I have been to this location several times now. This time I brought a group assist the students and the coffee shop today. Wonderful job of accommodating everyone. I’ve always loved this coffee shop because of the great decor and great food as well. They have good coffee and desserts and there’s a great place to sit. The cafe is spacious and clean. I make sure to always stop by when I am here.

Google
This place has a great vibe and is very spacious with lots of places to sit. The food was a very fair price and delicious. We had the turkey and fig sandwich and I absolutely loved the flavor combination and it was so fresh. Service was sluggish at best. The coffee tasted like urine and were barely edible which I don’t event understand how they were so bad. I may go back for the food but the coffee is a hard pass.

Came across this cafe while exploring old city and during my first visit tried their cappuccino, which was amazing. Currently one of my favorite brunch places that I try to go once in a while and the place doesn’t disappoint! The food served is in good portions, lots of space and cozy vibes- perfect for hanging out during the weekends.

Google
Almost Home General is a huge coffee shop serving up some delicious food! I heard their wraps are amazing and decided to try the chicken caesar wrap. I’m so glad I did. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and there were CRISPY croutons that added the perfect texture. It was quite messy to eat because the wrap was a little loose so just be prepared. The side salad was also yummy. I got an oreo cookie for something sweet, wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did. I want 100 of them! I loved how big the space was, worked here for a few hours. They had good music playing that wasn’t overly distracting. I’ll absolutely be coming back.

I do not drink coffee and got the lavender love, however the drink tasted very watered down and was not great. My boyfriend enjoyed his cold brew. Service was also quite slow. The food looked very good although we did not get anything. Great place to study/work if you arrive in the morning, fills up by about 11/11:30 on a Saturday. Very spacious tables.

Easy walk from the Peter Pan/Megabus stop and necessary after travel. Great options for food and unique drinks! Always a good place to impressive out of town visitors. Very spacious with great seating and close to old city with plenty of other cute establishments.

Google
extremely overpriced for the quality of food and drinks. staff was not welcoming or helpful. my breakfast bowl had a massive puddle of grease/liquid of sorts. a friend got the biscuits and gravy, legitimately looked like vomit. uses high quality matcha but the drink is watered down with milk. asked for skim milk and yet charged for oat milk. cereal latte was nothing to cry home about.

Google
Cool spot but I’m sure it’s not sanitary to allow dogs in your dining room (or the cafe overall). I understand that people want to take their dogs everywhere but people are eating and not everyone can or wants to eat with a dog nearby if they’re opting for indoor dining. If pets are not allowed then that rule isn’t being enforced. They’re in the cafe, on the couches, and in the dining room. I’ve seen this several times. Please be considerate of customers that might have an allergy to pet hair or simply a preference not to eat around someone’s pet.

Yelp
cute coffee/brunch spot with plenty of seating and good vibes! i absolutely love the energy of this place, it would be such an amazing study date spot with the ample seating and natural lighting. almost home also has a bunch of fun coffee beverages. i've had the purple haze which was fun but a little disappointing and the shaken espresso which was delicious. there are a handful of other drinks i want to try even though it seems that they can be hit or miss. the food is solid as well, but not particularly impressive. i did really enjoy their perfectly crispy hash browns. no complaints of service -- if you're dining in, the staff will bring your food to you. otherwise, you order and pick up at the counter. this spot is definitely a little pricey for what it is, but i still love how cute and bright it is.

Yelp
A gorgeous space in Old City with ample room for working and hanging out. Aesthetically, it's gorgeous with wood interior, a floor to ceiling bookshelf, and ample natural light. Their menu has a broad range of drinks and food. I tried the shaken espresso with oat milk, and it was very good! They poured it into a cute cup for dining in, which I appreciated because it reduced waste. Only downside is cost. This shaken espresso was $6.75 as a base, but with the addition of oat milk, tax, and a tip, it came out to be around $9. For me, that is a bit out of my price range for one coffee, and that seems pretty standard for other coffee drinks on their menu.

