Alta Waverly

I have lived in the Bay Area for 8 years and my time at Alta was by far the best apartment I lived in and I was so sad to leave. Shara, Dom and Faze are amazing! Professional, kind & responsive, they made our life at Alta super comfortable. If you are searching for an apartment I guarantee you will love it here. It’s not a huge apartment building so maintenance and management are always on top of things. The gym is clean and felt like a home gym when I worked out. The common areas are great and never crowded which is a plus. Whole Foods is a couple of minutes away and the lake is right there!! Thank you Shara and Dom for being super welcoming and professional. I will miss you guys!

I loved living at the Alta for a year, and would have stayed longer if I didn't have to relocate to be closer to family. The people really make this place special and differentiate it from other compexes- from Shara and Dom in the front office to the neighbors. There is a real effort to make residents feel at home and to build community through things like biweekly happy hours, resident events, and yoga/Barre classes. Maintenance requests were always very promptly completed. Shara and Dom are wonderful and always went above and beyond to help my family and me. We had a truly exceptional experience at the Alta that I'm not sure we'll be able to find again at any other building.

Living at Alta Waverly has been wonderful. My apartment and our community spaces are clean and comfortable. The amenities (eg yoga and barre class, community garden, dance studio, gym, maker space, and rooftop) are excellent and really add to the high value of living here. The close proximity to Lake Merritt, fun activities in Oakland, and Bart is very convenient. The community at Alta is so special, I’ve met some incredible friends here! This has been a big positive in my experience here. We also have fun and varied events that cultivate community. When I have apartment maintenance issues or other challenges, the staff is often efficient and friendly in resolving them. They are also thoughtful and care about me as a person. I hope Alta can maintain reasonable and competitive rent pricing and be flexible with residents who have renewed a lease. It would also be great to have: * a better resident portal that easily connects residents with each other and where we can post. * complimentary guest parking in the garage.

They are very lucky they have Dom as their leasing agent. He was very kind to me and extremely thorough during his tour and was the main reason I applied. I submitted my application and was denied at the end of October. They were very communicative until I was denied and it became very hard to get a response about my holding deposit. I emailed, called and showed up to talk to Shara (the person who processed my application). I was given the run around and told I would get an email to confirm my refund within 24-48 hours, which sounds weird. I never received another email or call after following up multiple times and never received my deposit back. I am facing homelessness due to my limited funds. I have filed a chargeback with my bank and will be leaving reviews everywhere I can think of to avoid them taking advantage of anyone else. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB.

Alta Waverly is a wonderful place to live. Floor plans are great, office staff is so friendly, amenities are great but honestly the best part is the community. So friendly and so many events that people actually show up to! Love living here! Smoothie bowl event today was delicious!

They are professional yet genuine, kind, and friendly. They were neither pushy nor arrogant which is what we found to be the case at other places we toured or spoke to. And since moving in they’ve treated us like family are helpful and communicative. 2) We looked into a ton of places all over Oakland and Alta Waverly by far offers some of the most thoughtful and unique amenities. I’ve listed only some of the ones that stand out most to us: - DIY makers space by far is my favorite part (somewhere you can do woodworking, arts & crafts, and just make a mess). - 24 hour gym with equipment we hadn’t seen in other apartment gyms like a rower, StairMaster, plyo boxes, large range of free weights, etc. - Two resident lounge areas (2nd floor and rooftop). Beautiful urban oasis landscaping, grills, fire pits, indoor/outdoor lounging areas, dog run, community garden, etc. - Controlled access and nightly security - Fun assortment of Community Events - Gated access parking garage - Coffee and hot drink bar - Package room for the gazillion amazon orders that get delivered to us 3) All of the neighbors we’ve met are friendly and respectful. 4) Unbelievably dog friendly. Our chiweenie has made so many friends of all sizes here. 5) Lake Merritt is 2 blocks away and there are plenty of places to go and things to do all within walking distance. We’ve had a blast walking around the area and exploring. 6) It’s a safe area - To go to work I use public transportation- I walk to the Bart (7 min) around 5:30am and come back around 8:30pm and I feel safe. ... I could honestly keep going but these were just the first few off the top of my head.

