"Allegro Romano opened in 2004 and became known as a hot spot for celebrities like Brad Pitt, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, and William Baldwin. It was also frequented by local power players such as Willie Brown and Gavin Newsom. The restaurant was the last in owner Lorenzo Logoreci’s portfolio before its closure." - Eve Batey

Very traditional Italian restaurant. It's a very small venue so it can be difficult to secure a table. I've been here for work engagements with a large party several times. The owner is heavily involved and an amazing host. The food is superb and if you're doing multiple courses, do not eat heavily before otherwise you will be unable to enjoy the fabulous desserts. I've had the pleasure of witnessing the owner sing, which is a delight for everyone in attendance. This is a gem of a restaurant that you have to enjoy. The view out the window is of the bay bridge which is fantastic at night when it's not socked in by fog.

I really loved this place. I went there awhile back for a going away party for my husband's best friend. It was a party of about 10 people. From what I remember the food was delicious. The service was excellent. The non-stop wine was delicious and though the place is a bit smushed, it is intimate, has rose petals, and great lighting. The ambiance is so fabulous that we actually stayed until closing. Really nice. I did ask what kind of wine they were pouring but the waiter refused to answer my question. Eh! I'll be back, anyway.

Food was decent. We've been here before and the food was much better. This time, the wait staff was still good, but the overall quality has slipped drastically. I'm giving it 1 star because the owner, who took our order was rude and inhospitable. He was a TOTAL JERK. We celebrated my Mother's 70th Birthday and there was zero acknowledgement of that, even after we made sure to express that when we reserved. I am telling all of my friends never to go there.

Best dining experience ever! The food was fantastic - I feel like that was a given based on the menu containing truffle in half the items. But the real thing to talk about was the spectacular service. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. My date and I didn't have reservations, but walked up to the restaurant around 7pm (which turned out to be right in between their two seatings). Luckily for us there had been a couple of no-shows/cancellations so we were able to get a table. From the beginning, it was a top notch experience. Fresh rose petals on the table and waiters who didn't miss a detail. My date ordered soup, but I didn't want an appetizer, so rather than have him eat alone, the waiter brought me free bruschetta and an extra spoon. Our dinners were both delicious (and the wine too). When our dessert came, they added extra treats to the plate and a candle for good measure (not my birthday, but what the heck?). The waiters were both charming and entertaining, keeping us smiling and laughing throughout the evening. At the end, they gave each woman at every table a beautiful red rose when they brought the check. We left full, happy as could be and our cheeks hurting from smiling and laughing. Hands down, this was the best dining experience I've ever had.

This was my 2nd time at Allegro Romano (went on October 23rd, 2014) and I have to say, the service quality and the food quality have both decreased. We had a 4-person reservation at 615 pm, and we were promptly seated. When they came around for our dinner orders, the waiter seemed rush and annoyed that he had to explain the menu a few times because not all of us could hear him talk about the specials. And we have a few food allergies at the table, and he seemed like we were bothering him when we asked for them to not include cream, cheese, etc. When it came time for the bill, it took the waiter about 30 minutes to bring over our check - so long!

Lorenzo is a wonderful host whose wine pairing recommendations are spot on. Food has been consistently delicious for the 10 years we've dined there. Allegro celebrated its 20 years anniversary this year and continues to be a favorite spot for a special dinner.

Beware of the billing practices of Allegro Romano. I took a party of 10 for dinner. The waiter pushed for what he wanted us to have, characterizing dishes that turned out to be billed at $20 a plate as a little taste of this and that. Wine was being poured with abandon even after we told them to ask before pouring. Another bottle appeared open without us ordering it. The waiter then presented a bill for $901! When I questioned what the scribbled entries were and how the bill became so high. They apologized that they had given another table our bill. This was completely false as the largest other table in the restaurant was 6 people and by the time our bill arrived we were the only party left in the restaurant. They then quickly produced a bill they said was correct for $630. Dishonest and intentional practices to bilk their customers. I gave them two stars because the food was good. They should be in jail instead of the restaurant business.
