San Francisco’s Best Power Lunch Restaurants | Eater SF

"While the Embarcadero is home to power lunch stalwarts like La Mar and Waterbar, the newer Alora just might be the most compelling option at the moment. In addition to looking especially pretty in the daytime light — the design is a highlight — it offers a light and interesting menu of colorful dips, mezze, and more, which is easily shareable and can be enjoyed as a group." - Flora Tsapovsky

The Best Restaurants on San Francisco’s Embarcadero | Eater SF

"Vikram and Anu Bhambri, the team behind ROOH and Pippal, opened this glitzy waterfront restaurant in January 2024. The hummus is light and creamy, and the eggplant dip is spicy and hardy if you’re looking for a lighter option. Mushroom dolmas arrive warm with a refreshing tzatziki, while the octopus is tender and fresh with a pleasant dill sauce." - Eater Staff

Google
Overall a very disappointing experience - the food was subpar and underwhelming and extremely overpriced for low quality food. Attached is a photo of the “greek” salad ($19!!) - there was nothing greek about this salad. I’ve had many authentic greek salads in Greece and greek restaurants in the US and this was a joke - it was just a head of lettuce that we had to cut ourselves with a weird creamy dressing and used cheap black olives rather than kalamata. The worst part is that we told the servers that we didn’t like the food and the management did nothing about it. You would expect a place like this at this price point for them to care about their customers and provide good service. But this was not the case. We were also surprised that a single piece of pita costs $7 whereas most mediterranean restaurants provide complimentary pita. The main dishes (salmon, eggplant) we got were also underwhelming. The eggplant main dish was extremely, overly sweet - not balanced flavors at all. The salmon was OK, not bad but nothing impressive. The only thing we liked was the mushroom dolma. The ambiance is nice but not worth the low quality food for such a high price. I strongly would NOT recommend this place.

I was excited to see a new Mediterranean restaurant with great ambience pop up in city center. The outdoor seating area as well as interior decor looks great. I ordered the Brussels sprouts and they were delicious. I also had the muhamara which tasted amazing but with a funny finish. I'm not sure if that's the molasses or date syrup? The service was excellent!! She was very sweet. The I also loves the fried eggplant and the shrimp salad. The fish was cooked well but the couscous was not as good as I expected. The meatballs were my least favorite and the baklava was home made recommend by our server and excellent!!

Google
I was really excited to try Alora since they opened in San Ramon! The look of the restaurant is very inviting and pretty and we were seated in a nice spot. We ordered the appetizer sampler platter and all of the dips were delicious, I can't choose a favorite. The bread that came with it was also very tasty and slightly unique. I ordered the adana kebob and thought it was excellent. My husband got the shrimp and they were very good as well. Their house harissa was spicy and spot on and I want to go back just to have it again. Salman came to our table a couple times to make sure everything came out well. I recommend giving them a try!

Google
Food was well presented and pretty tasty. Not somewhere I would be dying to go back to, but I wouldn't be against it either. I had their signature G&T which was also pretty good. We initially loved our server but we made a couple jokes and then she got super weird with us... not sure what was going on there. Loved the atmosphere of the place though- very cute and good vibes. Vegetarian dishes include salads or ordering something and asking to have without the meat. Luckily I do eat fish, and there were many seafood options. Several veg. appetizers.

