The 37 Best Restaurants in Milan, Italy | Eater

"Altatto’s ethereal spin on vegetarian fine dining is a pleasant break from Milan’s meaty fare, but don’t expect the highly conceptual menu to be a snooze. The two chef partners — Sara Nicolosi and Cinzia de Lauri — met at Joia, where they worked with chef Pietro Leemann. In the warm, spartan interior or in the hidden outdoor courtyard, you’ll find a rotating vegetarian tasting menu with dishes like crispy porcini mushrooms with wild foraged herbs, or buckwheat gnocchetti with sweet potato slow-cooked in clay. The chefs deploy an element of surprise in every course and pair meals with a selective list of natural wines. Best for: Anyone who appreciates vegetables crafted like works of art." - Elizabeth De Filippo-Jones

Altatto Bistrot

"Situated on the edge of old Milan, this former bakery has been converted into a tiny restaurant serving vegetarian cuisine in a contemporary-style setting. The two tasting menus include delicious, colourful and beautifully presented dishes which can also be ordered à la carte. Booking is essential." - Michelin Inspector

Since I moved to Milan I heard about this restaurant so after 2 years I decided to finally make me a birthday present and I booked a table (quite a few weeks in advance, make sure you do the same if you would like to try it). I was literally amazed by everything I tried, even by the pasta... What can I say? If you have the chance, try it!

Amazing! Great vegetarian food in a exquisite place We did a 4 course menu and we were happy and full! The wine selection is vast, and the explosion of flavors is amazing . Upon arriving they request for allergies and always have a variation on the menu. Highly recommended !

We dined with the 6 course tasting menu and wine pairing! We enjoyed the food and kind service! The flavors of each dish were unique and distinct. Certain dishes had an interactive experience that was very fun!

The best food we had the entire trip! And it was entirely vegetarian! The food is absolutely out of this world! They do a 4 course or a 6 course tasting menu. we decided to get the 6 and I’m so glad we did! It started off with a takoyaki amuse bouche, rice paper and cream, then a sweet potato and pita and you could build your own sandwich with brûlée roasted red pepper sauce, vegan mayo, and a fennel and dill salad, 2nd course was the tempura fried squash flowers, salad with strawberry gazpacho, 3rd course was the berry risotto, 4th is pesto gnocchi, then we got another amuse bouche that was a chocolate shell filled with gin tonic (I usually don’t like gin but this was great), 5th course vegan cheese plate with pickles, tempeh and cherries. 6th course the frozen yogurt, basil, and cherries. Not only is the food fantastic and cohesive but it all was only $65 euros for the whole tasting menu. The staff is so friendly and helpful, I highly recommend getting a reservation as it’s a very small minimalist type restaurant. If you’re ever in Milan whether you eat meat or not you should definitely come and try this place!

We had a phenomenal dinner experience at Altatto while in Milan! We did the 4-course vegan menu and my partner (non vegan) loved it! They had the most unique dishes (tempura battered zucchini flowers to vegan takoyaki) and they were so thoughtful and creative. We also got all these extra things, like a yuzu shot and this cotton candy on a twig! It was all so interesting and delicious! One of our favorite meals in all of Italy! It is apparently Michelan star recommended, but definitely deserves a full star! We highly recommend going here.

Took my daughter here for her 21st birthday. I was reminded that I have taste buds. Each entree was flavorful in interesting ways. Beautiful too. The wine pairings were very interesting, including a cider-type drink. Most wines were from northern Italy. The service was attentive. Could have been a bit friendlier. Overall, a great experience.
