S/O to Chef Scotley Innis, and partner Aliya, on this dope Caribbean-fusion bar concept, nestled in Williamsburg's Hotel Indigo. I have had great experiences at Aliya and hope to dine at Continent BK soon. The drinks are fun, festive and precursor to a great time! THE FOOD IS DIVINE. Make sure to order everything off the menu. Seriously, that's the only way to truly enjoy what Aliya has to offer! The ambiance is spectacular. The service is hospitable and engaging. The menu is a creative masterpiece. Perfect for date nights and intimate gatherings.

The food was delicious! But definitely overpriced. We ordered 4 items and our server only heard 2 of them so we were waiting and waiting and asked where the rest of our order was and he was confused. We eventually got it and he did apologize but for those prices they should be doing better! The lavender lemonade and sorrel were very tasty!

I came to Aliya for my friend’s birthday dinner. The rooftop restaurant is soo cute & cozy. We had a family style dinner. I loved the tamarind wings, kale salad, and vegetable fried rice. I liked the lamb chops but I thought they were a little salty. The rooftop area is very cute with a pool & cabanas - so many great spots to take pictures. I liked my sorrel drink but I felt as if it was overpriced.

Spent some time by the pool and the food service menu is from the restaurant, Aliya. The Oxtail Tacos are definitely superb. I would order it again and again. Please Be Advised is DOES have some spice. If you do not take well to spice, I would skip this and get the fried rice. The Oxtail on both is very succulent and juicy. Full of flavor. The drinks are good. The Old Fashion, I'd give a 7/10. Same for the margarita. I'm also giving my advice from being poolside. They may make it differently for indoor dining, but I definitely plan on returning for the indoor dining experience 💚😁

My girls and I came to Aliya last weekend for the first time had the BEST time! It’s the perfect summertime rooftop vibe! The vibes were great! The DJ was dope, it was super sunny (before it poured), we sat at a cute 4 seater table right by outside, but technically inside. It got great sunlight, our waitress was attentive and got us our drinks and meal quickly. We read the reviews and were nervous about the food, but we were all very pleased. We ordered the wings, plantain fries, jerked elote, and a salad. Everything was really good and came out pretty quickly. We also did drinks and we weren’t disappointed. They could of been a little stronger, but overall the taste was good. Always happy to support a super cute chic Black owned spot! Also, the decor was 10/10! My only complaint is they’re pretty strict on having a reservation, you can’t just be in the neighborhood and say oh let’s go here real quick. We’ll definitely be back!

The food was amazing! The oxtail rice is awesome and lamb is juicy! The service is great the hosts, waiters / waitresses, and bartenders are super nice. The atmosphere is chic, mature, good vibes and drinks !

Google
The place is immaculate. Very clean and great service. The drinks are great, and if you want to impress someone well, this is it. However, the entrees were very small and not fulfilling. There weren't many food options as well. They also have pool parties, and the outside is gorgeous 😍. The only issue was the food.

The design, esthetics are beautiful however its a quant dining area. My party of 3 was seated at a small round table on the outside deck. We ordered majority of the small and medium bites so logistically that set up would not suffice. I had asked to speak wirh Maritza since I have previous comms with her due to them rescheduling my bday dinner 2x. But I now realize why, this is a place strictly for drinks and light bites. I was not wowed by the flavors used. But the vibe and drinks are good.

Yelp
Throughly enjoyed this spot. Arrived here on a Saturday night my cousin and I. You enter a small area within the hotel and take the elevator up to the roof. Beautiful decor and views as you exit. The night time air was a bit crisp so we opted to sit inside. And we ordered the tamarind wings and the green plantain fries served with a good spicy sauce. I wish I had the name of my cocktail I'll just insert the photo but it was a spicy kick. The music was nice a mix of hip hop, r&b , afro beats and reggae. It's a sexy vibe in there. The crowd is mixed between tourist and locals , guest Of the hotels.

