San Francisco’s Best Power Lunch Restaurants | Eater SF

"While the Embarcadero is home to power lunch stalwarts like La Mar and Waterbar, the newer Alora just might be the most compelling option at the moment. In addition to looking especially pretty in the daytime light — the design is a highlight — it offers a light and interesting menu of colorful dips, mezze, and more, which is easily shareable and can be enjoyed as a group." - Flora Tsapovsky

The Best Restaurants on San Francisco’s Embarcadero | Eater SF

"Vikram and Anu Bhambri, the team behind ROOH and Pippal, opened this glitzy waterfront restaurant in January 2024. The hummus is light and creamy, and the eggplant dip is spicy and hardy if you’re looking for a lighter option. Mushroom dolmas arrive warm with a refreshing tzatziki, while the octopus is tender and fresh with a pleasant dill sauce." - Eater Staff

I was excited to see a new Mediterranean restaurant with great ambience pop up in city center. The outdoor seating area as well as interior decor looks great. I ordered the Brussels sprouts and they were delicious. I also had the muhamara which tasted amazing but with a funny finish. I'm not sure if that's the molasses or date syrup? The service was excellent!! She was very sweet. The I also loves the fried eggplant and the shrimp salad. The fish was cooked well but the couscous was not as good as I expected. The meatballs were my least favorite and the baklava was home made recommend by our server and excellent!!

Service, food, location, atmosphere -- 5/5! Our experience at Alora was great! Yelp Elite Dario O. and I were in the area and I was craving Mediterranean food and Alora Social popped up on Yelp. Although, they are Mediterranean-style eats, we still really enjoyed everything. I made a reservation for 12:15 but arrived by 12:30 (thank you Alora for still taking us in). Thankfully, it wasn't as busy for a Friday lunch so we were seated right away. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with bright colors that really open up the space. They have seating indoors and outdoors. They also have a cafe starting at 8am! I regret not trying anything from their cafe because the menu sounded amazing! They also have a vast selection of wine bottles for purchase. Unless it's for wine tasting? Honestly, I didn't look much into it. I just saw a wall of wine and thought, "wow!" Once we ordered, food came out in a timely matter. Portion sizes are shareable for at least 2 mouths and in my opinion, inexpensive. Definitely quality AND quantity! Each dish lived up to its name and what's expected of it. Everything tasted fresh, tender, very well seasoned/ marinated. We ordered: - Kale Salad + Shrimp (This one's my fave! The kale was crunchy and fresh. I loved the chickpeas and tangerines(?) added in the salad. It was dressed so well that every bite did not disappoint!) - Salmon (the walnut crust is a great idea! It adds so much texture to the tender salmon) - fried burrata (the focaccia was buttery, airy, crisp and a perfect pair with the burrata!) - fried (omg, these were perfect! We loved the airy-ness yet crisp and tenderness from the fried. They're Greek Tavern style fries tossed with lemon, garlic, parsley, oregano. The sauces it came with, 10/10!) - frutti di mare (honestly my least fave, but it was still tasty. A bit spicy but the noodles were tender and you get a good amount of noodles and seafood.) Overall, I'd 100% come back here for lunch and/or dinner! They also have happy hour daily. Big thanks to our waiter, Caesar, for his hospitality and making sure my family and I were taken good care of!

I was excited to see that Alora opened a new location, as I’ve enjoyed their food at their other spots before. This new restaurant definitely lives up to the high standards they’ve set! The menu offers a great selection of Mediterranean dishes, and I really appreciate their variety of vegetarian options. I tried Dip Sampler and was impressed by the fresh ingredients and bold flavors. The Kumpir - Baked Potato was especially delicious, perfectly seasoned. The ambiance is welcoming, with a modern yet cozy feel, and the staff was friendly and attentive. It’s great to see a place that puts so much care into both the food and the dining experience. If you’re looking for flavorful, high-quality Mediterranean food—especially if you’re vegetarian—this is definitely a spot to check out! I’ll be back soon.

Been waiting for something to come back to this corner of City Center. I went for lunch with some friends and had a very mixed experience. The food itself was seasoned well and flavorful, but the portions were extremely small, especially for the prices. Even with the sampler appetizer that we shared and my kebab entree, I left hungry. The service itself was inattentive. We were there during late lunch so it wasn’t busy at all. There were only a handful of other tables but it still took the server 15 minutes to come by to take our order. We watched him spend more time chatting with fellow coworkers than checking in with his tables, all of whom seemed to be waiting for him to come by. Also to note, our sampler appetizer came fairly quickly but our entrees took about 25 minutes to come. It’s a new restaurant so I understand that it may take a while to get their groove, so I will likely wait a few months at the earliest to come back when they get their service more consistent.

