Alley Taps - Review - Downtown - Nashville - The Infatuation

"From songwriter showcases to individual sets, Alley Taps continually has some of the best voices in the city. Grab a beer and a front row seat to see someone who could at any moment be a superstar, selling out stadiums for hundreds or thousands a ticket rather than the cost of a $4 domestic. The pub itself looks like decks on a wooden ship, and the small size of the space lets the voices soar. Also, it’s just far enough off Broadway to get a breather from the crowds, which makes getting drinks with friends here feel extra intimate." - Ann Walczak

Stopped into Alley Taps while exploring Printer’s Alley in Nashville and had such a great time! The place has that perfect “little dive-esque but super fun” vibe. Very laid-back, yet still full of energy. Despite being busy, the service was incredibly attentive. The bartender was awesome, keeping an eye on everyone, greeting people as soon as they walked up, and making sure no one was overlooked. A really great trait for a bartender, which is becoming rarer nowadays! The drinks were great, the music was jamming, and the whole atmosphere just made it a cool stop. Definitely worth a visit. Plus, there’s a lot of haunted history in this area too, which makes it even more interesting. This actual bar specifically so it was an especially great starting point for our ghost tour!

Google
Alley Taps is an absolute gem tucked away in the heart of Printer’s Alley, one of Nashville’s most historic and vibrant neighborhoods. It was nice to get away from the chaos of Broadway and still get some beers and live music. One of the best things about Alley Taps is that it’s a great escape from the summer heat and busy streets outside. There's plenty of seating and it feels like an old basement dive bar that's been around forever. The live performers here were fantastic. The beer selection is solid too, offering a nice range of local craft brews and classic favorites that pair perfectly with the vibe of the place. Great spot to chill out for a few hours away from the summer heat!

Google
The live music was fun and the bartender quick and friendly with great service. The atmosphere is laid back compared to the busy strip. It is well worth a stop by.

Google
This hidden Gem was pretty nice. The ambiance is what I liked most. We were meeting there to start our Ghost tour and as we waited we had a few drinks and listed to the Band playing and they were really good. We found out they have some paranormal activity that happens there and that was very intriguing. The history in itself was Great .

Google
The band that played last night was great and it’s a pretty cool vibe. BUT the bartender with the long hair is very rude. He told me to wait to cash me out but ended up serving 4 people before he decided to return 20 minutes later. my tab was $32 but somehow the charge on my card is $50. Not the best service and some theft going on?! Not too sure but won’t be back!

Google
I had the best night while I was in Nashville at this place. Nick Cross was playing that night, or as some people call him "The Post Malone from Wish". Whiskey and Beer was typically priced, not jacked up and the atmosphere was total dive bar. The band was awesome but what made the night was their satirical jokes and getting the crowd involved. The cherry on top was the steel guitar player from George Jones's band hitting on my wife at the end of the night. Her and I both got a great laugh out of that.

Jenn B.

Google
Best place in Printers Alley! The live band that plays friday nights is amazing and very versatile! Highly highly recommend! Bartenders are incredible with a great sense of humour and very personable. Will DEFINITELY be back ❤🍻 Thank you all for a great experience!

Google
I love this bar! I just moved here a couple weeks ago, found this place while walking down printers alley. The staff is so friendly, the atmosphere is exactly the dive bar vibe I was looking for. They were so kind to make a pizza for me as well (still paid), but was so good. Cannot recommend more for a late note vibe!!

Yelp
Alley Taps is a fun, classic Nashville bar located in Printers Alley. We stopped in on a Thursday evening. We each had their Nashville cider which was phenomenal. We sat at the front by the stage. We were able to catch a set by Kyle Seitz and a supporting band. Originally we had only planned to stay for a half hour while waiting for another bar open, but the set was so good, we sat there for close to two hours until they finished! The staff at this bar were friendly, prices were reasonable and the music wasn't so loud that you couldn't hear yourself think. The bar wasn't too crowded and it just felt comfortable in here the entire time. 10/10 and better than the bars on Broadway for sure.

Yelp
The bartenders are awesome. The place is cute. Make sure you stop in. I love all the cute little places in printers Alley.