Google
Service, food, location, atmosphere -- 5/5! Our experience at Alora was great! Yelp Elite Dario O. and I were in the area and I was craving Mediterranean food and Alora Social popped up on Yelp. Although, they are Mediterranean-style eats, we still really enjoyed everything. I made a reservation for 12:15 but arrived by 12:30 (thank you Alora for still taking us in). Thankfully, it wasn't as busy for a Friday lunch so we were seated right away. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with bright colors that really open up the space. They have seating indoors and outdoors. They also have a cafe starting at 8am! I regret not trying anything from their cafe because the menu sounded amazing! They also have a vast selection of wine bottles for purchase. Unless it's for wine tasting? Honestly, I didn't look much into it. I just saw a wall of wine and thought, "wow!" Once we ordered, food came out in a timely matter. Portion sizes are shareable for at least 2 mouths and in my opinion, inexpensive. Definitely quality AND quantity! Each dish lived up to its name and what's expected of it. Everything tasted fresh, tender, very well seasoned/ marinated. We ordered: - Kale Salad + Shrimp (This one's my fave! The kale was crunchy and fresh. I loved the chickpeas and tangerines(?) added in the salad. It was dressed so well that every bite did not disappoint!) - Salmon (the walnut crust is a great idea! It adds so much texture to the tender salmon) - fried burrata (the focaccia was buttery, airy, crisp and a perfect pair with the burrata!) - fried (omg, these were perfect! We loved the airy-ness yet crisp and tenderness from the fried. They're Greek Tavern style fries tossed with lemon, garlic, parsley, oregano. The sauces it came with, 10/10!) - frutti di mare (honestly my least fave, but it was still tasty. A bit spicy but the noodles were tender and you get a good amount of noodles and seafood.) Overall, I'd 100% come back here for lunch and/or dinner! They also have happy hour daily. Big thanks to our waiter, Caesar, for his hospitality and making sure my family and I were taken good care of!

Google
Checked out this new restaurant at city center after equinox on a Saturday. We were concerned because there wasn’t lots of people here - but we were wrong. Their food is delicious! We got clams and andana kebab. Both are really good. Especially love the bread that came with the clams. They also have plenty of interesting cocktail options. I got white sangria. Highly recommend. And we loved the live music too. Plenty of outdoor seatings in shade, friendly to pups.

Google
I was excited to see that Alora opened a new location, as I’ve enjoyed their food at their other spots before. This new restaurant definitely lives up to the high standards they’ve set! The menu offers a great selection of Mediterranean dishes, and I really appreciate their variety of vegetarian options. I tried Dip Sampler and was impressed by the fresh ingredients and bold flavors. The Kumpir - Baked Potato was especially delicious, perfectly seasoned. The ambiance is welcoming, with a modern yet cozy feel, and the staff was friendly and attentive. It’s great to see a place that puts so much care into both the food and the dining experience. If you’re looking for flavorful, high-quality Mediterranean food—especially if you’re vegetarian—this is definitely a spot to check out! I’ll be back soon.

Google
Been waiting for something to come back to this corner of City Center. I went for lunch with some friends and had a very mixed experience. The food itself was seasoned well and flavorful, but the portions were extremely small, especially for the prices. Even with the sampler appetizer that we shared and my kebab entree, I left hungry. The service itself was inattentive. We were there during late lunch so it wasn’t busy at all. There were only a handful of other tables but it still took the server 15 minutes to come by to take our order. We watched him spend more time chatting with fellow coworkers than checking in with his tables, all of whom seemed to be waiting for him to come by. Also to note, our sampler appetizer came fairly quickly but our entrees took about 25 minutes to come. It’s a new restaurant so I understand that it may take a while to get their groove, so I will likely wait a few months at the earliest to come back when they get their service more consistent.

Yelp
Great food. I liked Shrimp adobo. Service was quick and good. Open Ambiance and with Bishop ranch is a plus

Yelp
The service was awesome and our waiter was prompt with everything. Got a to-go box easily from the front and was offered their dessert menu, but they were out of soft-serve :'( The raspberry lemon drop I got was delicious... the price was total around $100 for two drinks and two entrees. I absolutely looooved my food. Would go back there specifically just for the pasta with proscuitto thing (colone pompei) I got 100%... but probably get it to-go... I got to the restaurant to meet with one of my girlfriends and talk, and the noise was loud already. Not ambient noise, just the music. Turn that stuff down, geez... And then the music got way louder (I thought I was losing it) as the belly dancer lady started making her rounds. I didn't know that was going to be a thing, but it definitely wasn't my thing. It felt awkward (she was a fine dancer / sword balancer person) but I didn't feel it fit the vibe of what I thought would be a relaxing time. When she was walking around I wasn't sure if it was like tip the dancer or what, but people were recording her and giving her money in her little bikini thing... Felt so weird. Not something I reeeally was into as I just wanted to eat my -again, I cannot stress this enough - excellent food. Overall, I'd probably go just for the food, but definitely not on a Friday or weekend night with the dancer.