I’ve always loved Mediterranean food, so I was excited to try this place. I ordered the Alora sampler, chicken souvlaki, and the seafood pasta. All of them were honestly really good—but I do think the prices could be better. Food: The Alora sampler was $47. It came with a bunch of dips and everything tasted great—I’d definitely order it again. But $47 feels a bit steep. If it were around $37, I think more people would go for it, because it’s worth it at that price point. The chicken souvlaki was also really good, but it came with just one skewer, which felt kind of minimal for the price. Their seafood pasta (frutti di mare) was also solid—flavorful and well-balanced. Service: The server was nice and trying to be attentive, but the restaurant was pretty empty, and she kept coming over to check in—like every few minutes. It started feeling a little much, maybe just because there wasn’t much else going on. Surcharge: They added a 3% “health and wellness” charge for employees, which caught me off guard. I’ve never seen that before, and honestly, it made me a little less inclined to leave a big tip. It just feels like something that should be included in the price, not tacked on. Overall: Great vibe, great food, but definitely on the pricey side—and that extra 3% charge doesn’t sit well. I would give him 5 stars if they were just a little cheaper without the surcharge.

Google
Ambiance and Service Alora Social, the newest addition to the Bishop Ranch community in San Ramon, offers a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for family gatherings and casual dining. The restaurant's design captures the essence of Mediterranean charm, creating a cozy setting that immediately makes you feel at home. However, during our visit, we encountered a minor hiccup: our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu, which is understandable given the restaurant's recent opening. Despite this, the staff were friendly and eager to assist, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Food Highlights Fried Burrata with Fresh Focaccia The Fried Burrata was a delightful surprise, served with a side of freshly baked focaccia. The crispy exterior of the burrata gave way to a creamy, rich interior, perfectly complemented by the warm, soft focaccia. The combination was a match made in heaven, with the focaccia adding a delightful texture and freshness to each bite. It was a perfect blend of flavors and textures that left us wanting more. Alora Sampler The Alora Sampler is a great way to explore the diverse flavors of the Mediterranean. It includes a variety of dips and small plates, each showcasing a different aspect of the region's cuisine. The sampler is ideal for those looking to experience a bit of everything Alora has to offer. Frutta di Mare The Frutta di Mare, a seafood-forward pasta dish, was another standout. The combination of fresh seafood with a rich, tomato-based sauce created a hearty and satisfying meal. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the seafood was generously portioned, making it a great choice for seafood enthusiasts. Overall, Alora Social in San Ramon offers a promising dining experience with its casual yet inviting atmosphere and delicious Mediterranean-inspired dishes. While there may be some initial issues with menu knowledge, the staff's enthusiasm and the quality of the food make it well worth a visit. As the restaurant settles into its new home, it's likely to become a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

Their starters are great. Get the focaccia or the pita bread, not the lavash. The pasta was ok (we tried the reginette butter pasta and the colone pompei).

Yelp
My husband had dined at Alora with some friends last week, and he came home raving about the experience. I had told him I wasn't interested in eating there, based on the menu I had seen when it first opened. But we were looking for a meal close to home- and since there aren't many great choices in SR, I said, "Sure, let's go if you think that it was that great." Well, he wasn't wrong. The space is inviting and comfortable, the staff were all genuinely friendly, and the service was excellent. Our food arrived promptly and the menu was far more expansive than what I had previously seen online. We shared the Kumpir, a Turkish streetcar- style- twice baked potato filled with butter, tulum cheese, corn, cabbage and a delicious sauce. The flavors were rich and layered without being too overwhelming. Delicious! We also shared the Ladolemono Chicken Souvlaki, a Greek-style lemon chicken with rice pilaf, cucumber salad and a side of tzatziki. No dried out chicken here! My only critique was that the side of tzatziki was a bit too large for the plate. That minor detail aside, I can honestly say this is the best restaurant I've eaten at in this valley in years. I'll definitely be back and I wish them much success.

Yelp
Just tried this place for the first time and it was a wonderful experience! The service was great and super attentive. We chose our own seat outside. We came on a Saturday afternoon during happy hour. The drinks were okay ( we got the sangrias). We got the hummus ( the most amazing hummus I've had) the brussel sprouts ( legit the best ones I've ever had cause it was a new unique flavor) and the spanakopita ( also amazing!) Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday lunch with the boo. We were seated right away and given ample time to peruse the menu. The ambiance was great. Bright lighting with the windows, very hip atmosphere. Ordered the moutabal, octopus souvlaki, and colone Pompeii. The moutabal was very flavorful, a bit on the salty side for me. The octopus souvlaki was a hit. Super tender octopus with a delicious tomato based sauce. The pasta was also delicious. I'd have like it slightly more al dente, but overall excellent sauciness! All in all a great first experience. Will have to come back to try more!