Yelp
Casual spot, very talented live musician playing tonight. Mostly a beer spot but they did have a small selection of spirits too. Service was average. Hard working, but a little standoffish.
google avatar

Yelp
Good music, no cover, fun crowd and a photo booth make this bar an enjoyable spot to grab some beers (and maybe a few shots of Tennessee Fire) and stay awhile when delving into Printer's Alley. Nice to be able to sit either at the bar, small side tables or at bigger seating options in the back for larger groups. All ages were dancing and singing along with the guitarist duo, who generously took requests and played with plenty of gusto.

Yelp
Good live music. Horrible bar service. Wife ordered a pepperoni pizza. They gave her a cheese. Took it back to the bar and the guy says, "we ran out of pepperoni." Huh? So you couldn't say that prior? Then she orders a gin and club soda and the guy makes her a gin and tonic. She lets him know and he shrugs his shoulders. Didn't make her a new one. Unfortunately, she paid for it. If I were up there I would have slid it across back to the jackass.

Yelp
Found this place down a dark alley; heard this incredible music and I had to turn back and wow I found this bar very cool ordered an Old fashion got to keep it classy it's 95 degrees outside by the way. But omg I really love this place. And the drinks are amazing. Once in a while you run into a gem of a place I highly recommend it. Amanda Ray with her band were performing excellent that's what brought me into this establishment.

Yelp
Great lil place in Printers Alley. It's dark inside but has a decent layout. There are some couches in an area on the way towards the restrooms. The bar area had a good seating as well as multiple tables. There was live music but the musician wasn't playing when we arrived and was actually on a long break (in my opinion). Once he did start playing it was pretty good. They had a good selection of beers and whiskeys/bourbons. The bartenders were friendly and we were served right away. I'd check it out again the next time I'm in town. Honestly, there are a lot of places along that alley and all had live music going on. Loved it.

Yelp
First stop in Nashville and we really enjoyed the ambiance, beer and music! Our bartender was attentive. Plenty of TV's to watch the games.
google avatar

Yelp
There's just something about the sound of live music spilling out of a doorway in a Nashville alleyway that puts me in a good mood. Stepping into said doorway and being greeted by the resident bar dog? (I think her name was Lou Anne...) Well that's just the icing on the cake! Alley Taps is not an intimate romantic get away, and isn't a hipster kombucha pub, it's the perfect little Nashville dive bar, just a quiet hole in the wall to go in, have a beer, pet a dog, and have a great time drinking and listening to some good music. One of my favorite stops of the night.
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
With so many place to find food and beverage in Nashville I feel fortunate enough to have stumbled into Alley Taps. The beer selection was almost as inviting as the staff. It'll be a stop at the beginning and end of all of my Nashville trips. (Probably in the middle too.)
google avatar

Yelp
My girlfriend & I were on a weekend trip in Nashville and we really didn't have a set agenda but we knew we wanted to just grab a drink somewhere nice and cool. We stumbled upon Alley tap in Printers Alley. It was a nice vibe and not too busy inside. It'd be super fun to come there on the weekend when it gets a bit more busy, but it was nice for what we were looking for. For the drink we got whiskey cocktails and beers and it was just a fun time. They had some good music, the bartenders were nice and we were able to just sit down and just have a quick drink before we went on our way.

Yelp
Awful..first walk in bartender nowhere to be found..she had to finish her cigarette 2 coors $20.00 really? Never ever going back

Richard S.

Yelp
Came here based on the recommendation of our waitress at a nearby restaurant. Our waitress was great at the other establishment. The bar was not too crowded when we arrived. It did not appear that table service was available so I walked up to the bar to order a drink. I waited several minutes as four bar employees walked back and forth behind the bar, passing me by repeatedly. I noticed that other customers who had walked up to the bar after I did were being provided service. These other patrons had a skin color of a lighter persuasion. It became obvious after several minutes of being ignored that this Hispanic was not going to be waited on, so we left and spent our money elsewhere. This was the first time I have experienced this type of bigotry during three separate trips to Nashville. The Alley Taps staff was obviously not raised well, bless their hearts.

Yelp
The atmosphere was , and the band was fun. It was a bit of an older crowd on the Saturday night we were there, but we were part of the older crowd! Note to self: if you order pizza, make sure it's been freshly made!
google avatar

Phil E.

Yelp
In Printers Alley off the beaten track. Good ole back alley music bar. Door man was good enough to turn the TV's on to the World Series for us. Drinks were good, no food to speak of although they did have a frozen pizza that we ordered only because we were so hungry and just landed.
google avatar

Debra K.

