart of Koreatown inside of the Line Hotel. I had to find a coffee shop to work out of in the neighborhood and ended up here. The wi-fi was good, but unfortunately I didn't bring my charger so my laptop died right away. They don't seem to have any outlets for anyone to work out of for a long time. As far as my coffee, it was pretty good. The standard is the iced vanilla latte which is what I ended up ordering :) The croissant was pretty good too! Parking in this neighborhood is a little difficult, so street parking will probably be best!

D L.

Yelp
Honestly I loved their iced vanilla latte, the hype is real. This might (might!) be my favorite iced coffee so far. I've been on the hunt for it and I could not find a negative thing to criticize about this one. Try it out :) (and let me know if you have another favorite iced vanilla coffee rec)
google avatar

Juliet T.

Yelp
Very cute area to take your coffee pics! Service is good and quick. The area is also nice to just sit around, catch up, or do your work. The baristas are attentive and make your drinks right in front of you! I ordered the Iced Matcha Latte with oat milk. The oat milk they use is Oatly! I didn't really enjoy it since it watered down quick & didn't taste right- just tasted watery. It was more of a milk drink, than matcha. I was surprised since it was the most popular drink on Yelp. I would recommend trying a coffee based drink rather than matcha.
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
Quick matcha latte pick up! I don't prefer the location because parking is scarce but you can try to idle your car in the line hotel valet area for a minute. The servers are very nice and they're great a their craft. Their store is in the line hotel lobby which is a great location for foot traffic as well. I love the lavender matcha latte that they recommended me instead of putting a lavender syrup in my regular matcha latte. Glad I tried it!
google avatar

Lana H.

Yelp
This is my favorite cafe in town!! The staff is super sweet and professional, Dom has a beautiful welcoming smile and Jawdat always makes me the best lattes with love. The entire team is awesome every time I come in. The tables are always clean and it's a great place to get work done at with relaxing ambiance :)
google avatar

Marrissa B.

Yelp
Goodbye to bland hotel lobby coffee & hello to something exciting. Unfortunately their espresso machine was getting some maintenance at the time but fortunately for me, staff was polite & offered numerous substitutions. We opted for two iced matches with oat milk. The matcha used is unsweetened (as it should be in my opinion) but they offer numerous house made sweeteners for a little something extra if you're feeling it. I went with lavender in mine & wow it has to be some of the best lavender syrup I've had. Floral with just the right amount of sweetness to still keep it light. We opted for a vegan cookie as well to split with the recommendation of getting it warmed up...the absolute correct choice. Back to location being in a hotel lobby, not a dismal thing at all. Nice and bright with tons of space for seating no matter what length of time you're looking to spend here.
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop! Stopped by every morning while so was traveling and ordered their espresso, and lattes. Espresso was strong and drinks always came out super quick.
google avatar

Angie H.

Yelp
It's great in theory to have a cafe off a hotel lobby but when the oatmilk lattes taste like nothing except faint chemicals, is it that great? I got a scone, too. It was especially dry and I only took a few very crumbly bites while trying to check emails yesterday morning before heading onto set for work. The day before, I really yearned for some hot tea. They only had 3 of the 7 or so flavors on the menu, all of which wouldn't have helped my travel weary body and the nausea I was experiencing after having a nightmare of a check in the night before and being unable to sleep. Did I only order two things and both were very mediocre? Yes. Would I have ordered more if they actually had the things I wanted in stock? Also, yes. I won't be getting coffee from here again and I stayed at the hotel 5 days. Staff was super nice and friendly, though!

Crystal A.

Yelp
Despite hearing that this place was extremely overhyped.. i'm with the hype LOL I tried the world famous vanilla latte.. pretty basic but I loved it!! Not too sweet or strong. Perfect for me. I even bought the small vanilla bottle of their syrup. I loved the ambiance. Looks like a good place to study. Plenty of seating available!
google avatar

Brit W.