Yelp
We spent a beautiful Saturday afternoon here for my birthday. A new place in City Center serving coastal meditterean food. It's on the corner of Sunset Dr. (close to Roam Burgers) We ordered the brussell sprouts, cucumber salad and fried burrata. All dishes were delicious. My white sangria was so good! Our server, Christianna, was super sweet and very attentive. Salaman, the owner came out to introduce himself and he was very friendly. Also extra bonus points for the great 80s music they were playing. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
We came here for their happy hour! 3-6PM with option for outdoor seating or bar seating. Service was excellent at the bar despite having only one person there. I understand that it may get busy and check-ups were appreciated! :) Beautiful ambiance, huge area for seating - perfect for large parties. Food was fresh and absolutely exceptional. Hummus Tahini - Pita was soft and fluffy. Hummus was thick and flavorful. I liked their green zhoug. Ladolemono Chicken - Pita pockets along with fries. This one was my favorite. All the ingredients blended well together when I took a bite. Saucy, yummy, and chicken was tender. Adana kebab - Pita Pocket along with fries. Good as well but preferred the chicken more. Limoncello Spritz - Lemony, citrus.

Yelp
Located in bishop ranch center. Parking lot available. We had made reservations, when we arrived we noticed quite a few tables were open in the main area but were told only bar table and outside seating was available so we sat at the bar. We ordered the Eggplant, Adana kebab, colone pompei pasta. Food came out promptly and was delicious. The kebab was a small portion tho but the eggplant was heavenly, would come back for that. Around 7pm there was a dance performance which I could only take a glimpse of which I was seated far in the bar, would be nice if I get to sit in the main area next time.

Yelp
Alex at the bar was amazing and really gave all of herself to make sure we were happy. We also saw a young women doing Indian dancing while we were there. The drinks were great and the food delicious. My wife really enjoyed the seafood pasta and the pasta was bouncy and soft, freshly made in-house. I only had a side of focaccia with a dip and the focaccia was so addictive we got three orders total and that's all I ate. It was worth the carbs. In-house made focaccia was soft pan fried with butter and cut into thick chunks for a full pillowy. warm enjoyment.

Yelp
Came on a Sat with a big group, it's pretty crowded but the restaurant is really big so there was plenty of seating. There was a live belly dancing show during dinner which was fun but the music they played was SO loud. My main irks were that they had run out of all the seafood items so we didn't get to try any of those and while I understand it's fitting for the area, the price for the portion size is a little too expensive. I think there's other places in Bishop Ranch worth checking out, this one is good but not great.

Yelp
My fave items here were the lamb lollipops and focaccia! The lamb was juicy and flavorful, perfectly cooked. The potatoes that came with it were also delicious. And we were recommended to get focaccia with the fusilli - for sauce dipping purposes and omg, the focaccia was SO good. It was nice and fluffy on the inside and toasted nice and crispy on the outside. With some sauce--it was perfection! And unfortunately I didn't love the octopus and I usually love the octopus! It either felt overcooked or maybe not the freshest on that particular day. But overall, flavor wise, the dish is decent so I might have to try it again another day. I hear they have a nice happy hour menu so I'll definitely be coming back soon!

Yelp
We came in after seeing this place on IG. The ambiance is beautiful and there was no wait but it got busy for a Wednesday. We sat at the bar for happy hour which was nice. The hostess Emma was super sweet got us menus and helped us out a lot as the bartender Winona was working so hard. The drinks were awesome- and I could tell Winona was making each one with care and love. The food was -chefs kiss- deelish. Truly the food was good. Salmon came to greet us several times check in and see how things were going. Overall I was impressed and the food was really delicious. We will be back.

Yelp
Updating my review. I went again for the third time and was seated inside this time. The place is beautiful. The service is always fantastic. They are really attentive. I hope this restaurant does well! Food was delicious again.

