The 25 Best Restaurants In Berlin - Berlin - The Infatuation

"When tourists and Berliners want a traditional German meal with a side of the slightly ridiculous, they head to Alt Berliner Wirsthaus Henne. The 100-year-old Kreuzberg pub serves half a broiler chicken without a knife, which is made even more entertaining after a couple of steins of the local craft beers. The theatre of the high-ceilinged room—heavy with wood, leather and antlers, and filled with people frantically attacking crispy-skinned chicken with a fork—makes the Henne experience hard to forget. Order both the sauerkraut and potato salad, and stage them on the tartan tablecloth alongside your humble plate of rye bread and bird to complete the unequivocally German scene." - olivia ladanyi

I seated myself underneath the tree outside.. the chicken was baked hot and toasty! What could you ask for more than the delicious chicken, draft beer, sunny terrace seat, and such a helpful and kind staff! I wish I had more time to spare on the chicken and it was actually a big portion for one person! Next time, I shall eat them all!!!

THE place for fried chicken in Berlin. The young birds are crispy and juicy, accompanied by a potato (mayonnaise) or Kraut (vinegar) salad. Prices are moderate despite the continued popularity of the restaurant. Great German beers on tap, including Jever, and a friendly and efficient service crew. A stop here is a tradition for us when visiting Berlin since 1985!

A taste of Old Berlin with a traditional menu of meatballs and schnitzel! Great atmosphere and a good visitor experience. Recommended!

This is a quaint pub in Berlin where you can feel the past in the form of pictures and furnishings. The food is very good, even if there is only chicken, sausages and potato salad or coleslaw. the atmosphere in the restaurant was good. The encounters were friendly and quick and there was plenty of beer on tap and bottles

The food is excellent und the crew is very accommodating to all your wishes. You definitely need to make s reservation, even if you are only 2 people or right after opening. I speak out off own experience!! We travel almost 1 hour with public transportation just to get the best chicken in town !

After eating at this restaurant, I am convinced that all other food I have ever eaten wasn't really even food. Henne's food is FOOD; the most delicious food I have ever tasted. The staff is helpful and kind, and the biergarten is relaxing and pleasant. Definitely recommend a visit!

Great local spot. The menu is not in English but you don't really need it. You come here for the 1/2 chicken. The skin is crispy. The meat is juicy. Pair it with cole slaw or potato salad. Both are good. Be aware that the chicken takes a while to cook but it's worth the wait. Also note that they don't have knives. The chicken is quite hot when it comes out so you have to be careful pulling it apart with your fork and hands.

Absolutely brilliant, we loved everything about this restaurant. Service was 5 star, Food 5 stars and the atmosphere and decor, 5 stars. You will need to book if you want to come, but if you want a small taste of an old east Berlin restaurant, this is the place to come. Have the Crispy Chicken it is delicious. Good beer as well