Yelp
They are now offering a kids menu and have high chairs available. Kids menu salmon with rice was the perfect portion for my 1 year old. We have enough for leftovers for his next meal. For $15 your child can get a drink , a high quality meal and ice cream. We are adding this spot to our dinner rotation.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on Father's Day without a reservation, and had no problem being seated. The restaurant was about 60-70% full. They are located where Chow was. It's nice inside with seating, a bar, and a small market/cafe. There's also a nice patio dining area outside, and today there was live guitar music. We enjoyed our food, and the service was good too. However, it's a bit pricey for casual Mediterranean food. What we ordered: + Kale with green tahini salad with ladolemono chicken - good salad and the ladolemono chicken kebabs were really tender and juicy, but $30 for a lunch salad is a bit much. + Pita pocket with ladolemono chicken - for a side, you get a choice of fries or salad. The salad was crispy and fresh, and the pita pocket was very good. There's a market/coffee cafe inside that's pretty small and not entirely stocked, but there's some drinks, chips, and lunch meats, like salami. There's also a dessert case with a few premade desserts. Overall, come here for the food, but be ready to pay a little extra.

Yelp
I've been wanting to take the family here after I went for lunch. Ordered the octopus again with the tahini hummus to share. Every bite followed a "Ohmygodthisissogood." Trust me. It really is. The tender octopus, smokey flavors, accompanied by the potatoes and sausage it was just the perfect pairing. DD ordered the fried burrata bc she loves all things fried AND burrata. Lots of flavors. Chili oil gave it a bit of a kick. Not sure if this dish was supposed to be HOT HOT but it was warm and delicious still spread of grilled foccacia bread. Yummy. This time I saved room for dessert. Something light and sweet to finish the meal. Decided on the soft serve and lemme tell ya; This wasn't your typical, overly sweet, run of the mill ice cream here. It was so full of pure flavors, vanilla or honey, that made you want to take another bite even though you said "Just one." Next time, will have to try the cheesecake.

Yelp
I'd say I'm at about a 3.8 on Alora Social. Walking in we were seated at their large comfortable patio. For me live music is frequently a negative and although I enjoyed their singer, overall I think I would have preferred no music since I like to be able to chat during my meal. Food wise, we enjoyed the complex flavor profile of the pea hummus with fried lavash bread ($16), the buttery side of potatoes ($12), the flavorful chicken wings ($18), as well as the apricot-rose refreshers ($7) and full bodied Sangria ($13). But two of our dishes weren't a hit - the Kumpir ($22) (a stuffed baked potato with sujuk) wasn't that flavorful, and the brussels sprouts ($15) were over fried with too much vinegar. Price wise, you're absolutely paying for the location with everything being about 2-5 dollars above norm and the service was friendly, but not practiced or smooth. Overall, we enjoyed our meal, but at the end of the day we prefer Sipeos in Walnut Creek.

Yelp
Great new addition to City Center Bishop Ranch. I enjoyed most of the dishes we had, the service was attentive throughout, and there was even live music when I visited on a Saturday. Out of everything we tried, the octopus souvlaki, kumpir, and sigara borek were my favorites. I would order these three shareable plates again if I were to visit again. They are also great portions for sharing with 2-3 people. The lamb agnolotti and fattoush salads were a bit underwhelming for me. The presentation of the mocktails were great as well, but thought they could all use more flavor.

Yelp
Amazing food. One of the best Mediterranean fare but also easily one of the very expensive for a casual setting. Some vegetarian options too. Large portions and a very expansive area to sit in. Service was warm and prompt. Overall a great casual place for upscale lunches and dinners.

Yelp
This is a fun restaurant in San Ramon. Tonight we had the fried burrata. The crunchy case and tasty fox is made this appetizer great. We had a special Mary's chicken tonight with veggies and rice pilaf. The chicken was nicely flavored. With the strong flavors on the chicken we wish the rice pilaf and veggies were more bland. All tasted very similar and over the top. A nice flavor contrast adds a lot of intrigue menu choices. Our server was a true gem. She stopped by regularly to check in without being overbearing. The restaurant ambiance is open, airy and nicely decorated. Note: the server and kitchen stated most of the menu is Halal.

Yelp
Great outdoor patio eating area with lots of shade. Great fast service. Food was not only delicious but esthetically pleasing. The hummus looked too pretty to eat.

Yelp
Alora looks nice but the food and service do not live up to the ambiance or price point. It's a 2.5 that I bumped up because they may still be working out the kinks. My entree salad was an overpriced bowl of unmassaged kale with a few slivers of apricot, completely devoid of flavor. I later realized that it was missing several components, including the chickpeas and the green goddess dressing. My husband's kebab was marginally better but a bit rubbery and strangely bland too. Happy hour apps were the best part of the meal -- spanikopita was tasty and hummus was good, if not memorable. Service was spotty at best and unprofessional at worst. Maybe it was an off night, so I'd return if someone else invited me but wouldn't go back of my own accord.

