Ali’s roti shop

I was passing by here and got H u n g r y for my Trinidadian food. I went in and ordered 2 Aloo pies it was good length and full of flavor. It had body it was not thin and flimsy no Sar no it was like ordering a 6 inch sub and with channa and hot sauce what could I ask for nothing but give praise for that walk up on Flatbush ave and going in this Trini Restaurant . The workers are No Nonsense, strait forward and friendly at the same time, the place looks clean and very organized . I would highly recommend this place to everyone . Am already thinking to go back one day and try out their food.

This is actually a 4.5 Star review. Decided to stop by for dinner and am happy to say that the curry chicken was the closest to home that I've tasted in years...(I'm from T'dad). Every place has its strengths and weaknesses, but with curry like that I can't complain. 👍👍

Not as I expected. I've heard that they are the best so I decided to check out their doubles and chicken roti because those are the most popular items and I had hoped of shortening my trip for doubles. The roti was sized nicely and the amount of filling was sufficient however it's more on the bland side. It's a filling that everyone can have and then add their spices but there will be no complaints from the Hypertension community. The spice level of the sauce was a 4 out of 10. The doubles used the same filling and the channa was very grainy. I like mines a little on the mushier side. Again I added the shadow benni and tamarind sauce. It was meeh. The bara (the bread used for doubles) was more on the firm side. I prefer mines soft and melt in your mouth. The place itself was clean, nicely decorated and staffed by some very, efficient and courteous people. I like the updated ATM machine... There's two chairs outside to rest when the line is out the door. Alas I will have to continue to take the bus to DeHotPot Three stars . 1 for the decor, 1 for the customer service and 1 for the size of the items.

I got the doubles and a sorrel drink and they were the best doubles in Flatbush. The staff are pretty too 😉

One of the best roti shops in town ! Can’t go wrong ever ! Other food is also really good. One of my favorites is the salmon and the creamy pasta ! Don’t think twice about this one !

This shrimp doubles right here. It was delish. Perfectly curried, nice amount of heat, a mild calming sweetness from the tamarind sauce. The staff is friendly and they have a lot of options. I'll be back for the roti!

Doubles never ready on time! Shouldn’t that be the first thing they make upon arrival? It’s a breakfast food & I never get to actually have them for breakfast. Never ready to around 1pm even bother heading out before

Stephanie and Vanessa helped us today and I have to say it was a lovely experience. For me, great customer service is first on my list of importance when choosing places to eat, the Food has to be good too but that is only determined after the first encounter with service. Vanessa and Stephanie were so kind and an absolute pleasure to work with. T he food is absolutely delicious and I’d give the whole experience 100 stars if I could. We are customers for life now! Thank you ladies!

Delicious roti! There's a vegetarian option, chickpeas, spinach, potato, pumpkin. Several sauce options (tamarind, pepper, etc). Pay cash $10. If you don't have cash, there's an atm. Quickly made to order. Friendly folks. Order to go, as there's no seating here (try the community garden behind the library, or prospect park!).

Good food. Decent service. Great location. It's an in and out restaurant. I never dined in.

Ali's roti shop is a household name in the Caribbean community for food and they have a few locations. I didn't realize when Jen's roti shipped moved locations that they'd take over the space but it was a smart move. I had the shrimp doubles. It was Curry shrimp, chana with a bit of heat and that delicious sweet tamarind sauce between 2 soft pillows. I bought roti for my family. The only difference I notice with them is that they put the stewed/curried chana instead of the traditional curried potatoes I'm use to with other establishments. Both are tasty. The remodeled space is still small, more of a to-go express restaurant but in the summer they had a few tables and chairs outside. The place was more bright and they have a lot of great food options. Check it out!