Yelp
This was my first time here and I hope to come back soon! Incredibly spacious inside with many seating options, even on a busy Sunday. There are tables for small groups, a large bench section for larger groups, couches by the book wall, and even a cabin inside with a reserved section. I was not expecting so many alcohol options; might have to snag the $8 French 75 next time! Service was okay; I did not know that the drinks would come out before the food and it was hard to find cutlery/napkins/ketchup when needed and didn't find the service to be overly friendly or helpful. Prices as expected but liked some of the more unique seasonal options. I opted for a classic bacon egg and cheese and swapped the mixed greens for home fries (with surcharge). It was very large. I don't usually get 'fancy' coffee drinks because I find them too sweet, but this smoked maple latte was so unique. You could tell it was smoky from just a whiff which was cool; would get again. So much natural light and how could you do anything but stare at that book wall all day?
google avatar

Yelp
Loved this place! During the week, it's quiet in the morning so you can get work done or read. The book wall is so beautiful. Iced coffee was delicious. Must get their French toast muffin - unreal. Also had the breakfast bowl (forgot to take a pic of) and it was great minus the b Brussel sprouts (but I just took those off and ignored them) - Cannot wait to go back and try more.

Yelp
Nice spot! It's big and welcoming. The staff is nice. It's definitely a little pricey for what you get, but the food is pretty decent. The coffee is also good. It's a good place to work at if you want to switch up your scenery.

Yelp
This is the first time I came back to this location after the United By Blue closed. I always loved the space here. With this new coffee house the space is plentiful. There is a little semi enclosed area with tables and chairs. I am guessing it's for some people if they want to get on their work calls, etc. However, this one man taking a call in that space was loud. Took away from a relaxing ambiance. The service here is okay. Not too friendly, but also not rude, but from the customer's perspective not welcoming. We ordered cold brew, and iced Americano, both tasted good. Maybe I will try back and try some of their sandwiches. For now, it was a meh experience.

Yelp
Beautiful location directly below the Ben Franklin bridge, and beautiful decor inside as well. Very photogenic (and dog friendly) spot where many people go to do some work. Many outlets in the restaurant! Order at the register and they'll give you a number to place on the table. Someone will deliver it when your food is ready. For drinks, they'll call your name and you have to pick it up at the barista station. The food was good and they give you a huge amount, but it's also very pricey for what it is. Ordered an espresso martini, the bean, two eggs any style and the Jersey classic. Jersey classic was flavorful but sloppy so be prepared to use a ton of napkins. My two eggs any style were delicious. They have numerous options to choose for your potatoes and I chose the garlic since the cashier suggested it. Very good food, but a bit pricey.

Yelp
Almost Home General Store offers a charming, bustling atmosphere that perfectly blends urban farm vibes with a welcoming, community feel. The café is often busy, but it's well worth the visit for its delicious coffee and tasty food offerings. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast or a quick snack, the menu has something for everyone. The ambiance is cozy and rustic, making it a great spot to relax or meet up with friends. A true gem for coffee lovers and food enthusiasts alike!

Yelp
Great seating areas! Love that their drink menu is extensive. The pastries looked great as well. Beautiful natural light coming in, in fact, they should turn off the lights to save energy. The bookshelf is immaculate. There's also a closed off seating area that mimics a cabin. Great location, its nestled under the Benjamin Franklin bridge, Philly's own Dumbo, Brooklyn! Smoked Salmon Bagel came with 4 boiled eggs which was nice. I do think that $15 is a little too steep. The Dudley is hash brown patties, sunny side eggs and lettuce in a sesame seed bun. It came with a beautiful mixed salad with a vinaigrette. The hash brown could have been made a bit more crispier. Dropping a star because they ran out of espresso...not sure why they couldn't grab espresso beans from another spot nearby. I wanted to try the S'more Latte but will have to come back. They also did not have supplies for half of the "All Day Sandos". There aren't many outlets to charge your laptop/phone.
google avatar

Hannah-Grace H.

Yelp
I came here for the first time with a couple friends and really loved the place! There's tons of seating, though if you're coming to work, there may not be as many outlets for you to charge your laptops in. I got the biscuit sandwich and it was huge, but really good and to drink I got the moon milk (a golden latte that imo was a tad overpriced). And their bookwall!! It's absolutely gorgeous! Shoutout the several different twilight books my friend and I spied. If I still lived in the city, I'd come here all the time on the weekends to work or read.