Yelp
Alora is a large, Mediterranean restaurant offering up cuisine inspired by Turkey, Italy, Greece, and Morocco. So yes, expect lots of grilled kebabs, pastas, and innovative bread and dips. It takes over the huge spot previously occupied by Chow. So the restaurant is huge with bright lights, a few indoor trees, huge central bar, and tons of indoor and outdoor seating. We came here for lunch and enjoyed the food and service. They don't offer booster seats for toddlers, and their kids menu just seemed like smaller portions of the adult menu. They also forgot about the free frozen yogurt, so -1 star. Some dishes were great: 1. Zaatar Walnut Crusted Salmon is a winner - perfectly juicy salmon underneath that wonderful crispy crust. Our 4yo took a few bites and actually loved this dish more than his Chicken rice plate. 2. Chicken Wings were also perfectly cooked and juicy, and it was a spectacle to see our server unload all those wings out this gigantic skewer. Thought I was at Fogo De Chao for a moment. Good, not great Dishes: 1. Octopus Souvlaki was tender and food but I agree with other Yelpers portions were a bit small since it was all served on a skewer with potatoes and salad as filler 2. Kid's Menu Item: Lemon Chicken Thighs.. Chicken was moist and juicy, but our son wS not a fan of the rice. Brown basmati rice with some chopped nuts and noodle-like things. For adults this is perfectly fine, but our son likes classic basmati rice with saffron or turmeric like they offer in most Greek/Persian/Afghan places 3. The Pita bread was crispy and pillowy, though most customers around us favored the crispier Lavash bread, which is better for dips. They offer a nice red peppery, candied walnut dip that was spicy and sweet, similar to Mexican Mole. I would definitely consider coming back, but perhaps as solo workweek lunch or maybe a lunch date with the wife.

Yelp
Came here twice in a week! Once with friends and once on company dinner. Good Mediterranean food in city center. I love love the vongole, it was really good with the bread, fresh and tasty. Will be back for sure. The walnut crusted salmon was also good. We tried the sampler plate but I am not a big fan.

Yelp
Lovely big restaurant with a fresh Mediterranean feel. The big open windows make for easy car and people watching. Overall this is a great lunch spot for families! We came here on the weekend for lunch and service was friendly. We had to ask for more water and they apologized for not refilling us sooner. We had an almost 4 year old with us and she got the butter noodles for lunch and ate the whole thing. She also loved the kids lemonade and ice cream. We also had an almost 2 month old with us, so I appreciated that the volume inside was comfortable and the bathroom has a diaper changing station. Bathroom is also spacious and clean. Loved the pea hummus and pita. The seafood pasta was yummy and had just right level of spice (would get again). The salmon was cooked perfectly though the flavor was forgettable.

Yelp
Alora has expanded from its original location on the Embarcadero in SF to the modern shipping complex of City Center Bishop Ranch, and coastal Mediterranean flavors are on full display! My favorite dish by far was the Alora Sampler, a huge platter of various dips and mezzes. The sampler came with tahini hummus topped with crispy chickpeas; a seasonal spring pea hummus; moutabql; tzatziki; and muhammara, along with raw & pickled vegetables, crispy sheets of za'atar lavash crackers, and a hot round of freshly-baked pita bread for dipping! The sampler also came with two dolmas stuffed with rice and mushrooms, and two sigara boreks, crispy rolled pastries with a filling of spinach and feta. What a colorful and delicious assortment of flavors and textures! Next, the Kale with Green Tahini was a salad of chopped lacinato kale, orange wedges, crispy chickpeas, radishes, and quinoa, all tossed in a green goddess tahini dressing. The Eggplant entree was a creamy half roasted eggplant dressed with onion caramel, spiced labneh, king trumpet mushrooms, and pangrattato (toasted breadcrumbs), served over a smokey puree made of charred eggplant. But my favorite main dish was the Octopus Souvlaki, two metal skewers of alternating chopped octopus, sliced Spanish chorizo, and golden potato slices, all served over a tomatoey, nutty romesco sauce. Overall, the food here was creative, beautifully-presented, and made of quality ingredients. The prices were rather high for the portion sizes, but the atmosphere and service at this new restaurant were top-notch!

Yelp
This place! My new fav at the city center. Only wishing licking my plate after was considered a compliment. Finally, a good new restaraunt at the lot. Lots of healthy choices too! A super plus was our waitress Jasmine. Shout out to stellar service!

Yelp
We walked in for a weekend lunch a couple months ago when Alora just opened and were quickly seated and given timely service. Between 2 people, we shared the sampler platter and the octopus souvalki. The platter had great dips- we loved the tzaziki, eggplant, and bell pepper dip. I honestly didn't care for any of the breads or dolma and would order the dips a la carte with crudite next time instead. The octopus was phenomenal. Extremely well cooked and the red pepper paste was so, so good. Would definitely recommend the octopus.

Fareha I.

Yelp
Went for lunch today. The service was extremely poor. Food was average at best. Tried the octopus which was burnt. The 2 stars are only because the ambiance is nice for sure!

Yelp
Anyone rating this place poorly is nuts. Food is fantastic. Get the focaccia and the muhammara!

