Alice’s Kitchen is a bustling Hong Kong-style cafe in Monterey Park, offering an extensive menu of beloved Cantonese classics amidst a lively, vintage-themed atmosphere.
"Whenever we visit Alice’s Kitchen, a larger-than-life Hong Kong cafe in Monterey Park, we feel giddier than a toddler with a bubble machine. This bright and busy diner is a full-on Hong Kong theme park, complete with an imported taxi cab parked outside, action movie posters on the walls, and a big family-filled patio. The food is just as fun, from the deliciously strong HK-style milk tea to the fried pork chop and egg sandwiches on pineapple buns to the Ovaltine-dusted french toast oozing sweetened condensed milk. On weekends, expect to wait a while for a table if you get there after 10am." - sylvio martins, brant cox, garrett snyder
"Just when we think we’ve experienced all the treasures of the San Gabriel Valley, a restaurant appears that makes us giddier than a toddler with a bubble machine. That’s how we felt the first time we visited Alice’s Kitchen, a larger-than-life Hong Kong cafe in Monterey Park that opened in 2019. This bright and busy diner is a full-on Hong Kong theme park, complete with an imported taxi cab outside, action movie posters on the walls, and a big family-filled patio designed to look like a street market. The food is fantastic—get the potent milk tea, pork chop pineapple bun sandwich, and the condensed milk-oozing Ovaltine french toast—but mostly we love what Alice’s represents: a lovingly oddball tribute to another part of the world that makes perfect sense here. "Our Favorite Dishes: Pineapple Buns, Congee, Beef Chow Fun If you’re looking for a big group spot in Monterey Park where everybody will walk away happy, head to Alice’s Kitchen. This crowded Hong Kong-style cafe has a big front patio, long communal tables inside, and a menu with well over 100 different dishes on it. You could eat here every day for two months and not try everything, so for first-timers, we recommend sticking to the congee, hot pot, and fried noodle sections - and always get a few plates of pineapple buns for the table." - jess basser sanders, amy clark, brant cox, brett keating
"A hallmark of a true Hong Kong-style cafe is a menu with enough variety to give the Cheesecake Factory a run for its money. The menu here, which varies at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, has something for everyone. There is a wide array of standard classics like pork chop baked tomato rice, pineapple buns with pork cutlet, clay pot rice, congee, noodles, and scallop fried rice. The grilled steak entrees are served with either rice or pasta and come with drinks. There are also an array of Chinese-American dishes like honey-glazed spare ribs and honey walnut shrimp. Alice’s Kitchen is operated by the family that opened the original Delicious Food Corner in Monterey Park." - Kristie Hang
"The original owners of Delicious Food Corner opened Alice’s Kitchen with a very similar Hong Kong-style breakfast and dinner menu. With over 15 kinds of congee, Alice’s is the place to go for standbys like pork and preserved egg or the house special with fish paste and lettuce." - Cathy Chaplin