Yelp
Terrible So sad. It is just pretty ambience I wanted to like it. But, I dont. The food was horrible The drinks was bad. I tried espresso martini. Please dont bother. Then changed to lemon drop, not good either The only tasty thing off that menus was the lobster tostones. The rice was Absolutely HORRIBLE The corn was sour eww The tamarind wings gross

Yelp
Love it here! You should try it too. Service ambiance music selection & food was great

Yelp
I wanted to like this place. It's a beautiful venue but the service was... trash. If anyone from the team is reading this, implement some kind of dress code, company t-shirt or at least name tags to identify the employees from the patrons. Flagging down an employee (which I shouldn't need to do after sitting at a table for an hour without being asked a single question) was nearly impossible. Everyone looked like a patron. When I finally had someone take my order there was no pen and paper, no device in hand to ensure the order was correct. So guess what I got 45 mins later? THE WRONG ORDER. Now, why would I, a party of 1, order TWO Mac and cheeses? She didn't want to double check before bringing that out to me? And then when I get the bill, guess what's still on it? The greasy Mac and cheese I didn't ask for. Guess what else was on the bill? A 22% automatic gratuity that isn't mentioned on the menu. I guess this is the incentive to provide subpar service. They're getting paid either way. Speaking of greasy Mac... I also order the tamarind wings which were very dry. The whole experience just turned me off. Maybe go for the drinks. I won't be returning though.

Yelp
Located in the Hotel Indigo Aliya was decorated nicely from the lobby. I can commend the decor. The Chairs were also big and comfy. I was the last to arrive in group so I found them seated. There was no chair at the table fore despite knowing there were 5 people coming. They let me know that despite having reservations they were met with a bit of confusion at the hostess area. Nonetheless they found table for us. I flagged down a waitstaff for a menu order a drink because I wasn't greeted when I got there. It wasn't super busy so I'm not sure what happened. We ordered almost everything to try. I really wanted to be blown away but things were lacking in seasoning. Such as the oxtail rice. The shrimp taco shells were so dry it was hard to swallow and a ton of onion that overtook everything. The shrimp dumpling was ok. Too much sesame oil that again over took the delicate shrimp. The best thing was the wings and the oxtail taco. What left a bad taste in my mouth was the check was given basically rushing us from the table. I understand there is an seating time limit. However , there were ppl there longer than us that weren't being rushed. They were trying to take plates away that we just got with food on them. It was not cool. When yhe check came they have a QR code to use toast to pay. That system is a scam and charged me an additional 68 dollars for gratuity after we already paid gratuity. I had not hit added tip but it did it automatically. So if you go here I'd say just give your card and don't pay from your phone. When I tried to resolve the issue the wait staff was rude about it and didn't seem helpful at all. I asked for management who then voided the payment. This was however after a long discussion of the situation. All in all. I will not be back. I was excited to try somewhere new and black owned but it was not organized as it should and the incident and customer service left a lot to be desired.

Yelp
Aliya is a great place for a date night or girls night. Ordered the tacos, plantain fries, oysters, and fried rice. Everything was flavorful with exception of the oxtail fried rice. It was lacking seasoning and was way overpriced for what it was. I was disappointed in that. But the plantain fries were the best thing! Note it's very dark in here. Probably too dark in my opinion. But definitely the vibe they were going for. Note the proportions are small so you'll need several order of things (at least 4-6 for two ppl).

