The best tacos in the world ✋'s ⬇️. Nothing has changed but the day of the week. If I could eat here three times a week, I'd be thrilled. If I could review this place daily, I would—it deserves that much love. Been coming since my teen years, and these are hands down the best tacos ever. Every friend I've recommended it to agrees. I always get steak tacos with everything, no sour cream, but I’ve tried the whole menu, even the fries. My only complaint? It's not next door to my house because I’d go every day. Stop in and enjoy the best tacos in Chicago!

this was a surprisingly solid taqueria and fairly cheap too for the area. food came out fairly quick and had piles of toppings. nothing mind-blowing and not too many options.

I love Allende, whenever I am in the area, it is one of my top food choices. They have excellent tacos and each has two tortillas. The staff has always been friendly. If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping by.

Tacos was bland, no seasoning at all. They had no green sauce only red sauce, that was so hot it burns your taste buds. Explains why it’s so hot cause the taco has no flavor. Not even the lime wedges could help. Tortillas was raw almost like they only heated it in the microwave. Only thing I can say is the price was decent but you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, I won’t be a returning customer due to me not enjoying the food. Staff was nice so it was not a problem in that.

Best burrito I've ever had. Granted, I had walked 30,000 steps that day, but still. Carne Asada burrito was amazing.

Great homemade Mexican dinner. I’ve had the burrito and enchiladas. Can’t recommend them enough. The salsa is awesome, but the heat catches up with you after a little bit.

Ordered a chorizo burrito with the cream on the side. So good. It was large enough to split in half with my partner. Staff were friendly! Food was fresh and service was quick. Highly recommend this place.

I am writing this review as I am sitting at the restaurant lmao 🤣 Man, I haven't been to this place in YEARS. I remember YEARS ago, this place was good. Baby, listen, to the people leaving 5 star reviews saying this food is amazing, probably don't season their food.... because sweetie, these tacos taste like John and Rebecca saw a Tik Tok video on how to make Mexican tacos from a girl named Carol who lives in down south Mississippi 🤣 I wanted a taco dinner with 3 tacos, 2 carne asada, and one Al Pastor, girl in the register going to be like, "We can't mix the meat" girl what?! 😫 I always asked for it with no issues everywhere else in Chicago. Just charge me separately for each meat... foo! 😡 Anyway.....to make it even more disappointing, they didn't have green salsa.. only red....I don't like red. I tried the red and it's spicy as hail, I'm going to be best friends with my toilet later. The atmosphere here is so quiet. Some Mexican music would be nice 😌 👌 If I lived nearby and this was the only taco place, I'd be outside with a sign protesting for people not to come inside. This will be my last time here, I should've just had Chiptole instead next door! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Allende is located a few doors down from Lincoln Hall and it was one of the restaurants open late after the concert. It's brightly lit and it was clean. I only had their horchata and it was absolutely delicious. IIt checked off all my qualities for tasty horchata: creamy, sweet, no chalky aftertaste, smooth. I will have to come back to try their food. They got the horchata stamp of approval from me.

Stopped here for a little late night treat, and Allende did not disappoint. The horchata was delicious!!

I've been coming here since I was in highschool. The food is always great the service is always great. Some of the best tacos in the city.

Open late at night, this place serves the best steak burrito which not only fills your stomach but your soul as well! The steak taco was outstanding and chorizo flavored well. The owner is a sweet lady and conversations with her made the experience even better. NOTE - They accept card and not Apple Pay.

I took this order to go and it was amazing. So flavorful and so fulling. I got the burrito and the torta both with carne asada. They only take cash or card and do not take apple pay. Prices are definitely worth it and I am definitely coming back.

Wow!! Best steak (juicy and seasoned) burrito I have had in years!! Must try! Got two with different toppings and both were lights out! Trust me you won't be disappointed! Friendly female owner at the register! A little light on the sour cream and chips but guacamole was nice size portion. Will be returning in the next couple weeks!

Tasty burritos at reasonable prices at this local shop near DePaul University. This no-frills establishment has a standard selection of tacos, burritos, tortas, and plates with a variety of meats to choose from. Their homemade red salsa is tasty and has a good kick. Portions were solid and service was quick and friendly. Solid spot for a meal on the go.