Yelp
Went for lunch and they offered their limited lunch menu and dinner menu. Everything was delicious! We selected the creamy fried burrata and yummy hummus with crunchy garbanzo beans and lavash crackers. We selected a lunch item chicken gyro - good pita bread and tzatziki. I also enjoyed a strawberry cream soda. Generous portions so we are glad we shared everything. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Alora!!! So glad you guys finally opened. I've been eyeing you. lol I've been back 3x already. This means the food is delicious and the drinks too. Loving the coastal Mediterranean experience, the freshness and vibrant colors in all of the dishes. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and they put a lot of love going into each dish that is served. What I have order so far on the menu: Octopus - flavorful, tender, and is my favorite by far. Chicken wings - hot off the fire. Muhammara Hummus - my favorite hummus. Pairs with the lavish Kofte meatballs- ok, could be better and the size of the meatball can be a little bit bigger as well. Cozze mussels- love the flavors and freshness of the mussels. Order focaccia bread to dip the broth. Alora sampler- wonderful, vibrant sampler of all the hummus to try and their house made pickled veggies. Perfect!!! A must try and to share with all. Drinks: Sangria Margarita Alora spritz Another drink that I can't remember. (mezcal and a dried apricot in it as garnish) Btw our server Madison has been great the past two visits. She is friendly, takes notice of things, and attentive. All great things in what a wonderful service should be. As of today 4/8/25 they updated their HH menu. I enjoyed their past HH selection vs. what they had. I understand they're still working out the kinks on the menu and selection of things offered on HH. We didn't get anything on the HH menu bc it didn't appeal to us. Which was a bummer. I really enjoyed what they had offered last week. I will continue to come and dine at Alora and try other dishes on their menu.

Yelp
This place was so great! I love how open and light the dining room is. The staff was very nice and professional. We started with the hummus. It was so well balanced and the pita came piping hot (so be careful!). For my main dish, I got the salmon. It was absolutely delicious! The fish was perfectly cooked that I devoured it quickly. I would happily come back to try more items on their menu.

Yelp
I tried Alora Social again for an early dinner after a walk at nearby Lake Annabel in San Ramon. The salads were fantastic! The salmon was perfectly cooked with crispy edges. The dressing was fresh and creamy with a good bit of dill. All vegetables were peak perfection. The Alora Spritzes we had were delicious. The restaurant is really pretty, airy and floral but somehow also modern.

Yelp
Perfect addition to Bishop Ranch City Center! My husband and I have been waiting for someone to snatch the corner of this lot and Alora is perfect for this location. I made reservations last night for myself and my in-laws. We were greeted with a smile and seated right away. The ambiance and the overall look of the inside is fantastic. Our waitress was amazing - checked in often, gave us the rundown of the menu with detail, offered her suggestions, and let us know that everything is made in house (bonus!) We ordered pita with dip (I can't remember what it was exactly, but it had pomegranate seeds and pomegranate molasses - 10/10!) Salmon - 10/10 Chicken souvlaki - 10/10 Kebab - 10/10. The kebab came with a garlic butter cream thing and omg it was amazing. We ended up swapping plates to get a taste of each dish and all was amazing. Plating was appealing, portions were just right, and flavors are phenomenal. Hats off to the chef! Of course, we ended the night with baklava and a side of soft serve ice cream, both 10/10 (duh). Food was so good I only got pics of the menu and my kebab haha. We will definitely be back!!

Beautiful setting, impeccable service from Nancy, really tasty foods. The non- alcoholic drinks were so awesome. Sat under a tree on a relaxing patio for lunch during the week. Looking forward to going back.

Alora Social is a gorgeous space - elegant and airy, though maybe too spacious, which made the atmosphere feel a bit impersonal at times. Service was attentive and friendly, even if not the most knowledgeable about the menu. The mezze sampler was a visual standout, truly beautiful, but the flavors didn't quite match the presentation. Each dish seemed like it was close to great but slightly missed the mark, and overall the food was quite salty. I don't mind small portions, but these were tiny! We're talking maybe two tablespoons, including the hummus, which unfortunately wasn't memorable. The za'atar crackers were flavorful and satisfying, but they were served in an unlined wood caddy that didn't look dishwasher safe... kind of an odd choice for food service and a bit of a red flag. I came in really wanting to love this place, something like Oren's Hummus or Dishdash if you're familiar with those South Bay staples, but it didn't quite land for me. Still, there's enough promise here that I'd consider coming back in a year to see how things have evolved. Four stars because the experience had strong points, even if the food didn't quite get there.

Yelp
Fried buratta and interior decor were both great. The rest of the food for the price was mediocre and then service took too long at the end. The drinks were only alright too. Not sure if I'd come back.

Yelp
Great location, good service and decent food but didn't quite hit in terms of ambiance and flavor. Apart of the bishop ranch shopping complex on the ground floor corner lot, Alora is a fairly new welcome Mediterranean spot. It's attached to a market on one side. The food is presented very well on the menu and plates beautifully. The only thing is - majority of it totally misses the point. The flavor and freshness of Mediterranean food just aren't present. Hope they improve because it's a much welcome addition to a sweet location that has major potential!