I would not support this establishment or recommend them. Terrible service and the doubles were not good at all. I ordered 40 doubles a week in advance for pick up at 9:00AM on Saturday. The order was paid for and confirmed via text message. When I got there no order existed and the manager, who made it known several times that she is Mrs. Ali, proceeded to be rude with no apology for the mishap. I waited for the order because she would not give a refund. I asked for sauce, she asked staff to pour tamarind in a cup and that's all they had. If I didn't ask there would be no topping. When I asked for a take out container instead of a cup to serve it from I was told it cost $5. Frustrated I just left with whatever because it was for church and this made me late. $100 spent and so not worth it.

I'm so disappointed in the chicken roti I had here. It lacked flavor and authenticity. I was expecting too much. They didn't have chana..... what type of roti spot don't have no chana. That should be a crime. On top it the chicken roti being mediocre I found a hair on my skin. Turn off waste of money.

They have decent food. But the super loud music today was too much. I don't think all the loud music will help their business. At all.

Not going back here. I don't spend money in places where the staff is rude to me period! The girl serving the food needs an attitude adjustment! I was going to buy more than one roti but the way she was taking to me. She asked me if I wanted tamarind sauce and before I could answer she looks at me and yells Yes or No! Yes or No! with attitude! I waited almost 20 minutes to place my order because she was busy doing a big order and then when its my turn she acts like that. The other girl on the register was texting and looking at her cell phone the entire time and not taking orders or helping. She totally ignored me when I walked in! The line for food was out the door! People in the back with the food no Masks on! Unprofessional to say the least! The chicken (no bones) roti I purchased lacked flavor. The meat tasted like it was baked then put in curry sauce. The meat inside looked white no curry flavor inside the meat. The potatoes was just a mashed sauce. No chunks of potatoes and a small spoon of channa.

Have you ever seen chick peas this black before ? I also bought a roti boneless chicken, So I already know the chick peas is black in the roti as well. And it tastes very salty dry and horrible. For me this is unacceptable and disappointing Since I have eaten from there before in the past. Smh idk

I am so disappointed in the purchase made. We bought both dhalpuri and paratha aka buss up & was astonished at what we received. Dhalpuri with no dhal and stiff buss up. Come on man allyuh cyar be doing people dem thing. Even my guests were like what is this? Dhalpuri need split peas and buss up need to be flaky.

Chili shrimp and curry goat was great! Also had lo mein which was quality as well. Would recommend

Staff is a lot better now. Food is fantastic and hence why it's so busy esp during lunch hour. Then things run out by dinnertime, like chana so get there for lunch.

The roti is one of the best I've had and as a Guyanese it's hard to admit . The only reason I'm giving Ali's 4 stars and not 5 is because the pholourie was dry, I am willing to try it again as it may have just been an off day. The doubles are also delicious! I will definitely be frequenting Ali's

The are very rude, condescending and the service is poor as well as the communication. Get different people to work the front.

Driving down Flatbush today I was so damn happy to see they opened this location close to my house. Called the missus, told her we're having Trini food tonight. She's like "whatever." Drove over there, picked up a roti with chicken (with bone as it should be), stew chicken and curry goat for the kids, plantains, rice and peas. The staff behind the counter were super nice and helpful. Everything was great. Roti was on point, as expected. But everything was great. A welcomed addition saving me the trip to bed stuy or crown heights.

Came here to try a new spot and literally left as soon as the woman said no doubles . How do you run out of doubles ?! That is straight ridiculous, what kind of trini spot runs out of doubles ?! If you want good trini food or doubles please go to Singh's or Trinciti.DONT WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE ! I can't stress it enough because this spot is clearly NOT A REAL trini spot , they had NO DOUBLES !

It would be professional to see the staff covering their heads, wearing aprons over their street clothing and stop talking over the food they are preparing and serving. They started out with a bang but recently I bought a Chicken Roti and a small piece of plastic paper was found inside it. Be careful and get back on point. I like the place!

Great curry shrimp roti, really good doubles. I also like Jen's around the corner, but for my taste Ali's has more flavor.