Yelp
I really wanted to try their beef waygu sandwich- a special I believe, but they were out. I had their smoked latte. Staffer told me iced version would bring out the flame flavor more. It did and I enjoyed my drink a lot. Nothing else stuck out for me but nothing was bad for me. If my eye was caught by something else, I might've gone for it but I have had a lot of food options and such around me. So just the drink was enough for me this time around. One of United Blue's cafes used to be here and the cuisine was similar. I am surprised they didn't survive. Maybe they were doing okay but they felt the profit margin was so small. Hard to say. It is a good location that mainly locals would notice rather than your random tourist passerby. I sometimes casually and non-casually use IG and like some of Almost's pretty food and drink pics and food combos, but I think their main or homebase is in Oceanport and some of the specials or food that stands out for me might be there only. The owner(s) or manager(s) seem to use IG religiously because they care about their reviews and audience. They will respond properly if they feel the need. And there is the additional responses that can be replied to on IG although it can be harder to post remarks that are criticisms on there even if they are properly constructive because of IG security settings and well because people are human.

Yelp
So, let me start of by saying that the interior of this coffee shop is truly well designed and unique. I LOVE the wall of books and there's definitely ample amount of seating. I got a smoked maple latte? I visually saw her smoke it but it didn't actually taste like smoke so I was slightly disappointed lol :(. My friend got the salted caramel latte, there was DEFINITELY a lot of salt. It's almost like someone shaved a salt lamp into it. I really want to try the food but I'll have to try that next time. Nonetheless, the vibes were good and a lot of sunlight. Great aesthetics, great color coordination, great ambiance.

Yelp
So glad Almost Home General is open! Tons of food and drink options (whether you are a coffee drinker of not). The food came out quickly (add tater tots to your order) but I think they were a bit backed up on drinks (about 15-20 minutes). Still relatively new so I get it. The space itself is beautiful and great to go with a few friends or solo (many people were there by themselves with laptops). Looking forward to going back and trying something new!

Yelp
Vegetarian perspective Overall very average. One vegetarian sandwich and it was mostly bread, not much filling. One non-coffee specialty drink option despite a big menu. We got there around 930 on a saturday and the space was filling up but we got a seat. By 10 the space felt full.

Yelp
I saw this place trending on the internet since they just opened a new location here in Philly. My friend and I were enticed by the design and look of the cafe, so we came to check it out. I loved the environment inside and found it very welcoming. It was pretty packed for a 2pm on Monday, and there was a considerable number of people sitting doing work or chatting over food and drink -- There is a lot of available seating. I enjoyed seeing the extensive menu; there are a lot of options and some of the flavors sounded unique. I ended up getting the Philly Special and my friend got the Cereal Latte. Unfortunately, I didn't love either drink and found that the flavors weren't the best. Otherwise, I would've happily given this place 5 stars. I think that that once this place masters the flavors of the drinks, it'll be a go-to spot! The staff was also very friendly which was a plus, and she recommended the Shaken Espresso which is their most popular drink, so I would be interested in trying that next time.

Juan A.

Yelp
Such a nice and bright space to do work! Love the environment and even the "Bored Trading Cafe" shack. Didn't have any food or coffee so I will be back

Yelp
A relatively new brunch / coffee spot that took the space of United by Blue after it closed. The aesthetic is very nice, but I honestly am surprised by how crowded it is whenever I walk by, maybe because the food is better? When we had tried the drinks though, I found them to be very overrated, especially given the other great coffee shops in Old City. Atmosphere: The space itself is very aesthetic with its rainbow-organized shelf of books! They mostly have indoor seating for people staying for brunch, but there is a table for people who get coffee and want to do work too. Drinks: I ordered their special ube latte and immediately regretted it. The texture felt almost chalky to me - I get that most ube lattes use powder, but this just did not taste mixed well. My husband ordered their combination of espresso + chocolate milk and it was not impressive either. It tasted like something we could likely make on our own at home. These two drinks also had a 30+ minute wait time, perhaps because we came in on a crowded Saturday morning. Overall: 2/5 - We may one day try the food, but the drinks did not leave us with a great impression. I would recommend other coffee shops and brunch places over this one in Old City!

Yelp
Love this new spot that opened in Old City! When they say they're known for their shaken espresso, believe them - it's definitely worth it. They also have a nice food menu, and I would love to go back to try more of it. The avocado toast that I had this time though I would also come back for!
google avatar

Raquel G.