Yelp
Visited here twice, once on Friday night when we started with a fiddle-guitar duo and also heard a classic country band. The next night we also heard a singer-songwriter duo and then ended the night with a most excellent cover band. Really loved the atmosphere and I would highly recommend you seek out this bar-venue in Printer's Alley when you're in Nashville.

Yelp
Head to Alley Taps when you're tired of the chaos of Broadway! We were looking for something quieter than the hustle and bustle of busy Downtown Nashville and we found it in Printers Alley. Mike was friendly and funny and we had fun joking and laughing with him. We'll definitely make this a must every time we are in Nashville!

Yelp
Used to be a hidden gem; now it's robbery. 4 drinks; 76 bucks (Before tip) 2 Margaritas and two bourbon on ice (one was a double; Jack Daniels and not even close to two shots) It made me sad actually because I loved this place when it opened. The Marg was priced 11 bucks for the "well" tequila shot and 6 dollars on top of it to make it a marg. I'm sorry but it's not necessary and sickens me about the price gouging; ruined a great venue.

Yelp
Wifey and I came back for the music and 2-7pm happy hour. The artist are varied but you really get a good cross section of styles, talent and song writing. Alley Taps is a place where you can get a feel for "what it used to be like". Highly recommend.

Yelp
Great dive bar with excellent music! Staff is excellent prices are good. Can't miss this place.

Yelp
Came here last year and loved it. Brought friends back to visit & the security guard was a complete jerk. We are over 50 and he was so rude. Don't waste your time. Too many other places to go

Yelp
After four days of mediocre music and bars, finally, after long last, a local guided me to the Alley Taps. Good beer, great people and awesome music. You'd never know this place exists. It's down the alley and into this hole in the wall. But don't mistake that. This is the best place I've been to in this whole city. Keep on rockin'!
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in Printer's Alley. Thanks, Yelp or I might have walked by and not even noticed this place. We came here twice and saw two really entertaining bands. One night was rock and one was country. This is a smaller place (though with lots of seating) wasn't too crowded at night and had a friendly, low key vibe. You had everyone from bachelorette parties to folks in their 70s and everyone was having a good time. Drink prices were reasonable and it almost felt like (in a good way) you were hanging out in your friend's comfortable basement. Oh yeah, the men's restroom wasn't exactly the cleanest but that's to be expected sometimes in a bar. This place is worth checking out and I'd come here all the time if I lived in Nashville. It's that good.
google avatar

Yelp
Decent little live music venue. We wandered in after hearing the performer walking by a little earlier. That duo (Dairy something...) was really good and we enjoyed sitting there listening. I got a glass of wine, which was nothing to write home about, but that's pretty much what you get at this type of place. Overall, I nice place to duck into during a walk down Printer's Alley

Yelp
I hate to give a little bar a mediocre review, but I wasn't a fan of Alley Taps. A group of us came here after a convention to listen to some live music and enjoy some drinks, and it was just an okay experience. The live bands were great, but pretty much every band playing at any bar in Nashville are talented and fun to listen to. The atmosphere here was relaxed and chill, and there was plenty of seating. The lighting was dark which made the whole place feel intimate and cozy. The problem is that for a place that supposedly specializes in beer, they didn't serve their beer at a proper chilled temperature. Even worse, every beer we ordered was almost completely flat! I even had a glass of sparkling wine to mix things up and it, too, was flat (had about 3 bubbles in it). I can forgive a lot of things but I cannot forgive overpriced, warm, and flat drinks.

Yelp
In a city where most bars are loud, crowded with overserved patrons, and showcasing unoriginal music, this location serves as hope that a true appreciation of Country Music, or music for that matter, still exists. Alley Taps was a welcome refuge from the chaos of modern day Nashville. Small seating venue permits you to sit and enjoy original story tellers and melodic tunes while enjoying your beverage and friends. The crowd was welcoming and homogeneous. The owner was circulating both inside and outside. He has created a great destination bar that was clearly enjoyed by the locals and visitors alike. Another great sign of success.

Yelp
"I LOVE THIS BAR! It's my kinda place...." - Tobey Keith A total hidden gem, the service was awesome! I wish I remember the bartenders name, but he was a total star. The whole vibe of this bar is laid back, relaxed, and fun. We were waiting for a reservation at Puckett's on a Sunday when we decided to check this place out. It was well priced, and great drinks. Best of all after we settled in a band started playing, and they were terrific. I offhandedly asked the bartender if he had any decks of cards we could steal, and lo-and-behold he came up with a deck for us! All around great experience. Will visit again.