Yelp
Brooklyn has a nice hidden Den cocktail spot that's worth the visit. This restaurant is located on the rooftop of Hotel Indigo Williamsburg. When you enter the hotel there is an amazing aroma and the lobby is very stylish perfect for a photo shoot. You walk to the back onto the right side and it's like entering a hidden location. You are greeted by the hostess who will check you in and also ask if you would like to check your coat. Then you proceed to enter the elevator which is decorated with the design of the room you can't really tell that it's the actual elevator. It looks like the art decor of the wall. So let's talk about the small plates that you can order. Yes, they are small plates but very filling..... Drinks: Sorrel - had a good taste Ginger Beer- no complaints from my sister so must have been on point Food: Oxtail Fried Rice without the oxtail (no meat anymore) Shrimp Mandu- flavorful great size Plantain Fries - one of the best items of the night flavor and spice all in one was really good. Escovitch Lobster Tacos- they came our room temperature but taste really good. Tamarind Wings- was overcooked but as per my sister the flavor was good My reservations were for 9pm and upon arrival there was one large party seated next to us and their party table set up was very nice. Definitely gave me an idea on hosting a dinner party there. So busy eating and chatting with my sister we didn't realize that the nice open space was now filled with a lot of men and a few ladies. It's was like a whole party of all types behind us as we wrapped up our dinner. I must say when I saw that crowd I said this will be a one and done for me but I don't want to say that but I will say I will make earlier reservations to enjoy the restaurant cozy feeling without having people standing over my back towards the end of my meal. Overall, great experience and food but the key is to make earlier reservations but if you are on the younger side then yes the late night vibe would definitely be for you...... Enjoy if you goooo!!!!

Yelp
- friendly service - gratuity included - shrimp gyoza was salty, but everybody at the table loved it - oxtail taco was amazing - I loved the lobster taco - corn was corn - plantain fries were good - wings were good - there's not always a DJ - we purchased a poolside cabana it was hard to reach the 1500 minimum - sometimes u can't hear the music from the cabana - pool closed at 930 on a Friday, but they let us stay a bit later

Yelp
Ok, this restaurant is amazing. Between the food, the service and the views I'm going back without question. You do have to make a reservation. And trust me if you do not cancel in advance or are a no show they will charge you $15/pp (on your reservation). Upon entry (its inside Hotel Indigo Williamsburg) you check in with the hostess on the ground level and she escorts you in the elevator and to your seat. There's a pool up there too. Didn't know that you can patronize the pool via resort pass (I'm doing that next time too). My reservation was for 6, but I got there at 5 and the kitchen wasn't quite open yet. So I had a Vanilla Bean Manhattan, it was delicious. But the drink wasn't full to the rim of the glass. The servers were really nice, they were very accommodating cause I kept moving the umbrella cause that sun was beaming . I had the oxtail fried rice and baaaaaaaaby that dish was AH MAZ ING!!! I did take the fried egg over easy off my food. But it was so good. And I had the tamarind wings, they were a little undercooked. But the outside of the wings were very flavorful. The prices were not bad and I would definitely go back again. The views are of the BQE so the noise comes from the traffic. But the views are really nice without the honking And the biggest plus for me is that it's Black Woman owned. I was honored to support her.

Yelp
Really cozy space, however, didn't feel as though I was on top of people. It feels true to what would be expected of a hotel rooftop small plates restaurant. Servers were welcoming, friendly, and were comfortable explaining the menu and providing recommendations. For food, I did the wings, oxtail tacos, and plantain fries, which were all tasty. The tacos came out on what appeared to be pita bread, nice touch. The wings felt as though they were missing something, still can't quite put my fingers on it. The plantain fries were delicious! Definitely the highlight. What would've taken these over the edge is having them warmer and have some of the sauce on the side, while the sauce was delicious it might be overpowering and has a kick to it, so sauce on the side would've been perfect. For drinks, did the Bonita applebum, honestly didn't need another drink due to the size. My guest tried the Ja-Ja which they enjoyed. Will be back to try additional items on the menu. They did a good job overall with the space, menu and overall feel.

Yelp
I came her for my friend's birthday and we had a great time. We ordered almost everything on the menu. I had two drinks, I did not like the second drink. The first drink was really good and pretty, the blackberry drink. We ordered the oxtail fried rice, the mushrooms, tacos, salad, the dumplings and corn. The service was great and I would definitely be back. The place is beautiful and has an outdoor area with a pool. The food was good my favorite were the tacos, fried rice and the mushrooms. The mushroom dish was my favorite. The service was as great, she was really nice her name was Ashley. I would definitely come back and recommend it to other people.

Yelp
I came up a few minutes to 5 and the chairs were on the bar. I was asked if I had a reservation and I said no I'm meeting friends at the bar. I was told they were closed today. Never saw any posts about it and everything else said they were open. I went downstairs and saw a woman at the desk who wasn't there before. I inquired about Aliya being opened and I was asked again about a reservation. So I said are you open for reservations or not open at all? She said they weren't open at all. If you're not open why are y'all here and why do you keep asking about reservations?

