New London Restaurants on Our Radar

"Opened in September within Kingly Court, the multi-level Soho hub already home to Darjeeling Express, Donia and Imad’s Syrian Kitchen, this open-fire restaurant injects Spanish flavours and flame-powered technique into the mix, taking cues from northern Spain in a way not dissimilar to the immensely popular Mountain, with Chef Rob Roy Cameron—who has experience at El Bulli and 41°—at the helm." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team

Fantastic meal @alta.london off #carnabystreet Live fire restaurant with open kitchen inspired by Northern Spain. We were impressed by every dish that was put in front of us; from the bread and butter to the 35 day aged sirloin to the cocktails. Each dish delivered an unexpected twist leaving you pleasantly surprised. Surprisingly, I find myself still thinking about the potato side dish with an incredible herb butter! It was also the first time I’d tried a warm cocktail (the Café Carajillo with Bananas, Honey, Coffee, Cream) and it was delicious! My friend was amazed by how quiet the open kitchen was. Service was almost perfect (for me); not constantly being interrupted checking if we liked or meal, dishes described with just the right amount of detail that I didn’t get bored, very polite and friendly staff. Great central London option. #spanishfood #kinglycourt #londoneats #londonfoodie #london #londonrestaurant

We came for lunch and really enjoyed the atmosphere especially with it's light filled space and open kitchen. We really couldn't fault the food, every dish hit the spot and the service was excellent. Between the two of us, we shared the razor clams (so delicate and fresh), pork trotters (this surprised me in a good way and was delicious with the bread and butter), courgette and pumpkin (the romesco sauce was unreal), squid vizcaina (really good), pork chop (perfectly cooked) with potato and leeks as the sides (accompanied the pork well) and the basque cheesecake (soft and great flavour and a nice way to end the meal). The service was helpful, friendly and interactive.

Fabulous food prepared by some fantastically talented chefs, totally amazing front of house staff who are very knowledgeable about the food on offer. The drinks were great as well. Highly recommend the oysters, the seabass, the venison and the chocolate ice cream and smoked meringue. Thanks to the whole team for an amazing experience.

Honestly, I didn’t expect much from a “Kingly court” restaurant — they tend to come and go — but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was fantastic! The mackerel and clams were simple yet beautifully done, with delicate flavors that really hit the mark. The turbot was cooked perfectly. Every dish felt thoughtfully balanced without being overcomplicated. The chocolate bread dessert at the end was an absolute standout. The only small letdown was that the wine came from a tap. I get that it’s an eco-friendly move, but personally, I like seeing the bottle when it’s poured. Not a dealbreaker, though. Overall, a great meal that exceeded expectations!

A live fire restaurant inspired by the Navarra region of Northern Spain. I had a very interesting lunch at this new restaurant with some absolutely delicious dishes that stand out among the others on the menu. The decor is modern and welcoming and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. The house Txistora, squid, lard and vizcaina sauce and mushroom fideos were amazing. Definitely one the list to visit again.

The environment at ALTA in Kingly Court is pleasant and the service was fine. The food, however, didn’t quite meet expectations. The mussels could have been fresher, and the steak we ordered medium rare came out more medium well. Mushroom Fideos was a disappointment: using “see you tomorrow” mushrooms and charging £18 for the dish felt both underwhelming and overpriced. Overall, the setting is nice, but the food quality and execution could be improved, especially considering the price point.

Great Spanish restaurant with inventive dishes. Cost ambience near the open kitchen on the ground floor or upstairs surrounded by wine shelves. (Only slight downside is the location in the very crowded Carnaby street although you get a sense of serenity stepping I to the restaurant away from the hubbub outside).

We love to explore new restaurants and this is a gem. Loved the stipped back décor with the open kitchen. Excellent choice of food and wine. So many great dishes, and great service. Best book early as I expect this maybe a roaring success.