Yelp
Tried Alora Social with a large party on a Wednesday evening for dinner. We had a reservation and the table was ready when we arrived. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but it was a hot day so we opted for inside (after being seated outside). Ambiance: inside is very cute with bright pink floral displays and greenery. Service: Out server was fantastic! I didn't catch her name, but she was funny and provided great descriptions and recommendations for our large group. Drinks: I ordered the white sangria, which was refreshing and not sweet. They have a variety of cocktails, mocktails, beer and wine. Food: We started with the appetizer sampler platter that came with a small portion of all of the dips, pita bread, vegetables, dolma, and spanakopita. This was great for our large group and I enjoyed each of the dips. We also ordered the brussel sprouts, which were tasty, and the focaccia bread. For my entree, I ordered the Adana Kebab, which was a house made lamb and keep combo along with rice pilaf and some sautéed peppers. The dish came with a lot of rice pilaf and I would've liked to have more vegetables, but the kebab was great. Everyone seemed to enjoy their dishes. For dessert, we tried the chocolate hazelnut baklava with vanilla ice cream. It came with a chocolate sauce to pour on top. The bill was a bit pricey, but it was a good meal with excellent service and a fun atmosphere. I would've liked definitely return when in the area. Our server also informed us they have happy hour from 3-6pm and have a number of food and drink specials.

Yelp
Get the appetizer sampler platter!! OH MY GOODNESS 10/10 so delicious!! The food, drinks and atmosphere is to die for. The ONLY downside is it's very expensive and they do add a 3% surcharge to the bill before tax. My advice and what I'd love to see is Happy Hour! Food and drinks. Would definitely come more often for that!

Yelp
Delicious non-traditional mediterranean food. Focaccia is excellent - fluffy and crispy. Definitely recommend the eggplant main dish, hummus and tahini, and fried burrata (not pictured)!

Yelp
I have been watching to try Alora and since I have now I have been back 3 weeks in a row! I always request for Caesar because he is a amazing waiter! He always remembers my daughters food allergies. The kids meal here is a hit! For $15 you get a entree, drink and a ice cream. I recommend adding chicken for a couple dollars more. The ambiance is beautiful and they even have a cute mini market on the side where you can purchase fresh pasta, sauce and even a bottle of champagne.
google avatar

Debbie F.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful! Unfortunately the food was not very good. This was the first time I've ever had to add salt to my meal as it was tasteless. I had the salmon which was A nice sized portion cooked perfectly but flavorless. The bulgar and kale mixture was underneath also had no spices. In the Yelp pictures it had garbanzo beans but none in ours. The eggplant sounds good but it also had like 3 mushrooms on it and a teaspoonful of cheese. They had the music so loud you couldn't hear any conversations. They also add 3 percent to already overpriced food

Yelp
The newest addition to the City Center restaurants and it doesn't disappoint! The ambiance is impeccable and the interior transports you to Greece. The food was excellent and beautifully plated. The owner came out and personally greeted us and made sure our large party celebrating a birthday was taken care of. He pointed out which dishes were halal and we tried the beefAdana and chicken kabobs. Their eggplant dish was a standout and my group liked the salmon too. Their appetizer sampler was stunning and tasty and their mocktails were beautiful. They made our celebration special and I'd recommend the restaurant for dates and nice meals.

Yelp
Alora sampler is just amazing! The staff are nice and the environment to me is very welcoming w dance show once a while. Great experience!!! I will definitely come back again!

Yelp
Alora's theme is coastal Mediterranean, and the menu combines influences from many different cuisines including Greek, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Lebanese, and more! The one dish to order to get a good sampling of the appetizers was the Alora Sampler, a huge round metal platter with ramekins of hummus, tzatziki, moutabal, muhammara, and tabbouleh, along with pickled and fresh vegetables, garlic pita, mushroom dolmas, and bite-sized spanakopita, and everything on the platter was flavorful, colorful, and delicious! We got a few additional mezzes as well including Fried Burrata, a creative dish made of a fried burrata cheese ball in a creamy vodka-rosatella sauce; Cozze, a pound of mussels cooked in white wine; and Octopus, a confit Spanish octopus leg served with chorizo and potatoes over romesco sauce. The mezzes came with grilled focaccia bread on the side, which had a crispy exterior and fluffy interior, and was perfect for dipping into the vodka and white wine sauces! The Kumpir was a Turkish streetcart-style baked potato with crispy skin and a soft interior fluffed with butter and tulum cheese. But the best part was the flavorful topping, a colorful medley of pickled cabbage, corn, olives, roasted red peppers, scallions, and red and white sauces. The Fatoush Salad was a crunchy, refreshing combination of watercress, radish, and shaved asparagus, cucumbers, and carrots, all tossed with thick, crunchy pita chips and a tangy lemon-sumac vinaigrette. This non-traditional Fatoush was so refreshing and delicious, and I especially liked the crunchy texture added by the pita chips! Since I came with a large group, for our main, we got the Izgara Aile Tarzi, a mixed grill platter which came with each of their grilled meats: Ladolemono Chicken served over tzatziki; Adobo Shrimp Pincho served over a Seville orange salsa; Beef Shashlik (marinated filet mignon) served with chermoula; and Adana Kebab (ground lamb and beef) topped with sumac marinated peppers, served with harissa and toum. Every kebab was juicy and perfectly marinated and grilled, and I loved how each meat was served with its own accompaniments and condiments, creating a huge range of flavors! Overall, this was a fantastic Mediterranean restaurant with a lovely setting and quick, friendly service too! Some of the highlights were the Alora Sampler, the Octopus, the Fatoush, and the Izgara (grilled meats), but you simply can't go wrong!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday lunch with the boo. We were seated right away and given ample time to peruse the menu. The ambiance was great. Bright lighting with the windows, very hip atmosphere. Ordered the moutabal, octopus souvlaki, and colone Pompeii. The moutabal was very flavorful, a bit on the salty side for me. The octopus souvlaki was a hit. Super tender octopus with a delicious tomato based sauce. The pasta was also delicious. I'd have like it slightly more al dente, but overall excellent sauciness! All in all a great first experience. Will have to come back to try more!
google avatar