Yelp
Lots of great reviews for this place. But I must have gone at a bad time. We went for happy hour and it was buy one get one free, we ordered a double (recommended by our bartender) and it was weak. But still we were looking forward to the food that had mixed reviews. We ordered the nachos, the breadsticks witch cheese, and the buffalo wings. The prices were about right for Nashville, it was $40 for three appetizers and 2 drinks. But we wouldn't spend our money here again. The food was pretty rough, the breadsticks were yummy, but the nachos were from a bag and the sour cream came pre-packaged. The wings were not bad, but definitely nothing to brag about. Basically think of this place as cheap bar food and cheap drinks. The service was interesting. We weren't sure whether to seat ourselves or order at the bar, we found out later that you ordered at the bar. That was all fine until we went to a table and we weren't sure whether they run it over it or not, my husband noticed it had come out and was sitting on the bar for about 5 minutes, so he went up to get it. He was told that they usually run it but we're busy. Overall, I would only come back here to listen to the music or escape broadway for a cheap drink. We weren't able to listen to the music, but the line up looked pretty solid. You can see the line up in the photo I posted.

Yelp
Great spot post dinner! Enjoyed a fun night of Blues with Travis Bowlin and Crooked Eyed Tommy.

Yelp
Cool little bar in Printer's Alley. I went to Alley Taps twice during my stay in Nashville. Great bartenders, a lot of local brews. It seems small but has bar seating, table seating, and a spot near the restrooms with couches and tables. Very clean even though it has a bit of a dive bar feel. Very friendly bartenders, I felt right at home at this joint. I much prefer the bars in Printer's Alley to the neon bohemoths on Broadway. Both nights I went to Alley Taps there was live music. The first night was 2 women and a drummer and they alternated between originals and pop and rock favorites. Second night was a country bad which did the same, but they played more originals. There is no cover charge so be sure to remember the tip bucket on your way out. Both nights had great music and given its location in downtown Nashville, I expected the prices to be higher. Would definitely return on a future trip.

Peter W.

Yelp
Don't walk down the alley way and go to another bar and come back. They will accuse you of being wasted. Also John the bouncer was extremely rude. Been here before and staff is awful and over priced
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
One of Nashville's most unique bar experiences. They have all the live music you crave with none of the touristy blandness. They are located in Palmers Alley and have stone walls that give the impression you're drinking in a cellar. The beer list is ever changing and unique, but let's be real, it's the music that matters. They keep it going 7 days a week, and the lineup is great, including one of the only open mics you'll find in the city. You're sure to find some fun no matter when you visit.
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
A hidden gem, very "locals only" bar - since it's all by itself on the even though it is considered on Printer's Alley. Walk-in with no hastle right into writers night. Local music with beer in hand. This bar has great service and cheap drinks compared to Broadway.
google avatar

Clint C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this bar. On a hot Nashville day, my wife found this jewel in Printers Alley. It almost has a dive bar appeal to it, dark, cool with quite conversations going on. They have separate more intimate area you can sit and be alone and secluded with that special someone. I came back in the evening a few days later and they have song writers playing their own music on stage in a very personal setting. Truly recommend an escape from the summer heat!
google avatar

Dan H.

Yelp
Took a chance in Printer's Alley to get off of Broadway for a little while. This place is quaint and had a decent crowd and pretty good band for Wednesday night. We didn't eat there so I can not give 5 Stars. Good draft beer selection and good service. Take a chance and get off the strip and check this place out on Printer's Alley.
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
Patrick is a great "Monday guy". He's friendly and willing to make something different if you ask. He made the experience worth the visit. It's not the cleanest or most trendy, but it was a good time for a Monday afternoon.
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely an alley and doorway that you would probably not venture through. But you'd miss out on a great little bar with great live music. We saw 4 person acoustic guitar set. Each musician took turns. Very entertaining. Servers, bartender was very pleasant. Drinks are reasonably priced and well made. Serve pizza brought in by the slice otherwise no food here. Fun stop around 7pm on Tuesday.
google avatar

Yelp
The best spot in Nashville!! OMG what a find!!! The best music and not crazy overfilled Broadway St bars. This is a MUST DO in Nashville! As much as Nashville hot chicken!! Bar staff is SUPER friendly!! We saw 4 single acoustic singer songwriters sitting next to each other singing singles... WOW!! And then later these effing guys!!!! Mind Blown!!!! Best entertaining music, drinks and friendly environment!!!!
google avatar

Jennifer P.

