If you’re searching for a spot that seamlessly blends style, flavor, and impeccable service, ALK at the Godfrey Hotel in West Hollywood is the place to be. From the moment you walk in, you know you’re in for something special. The chic, modern design of the restaurant perfectly complements the sophisticated yet welcoming vibe that West Hollywood is known for.
I visited ALK for both brunch and dinner during my stay, and every experience left me more impressed than the last. Let’s start with brunch. The menu is thoughtfully curated with a variety of dishes that balance indulgence and freshness. I went with the avocado toast, which sounds simple—but here, it’s elevated to something extraordinary. The perfectly ripe avocado is layered over a thick slice of artisanal bread, topped with microgreens and just the right hint of citrus. Paired with a mimosa from their bottomless brunch option, it was the perfect way to kick off my day.
Dinner at ALK, though, is where things went from great to unforgettable. The vibe shifts slightly in the evening, becoming more intimate and sultry, with dim lighting and a lively yet not overwhelming ambiance. I ordered the truffle pasta and was absolutely blown away. Rich, decadent, and perfectly cooked—every bite was like a little piece of heaven. My dining companion had the grilled salmon, which was cooked to perfection: crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, and served with a light yet flavorful sauce that complemented the fish beautifully.
One thing that really sets ALK apart, though, is the cocktail menu. Their mixologists are artists in their own right. I tried the “West Side Vibes” (a refreshing twist on a classic gin cocktail) and the “Spicy Sunset,” a tequila-based drink with just the right kick. Both were expertly crafted and beautifully presented.
Of course, great food and drinks are only part of the equation. What really makes ALK shine is the service. Every staff member we interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about making our experience memorable. Our server took the time to walk us through the menu, offer recommendations, and ensure that every detail of our meal was flawless. It’s rare to find a place where the entire team seems so genuinely invested in your enjoyment, but that’s exactly what you’ll get at ALK.
And I can’t talk about ALK without mentioning the rooftop. After dinner, we headed upstairs to catch the sunset, and WOW. The panoramic views of Los Angeles are absolutely breathtaking. Watching the city lights come to life while sipping on a cocktail was the perfect way to end an already amazing evening.
In short, ALK is everything you want in a West Hollywood dining experience: trendy but not pretentious, elevated yet approachable, and bursting with flavors that will keep you coming back for more. Whether you’re a hotel guest or a local looking for your new favorite spot, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at ALK. You won’t regret it.
Five stars, without a doubt.