Yelp
They are now offering a kids menu and have high chairs available. Kids menu salmon with rice was the perfect portion for my 1 year old. We have enough for leftovers for his next meal. For $15 your child can get a drink , a high quality meal and ice cream. We are adding this spot to our dinner rotation.
google avatar

Maryem A.

Yelp
Great service and beautiful ambiance inside! Outdoor seating is also very nice if you don't mind street views and cars passing. The sides and salad were delicious! The grilled meats ordered as the shareable main dish was good, but not quite authentically Mediterranean. Overall, good choice for light and family style meals!

Yelp
Overall: 3.5 My boyfriend and I came on a Friday evening and up until our entrees, this was a 5 experience. The fried burrata in the vodka sauce was DELICIOUS, especially with that toasted focaccia. I personally wasn't a big fan of the Moutabal. The interior decor and ambience was great! The service was also fantastic and attentive. I appreciated how the owner checked in with each table periodically. For Fridays or weekends, they also have a dancer that dances around the restaurant. So if you're looking for a quiet place to eat, I wouldn't recommend coming here. As for the entree, we ordered the Adana Kebab, which tasted amazing. Until I realized the inside was completely raw. They were very kind to remake my order, which was then cooked well. But my boyfriend had ordered the same exact dish and his was actually overcooked and hard to cut through. Mostly felt inconsistent, but flavor was delicious. As for the receipt, we were slightly bothered, as there is an automatic 20% tip put on the bill labeled as "Large Party". And we were a party of 2. Before seeing the receipt, we would have loved to tip 20%, the staff and our waitress was so attentive and professional. But after seeing an automatic large party tip put on the bill for a party of 2, it doesn't feel that great. We also asked what the 3% surcharge was, and our waitress said it was for the employees benefits like commuter benefits. It wasn't so much the cost or amount of the surcharge, but why is customer paying for the employees benefits? Shouldn't it up to the responsibility of the employer? Especially as the food is already quite expensive. We chose the Restaurant Week Pre-Fixe menu, which was $55 per person (almost $75 per person after all of the tax and fees). Let alone, my entree costs $32 full price. For $32, I would hope that it has no issues. All in all, I did still have an overall pleasant experience and I'm still dreaming about the fried burrata ball, but these certain things rubbed me the wrong way.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on Father's Day without a reservation, and had no problem being seated. The restaurant was about 60-70% full. They are located where Chow was. It's nice inside with seating, a bar, and a small market/cafe. There's also a nice patio dining area outside, and today there was live guitar music. We enjoyed our food, and the service was good too. However, it's a bit pricey for casual Mediterranean food. What we ordered: + Kale with green tahini salad with ladolemono chicken - good salad and the ladolemono chicken kebabs were really tender and juicy, but $30 for a lunch salad is a bit much. + Pita pocket with ladolemono chicken - for a side, you get a choice of fries or salad. The salad was crispy and fresh, and the pita pocket was very good. There's a market/coffee cafe inside that's pretty small and not entirely stocked, but there's some drinks, chips, and lunch meats, like salami. There's also a dessert case with a few premade desserts. Overall, come here for the food, but be ready to pay a little extra.