I love Allende! I always recommend and get either the chicken quesadillas and the al pastor tacos :) and always a side of rice and beans.

BOUCHE taco place! I got charged $41 for a couple of steak taco dinners! That's unheard of to me as it's usually just like 11 bucks for 1 dinner. Whatever. I'll pay the hipster prices this time but never again! It was decent food though but I should've just gone cookie cutter restaurant this 1 time in my life like Jimmy Johns er somethiing not so expensive. I got a mortgage to pay!

No complaints except when you click the link for the menu it is severely outdated. Things are probably double the prices now. You'd expect an online menu to be more accurate but a 150% price tag is a little annoying. Tacos say 1.55 online but are 2.95, for example. That said, I got the chorizo burrito and while the food is super fresh and hot, the flavor is kind of lacking. There was also nothing but chorizo and lettuce and tomatoes in my burrito even though the menu in the restaurant said it also had sour cream and cheese. The hot sauce, which you have to ask for, is basically hot salsa and that's pretty damn good and does add a lot. Overall, they 100% misrepresented themselves online and the quality of ingredients doesn't represent a $12 burrito but it was open late while chipotle next door wasn't. A means to an end but not sure I'd go back unless forced to.

I come in here alot because it's close to work and I get a steak burrito or torta every time and every time it's fantastic!! Always full of steak, hot, put together well and easy to hold! I highly recommend! The salsa is also super good, not too spicy but not mild either! BRING CASH OR YOUR CARD though, no apple pay!

Came during the weekend where the city turned the river green. It was very busy, which was understandable. I came to say how well the employee handled a situation with a sexist, mysoginist, and drunk customer. Keep doing what y'all are doing! The food and service is great. The horchata is great to get here too!

I tried the carne asada taco and the al pastor. $3.50 for a taco these days is not a bad price, and the meats were flavorful and freshly griddled. Heads up their red salsa is a bit on the spicy side! Solid spot, and it helps that they're open late.

I had steak tacos, meat was not seasoned. Food was terrible. I've had better. Service was great though. They also don't have a restroom but offer dine in services.

Hands down the best burrito I've ever had. I highly recommend the Carne Asada Burrito. So flavorful with such simple ingredients. Freshly made, quick service and opened late on weekends. Definitely a staple late night stop! S/o to Maria:)

We stopped by here before a show because we knew we could go in and out quickly. There was a foul smell when we walked in but the mask helped. I ordered two carne asada tacos with cilantro and onions. They tasted great to me. However my Mexican friend said the carne asada was too dry since they cut the meat into small pieces. She also said her Al Pastor taco didnt have the pineapple kick she was expecting. So maybe this place caters to the taste of the non-Mexicans living in Lincoln Park? It was one of my go to, after a night of clubbing, place to go over 15 years ago. Im just surprised its still around! Their doing something right!

This place absolutely slaps! In the hardest way possible! Been a go to for the neighborhood folk for years and never disappoints. Great food, solid prices, great vibes, kings of the northside.

Had breakfast here at the end of my most recent Chicago trip. It was Sunday but I wasn't feeling fancy brunch. I wanted some solid breakfast. I had gotten Mexican food the night before across the street and realized I should have come here, though they don't have a restroom which is what I really needed after getting off the Red Line. I could see how it's popular for late-night food. It's the kind of flavorful but no-frills food you want to eat after your other nocturnal adventures. But they make a mean breakfast too. I had the huevos rancheros. The eggs are runny in the middle and you need the beans and rice to soak up the yolk, and they come with tortillas. The hot sauce from the squeeze bottle was no joke. Definitely enhanced the flavor in small doses. I would come back and try the non-breakfast items if I'm ever back in Lincoln Park.

This is my favorite taco spot in Chicago. I've been going for over 20 years. I highly recommend them and they stay open late.