Yelp
04/30/25: Lunch date with my Honey! It was a beautiful day so we sat outside under the trees. Our server, Nancy, was amazing! So friendly and welcoming; she made some great suggestions since this was our first time here. We ordered two mocktails ("Zero Proof"): the Arabian Storm and the Mediterranean Punch. Both were cool and refreshing! Perfect for the warm Spring day! My husband had the Adobo Shrimp Pincho and I had the Octopus Souvlaki. Both dishes were absolutely delicious! We'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
More like 3.5 stars but I rounded down. This place has potential but could use some improving. I know they just opened so they have time to get the kinks worked out and overall the food was probably more "good" than just "ok." PARKING - park in the structure and walk along the side past Roam and you'll see the restaurant on the left. No issues for us. ATMOSPHERE - it took over for Chow's and the inside looks similar but a few updates here and there. It's very open and I like that they have the fire pits outside and in the middle and the bar on one side with a semi-open kitchen. We made reservations for a group of 8 with 2 toddlers and had no issues on a Sunday night. They were accommodating with our group. FOOD - they do have a kids menu, which I should have taken a picture of to show what's available but it's a good deal for $10. Their food is a mix of mediterranean countries like Italy, Greece etc. so you'll see pastas as well as things like pita and rice pilaf. KIDS MENU - they have pasta with either tomato sauce or butter and cheese, their chicken souvlaki or salmon. It also comes with soda/drink and frozen ice cream/soft serve at the end. I think for $10 it's a pretty good deal given the quality and amount of food. The amount of "juice" they give you is good too, my son got apple and it seemed almost fresh or thicker than just a boxed apple juice. They give it to you in a cup with lid and straw. They also have lemonade and coke or sprite available. PASTA - got the bucatini with butter and cheese, kids liked it. CHICKEN - handful of chicken thigh pieces, pretty tender and rice pilaf under with roasted/soft carrots. It was a good meal for kids. ICE CREAM - one of the highlights, they have vanilla and chocolate and it had an icy texture which I like. It actually reminded me a bit of soup plantation/sweet tomatoes soft serve. The chocolate was better than vanilla. ADONA KABOB - meat was a little spicy but it was tender and flavorful. I wish they had more rice pilaf and the lentils in the pilaf were a little hard but overall good. The portions are a bit small in my opinion. ALORA SAMPLER - 5 or so dips and some other side items plus one big pita in the middle. For our group we needed to order extra bread to go with it. For some reason the extra pita we ordered wasn't as good or didn't look as puffy and good as the one that came with the sampler. It would help to have a copy of the menu so you know what dips there are. We had to ask the server and person serving the food twice and still were confused. We asked what some of the ingredients were and they were stumped. I'm sure this just comes with time to have them become more familiar with the menu and ingredients. It was tasty though and our entire table enjoyed it. LAVASH - this isn't like other lavash I've had its more like a cracker with zatar seasoning on top. It was good though and the kids really liked it. Good flavor. AGNOLOTTI - pasta was decent, a little on the hard side not as chewy as I would have liked. Portions small like I mentioned before and not mind blowing. Maybe could have been skipped. Overall, I think the servers just need to get to know the menu better. There was one dish forgotten (extra pita) but they brought it back out quickly. A misunderstanding on what kind of pasta I wanted for the kids dish (they have two options). They were able to accomodate my sister who has a dairy allergy so that was nice. Also despite pointing out what each person would order when the servers came to give us the food it seemed like they didn't know where things went. It would help if they knew so it's not a juggling act of trying to figure out where the food goes. The kids enjoyed their meals so I can't complain. Overall, again some of the food was good, some of it OK but there still is room for improvement but perhaps it will come with time as they get more experience.

Yelp
Delicious!! Breads are all made in house, the food is so fresh, I love all the fresh herbs and citrus they use. Everything is beautiful, the food, the cocktails, the atmosphere, all the way down to the glassware. Really enjoyed my time there, can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Came here as a walk in on a Saturday and luckily got seated without reservations. Staff was accommodating and very kind, giving us two options of what would work best. We chose to sit outside and they had heat lamps and pretty nice outdoor seating. The food itself is pricy for sure, but it is good! We got the dip platter and it was 39 bucks-expensive lol but the dips were good as was the lavash and pita. We also got the wings which were yummy. Small portion size to price ratio. Overall, the staff was really nice and the food was good. The space is very big so maybe pricing has to match to help cover the rent? Either way, it was good and I'll likely be back!

Yelp
We were here this past Sunday & enjoyed lunch w/ our friends their first outing w/ baby since he was born. The food & service were both outstanding !!! Fernando was very friendly & attentive & repeated order back after we ordered . We started off w/ Moutabal & Muhammara both these dips were phenomenal, loved the crunchy lavash more like a cracker . My husband had the tenderloin Shashlik. & I had the Wedge salad which actually looked too pretty to eat . Both were plated beautifully & clean . The tenderloin was a perfect medium & the roasted asparagus & couscous paired well with tenderloin. My wedge too pretty to eat was delicious & the right amount of dressing that it didn't turn wilty or soggy my husband sliced a couple of pieces if his tenderloin with or without the protein it was a fresh & delightful salad . This place took over a restaurant that had closed down , what a wonderful replacement. I did see one comment about the baklava having lots of nuts. It does maybe that's why it's so expensive. We had it to go w/ nice shot of espresso at home. Very good but oh so many nuts ! The restaurant was immaculate we were greeted by our guest at our table & Fernando greeted us w/ a warm & welcoming smile . We will be back for sure & enjoy some more of your delicious & delightful menu . Welcome to the City Ctr. !