Yelp
Food, service and ambience five star! Madison was our server and she was attentive, informative and Salman was top notch and checked on us multiple times! The food was amazing, the atmosphere and hospitality was just as good!

Yelp
My friends and I came here to celebrate my birthday. The ambiance was classy and food was amazing. We started with drinks and the salted tangerine was delicious. We then odered the Alora sampler, focaccia bread, kale salad, fried burrata, octopus, pea triangoli, adana kebab, beef shashlik, and eggplant. Everything was yummy. My favorites were the sampler, pea triangoli, and the eggplant. Parking was easy as we parked in the attached mall for free. I would definitely come back again for the fantastic food and service. The manager, Salman, checked in with us several times to make sure we were happy. We ended the meal with the chocolate hazelnut baklava.

Hector D.

Yelp
Excellent food, the Golden Potatoes as a side is awesome. The Izgara Aile Tarzi was really good. Don't miss the Baklava dessert. Alex the server, a super nice guy, the same goes to Salman the waiter. The ambient music was great, "El Hob Gany" by Tul8te was new to me, a great blending of pop, bossa nova, and elements of psychedelic rock to create a unique, eclectic sound.

Yelp
I'd say I'm at about a 3.8 on Alora Social. Walking in we were seated at their large comfortable patio. For me live music is frequently a negative and although I enjoyed their singer, overall I think I would have preferred no music since I like to be able to chat during my meal. Food wise, we enjoyed the complex flavor profile of the pea hummus with fried lavash bread ($16), the buttery side of potatoes ($12), the flavorful chicken wings ($18), as well as the apricot-rose refreshers ($7) and full bodied Sangria ($13). But two of our dishes weren't a hit - the Kumpir ($22) (a stuffed baked potato with sujuk) wasn't that flavorful, and the brussels sprouts ($15) were over fried with too much vinegar. Price wise, you're absolutely paying for the location with everything being about 2-5 dollars above norm and the service was friendly, but not practiced or smooth. Overall, we enjoyed our meal, but at the end of the day we prefer Sipeos in Walnut Creek.

Yelp
Great new addition to City Center Bishop Ranch. I enjoyed most of the dishes we had, the service was attentive throughout, and there was even live music when I visited on a Saturday. Out of everything we tried, the octopus souvlaki, kumpir, and sigara borek were my favorites. I would order these three shareable plates again if I were to visit again. They are also great portions for sharing with 2-3 people. The lamb agnolotti and fattoush salads were a bit underwhelming for me. The presentation of the mocktails were great as well, but thought they could all use more flavor.

I've been wanting to take the family here after I went for lunch. Ordered the octopus again with the tahini hummus to share. Every bite followed a "Ohmygodthisissogood." Trust me. It really is. The tender octopus, smokey flavors, accompanied by the potatoes and sausage it was just the perfect pairing. DD ordered the fried burrata bc she loves all things fried AND burrata. Lots of flavors. Chili oil gave it a bit of a kick. Not sure if this dish was supposed to be HOT HOT but it was warm and delicious still spread of grilled foccacia bread. Yummy. This time I saved room for dessert. Something light and sweet to finish the meal. Decided on the soft serve and lemme tell ya; This wasn't your typical, overly sweet, run of the mill ice cream here. It was so full of pure flavors, vanilla or honey, that made you want to take another bite even though you said "Just one." Next time, will have to try the cheesecake.

Yelp
Alora Social is a gorgeous space - elegant and airy, though maybe too spacious, which made the atmosphere feel a bit impersonal at times. Service was attentive and friendly, even if not the most knowledgeable about the menu. The mezze sampler was a visual standout, truly beautiful, but the flavors didn't quite match the presentation. Each dish seemed like it was close to great but slightly missed the mark, and overall the food was quite salty. I don't mind small portions, but these were tiny! We're talking maybe two tablespoons, including the hummus, which unfortunately wasn't memorable. The za'atar crackers were flavorful and satisfying, but they were served in an unlined wood caddy that didn't look dishwasher safe... kind of an odd choice for food service and a bit of a red flag. I came in really wanting to love this place, something like Oren's Hummus or Dishdash if you're familiar with those South Bay staples, but it didn't quite land for me. Still, there's enough promise here that I'd consider coming back in a year to see how things have evolved. Four stars because the experience had strong points, even if the food didn't quite get there.

