Altuna Boutique Taberna is an absolute must when visiting Donostia-San Sebastián — especially if you’re here with family and want to experience truly incredible Basque and Spanish-influenced cuisine. We are a family of six (4 adults and 2 teenagers), and on a rainy, cold evening we arrived early for our reservation. The chef, who was preparing for the night, welcomed us in without hesitation and treated us like family. With his little English and our little Spanish/Basque, we connected instantly — it felt like visiting relatives we hadn’t seen in years. We began with a beautiful Muga Rioja, a smooth, perfectly balanced wine that set the tone for the night. Then our tasting menu dishes began to arrive one by one — each plate the perfect size, each flavor distinct, mouthwatering, and impeccably prepared. We assumed the “little bites” might not be filling, but we were pleasantly surprised… by the end, we were happily stuffed. Every single item was delicious. We are very particular eaters and do not eat pork, and both the chef and waiter were incredibly accommodating. They understood immediately and curated everything flawlessly. They also quickly realized I was the one organizing the dinner, and they made sure everything flowed smoothly for our whole group. We laughed, we ate, and we enjoyed an unforgettable evening in a warm, welcoming atmosphere that truly felt like home. Locals and tourists packed the restaurant all night — and for good reason. We cannot recommend Altuna Boutique Taberna enough. We would come back again and again… and highly suggest you add it to your must-visit list in San Sebastián

Aptly named to include the words "boutique" and "taberna," Altuna Boutique and taberna serves surprisingly creative and delicious foods that one can share for two, adroitly, respecting the farm fresh ingredients while enhancing flavor and character out of varied traditions including French and Italian and, I think, international Cuban. There is fun and joy in the vibe of the food and even the background music. We had lobster ravioli with sea urchin and cashews and marinated muscles as well as seasonal scallops with lobster claws and dried fruits and seaweed and sweet potato and plantain and eel sauce. Both so different and tasty, with a vibe also of traditional Basque food. The wine and cocktail list was varied and surprising, including even rum! You will enjoy the delicious and surprising food in this generous and hospitable place!

Quaint, neighborhood feel. Delicious creative comfort food. The lobster, scallop, hearty sauce with snap peas was an unusually delightful combination. Very affordable and approachable indulgence.

Every dish was bursting with flavor. Best to go when not in a rush or hungry, since the dishes come out one at a time. Staff are friendly too!

Was probably the best food we had in San Sebastian this time. And it is really difficult here! Because San sebastian is all about food! We had jamon for starter and it was excellent. Exactly the right temperature and very thin cut. Then we had ravioli with lobster and it was to die for! And then the stoffed meat of chuletta. Also excellent. The only minus point is furniture: chairs look quite outdated. Location of the restaurant is also very nice . Can definitely recommend it for lunch or dinner!

We just had the most amazing food. Sharing plates were superb 👌 and the steaks were cooked to perfection. We had a wonderful young woman serve our table. Wish I got her name. All of the staff were friendly, welcoming and professional. Big thank you

Altuna Boutique Taberna was just across the road from our hotel. They managed to seat us at the bar without a reservation (although recommended). Everything we had was delicious. Definitely try Grandma's garlic soup!!!

Glad to have had dinner at Altuna. It has a relaxing atmosphere which was really needed after few days eating at pinxtos bar. Food is amazing, the quality of the ingredients and sophisticated and balanced combination of flavours make it a great experience. Service is great, very professional, polite and easy to communicate with. I would definitely go back and recommend the place to whom might be looking to have pleasant time and still be able to have a conversation with friends, partners, family.