I’ve lived at Alta Waverly for 4 years and will definitely be renewing my lease when it comes up soon. The apartments are stylish and well-designed and the building amenities are some of the best around (check out that gym and rooftop!). I really appreciate how sound proof the units are and the fact that they have central AC for those hot Oakland days that are few and far between. The residents are al super kind, maintenance requests are handled promptly, and the staff is always ready, willing, and able to help out whenever it’s needed. I love living here!

So happy to call Alta Waverly home! This complex is not like the rest: the building, units, amenities, and design are very impressive and paired perfectly with the leasing staff. I had the pleasure of being assisted by Mac (total rockstar) who quickly helped me as I dropped in. Mac took a refreshing approach of actually asking about needs and wants and suggested a couple of floor plans accordingly - this really helped take the pressure off of trying to understand what might be best on my own. I knew Alta Waverly was the best option for me and wanted to lease immediately after touring and Mac did everything he could to make that seamless -- even though I was springing a fire drill-type request and timeline. Thanks, Mac! Look no further, tour Alta Waverly. See what the building and delightful staff offer. You won't regret it.

I love living at Alta Waverly! The staff (shoutout to Faze and Tianti) are really welcoming and responsive. They host a lot of community events such as Sunday Sundae and having a live band with free food and drinks. Amenities are nice, and a bonus is that there are so many dogs in the building

Friendly staff, Tianti is the best! I love the yoga class and events. Sometimes the trash room is sticky or smelly.

Wouldn't recommend living anywhere else in uptown - amazing property, amazing staff and amazing neighbors. Jose and Louie are THE best - chill, friendly and literally know how to fix everything... community events are actually fun and engaging from henna to screen printing to wine tasting.

Tianti toured us and gave us a great experience. Apartments are well insulated (no outside noise). Biweekly happy hours for residents. And some decent move-in specials to boot!

I've been living here for 3.5 years and love it. All the staff are amazing. Special shout out to Jose and Louie, our maintenance workers. Louie is so thorough and has fixed problems that other workers haven't been able to figure out. Highly recommend living here.

Moved in about a month ago. I'm loving it here. Tianti and Faze were both big helps in my moving process. Great guys to work with! Definitely recommend.

5/5 for the staff, they were always responsive, friendly, and helpful. We ended up having to change from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom apartment about a month into our lease and the staff was extremely accommodating. Maintenance was fast and friendly as well. 4/5 for for the units themselves. One star deducted from noise from upstair neighbors footsteps. I really loved the spacious layout, appliances, and functionality of the 2 bedroom unit we lived in. The 1 bdr. wasn't quite full-sized for 2 adults, it had a junior fridge, smaller dishwasher, and oven. Also one closet for the entire apartment - which had to house 2 peoples clothes and all of our camping and sports gear. 3/5 for the property. Loved the upstairs roof deck, BBQ grills, and dog walk. My biggest pet peeve was the elevators/elevator area. It's so cramped for a property that size and with social distancing I would have to wait sometimes 6-7 minutes just to take the elevator down from the 5th floor. May not seem like a long time but when you have to meet a delivery driver or get down quickly it was very frustrating. 1/5 for the location. This is no fault of AW, but the location attracts A LOT of crime. I wish I was more familiar with the area before I moved there because I wouldn't have moved in, again that's no fault of AW, I should have better educated myself. Car break-ins around the area were a constant sight, a significant bike theft occurred at the property's "secured" bike storage -- which resulted in my friend getting her bike stolen (although likely an inside job since it's accessible by fob). I felt on edge walking my dog a majority of the time and would never walk him after dark. Throughout the time I lived there, I was followed, cat-called, cursed at, and yelled at probably over 25 times, and I wish I was exaggerating. Paying for secured parking is a must. To be clear, I had no issues with my vehicle in the secured parking, just the immediate surrounding areas and one-time the retail garage attached to the property. TLDR: nice units, great staff, but lots of crime in the area.

Love this community- Lots of fun events and friendly neighbors. I've lived here for over a year and seen property management change and while there can be minor hiccups during that period, overall experience was still great. Location to Whole Foods, target and bart is so accessible. I plan to renew.