Yelp
We came here early on a Saturday night and it was a welcome respite from the shoulder-to-shoulder busy bars of Broadway and other Printer's Alley bars. The theme is a Prohibition-era Speakeasy. They have a really neat little house band that plays good music and dresses in period. The walls of the bar are combination exposed brick and rock, giving you the feel that you're underground. The lighting is low, romantic and charming. I would have loved to see the bartenders dress in period as well! We stayed long enough to have a few beers and listen to the band finish. Definitely a fun spot that we will return to occasionally!
google avatar

Alyson Y.

Yelp
Such a great spot for live music and drinks with friends. It feels spacious and cozy, with lots of areas for groups to sit and still see the stage. Quick service. Good drink selection. Just wish they had more food options! But the food they do have is delicious.
google avatar

Nathan N.

Yelp
Bar crawling and stopped here. Great live music. Service was great. Literally was there for two beers. Definitely a place I will go back to but I wasn't there long enough to really say a ton.

Yelp
Classic nashville dive bar. Sunday bartender is a steelers fan- YAY! But, no Sunday ticket. Lots of refreshing yahoo TV. Not necessarily a bad thing. Steelers not so great this year.

Robert M.

Yelp
Alley Taps is the place to go in Nashville if you want great music, super bartenders , and an excellent environment. Off the Broadway beaten path , it's a perfect place to spend the evening. The music is so good I find it almost impossible to leave until closing. Management are terrific people. Five stars all the way.

Yelp
Last Tuesday before the Predators hockey game my companion and I dropped in and truly enjoyed it. Bartender Maggie, the delightful Irish newcomer, warmly welcomed us in and mixed two lovely drinks for us. She's a Gaelic Darling ! SoundMixer Shane dialed in acoustics and shared interesting tidbits on the establishments history and lore. Soon enough Randy Ray Ross and Cowboy Jim hit the stage knocking out homegrown original country songs. I frickin love these guys. They are both such artists who honor the truth in rhythm and melody. I was sorry to depart but puck drop at Bridgestone Arena was moments away. Go find Printers Alley and once there pop into the Alley Taps, it's well worth the hunt !

Yelp
The dreaded task of bringing out of town visitors to Broadway was upon us. A Saturday evening stroll down the main strip was luckily enough for our group and we managed to escape fairly quickly. After that experience, we were in need of some refreshments. While I must admit that Broadway is not my favorite, I do enjoy a visit to Printer's Alley. We popped into the first place we saw, Alley Taps. It doesn't look like anything special from the outside so I was a little hesitant. But wow! Once we got inside it was pretty awesome. Plenty of space and seating, nice decor, friendly staff. We chose to sit at the bar but the other room had huge leather couches that were awfully tempting. They have a nice beer menu and prices are normal for craft beer. We were too early for the live music, but they have a small stage with bands performing. My advice: step away from the honky-tonks, stroll (or stumble) up to Printer's Alley, and stop into Alley Taps. It's a more laid-back atmosphere which one can really appreciate in all of the chaos.

Yelp
Super chill and a comfortable pub. Great beer selection friendly staff. I sat at the bar where the woman next to me happened to be one of their bartenders just hanging out. We had a great conversation. It was happy hour and $5 pints were on order. The bartender noticed I was busy chatting away, so she took charge and added another pint on my tab before happy hour ended. Pro move and much appreciated. As you'd expect in Nashville, the guy playing guitar and singing was awesome. I guess it says a lot about a place when your people want to be there off the clock. Next time I'm in town I will definitely make another pit stop at Alley Taps.

Yelp
We found a great little bar along printers row and were pleasantly surprised! Beautiful inside. Prices are good and the atmosphere is fantastic. You almost feel like a local the minute you walk in the door. Natalie the bartender was fantastic and we met some really cool people while we were there. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
A hidden gem in the heart of downtown Nashville's historic Printers Alley. They have Guinness on tap and it's a Steelers bar!! (Original owner is from Pittsburgh) The wings are mouth watering and the hot dog on toasted Hawaiian bread will knock your socks off. Great ambiance, friendly bartenders and dozens of craft beers.

Yelp
Great vibe and staff. They always have amazing live music and make you feel right at home on a slow or busy night