Tacos are quickly made to order. Taste good. The salsa tastes good. No bathroom here though. $5 credit card minimum. No free chips and salsa. Overall a decent taqueria

De Paul students really got it made here! Allende is not only quick and cheap, but the quality of its Mexican food is superb and really holds its own in a city where tacos seem to be found every other corner. We came here for a quick bite after checking out the nearby Alphawood Gallery. Allende feels like an old school diner with Mexican flavors. There is a bright menu displaying the various items ranging from tacos to tortas, burritos to enchiladas, and horchata. Everything ranges from $3 - $10 so it's definitely an inexpensive dining experience. You place your order first at the counter, seat yourselves, and then await for the food to come. I ordered the carne asada torta ($5) and a side of fries. Let me just say that the tortas here were bomb! Great meat quality, large portions, and their avocado spread was very generous. It was so good that I ended up ordering a milanesa torta to go. It wasn't as good as the carne asada, so I'd stick with that in the future. Loved dining here and would definitely come again for some excellent Mexican for cheap.

There's not many affordable options to eat by Depaul and Allende is decent. My torta was pretty good but one thing that really annoyed me was they wouldn't give me water with my meal . They only offered to sell me a bottled water almost left because of that but I was hungry. Also no complimentary chips and salsa with your meal but you never know which places still do that.

Tried Allende for the first time, and it was excellent!! Everything was super fresh and their salsa is delicious. Super cheap too. New favorite Mexican spot!

Came here for late night food on a Friday, and I had high hopes for this authentic Mexican spot. I ordered a chicken taco and a side of fries. The chicken was unfortunately very dry, and I couldn't even finish it. The fries were okay, but nothing special. The prices are a bit high especially for the quality. Maybe other meat is better, but for now stay away from chicken!

I have been coming here for over 20 years. I understand nothing stays the same but damn it...I ordered my usual Steak Nachos extra sour cream and extra cheese, rice and guacamole and chips. My steak was kinda hard and extremely greasy! My Guacamole was slightly watery and my rice was bland. This is the second time this year I have came and the food was below par!! Did you guys get a new cook or what!!!!? I am so saddened by this!

I wanted something different than a sandwich so I chose Mexican. If Fiesta Mexicans was still open I would have gone there instead. This spot has been here for a bit, just never tried it til today. The exterior is outdated for a place in this neighborhood. The inside is also outdated. Must be the same menu boards from 20 years ago. One word guys...UPDATE!!!! It's 2019, not 1999. Everything needs updating inside. It's clean but not contemporary for the area. The lady who took my order was nice, friendly. Brought food to table when it was ready. I ordered 2 steak tacos, an order of rice & 1 horchata = $9.46....Lincoln Park prices. Lol. The tacos were good, not great; rice was ok; horchata was good. Overall I'd was a good meal, not great. I hope next time I visit I see something new in there.

I've had steak tacos and steak burritos from here and the other location, near here, several times. They are always good. The salsa is usually always good with chips and even as a sauce for tacos. This time the sauce was a little more watery then normal but it could be a one off. Overall always a good experience even late nights. Call and order ahead if you're on the go.

Great nostalgic food horrible service. No bathrooms bullshit excuse that people can't used bathrooms due to covid and restrooms being thru the kitchen.

Ok. They're allowing chorizo and steak on the burritos again I think it was just that one stupid employee from 4 years ago. Wow.

Prices are cheap but the burrito I got was really sub par. First of all I think it's really strange the burritos don't come with rice. Second of all they forgot two ingredients so my burrito was essentially shredded chicken, sour cream and lettuce. The shredded chicken also had weird crunchy seeds (I think..) which wasn't appetizing as I couldn't identify what it was. Definitely wasn't the worst food I've ever had but definitely wont be retuning.

Gotta support great local businesses! This is legit a 2-person run restaurant and they crank it out. The woman who takes your order also serves you your food, comes to pick up your plates after you're finished, wipes the tables down, is hilarious and kind, and is all around a gem of a lady. The food is some of the best Mexican food I've found in chicago, which unfortunately is difficult to find, so once you find one you gotta stick to it! I love that this location is right by Lincoln Hall so if you go to a show, you can grab food before and/or after. We got 4 tacos (2 pastor, pollo, asada) and we asked for cilantro and onions with lime on the side instead of all the lettuce cheese tomato stuff. they tastes authentic but you have to get just onions and cilantro or else it's too americanized lol. The salsa is incredible and actually a flavor explosion, thank you Allende!!