Luxury community amenities, a quick walk across the street to Lake Merritt, a myriad of food options within minutes (including Oakland's best kept secret bakery directly across the street), and a dog park on the roof -- it's kind of obvious why our apartment in Alta Waverly was the best apartment my wife and I ever lived at. The property director, Meshana, does a top notch job of running point of everything behind the scenes. Not only is she an avid communicator to the community, she's extremely approachable and a really great human being -- the sort of qualities in apartment management that are increasingly rare but make all the difference in living somewhere. Those looking to post up in downtown Oakland really need to strongly consider Alta Waverly. You probably won't find the best of all worlds outside this complex.

I love living here. The staff here are fantastic, it seriously makes such a big difference. Meshina, Tianti and Faze are fantastic! they host the best events and make this place such a wonderful community. Louie and Jose are also wonderful, they are so professional, timely and kind. I never have to worry about it any repairs because I know they have our back. This is a wonderful place to live, definitely consider living here.

First, I'd like to say that the community itself is awesome. The management throw events every now and then, and also have a recurring happy hour. Additionally, everyone that I've met so far have been super nice and actually have grabbed dinner with a few of the people living here. The amenities are great and up kept well, always cleaned and sanitized. Whenever I have guests over they always want to immediately go to the rooftop to enjoy the view of the lake and the fire pits. Lastly, whenever an issue came up the management or maintenance responded quickly within 24 hours and always had a fix/solution.

After considering Alta Waverly as a place to call home for the past year, I thought it was time to take action, so I decided to visit and learn more. I found the information available online to be a good source for researching options, prices, property amenities, etc. before setting up a time to meet on-site with one of the property representatives. I was fortunate to be scheduled to tour units with Christina Avila who was friendly, professional, and tailored options to my expressed "wants" in my new home. (You'll see her name referenced often and I hope property management is doing everything possible to let her know just how valuable she is!) In touring the property, I was impressed with the design and location of communal spaces and found everyone we encountered to be friendly. The apartments, themselves, are well designed and appointed, with all of the modern features you would expect to see. All have the same finishes with enough variety in layout to find exactly what you're looking for. I decided on a 2Br option that best met my needs. Christina was helpful in communicating the exact prices, helping me to understand the application/deposit process (all online) - even pets have a screening - and I soon found myself approved and placed a holding deposit to confirm. Reflecting on the experience I had touring other neighboring properties, Alta Waverly wins on price transparency, community-focused vibe, thoughtfully designed apartments and amenities. (To the community point, Alta Waverly goes above and beyond, even through the pandemic, to keep the community engaged with Friday night food trucks and virtual events, too.) Unfortunately, a few days after putting down the holding deposit, it was clear my near-term work demands would prevent a move at this time. I called Christina and spoke with her about my change in status. She listened, understood, and quickly set about refunding the holding deposit I had paid just a few days before. I'm disappointed it didn't work out for me to move at this point, but when I am considering it again, I will definitely start my search with Alta Waverly!

Really grateful for Christina! She's a gem - always upbeat, always working (and organizing the package room - she goes above and beyond), and very responsive. We've been here about eight months now and we've noticed changes in Alta Waverly management and staff. However, Christina is a constant. She would be an amazing property manager!

This is a great new property in an excellent location. The staff does a great job with hosting events for residents. Live music events with craft cocktails and you don't even have to leave home, just awesome! It's a short walk to Lake Merritt and a bunch of great restaurants. I highly recommend living here.

I toured with Tianti. It has a great location near lake Merritt and close to food and bars. I haven't decided yet but definitely one of my top choices.

I toured Alta Waverly and Isaac and Louie do a great job keeping things in order and working. Also, shout out to their gym with the great view.