Yelp
This place is adorable and cozy. The menu is unique yet the coffee is mediocre. If you want a good post for Instagram, this is your place. Other than that I won't be back.
google avatar

Lydia P.

Yelp
Spacious coffee shop with lots of natural light! I think this is a great place to study- but a few things to keep in mind are that there are limited outlets, it can get quite loud since it's pretty busy, and it closes at 3p. The coffee is good. The cereal latte is a fun twist on a normal latte, and I was told it changes depending on the cereal of the day (or week?). I also liked the shaken espresso. The race street hot chicken sando is delicious. The umami sauce and hot honey just take it to the next level.
google avatar

Alexis L.

Yelp
Please do not eat the food. This might be a good spot just to grab coffee and do your work but that's all. Someone should do a wellness check on the employees, they look like they're being held hostage.
google avatar

Jess D.

Yelp
I was a bit confused by my experience at Almost Home. The decor was cute and the place was packed with people working on laptops but the food was not good at all. The avocado toast was super underwhelming and there was nothing particularly unique or quality about the experience. I hope they get more creative or at least use better ingredients in the future. It's an ok spot if you are looking for a diner but it's priced more like a nicer brunch restaurant. Super busy no matter when you go so be prepared to wait.
google avatar

Lucia M.

Yelp
Wanted to try this place since it looks so cute inside! Great ambiance, but I thought the food/drinks were a little overpriced and there's definitely better in the city. Ordered the egg/cheese sandwich on a Kaiser roll which was good but nothing super special; same for the drinks. Good, but not memorable. Lots of space inside and could be a nice place to work/free wifi.
google avatar

Tanvi G.

Yelp
I've only been once. I got a salted caramel latte extra hot but it was unfortunately luke warm.
google avatar

Binh L.

Yelp
The good: The scrapple sando was so so good. The scrapple wasn't overly salty and the texture was fluffy and delicious. The truffle fondue was complementarily savory and the egg was creamy. No notes - perfect sandwich would eat again. Service was great! It has a fake bookstore meets cafe with a fake house inside vibe lol. The ok: They ran out of tater tots :( The hot fried chicken sandwich is not hot, but it is good. Could have a stronger flavor imo. Almost Home is generous moniker because my home is not that tasty lol. Almost 5 star - would go back.
google avatar

Katie O.

Yelp
Large coffee shop which so having its soft opening. Lots of seating, solid menu, pastries made in house. I asked the cashier about one of the drinks and did didn't know anything about it- a little odd. And the woman delivering food doesn't look thrilled to be working; when someone else asked her a question she kind of just ignore her. Odd but maybe it's been a lot with the soft opening and being so busy. Would definitely go back. Music isn't too loud and they don't seem to mind people just working on their laptops.

Yelp
Where do I even begin with how much I love this place?! First Visit: I had stopped in one afternoon while working from home for some caffeine and ordered the iced Ube matcha with oatmilk. It was delicious when I was first sipping it, however I felt once mixed the flavor sort of dissipated. I think the matcha ratio which didn't hold much flavor to the ube milk was too high. Overall great concept, but the execution needs adjusting. _______ Second Visit: After a frustrating attempt to grab a bite at another restaurant in center city, we dropped into Almost Home midway through a bike ride home to use the restroom and grab a quick drink to go. However, upon seeing the atmosphere for dinner (which I wasn't aware they had) we decided to stay and each ordered a French 75 and the tuna crudo. If there's one thing on a menu I will always try and judge a place by, it's their crudo. I've had many different crudos but this one was very different and offered a flavor profile I hadn't tasted before. The recipe included crispy capers on top which I enjoyed. Chef Nihad was extremely accommodating and obviously dedicated to his craft. While we were eating the crudo he was eager to hear what I thought of the dish. It was easy to say I was a fan. The owner was present and wanted me to try another fish dish but they were sold out of it for the night so Chef asked if I would be open to trying a pasta dish his team was experimenting with. Per chef's recommendation , we also closed out the night each with a hibiscus lemonade vodka cocktail that the barista/bartender expertly crafted. It was so good I questioned if there was alcohol in the drink but I felt it later on. To end on a high note, we each had an affogato: pistachio and a vanilla one for myself since I have a nut allergy (so glad the team was accommodating to my allergy!) and it was one of the best I've had. It was a perfect pick me up to get me through the last leg of my bike ride home on a Saturday night. I'll definitely be back for dinner/caffeine runs in the future. Seems like a great spot to get work done and there's a lot of seating and a cozy library/couch set up. Also love the little detail how like La Colombe they have cold still and sparkling water on tap as well as coffee lids with kind motivating quotes hand written by staff. I recommend stopping in and I even think they are starting up happy hour here soon.