Yelp
Came here for dinner and left pretty disappointed. The restaurant has a OK vibe and the staff was fine, but the food just didn't deliver. Flavors were bland, portions were small, and it felt way overpriced for what we got. It's not the worst place, but definitely not worth the dinner prices. I don't see myself coming back anytime soon.

Yelp
Our waitress, Della, was an absolute gem! The food was delicious! We would give the octopus souvlaki five stars because it was perfection. If I could, I would order those skewers every day. I think we'll order them every single time because they weren't that good and so well prepared. For the salad, I ordered the kale with green tahini! It's so clean and delicious! I loved it, and am coming back for more!!

Yelp
This is the 3rd time we have been there - each time we go there it is a better experience. The food is great and very fresh. The seem to be getting into the rhythm of service. I say that because the first time we went, it was like pulling teeth to get served and once we were done, we had to track our server down to pay the bill. We love the indoor and outdoor seating. They kept the layout from the previous restaurant - just updated it. We have given the restaurant grace because we know they just opened, two, it is hard to find good staff, and three, the food is worth it.

Yelp
Unique establishment for sure. It's a combined Mediterranean restaurant coffee shop area and a sorta beverage market . They do have the best location kinda tucked away with plenty of outside seating . Thursday 5.22.25 place was 90% empty. Maybe because it's Memorial Day coming up but in thought it would have more people. The diners seems to be all bishop ranch employee on a lunch break . My first time- they hand you lunch specials which basically has the same items on the regular menu but about $5 cheaper. The overall regular menu is not extensive pretty small not too many options. Interior was very nice and clean and modern. Pen kitchen you can literally see them cook everything in house fresh that's why on even an empty time it took ~ 20 min to get out 2 dishes. Service is really good they ask you questions check up on you give you iced water ice on the side and explain the dishes to you . Our server was in midst of training so she had her trainer right behind her all of the time so it was kids awkward but I understood the situation better to have someone to fix her mistakes is she had any issues or couldn't answer any questions we might have. I ordered the lamb wrap with fries . I added the tzakiki sauce which was the best I have ever had it was made fresh it was epic. Prices are not cheap, our bill for 2 without drinks and dessert was 66$ plus tip we have $10 I keep it simple and just double the tax which is about 18%-20%. Place got kinda noisy but not too annoying loud maybe it's the acoustics in the place because it's very large place and the market area is Hollowy. This place is prepared fresh and the harissa sauce in my wrap wasn't too overwhelming and didn't give me heartburn which is a plus. Thumbs up for the attentive service awesome spot for a casual date night . This particular location has changed multiple times so I hope they stay for a while.

Yelp
Stepping into the former Chows big shoes is Alora. A Greek style bar and restaurant with a small side market. Came here on a Saturday evening no reservation. We were told we could sit at the bar or side seating - opting for the side seating for the view outside. Unfortunately as soon as we sat we realized there was a problem with the chairs. They were so designed then you actually slip off the seat less firmly planted. Just after menus put down we decided to abandon this seating and head to the bar. Sitting at the bar - a young gentleman with a Greek accent and no welcoming note to the place asked coldly 'you eating' yes - that is why we have menus ordering two waters and a light pulsed beer - we perused the menu. No sooner then we did this - we then noticed another family trying the same seating we did and encountering the same problem. I noted this to one of the bar staff to which all I got was a smile. ! - like us - that family moved after a few minutes. Ordering flood - I took the lamb and beef kebab with my partner taking the pita bread and hummus. These meals popped up a few minutes later. Unfortunately a big failure - kebab was rubbery in texture and curried raisin rice had defintely been made for quite some time. A spicy dip and a garlic mayo were also gifted on the plate - I can only describe it as a 'microwave' meal for $32 !! . My partners pita - way too salted and again it felt that this was not freshly cooked. The hummus - despite its dressing up with mint leaves and other things was bland - tasteless and watery - just a disaster on a plate. I would have bucketed it myself . The ambiance at this place feels off aswell. Certainly cocktail Drinks were comin out from the bar thick and fast and that's really I think the only saving grace of this place. There were managers floating about - but no one turned up to welcome or ask us how the food was - the Bar man never even asked either - so what I really think is that this is really a wine bar with a kitchen - kitchen unfortunately fails dramatically - we will not be back !