Yelp
Came here for a quick bite after checking out. The service was quick and simple. The drink and food were average, nothing to get excited about. As with most places in LA, a bit pricey for what you get. I'm not sure how I feel about them selling a bodega sandwich with no jelly; spicy is not everyone's thing, but I get it. I would venture out to try another place next time. It was average and 3 stars is accurate.
google avatar

Andy V.

Yelp
1. The drink was delicious! 2. Loving the modern aesthetics! 3. Lots of seating inside and outside! Photo: Matcha Americano (Hot)
google avatar

Tracee B.

Yelp
Popular LA chain but did not live up to the hype for me. Vanilla latte was way too milky (see pics). Definitely needed some more coffee in my coffee! May still give another chance and just ask for it light on the milk, or simply try something else.
google avatar

Jamilla J.

Yelp
Lovely place, good coffee, incredible atmosphere. I am glad I have been able to join! Perfect place to meet and catch up!
google avatar

Kimberly P.

Yelp
Overpriced coffee and matcha. I got an iced matcha and it was good but definitely not worth $10. I would rather go somewhere else
google avatar

Troy B.

Yelp
I don't usually drink coffee but I love Alfred's. I was staying at the Line Hotel, and I'm so grateful that this Alfred's is here because I got a drink almost every day. I feel like everything they make is very high caliber and done well. I love their Iced Teas (I forget the name of my fave flavor but it had coconut in it). It was refreshing and not too sweet but just the right amount of coconut. I've also tried their Vanilla Latte which is just so good. Creamy and rich but not overwhelmingly sweet. Also appreciate that there's ample seating here. A great place to work and or relax.
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
I hate how much I love the vanilla latte but it really tragically is just the best. It's so expensive but I keep going back for more.
google avatar

Rani Z.

Yelp
Time & Date: Tuesday, 6/15/21 @ 12:20pm Crowd: slightly busy Payment: Card ORDERED: - Iced Vanilla Oat Latte (size small, $6.75) - Iced Matcha Oat Latte (size small, $6.25) Honestly came to Alfred's for the hype, since apparently the Kardashians go here lol! They're known for their iced vanilla lattes & iced matcha lattes so that's what I ordered -- with oat milk instead of dairy milk for both. The vanilla latte tasted really smooth and rich, but I wouldn't say it was unbelievably superior to vanilla lattes from other cafes. The matcha latte had a very earthy flavor to it, and wasn't sweet at all. The ice cubes were also perfectly squared cubes which was cute haha. Alfred's is definitely overpriced for what it is, but that's what hype does!
google avatar

Janie D.

Yelp
One of the best coffee shops in LA. Their beans are a special Stumptown blend, roasted in LA, and their loose leaf teas are thoughtfully sourced. This Koreatown location is located in the lobby of The LINE hotel, which is filled with natural light, and plenty of seating. The bakery case was stocked with Farmshop pastries (the best wholesale bakery in LA, in my opinion), and other local treats. I normally go for espresso, but Alfred offers single-origin matcha that is shade grown, steamed, and stone ground just for them by fifth-generation tea masters in Yame, Japan. I got it with oat milk, and a pump of their incredible house made vanilla syrup. It was, hands down, the best matcha latte I have ever enjoyed. Do not hesitate to get a pastry. The Spinach Artichoke Danish was delicious; delicate, buttery layers encase a savory cheese/artichoke filling. I enjoyed this so much that I had a second one. The staff were friendly and efficient. 10/10.
google avatar

Rianna G.

Yelp
The iced matcha latte was okay. It was $6.70, so a bit overpriced since it also had the Line Hotel fee. I got mine with oat milk, and they use Oatly. The latte was watery and blander than I would like. The seating area in the Line Hotel was nice and had many places to sit, so the atmosphere was enjoyable.
google avatar

Elisa M.

Yelp
My favorite coffee place. I love the iced lavander latte, their chai tea and my go to for food is the Rico suave burrito with bacon and the two Alfred Coffee sauces. They never screw up my online orders even if I have special requests. I love the ambiance of the Line Hotel lobby where their store is located.
google avatar

Grace K.

