Altrokè

So lovely we came back for a second visit! Big thanks to Milan, who served us - he was very knowledgeable about the fantastic Slovenian wines on offer, and made perfect suggestions to match our dishes and our tastes. The food was sensational - especially the octopus carpaccio, the venison, and the beef spare ribs. Book here when you visit Ljubljana!

Not the first time visiting Altroke, but our first time for Restaurant Week and have to say - I'd stay here for the whole week. It started with great staff, who are always kind and helpful. Every course, from the delightful "Greeting from the Kitchen" to the indulgent dessert, was a culinary masterpiece. The atmosphere was inviting, and the food was simply outstanding. While we focused on savoring the flavors, we couldn't help but admire the creativity and skill behind each dish. Would take more pictures but we just went for the food. The Chef and the team did an amazing job, as always, with ideas that would never come to my mind when creating dishes. Outstanding experience with a personal touch, making us eager to return. And for sure it's not only value for money, but also for your stomach. See you soon!

For lunch, hard to do better value-wise. 18€ gets you three courses - when we went, green pea soup (very refreshing even when warm), either fish or meat (both very well-prepared and flavorful; the mashed potatos with the beef cheek being particularly rich), and a small dessert (brownie with raspberry coulis). Some local affordable wines by the glass as well. Service was fine, nothing amazing but nothing offensive. At this price worth walking past other restaurants in the town center for a nice meal.

Great food for amazing price. But i ended sitting next to a room aroma infuser and that ruined the atmosphere as well as the experience at the end as it took me a while to figure it out. The restaurant was quite empty, which was to be expected for the late lunch hour, but I was not encouraged to choose another place. However, on me as well as i did not complain, but suffered in silence.

I decided to have dinner at this place because it has a Michelin rating and the menu looked good but it was disappointing. The menu is a bit misleading because the pricing for the dishes states 15 euros for 100grs but I wasn’t aware my steak was going to be more than 100gr so it ended up being 60 euros and not worth it at all since at least half was fat. I ordered steak which came with potatoes and vegetables. The food is just ok, nothing special and very overpriced for what you get. I wouldn’t dine here again.

This restaurant receives a lot of excellent reviews. It is not cheap. The menu indicates the main of venison includes truffles. There wasn’t a hint of truffle in my dish and it was served on a very chipped plate. I reported both of these to the wait staff but received no feedback. My other dishes were excellent.

We stumbled upon this restaurant and we’re glad that we did! The octopus appetizer was delicious. Service was great and the atmosphere was cozy. The cauliflower steak (pictured) was also very yummy! We also had the veal which we would also recommend.

We got here thanks to guide Michelin. The 3 courses Lunch was very good The fish in particular was very well cooked. Service is ok not great. Our waiter was friendly but not very focused on service We recommended the restaurant to people staring at the restaurant trying to understand what the restaurant was offering. It would be good to clearly advertise what is served rather than showing a noodle drawing that is very confusing