Yelp
Stayed in Airbnb on Emerald that offered a discount. Took coffee to go a few times. Tried a few of the seasonal suggestions. Delightful

Yelp
Poorly managed business. Today was our second time ordering online and show up to a closed store. The first time, they closed early and cancelled our order without notification. The early closing was not posted and was not a holiday. today, New Year's Day, posted hours read OPEN. our order was placed online and we were charged. we again show up to a closed store and a $30 charge with no refund or support.

Yelp
My partner and I stumbled on this coffee shop while walking around Old City, and we loved it! The interior design was super inviting and aesthetically pleasing, and I loved that there were tables as well as comfy couches and chairs to sit in. I got the matcha lemonade, which was the perfect summer drink. It was so refreshing, and they filled it up right to the top, which you don't always see in coffee shops! My partner got the hibiscus lemonade which was delicious as well, but I would definitely recommend the matcha. I would highly recommend Almost Home General for a quick pick me up in Old Town Philadelphia!
google avatar

Varsha S.

Yelp
This is a really spacious and cute coffee shop! I came here with a friend to get some work done and it was a great place to work. The drinks are expensive but they have a really large selection of specialty lattes, and the price is pretty standard given that the drinks are unique. I definitely want to come back here and try more drinks!

Yelp
we stopped by @almosthomegeneral cafe for a quick pick-me-up during our lil morning date to old city. the cafe space is gorgeous (5/5) with a couch-filled lounge area nestled under their rainbow library nook and brightly-lit four-top areas for co-working or catching up with friends. they were packed when we went on a sunday morning! the staff took our orders and even delivered them to the tables that were eating in. We got the purple haze matcha latte ($5.90) and iced coffee. The purple haze (aka ube) flavoring is bright and bold in the drink. This latte is a colorful and refreshing drink for the summer! I love the ube-matcha combo in general for that earthy, hearty type of drink. Maybe it was just the day but the ube chunks and matcha were a bit too large/not mixed well making the drink have a gritty mouth-feel so I'm giving that "matcha" a (3/5). They have two other matcha drinks so I'll try those next.
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place. I really did. The line was very long. There are two registers, but only one was open. I think part of the issue is people don't see the menu until they go to order, so it takes longer than necessary. It was definitely overpriced for what you get. My daughter and I stopped in for brunch. Our bill was $50. For two people. What?! That's crazy. And it's not even a sit down restaurant! I got the scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. The eggs were okay, bacon wasn't great, and the hash browns were the best part of the meal. The toast was dry - no butter or jelly. My daughter got the French Toast and a side of scrambled eggs. The French Toast wasn't good at all. It was so dry. She wouldn't even eat it after the first bite. She liked the scrambled eggs. I love to support local restaurants. But I don't think I can go back to this place because it's just too expensive for what you get. There are many other places that are much more affordable. If I went back it would only be for coffee and pastry.

Yelp
Fun cafe/restaurant. Packed on a Saturday afternoon and positive vibes. The employees seemed really happy; exec chef Nihad was welcoming and focused on customer experience. We had a large party, food did not take too long to come out and it was excellent. Some of the items we ordered were the hot chicken sandwich, salmon bagel, scrapple sandwich, and breakfast sandwich. All piping hot and fantastic flavor. Highly recommend for food and ambiance. The only challenge is seating, it's first come first serve. Luckily we snagged a table by hovering but there are many groups just lounging and some doing stuff on laptops. Once you get a table, then you can hang out.
google avatar

Dawn W.