Was in recently and ordered the huevos rancheros.I've eaten Mexican food my whole life since I was a baby.Their huevos rancheros were hands down THE WORST huevos rancheros I ever had in my life.No lie.And to make matters worse they only gave me THREE TORTILLAS with my breakfast.WTF!!!?????? I've NEVER been to a Mexican restaurant and only EVER gotten THREE TORTILLAS.EVER!!!! Im Mexican.That alone right there to me is damn near an insult.lol.The place seriously needs to update their decor.With soooooo many good and interesting places to eat in Lincoln Park I won't even consider coming here a second time unless Im out real late at night and am STARVING and out of options.

We are always in the area & biked by the restaurant but on Weds 8/5/2020, we decided to stop in. We bought two Burritos, chicken & pork, the pork was tastier but they were both good. However, we had a jug of water on our bike & asked the lady if she could spare two 2 cups for the water we were carrying. We bought our Burritos to go to eat them in the park. We were not impressed when the lady said $0.25 per styrofoam cup. (not even a plastic cup) We were customers & had bought two meals, to charge a customer per styrofoam cup left a very negative impression! Keep your .50 cents & your business, will continue to bike by & never go back!!

First time trying out this place and have to say the food was actually good but the service was the worst I have been treated in a really long time. Not sure if I just caught the woman taking the orders on a bad night, but the minute I walked in she either did not want me there or she did not want to be there. I placed my order and asked for extra side of verde and she replied "what". I said verde salsa and she replied we only have red. Okay, surprised a Mexican restaurant didn't have verde salsa, first time in all my years living in chicago since I was born. I placed my order and waited, it was slow so was watching the cook do his magic. As he's making my food I noticed he didn't include beans as I ordered. When the very not so friendly lady handed me my order, said here you go. I asked her if the cook remember beans on my order for I didn't see him add it. She replied, well you should have been watching harder. Wow. I'm like okay maybe I missed it. I get home and sure enough no beans. End of day, this woman shouldn't be the first employee a customer should meet if she is going to be that miserable and rude. Food was good, but her attitude is why I wouldn't return. i hope the owners check on how their employees are treating their customers.

Best burrito joint north of the Mississippi. My Uber automatically suggests here after a night out instead of my home. Highly recommend. Workers are awesome.

The food is okay but the service is awful. They're so very rude. The mask thing I understand completely but the way they addressed my friends during close was disgusting..the lady literally took my friend's plate and said we're closing you need to leave. Like it was basically like they took our money and rushed us out. One of the worst customer service ever

Lots of taco joints or "trendy" Mexican places in the area but if you are actually looking for Mexican food this is the best around.

I've never had a bad meal here - uncomplicated but delicious menu, perfect for a quick bite morning or midnight! Nothing fancy but hits the spot when you need it. Service is good and everyone is really nice too. I highly recommend their tacos and tortas!

from a first glance: out visiting a friend in the area and stopped by for some food, had no expectations. from the inside and out, I really liked that it wasn't modern looking I appreciate the look it has but that's just my opinion on that. food-wise: was just craving something small and ordered steak tacos and a coke, the tacos had a homemade taste to it and reminded me of a Mexican family friend and the way she makes food. I was really glad I took a chance here, well cooked and fresh. *note* take it easy on the red hot sauce they offer if you have a very mild tolerance for spice. I'm Latina and grew up on hot sauce so for those who love a good kick, go ahead and be heavy handed. I appreciated it not being thick like a sauce yet not watery like a salsa. service: entering in there was a nice, professional woman who greeted us and let us knew to order down by her register. once we got the order in, she let her cook know and it was out fast and fresh. she then dropped off my coke to the table and later my food, thanked us for coming in and took care of us well. Overall: I would definitely let my friends know about this place, it was clean and attentive service without the high prices or extravagances. just great food at a reasonable price, will be coming again more often!

Craving some greasy Mexican food? This is the spot. Ordered 3 tacos, one of each: Pollo, Carne Asado and Pork. Come with cheese tomato sour cream and lettuce. Unfortunately no guacamole on the menu at all; I didn't ask though. I did ask for spicy salsa/sauce. Which had a gooood kick to it! FYI tacos are $2.20 each and $5 cars minimum