Yelp
Alfred's Americano was so rich and flavorful. So I bought their organic beans for my drip coffee and it's actually better than my expectations. I'd give 5 stars for flavor but their price is not my favorite lol. I love their take out cup design but the lid doesn't fit very well so coffee's leaking out of the cup.

Hanna S.

Yelp
I always order a Matcha latte, but this one was not it for me. I felt like the Matcha was just not it. The place is calm and beautiful, and they are really nice.
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
This place is amazing to catch up with a friend with a cup of coffee. I got the iced matcha latte that day and it was amazing. This place has plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors and is inside the LINE hotel. The staff members were very kind and quick with the drinks:

Jamie S.

Yelp
The customer service is atrocious. The clerk at the counter was rude. When I asked him if there was ginger tea, he told me to read the menu myself. Then when I went to pay he added a tip without my permission and when I asked him why he did that he walked away. He should not be working here.
google avatar

Kristen T.

Yelp
During COVID-19 as of 2021: Lovely hotel coffeeshop inside the Line Hotel in K-town. Limited hours with outdoor seating in the hotel. Super cute aesthetics with a nice selection of drinks including bubble tea and matcha options. I got the Americano off the matcha list. Was it what I was expecting? No. However, I am a matcha drinker whether it's with milk or not so I did not have any complaints with the drink in general. I was disappointed that it was straight matcha and not espresso with matcha, so the menu was a bit misleading. Overall, I enjoyed having an upscale coffeeshop in the hotel with quality ingredients. I got their ceremonial matcha powder to take home along with their rose chocolate bar. Price range is LA prices. Love the branding here. It's my first impression of this brand and I'm excited to try their other locations and beverages. Open during COVID-19/lockdowns inside the Line Hotel with limited hours. Outdoor seating available. Accepts cash and card. Bathrooms in the hotel. Drink up!
google avatar

Darlene Y.

Yelp
I like the coffee, it's just really expensive for what it is. You're paying for the brand. This location is inside the Line Hotel. There is zero parking around. ENJOY!

Marcos T.

Yelp
Do not believe these 5 star reviews, this was the most booboo coffee I've ever had. Got an extra shot in my iced coffee and it still straight up tasted like milk.
google avatar

Steph G.

Yelp
Not quite sure what all the hype is about Alfred. The two iced vanilla latte that we ordered tasted average at best. And when I say I've had coffee all around the world in various forms and temperature, I mean that. Small cute location located inside Line Hotel. Since it still had some Covid pandemic measures in place, there were some outdoor seating as well as some limited inside seating. I'm not sure if that carries over into the lobby/nightclub area. The service was super nice and friendly but again I just thought the drink was average at best but a step up from Starbucks. Pricey to say the least. I visited on a Saturday around 130. The display/pastry case was quite empty so I'm not sure if there were other items available earlier in the day. Also, the outdoor seating area wasn't clean at all. The tables were sticky and covered in crumbs.

Chloe M.

Yelp
Life hack: order with the Alfred app / website because you can get toppings / additives for free. They're one of those cafes where u can't customize things when you order in person. a classic LA slay, and if you were on tumblr back in the day you won't be dissatisfied just on the basis of their vibe. live love alfred's. even tho the line is always super long
google avatar

Lina C.

Yelp
I had really high hopes for this coffee shop as i've seen it all over social media and this location is right across my apartment complex but I was really disappointed. My go to drink at all coffee shops is some variation of an Iced Vanilla Oat Milk Latte. I tried their "World Famous" Iced Vanilla Latte with oat milk and also their hot vanilla latte. There was literally no vanilla or coffee flavor in either. It literally just tasted like milk. Drinks run about ~$7 more or less which is standard in LA. I will continue my venture to find the best iced vanilla oat milk latte. This coffee shop is a prime example of another typical overly hyped IG famous spot with nothing to show for. For now, Stereoscope & Maru are still my favorites. Pros: - Drinks come out really quickly. - Lots of seating due to sharing its lobby with The Line Hotel. - Friendly service.