Muralla C.

Yelp
Decided to try this restaurant for my girlfriend's birthday. The restaurant is located on top of Hotel Indigo, on arrival you are greeted by the hostess downstairs and they have a separate elevator directly to the restaurant. I do like the fact that you need a reservation and they do not permit walkins. The restaurant is kind of small with tables inside and lounge chairs outside along side the pool. The decor is very modern and sexy. Upon being seated we had to wait awhile for our waitress, it seemed as though she was the only waitress for the whole restaurant. Staff were also hard to identify especially the waitress due to no name tags or dress code. Service is very lackluster and slow so do not go on an empty stomach. Orders came out quickly and I must admit the food was good. We had the Tamarind Wings, Oxtail Fried Rice, Spinach and Kale Salad, Lobster Tacos, and the Salt and Pepper Oyster Mushrooms. It also seems as though the menu changes because a lot of items on the menu listed on Yelp were not present. The drinks were also delicious I had the sorrel and it tasted just like my mother's. All in all, I would recommend this restaurant for a romantic date night, or a girls night out. I didn't rate it 5 stars only because of the poor service and the fact that you have to pay the 22% gratuity that is automatically added to your bill which is insane for poor service.

Crystal M.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday with a large group (about 15 of us) for a birthday celebration. We did a prefix menu, which was $99 per person, which does not include drinks and tips. Everything came out family style, very well-seasoned and hot. We ordered oxtail rice, lobster tacos, jerk lamb chops, tamarind chicken wings, and mexican style corn. I loved everything, but my favs were the jerk lamb chops and oxtail rice. Service was ok. The server was nice but very quiet.

Mysings A.

Yelp
In a city or options the fact that a venue as gorgeous as this would choose to fail in so many categories is not only disappointing but concerning. I do not recommend anyone invest time, money or energy here until they step up. Staff seems very overwhelmed and disconnected. They do not come across as warm at all in fact I would describe them as unpleasant leaving you with the feeling you're bothering them or disruptive to them despite being the customer. This connects to the wait time despite having a reservation and arriving a 10 min early to ensure we met the reservation we weren't seated until an hour after our reservation being told they were running behind. For a 9:30 pm reservation that's quite frustrating. The food is where they shine. Tasty bites packed with diverse flavors, seemingly fresh ingredients displayed thoughtfully is where they redeemed themselves. The bar tenders and mixologists need a raise because the drinks shined. Aliya has the potential. It's in a fabulous accessible location, the greeting and coat check followed by the sexy speak easy elevator ride up to the restaurant are all fabulous details. But all of that is lost when service and experience is so terrible because at the end of the day that's your primary menu offering. I look forward to seeing them invest in improvements and hopefully one day I can return and change my review. In the meantime...did not meet expectations.

Alora A.

Yelp
Let me just say this place is SEXY! it's on the rooftop of Hotel Indigo located next to the rooftop lounge/pool with a view of the sunset and the decor is just A1. We ordered the tamarind wings, kale salad, plantain fries, oxtail rice, corn and for drinks I had the 'Rita'. The food was really good my faves were the plantain fries and the oxtail rice. 4 stars because I wish the cocktail options were slightly better. But still overall a great night out, delicious food and great ambiance. Omg how could I forget the music? The playlist was it was giving old school hip hop and r&b. Would definitely come back.

Alia C.

Yelp
Cute spot for date night or an intimate celebration. However, the food was just Ok,but they do have dessert which was good so therefore this also makes for a nice spot for an after dinner cocktail or nite cap. Service was mediciore, you can tell the gratuity is included. But overall, It was cool, sexy little spot.

Phy L.

Yelp
The restaurant is located on top of the Indigo Hotel in Williamsburg , definitely a vibe. The ambiance was nice, it was a little warm that day so I recommend going in the late evening or at night. Service was good no complaints there , my only "issue" if you will are the limited items on the menu.