Yelp
I believe this is my second review, last time the sample was 39 bucks and now it's 42 but there is no crispy lavash just pita bread. Dk why the price needed to go up 3 bucks for food that is cheaper than what was previously provided. The decor is cute and staff is friendly but dayum, the prices are just wild.. food is good though so idk!

Yelp

Yelp
Amazing food. One of the best Mediterranean fare but also easily one of the very expensive for a casual setting. Some vegetarian options too. Large portions and a very expansive area to sit in. Service was warm and prompt. Overall a great casual place for upscale lunches and dinners.

Yelp
The food and drinks were great! They also have happy hour everyday! The servers were friendly and it was nice being able to sit outside.

Yelp
This is a fun restaurant in San Ramon. Tonight we had the fried burrata. The crunchy case and tasty fox is made this appetizer great. We had a special Mary's chicken tonight with veggies and rice pilaf. The chicken was nicely flavored. With the strong flavors on the chicken we wish the rice pilaf and veggies were more bland. All tasted very similar and over the top. A nice flavor contrast adds a lot of intrigue menu choices. Our server was a true gem. She stopped by regularly to check in without being overbearing. The restaurant ambiance is open, airy and nicely decorated. Note: the server and kitchen stated most of the menu is Halal.

Yelp
Food is amazing. Amazing! Food was so good we won't complain too loudly about service. Server also tended bar so ordering and paying for our meal was a long wait. We'll assume they are having growing pains and give them one more try.

Yelp
Alora is a large, Mediterranean restaurant offering up cuisine inspired by Turkey, Italy, Greece, and Morocco. So yes, expect lots of grilled kebabs, pastas, and innovative bread and dips. It takes over the huge spot previously occupied by Chow. So the restaurant is huge with bright lights, a few indoor trees, huge central bar, and tons of indoor and outdoor seating. We came here for lunch and enjoyed the food and service. They don't offer booster seats for toddlers, and their kids menu just seemed like smaller portions of the adult menu. They also forgot about the free frozen yogurt, so -1 star. Some dishes were great: 1. Zaatar Walnut Crusted Salmon is a winner - perfectly juicy salmon underneath that wonderful crispy crust. Our 4yo took a few bites and actually loved this dish more than his Chicken rice plate. 2. Chicken Wings were also perfectly cooked and juicy, and it was a spectacle to see our server unload all those wings out this gigantic skewer. Thought I was at Fogo De Chao for a moment. Good, not great Dishes: 1. Octopus Souvlaki was tender and food but I agree with other Yelpers portions were a bit small since it was all served on a skewer with potatoes and salad as filler 2. Kid's Menu Item: Lemon Chicken Thighs.. Chicken was moist and juicy, but our son wS not a fan of the rice. Brown basmati rice with some chopped nuts and noodle-like things. For adults this is perfectly fine, but our son likes classic basmati rice with saffron or turmeric like they offer in most Greek/Persian/Afghan places 3. The Pita bread was crispy and pillowy, though most customers around us favored the crispier Lavash bread, which is better for dips. They offer a nice red peppery, candied walnut dip that was spicy and sweet, similar to Mexican Mole. I would definitely consider coming back, but perhaps as solo workweek lunch or maybe a lunch date with the wife.

Yelp
Came here twice in a week! Once with friends and once on company dinner. Good Mediterranean food in city center. I love love the vongole, it was really good with the bread, fresh and tasty. Will be back for sure. The walnut crusted salmon was also good. We tried the sampler plate but I am not a big fan.

Yelp
Lovely big restaurant with a fresh Mediterranean feel. The big open windows make for easy car and people watching. Overall this is a great lunch spot for families! We came here on the weekend for lunch and service was friendly. We had to ask for more water and they apologized for not refilling us sooner. We had an almost 4 year old with us and she got the butter noodles for lunch and ate the whole thing. She also loved the kids lemonade and ice cream. We also had an almost 2 month old with us, so I appreciated that the volume inside was comfortable and the bathroom has a diaper changing station. Bathroom is also spacious and clean. Loved the pea hummus and pita. The seafood pasta was yummy and had just right level of spice (would get again). The salmon was cooked perfectly though the flavor was forgettable.