Yelp
They're currently in a soft opening. The drink was made quickly, it was delicious, and had a fun little message on it, so the drink staff seems to have it together. However, the kitchen seems to be the opposite. The food took forever for a takeout order and was brought out to me on a tray even though it was requested as takeout so I had to wait longer for it to be figured out whether it was mine or not and then boxed. I'm hoping they figure out the kitchen because the place has a great vibe and aesthetic.
google avatar

Shirley R.

Yelp
Got a Old Fashioned Cold Brew which was very good especially with a splash of oat milk in it. The ambiance is really nice, with lots of seating, and refreshing with the large windows. Would definitely recommend dropping in.
google avatar

Lily W.

Yelp
The cereal latte was pretty watered down. I barely taste the cereal or any sweetness. The oat milk absolutely dominated the flavor. Although I got oat milk substituted due to my lactose intolerance, I was disappointed that I could only taste oat milk. The beef shank sandwich is yummy, I would recommend. The avocado toast was a huge disappointment. The bread was so soggy that it could barely bear the weight of the avocados and eggs. I liked that the avocados were very smooth, and the eggs were a good poached egg consistency. The atmosphere of this place caters towards wannabe social media influencers, but it has good lighting. Once the crowd dies down this place could be decent for working at.

Yelp
Love this place! Was staying down the street for a couple days and this was my go to breakfast spot. Food was great, they have healthy and yummy options. I had the cheesesteak one day and the egg platter the next, I love a breakfast salad. Oh and hipsters don't mess around with their coffee I got the cold brew it was nice and strong just how I like it

Molly N.

Yelp
We came in on our walk and bought stuff. While we sat down we were offered a mimosa and a coffee that got left out and the workers were super nice!!
google avatar

Neil S.

Yelp
The coffee and ambience of this place is stellar, great place to grab coffee and and do work or study but the food is quite the polar opposite. I bought food here twice and it is not cheap by any means and both times the quality of the food has been as if it's was made two days ago. I waited 25 minutes for a breakfast sandwich after my shift and when I got home to eat it, it was stale, lacked seasoning and was dry. The quality of the food needs a massive overhaul, which worries me because it is a brand new place and for that I have to knock down two stars.

Forrest R.

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place when I stopped in on a Saturday but was immediately met with a painfully backed up line for ordering both food and drink. The drink I ordered was well-crafted and flavorful but wouldn't beat out anything else made at similar cafes in the area. The turnaround time for food was dissatisfying bordering on unacceptable when paired with the reception from the service staff. We were told the wait was running over an hour when we checked in after a while on what we thought was a premade sandwich. After checking in a second time, we were told we had been given a table number for some reason but should have been handed the sandwich at the counter initially. Oops? The decor is actually pretty awesome and the ambiance is nice once the place isn't packed to the walls but I wasn't impressed enough to think about giving this place a second chance. That elusive sandwich was also so dry it felt like a punishment to eat.

Ben G.

Yelp
Great coffee very kind staff. I work nearby and love stopping by if I am in a rush. Enjoyed the sandwich but will stick to cafe items for the most part in future visits. Caps on the cups are super cute!

Erin M.

Yelp
Such a cool spot with plenty of seating! All of the workers are so nice and patient while explaining the menu! So many unique options plus a lot of well executed basics! We will be back :)

G P.

Yelp
Everyone, who could have greeted us from the counter, were sleep walking. No hello, no we'll be right with you. So sleepy that we walked out after 5 mins without anyone noticing. Wanted to try a breakfast sandwich and coffee, didn't want to beg for service.

Katelyn H.

Yelp
Have been waiting for this place to open up and I'm so glad they are in the neighborhood! I got the cheesesteak sandwich and omg so fresh and flavorful. I also got the truffle fries which were a huge portion and tasted the truffle and cheese flavor strongly as it should be. They are in their soft opening phase but killing it IMO. Friendly fast service with a fairly large variety menu.

Rosie I.

Yelp
Painfully m-m-m-mid. I ordered the smoked salmon bagel and the bagel tasted stale. Furthermore, my friend ordered the avacado toast which was absolutely drenched in crunchy sea salt. Not surprisingly, the croissants tasted stale and store bought as well. This cafe focuses more on the "aestheticness" of their location rather than the actual quality of their food. Do not come here to do your work, it's not the food poisoning. Typical capitalist overpriced bs cafe thats marketed for its aesthetic