Jason B.

Yelp
Amazing spot. Great food. Beautiful view, and great tunes. Came to celebrate a friend's Birthday and they rolled out the red carpet for him.

Lillian H.

Yelp
The ambiance and service were on par with my expectations. The food..... not so much. Shrimp dumplings...NO. kale salad... Hard No. oxtail fried rice... absolutely NOT. The oxtail Tacos were amazing and the tamarind wings were ok.

Dana S.

Yelp
Vibes, great food, attentive service 10/10 Even for newly opened establishment I went with my girlfriends and it was a great experience!

Nadine J.

Yelp
Are you ready for the 411? Here we go...the restaurant is located within the Indigo Hotel. There is paid parking but is pricey and would do better parking on the street. The whole aesthetic of the place is lovely! However when we arrived there was a "kitchen situation" due to the chef not arriving on time. The customer service to make it right was impeccable. Daniella was our server and we loved her. She was VERY attentive and apologetic. Maritza walked over to each table and greeted the tables. They brought out the yuca fries as a thank you for being patient and was delicious. We ordered the plantain fries with Sriracha sauce with scotch bonnet and OMG it was HOT! Good but HOT...opened up my sinuses! We also had the lamb pot pie, the wings and the oxtail fried rice. The food was good but a tad on the salty side but still good. I cannot wait until it gets warmer to check it out in the summer. At that time, it will be more opened up and I will be able to give them another chance. Check it out because I am always about supporting new businesses. They have only been open three (3) months and need support. The ambiance is there and the food is good!

Grace-Ann M.

Yelp
I'm only giving them a two because we got seated almost immediately after being over an hour late. To start the waitress seemed very uninterested, almost like she didn't want to be there. They were out of 3 of the appetizers. We got the oxtail fried rice which lacked flavor and overall didn't taste fresh. The wings were ok, it would be hard to spoil wings and the elote. This is a great location, a little small but the overall ambiance is nice. I would suggest revisiting the menu items and staff training on simple pleasantries.

Stacy S.

Yelp
My friend wanted to celebrate her birthday at a place we've never been before. She found Aliya on instagram and decided to give it a chance. It was amazing. We decided to just order things for the table...plantain fries, lobster tacos, tamarind wings, dumplings oxtail fried rice...the salad...essentially everything off the menu. NOTHING disappointed. Not one thing. Everything was flavorful and you can taste the care taken. The drinks...highly recommend Enter the dragon. We will definitely be back! Side note....Rick was amazing and definitely enhanced our experience.

Heather W.

Yelp
The entrance to the cocktail bar appears to share the service elevator. Chicken wings - Good Corn riblets - bad. Too small to actually eat as ribs. And can't bite as is because the rind isn't removed. Plantain - bad. Should be advertised as not ripe. Oxtail tacos - meh. Toppings were cold and distracted from the minimal, fatty oxtail. Braised lamb - Tasteless. Lamb was tender but broth lacked seasoning. Just meat in water. Oxtail fried rice - bad - we had to search for the oxtail in it. Rice wasn't fried. More like steamed jasmine rice with some small vegetables and a fried egg on top. Drinks - Their list has overly sweet drinks. Need other options. Otherwise there's a full bar. The playlist was everything. It's a vibe. But don't eat. Just go for a drink, keep it basic, and chill with friends. The exhaust system doesn't appear to be working. The place smelled so strong of food, not in a good way. Like something was overcooked or burned. When we left, we smelled like fried chicken for the rest of the evening. It was in our hair, clothes and on our skin. Unfortunate when you're heading out for the night.

Claude M.

Yelp
Nice spot, great view, just needs more options on the menu. The service was amazing, i will definitely visit again.

sam sam l.

Yelp
Service was amazing they even have complimentary coat check. Ambiance was cute, however the place smelled like food. The food was not good, like at all!! The kale and spinach salad taste like soap, the shrimp dumplings also tasted like soap, the oxtail fried rice was just white rice with bits of oxtail with a hard fried egg. The only food I enjoyed was the oxtail taco. Yum!! That was very good.