I'm giving Alta Waverly a three star review, to be fair and balanced in the pros and cons that we experienced while we lived there. We LOVED Christina! Pros: Management and staff were extremely friendly and helpful! The building is new and the amenities are very nice particularly if you have a unit with a balcony, the built-in closet, and upgraded primary shower. Also, it is extremely convenient to both Whole Foods and target as well as Lake Merritt. Unfortunately, for the majority of the time we lived there, everything around it was closed or extremely limited due to Covid. Cons: Despite the apartment building being new, it has some significant flaws. One of them being soundproofing between the floors. Our first apartment was unit 625, a very large corner unit with awesome views. It was also the most expensive unit in the building. However the apartments in that part of the building sit directly beneath the rooftop amenities and we could hear every time somebody walked across the tiles, dragged a chair or table across the tiles or banged against one of the gas heaters -- from morning to late in the evening. Luckily, because we were the second people to have rented it within a year, management was receptive to our request to move to a different unit which we did. But even in that unit we could hear the people below us. If you're looking for an apartment on the six floor and are sensitive to noise just be aware of where it is located in the building. The second flaw is that this apartment building only has two elevators and one of those is dedicated to freight. Many many many times we were stuck waiting for an elevator down or up because one was locked off for people moving in and out and many times the other elevator simply stopped working. Also while we were there, there were chronic problems with the exterior garage doors on both levels. Often the doors were stuck open, totally removed, and on more than one occasion people were simply locked inside or outside -- because the doors were inoperable. Because I regularly went to the garage to clean our car, I ran into homeless people down there several times. The last flaw was lack of patrol of assigned PAID parking spots. Many many many times we would go to the store and come back and find someone parked in our spot. Management told us to put a note on their car but never really did anything to solve the problem. The only thing that seem to help was when we bought a no parking sign on Amazon.

I've been living here for 9 months and I cannot say enough about this building. I even got one of my bffs to move from SF here to Oakland. The building is very well maintained and it's situated in the heart of downtown Oakland. I love my apartment and having AC and laundry in apartment is THE BEST. Alta Waverly is a stone's throw from Lake Merritt. Biiig shout out to Meshana for being an incredible property manager and Mac for being my first point of contact for AW--and the reason why I moved here.

In September, I toured Waverly with a friend - as we were both curious about the new offerings in the neighborhood. We toured only about 10 of the many new developments in Oakland... Alta Waverly had something special... Not only are the apartments beautiful and nicely appointed. The amenities are plenty (if you are like me and NOT needing to share a pool or hot tub with your neighbors). And, the overall vibe of the building is amazing. Unlike some of the other "luxury buildings" in the neighbohood - Waverly has a warm artisitc and homey feeling. Needless to say, I fell in love with a unit and signed a lease posthaste (taking advantage of their great promo) ... I have been at the Waverly for a month, as of today... and it is - honestly - by far the best place I have ever had the honor to call home. The onsite and temporary staff are second to none in terms of friendliness, kindness, attentiveness, and - actually - authentic caringness. I initially toured with Elizabeth (who was fantastic and saldly later learned was a temp) - but worked with Melissa on the paperwork, etc. Fast, profressional, and just down right great. For weeks before I moved in, I'd walk by with my dog. Joseph would always make time to greet me - and ask/invite me to "visit" my apartment and/or the rooftop dog area to aclimate my pooch. Always a smile, a hello, a wave - every.single.time. in fact - i think the whole team - Melissa, Joseph, Becca, Candice, Vicente and Norma are all key ingredients in making the daily life at Waverly special. The apartment itself is stunning - comfortable - well appointed - QUIET - and peaceful. The resident events are a nice touch to get to know one another - so far everyone is great and there is certainly a budding sense of community. The 24 hour amenities are fantastic - comfortable - and always well tended. All in all, I love living at the Waverly. The kind, authenticness of the staff in addition to the beautiful living space make this property unique and - in my opinion - more like a home than a hotel - unlike the other new "luxury" buildings in the neighborhood. Thank you Melissa, Joseph, Becca, Vicente and Norma for making me feel at home. I am honored to have you as neighbors and new friends. I look forward to the months (and hopefully years) to come at the Waverly.

Alta Waverly is home, welcoming, friendly. The building is clean. the staff is amazing always ready to help. I love that the building is easy access to freeway and Bart. There is always something fun happening. Great experience. Come and live with us . Marie

Lovely show on their rooftop! My friend that lives there seems super satisfied, and it was great meeting her neighbors too. All good people. I hear their events are great, particularly for those who have moved out here and don't know many folks quite yet! Great people working the building too.

