After a long day visiting LA, we were looking for a great meal to order into the hotel. After deciding we would try a local place to get something, we found All About the Bread and ordered it to be delivered. The sandwiches were delivered fast and on time. Soon we were settled in to have huge sandwiches, which some say are some of the best in LA. Let's see how it measures up in my experience.
First, I always wanna talk about the vibe of a place. We did not visit the physical location, but looking over the menu and getting familiar with the place, I can tell that this is a sandwich shop that takes itself seriously. Baking their bread, offering premium meats, and toppings. I would love to go inside next time, but I will say even as someone who got a delivered order, the care they take with their brand comes through and is much appreciated.
We got two different sandwiches, I got Al's Signature with no mayo, and my partner Elisabeth went wild and got a roast beef sandwich.
These sandwiches were super fresh and delicious. The toppings and condiments were laid on with perfection. One of the biggest food sins a sandwich can commit is overfilling, where everything spills out; no spillage here, it's a finely crafted vessel for the ingredients. This is the kind of sandwich that just needs to be carried to your mouth; you don't have to put that much care into the bread.
But that's not how All About the Bread played it; instead, they are making some of the most crispy on the outside, moist on the inside bread every day in their store. The bread is what brings this review from a 4-star (would go again) to a 5-star (best in their class that I've had) review. It would be easy with bread like this to sleep on the ingredients; it would be easy with ingredients like this to sleep on the bread. All About the Bread said, "Who needs sleep?" and threw it down hard on both fronts.
We tried a few places in our trip to LA, but this was my favorite. This is a sandwich shop that knows what it's doing.