Aliyah S.

Yelp
Loved the ambience! This place is super cute! However DO NOT come on a late night! My server took us to the table, waited a few for us to order she also mentioned the kitchen closed at 11. Prior to me coming I called the establishment to make sure if I had came at 10:30 the kitchen would still be open at a decent time so I won't feel like I'm wasting my time. If the person on the phone would have told me the kitchen closed at 11 and I have reservations at 10:30 I would have not come! Anyway we get seated order our food and drinks I order the plantain fries they came with some sauce which were very saucy and our plantains were super soggy and kind of cold. (How can fried plantains be soggy) After our server got us more plantains. She served us and after that did not even ask us if we needed anything else she literally started doing her late night duties as if we weren't even there. Didn't say hey I won't be serving you anymore but this person will NOTHING I HAD TO LITERALLY FIND A SERVER WHICH IS CRAZY she started at like 11 came back to our table at 11:35 after I've already had another server get us more drinks (not expectable) I get it ppl want to go home but don't waste my time with 10:30 reservations if your kitchen closes at 11. Just felt super discriminated against the other table seem to be having a good time with attentive service! Unfortunately I won't be back.

Nakia H.

Yelp
I can't believe how amazing this food is!! I'm not sure what I liked more. The tacos were amazing, the oyster mushrooms, the wings. All so good! And the cocktails were out of this world! A whole other story. Love this place. Can't wait to come back with my girls!!!

Tanisha A.

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday here and everything was amazing! Beautiful space, yummy food, delicious cocktails and fast/meticulous service. I don't know what they're paying Rick, one of the staff, but he's worth every penny as he added so much to our experience. I will definitely return. The experience was well curated and a whole vibe.

Ja L.

Yelp
I went there for a birthday party and I am so happy I went. This spot is awesome, the food was great and the service was on point. I can't wait for that pool to open... This is my new spot.

Rakhel J.

Yelp
I was highly disappointed in the way the employees handled the billing process in this establishment one of the workers made a mistake on her end which lead me and the rest of my friends to pay a way higher bill then expected and the staff memory didn't accommodate us for anything I will repeat the mistake they made wasn't our fault and we still had to pay the price for her actions which is absolutely unacceptable in the customer service business .

Glitter M.

Yelp
the location... the food, the cocktails... the staff, the service... the vibe, the interior... the esthetics... chef's kiss

Bayte L.

Yelp
I love the ambiance of Aliya! The spot is very cozy and dimly lit with great views! It definitely gives speakeasy, and the menu is great. I had the escovitch lobster tacos...amazing! I also enjoyed the oxtail fried rice and the tamarind wings. Aliya is so comfortable you wont be in a rush to leave lol, I'll definitely be back even if it's to sit at the bar.The Rose of Alexandria cocktail is my new fave drink. There's also a deck with a pool, Aliya will be my go to spot for the summer

Ternicia M.

Yelp
I decided to check out this spot for a mini birthday celebration and as of today, I will not be back. This spot is located inside Hotel Indigo - nice vibe, because decor & ambiance. It's a small cocktail bar, so they should reconsider big parties. I had a reservation for 6 at 9:30p on a Saturday. Despite an on time arrival, there was a 45 min wait for a table. I received a call 15 mins prior to my reservation stating that they're running 20 mins behind - which annoyed me. They offered lemon drop shots for the inconvenience, but read the room (e.g. guests), we were more of a Prosecco audience. Our server was not kind AT ALL (curt and unresponsive throughout the night). I made their job easy by simply ordering 2 of everything on the menu for the table, so not really clear what the frustration was about. There's also a 22% service charge automatically included. I noted it was my birthday on the reservation and there was no acknowledgment of it. The food was good and we mostly ordered wine & champagne - so no complaints there. I really wished I had a better experience given the hype. But I don't have to come back and not sure I would recommend this spot to anyone, until the operation is tighten up. I could have chosen another spot to celebrate my birthday. If you're looking for a quick drink at the bar and maybe a cute date night spot, this could be a solution for you.