Yelp
The food is over priced and low quality. I had a chicken on my salad that was dry, looked to be reheated in the microwave. Also took about 20 minutes to get anyone to help me. Very disappointed in this place. If you want a good place to eat DO NOT GO HERE!

Yelp
Great outdoor patio eating area with lots of shade. Great fast service. Food was not only delicious but esthetically pleasing. The hummus looked too pretty to eat.

Yelp
Alora looks nice but the food and service do not live up to the ambiance or price point. It's a 2.5 that I bumped up because they may still be working out the kinks. My entree salad was an overpriced bowl of unmassaged kale with a few slivers of apricot, completely devoid of flavor. I later realized that it was missing several components, including the chickpeas and the green goddess dressing. My husband's kebab was marginally better but a bit rubbery and strangely bland too. Happy hour apps were the best part of the meal -- spanikopita was tasty and hummus was good, if not memorable. Service was spotty at best and unprofessional at worst. Maybe it was an off night, so I'd return if someone else invited me but wouldn't go back of my own accord.

Yelp
Alora!!! So glad you guys finally opened. I've been eyeing you. lol I've been back 3x already. This means the food is delicious and the drinks too. Loving the coastal Mediterranean experience, the freshness and vibrant colors in all of the dishes. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and they put a lot of love going into each dish that is served. What I have order so far on the menu: Octopus - flavorful, tender, and is my favorite by far. Chicken wings - hot off the fire. Muhammara Hummus - my favorite hummus. Pairs with the lavish Kofte meatballs- ok, could be better and the size of the meatball can be a little bit bigger as well. Cozze mussels- love the flavors and freshness of the mussels. Order focaccia bread to dip the broth. Alora sampler- wonderful, vibrant sampler of all the hummus to try and their house made pickled veggies. Perfect!!! A must try and to share with all. Drinks: Sangria Margarita Alora spritz Another drink that I can't remember. (mezcal and a dried apricot in it as garnish) Btw our server Madison has been great the past two visits. She is friendly, takes notice of things, and attentive. All great things in what a wonderful service should be. As of today 4/8/25 they updated their HH menu. I enjoyed their past HH selection vs. what they had. I understand they're still working out the kinks on the menu and selection of things offered on HH. We didn't get anything on the HH menu bc it didn't appeal to us. Which was a bummer. I really enjoyed what they had offered last week. I will continue to come and dine at Alora and try other dishes on their menu.

Yelp
Went there for a Halloween distraction. We were immediately were seated and treated to belly dancing during our meal. The wait staff was knowledgeable, they were attentive and promptly brought our orders to the table. We were a party of 6, so the gratuity was added in, making the entire experience enjoyable. The food offerings were OUTSTANDING! Everyone in our party tried something different as a main course. We started off with roasted red pepper appetizer with freshly made pita. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. We weee so full that we had to pass on dessert, although next time, we'll save room. Salman, the mature d' was outstanding, making sure sure everything was to our satisfaction. A great evening out, we definitely plan on returning.

Yelp
Perfect addition to Bishop Ranch City Center! My husband and I have been waiting for someone to snatch the corner of this lot and Alora is perfect for this location. I made reservations last night for myself and my in-laws. We were greeted with a smile and seated right away. The ambiance and the overall look of the inside is fantastic. Our waitress was amazing - checked in often, gave us the rundown of the menu with detail, offered her suggestions, and let us know that everything is made in house (bonus!) We ordered pita with dip (I can't remember what it was exactly, but it had pomegranate seeds and pomegranate molasses - 10/10!) Salmon - 10/10 Chicken souvlaki - 10/10 Kebab - 10/10. The kebab came with a garlic butter cream thing and omg it was amazing. We ended up swapping plates to get a taste of each dish and all was amazing. Plating was appealing, portions were just right, and flavors are phenomenal. Hats off to the chef! Of course, we ended the night with baklava and a side of soft serve ice cream, both 10/10 (duh). Food was so good I only got pics of the menu and my kebab haha. We will definitely be back!!