Love it here. Lived here for 3 months so far and my wife and I love it! We love the rooftop, the parking accommodations, and how updated our apartment is. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

We toured this community, along with all of the others in the area. The person who sets the pricing structure for the Alta Waverly is extremely out-of-touch, unaware of the market, and should honestly probably be fired. I'll go further into detail below, but they not only haven't realized that nearly all of their competitors are offering much greater incentives and better amenities/apartments, they actually RAISED their prices. Despite having most of the units we toured almost a month ago still available. D'oh. Well, that's embarassing. The community was fine enough -- I liked the maker's space, and the apartments were fine (although many of them have a beautiful *sic* view of a tower construction site that will be under construction until 2021... have fun with that)... and the leasing agent was nice. But, no pool. The "dog play area" is laughable compared to other nearby options. No trash chutes. Ugly interior design. Cheap finishes. It was clear that they cut a lot of corners. All of that would be fine, if the price checked out. But when all was said and done, we were able to *SAVE* an EXTRA $5000 over the lease term and move into a high-rise with a pool, 100 extra square feet, and floor to ceiling windows. The leasing agent tried to convince us that their "deal" with $100/mo discount on the rent was better than an extra $5000 if we were "in it for the long-term" ... well, do the math. We would have had to live there for over 4 years to just break even on their "deal". My advice is to shop around. This place is out of touch and doesn't realize what they're competing against. Their apartments are over-priced for the current market, period. You can get much better, for less, elsewhere.

I recently relocated to the Bay from Brooklyn and am loving this building and community! I saw over 10 other properties and this was by far the best -- amazing location by the lake, restaurants, finishes, communal spaces and amenities that go just a step above and beyond for residents are actually useful (outdoor rooftop tv, fire pits, heat lamps, grills, yoga studio, fitness center -- with a peloton etc). The property management team (Joseph, Melissa & Becca) have been so thoughtful and helpful! Major shout outs to Joseph especially who was super accommodating and helpful as I was touring! The views are awesome and decor in common areas is really stunning. A great value for my investment!

Great value. Nice amenities. I really enjoy all the resident events they have put on, especially the covid safe events. Great location. Only complaint is sometimes other tenants don't respect the shared amenities.

Moving to Alta Waverly was one of the best decisions that I took. Everything here was really smooth. Apartments have state of the art fittings and I am in love with the outdoor spaces and the fitness room. But, also most importantly, the support staff is really nice and friendly. Becca and Melissa are superstars. They genuinely take interest in the well being of the people and the community which is what separates this from other places.

Moved here in Dec 2020 during COVID. Picked this place because one of the few layouts in the market with a 1 bed with a study/den. Staff during viewings and lease signing were pleasant but could be more timely with responses. Good amenities - rooftop deck, dog run, couryard with grills, gym. In a decent area close to restaurants, bars, Target, Whole Food and Lake Merritt.

Great service from leasing office. Always a community event going on (live music,happy hour). Just truly a joy to be here. Apartments are super lovely and the amenities are top tier.

Joe, Becca, Melissa and team were such a pleasure to work with. From the first day we walked in to tour the building to the day we signed the lease, everyone was very accommodating! You are always treated like family. Whether you have a question about the building or just about the area in general, the team is always there for you. The building itself is amazing. All appliances are brand new, you'll be the first one using them! Amenities are the best in the area as far as apartment buildings go. And you are perfectly located, next to awesome bars/restaurants and super close to the 19th st Oakland BART stop. I can't recommend this place enough!

Although we focus in the negative more than positive; there are those who take the time to write review. More personalized and appreciated is when residents take time to write a note and hand deliver it. This letter was issued to Vicente the service manager.

We did a tour with Christina, and had such a wonderful experience! Christina is one of the friendliest people we've met on an apartment hunt, and the building really does seem to be one that cares about its residents - though we weren't able to move in this lease term, we're definitely keeping Alta Waverly at the top of our list in the future!