Yelp
I've always loved Mediterranean food, so I was excited to try this place. I ordered the Alora sampler, chicken souvlaki, and the seafood pasta. All of them were honestly really good--but I do think the prices could be better. Food: The Alora sampler was $47. It came with a bunch of dips and everything tasted great--I'd definitely order it again. But $47 feels a bit steep. If it were around $37, I think more people would go for it, because it's worth it at that price point. The chicken souvlaki was also really good, but it came with just one skewer, which felt kind of minimal for the price. Their seafood pasta (frutti di mare) was also solid--flavorful and well-balanced. Service: The server was nice and trying to be attentive, but the restaurant was pretty empty, and she kept coming over to check in--like every few minutes. It started feeling a little much, maybe just because there wasn't much else going on. Surcharge: They added a 3% "health and wellness" charge for employees, which caught me off guard. I've never seen that before, and honestly, it made me a little less inclined to leave a big tip. It just feels like something that should be included in the price, not tacked on. Overall: Great vibe, great food, but definitely on the pricey side--and that extra 3% charge doesn't sit well. I would give them 5 stars if they were just little cheaper and didn't charge surcharge.

Yelp
Was able to visit Alora this past weekend and had a delightful experience with my friends. The ambiance of the restaurant had a charming Mediterranean vibe that set the perfect tone for a relaxing evening - there was a round fireplace in the center with foliage on the ceiling. We decided with the Fried Burrata as our appetizer, and it was absolutely delicious. The burrata was creamy, and when paired with the warm, soft focaccia. For drinks, we each ordered one of their mocktails, which were refreshing and full of flavor. When it came to the main courses, we didn't wait long. I went with the Colone Pompei, and my friends ordered the Frutti de Mare, which was packed with a generous amount of seafood. Both pasta dishes were flavorful. Overall, our first dining experience at this new spot was wonderful. The food, service, and atmosphere all exceeded our expectations. This is a great addition to City Center and will be coming back to try more of their menu.

Yelp
The food we did eat was delicious and service was good! Our kebab did come undercooked so we had to get it remade and taken home

Yelp
The moment I walked in, I knew I wasn't going to be happy. The vibe was negative. I entered through the right set of doors instead of the left ones where the hostess table is. Which means the two hostesses could have greeted me as I am walking towards them. Unfortunately, both were too busy chatting with one another. I was meeting a friend already seated. I took a second to look around, and you'd think they'd try to even acknowledge me at this point. Nope. So I seated myself. Once seated, a friendly waitress came over to greet me. That was nice. Ordered the frutti di mare and asked for less spicy since it said it was in a spicy tomato sauce. The dish was bland. Not even the taste of tomato sauce. And a couple of the mussels never opened, which means they're bad. So I did not have fresh seafood. I asked for some spice, which the waitress said she'd give me on the side when ordering. That finally added flavor. However, when my bill came, there was an extra charge for it. First, let me know there was going to be a charge for it. Secondly, how do you charge when it would have been in my dish to begin with. I just wanted to add the amount into my dish myself, as my waitress suggested. The price was expensive for the quality. All in all, it was a disappointing experience. Would not recommend this place.

Yelp
It's nice to see a new Mediterranean place pop up in San Ramon. Most dishes were good, but I would have expected more quantity + better quality for the price we paid. Some dishes were definitely better than others, and there may even be better dishes that our party didn't order. We came on a Sunday night for a table of 3 and there were plenty of open tables. Tahini Hummus (3.9/5): The hummus was tasty and creamy. The garlic pita was on the crispier side and I would have liked it softer. The pita overall was also on the plain side in regard to its taste. Octopus Souvlaki: (4.5/5) the octopus was cooked well and not chewy at all! However, I will say the amount of octopus you get for the price wasn't quite worth it in my opinion. The skewer had pieces of potato and sausage on it, which means you get less octopus. The sauce paired well, and the sausage was tasty. Lamb Agnolotti: (3.5/5) I would not get this dish again. The pasta was a bit on the chewier side, and the inside of the agnolotti could have been warmer. Overall, the dish was pretty small too. The sauce it came with was quite creamy and tasty, which was a plus. Adona Kebab: (4/5) the meat was cooked quite well. It wasn't the softest, but the two small sauces that it came with helped. There was however something bitter about one of the sauces, which was a bit weird. I'm not sure what it was. Side Cucumber Salad: (3.5/5) surprised by the size of this, although it was a side dish. I don't think it was worth the price. It was ok, but I feel like you could make a version at home that would taste better. baklava + cheesecake for dessert: (3.5/5) they were pretty standard. The cheesecake was a bit better than the baklava. The baklava wasn't overly sweet but there was a little bit too much nuts in it. I would probably skip the dessert next time and opt for Salt & Straw after around the corner! Overall, I think my rating would be a high 3.5, but I've rounded it up to a 4 as I believe there is potential for this restaurant and service was fine.

Yelp
Stopped by to try Alora today and had an opportunity to check out their new space, wine shop and happy hour menu. Loved that happy hour was at the bar OR on patio and the staff was super friendly! Also loved the "wine store" as some great options with small production or limited production wines (Darioush, Orin Swift, Bennet Lane, Silver Oak, Flowers)... Great options on regular menu and Happy hour so we tried both. Unfortunately the Kofte Meatballs were really dried out and crunchy (they were on the regular menu) the happy hour fries and dips made up for the experience as the dips complemented the meatballs perfectly!! Hoping they make some changes as they continue to progress.
