"Alvarado Street Brewery is a Northern California favorite, so it’s worth a stop in town to get a sampling of the beers that put it on the map for beer fans. Try the latest offerings or go with the hoppy IPA dubbed You’re Right on Time or an easy-drinking American lager like Alvarado’s Monterey Beer. Meanwhile, for food, visitors can enjoy the newly launched Bar Pie pizza program or dig into a wagyu smash burger should the mood strike." - Lauren Saria, Paolo Bicchieri, Dianne de Guzman

"Alvarado Street Brewery also has locations in Carmel and Salinas, but their Monterey outpost is the original, pouring a bunch of craft beer that pairs perfectly with a lineup of bar food. Taps rotate frequently, but they specialize in ales and sours, like strawberry-banana sour ale or tropical-flavored hazy IPA. Post up in the cozy beer garden out back and order some quesabirria tacos, poutine, loco moco, or fish and chips." - allison green

"The bartenders and brewmaster here fit the profile of classic California beach towners. as such, they’ll happily chat you up and tell you all about the beers. In the outdoor beer garden you'll find a rotating, condensed menu of Alvarado Street’s finest suds, as well as beer to-go in growlers and bottles. Stick around for a cold Peninsular Pilsner—a clean and crisp German-style pils—or the malty Yeast of Burden pale ale." - Ana Kamin, Jenna Scatena

Came here on a recommendation from our hotel front desk worker. The food and their beers were great! Must try restaurant. I absolutely liked the calamari appetizer with Thai curry dipping sauce. The fish and chips was also among my favorites! Tried their beer flight and really liked numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5! (Check the pics for the beer info as numbered on the list!)

We really liked the space and ambience. It was too cold the day we were there to sit outside but it looked really nice. Service was friendly and timely. Seemed like a mix of locals and tourists dining for a weekday lunch. Food was good but could definitely be improved. Prices are high and portion sizes don’t match for some meals (fish and chips especially). Fish was excellent and burger was good. Steak sandwich was very fresh and well cooked but needs more spice and flavor. Chicken sandwich was too dry. Fries are good. Would definitely return to try other things.

Google
Amazing finding of this brewery.! We just loved the food and drinks, simple amazing and worth for its price. Parking is little difficult as it’s in the prime area. But inside the brewery it’s simple fabulous 👍 much recommended one for brewery lovers

Went at about 8 pm for a quick bite. Mondays special was a burger, fries, and a beer for $15. Best $15 I spent in California during our trip. The burger tasted great, the fries were hot, and the beer was cold. We sat next to the kitchen, and they were pumping out food fresh and fast. Definitely worth another trip next time we are in Monterey.

I am a total beer snob and I have to tell you how awesome their beer is here. I had 6 different beers and all were above average for microbrewery standards. This was absolutely a highlight of the area and I would definitely go out of my way to travel back here. Bartender Brian was super knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you!

Google
Started with saying we will need to wait for 30 minutes for outside seating when multiple tables available outside. That would be my only issue. If you were short staff I’d understand, telling me you are full and me seeing the available seating doesn’t look truthful. Atmosphere is really nice relaxing good for everyone. Food was cooked great I recommend the chicken tortillas soup and burger!

Google
For sure they have a large section of craft beers made by them and some other locals ones, but the food and dining experience here is fabulous. The menu is much more extensive than the typical brewery and the food has some good character and flavor to it. They have sit down service - the few times I've eaten here the waiter was respectful and efficient with ordering, accommodating, and serving the food. I recommend this brewery's dining function to those who are in a group of people 2-6 maybe 8. Of all of the items I have ordered here my favorites have been the birria tacos and tomato soup(soup varies depending on the day).

My first time visiting Alvarado Street and was warmly welcomed by our waitress Taylor, she provided such great service. She was so warm and friendly. She was attentive to us and made sure everything was good and that we were happy. Thank you Taylor for giving me such a positive experience. The smoked chicken wings and the special ahi tuna poke was so delicious! I will definitely recommend this place and come again!

Yelp
This place is rad. 5 stars on the beers, 5 stars on the food. Our waitress Steph K. has the best memory I've ever witnessed. Didn't write anything down and we have 6 people in our family, including drinks. She's amazing! Thank you steph and thank you Alvarado street brewing. Fantastic job Update: January/2024: still bomb

Yelp
We loved Alvarado so much that we went to the location at Carmel By the Sea, and the one in Monterey twice during our 5 day trip. I especially liked that the Monterey location had some different beer on tap that Carmel didn't have. We also lucked out and were there for a bourbon barrel aged beer drop. Their brewer Wade was great to converse with. I was also stoked that they tapped the BBA stout to try it on tap. Their food is also solid. We really enjoyed the calamari at Carmel. At the Monterey location I tried the wings and the spicy chicken sandwich. My husband and I both thought the food was great. I loved that the wings were dry rubbed. It is hard to find a brewery that not only serves good beer, but has great food too. I would highly recommend. I can't wait to come back to visit. Make sure to get a reservation for dinner on the weekends. Enjoy!

Theresa L.

Yelp
I'm not a beer drinker but a lot of my friends love the beer here. Their food is also pretty decent. The space is quite large so it seems like there typically isn't a wait to get seated here. Came here with my family and the servers were so nice and accommodating to us as we were with a younger child. Something nice is that you can also buy their bottled beers to go once you finish your meal, which we definitely took advantage of.

Madie D.

Yelp
Incredible vibes. I make sure to stop here every time I'm in town and cannot recommend it enough. They always have such fun beers/sours/ciders to choose from - it's hard not to do a flight. The service is speedy and they have a ton of indoor/outdoor seating so I've never had to wait too long for a table, even on a busy Saturday afternoon. I decided to try the tacos this time and was a little unimpressed by the lack of crunch to the taco shell, but the flavors were still delightful. I can't say I usually go for the food, but the beers are phenomenal.

Suraj P.

Yelp
This place is always a great time and has an awesome patio in the back! The beer and food is delicious, love to try some of their new beers every time I come.

Gabe H.

Yelp
This place is always a banger. The wife and I love this place. The food is always tremendous. The drinks tremendous. The staff tremendous. Ambiance tremendous. drop!!

Yelp
Alvarado Street has many locations, but I visited their OG spot. It is in downtown Monterey and has been pumping out good food and booze since 2014. It was packed when we visited, but we grabbed a spot in the biergarten and ordered up some grub and got a flight of beer. Food we nommed on: Grilled Nectarine and Fig Panzanella Salad: Mamey purée, California nectarine and figs, burrata cheese, Castelvetrano olives, baby heirloom tomatoes, grilled croutons, basil oil The Pub Burger: Grilled Angus beef patty, American cheese, iceberg shredded lettuce, dijonaise, house pickles, tomato, Ad Astra milk bun, and added Avocado. Beers we drank: Simcoe Dependent West Coast IPA with 2023 Simcoe crop. Land & Sea XPA: An Extra Pale Ale brewed with 100% Nelson hops DDH Spooky Juice: A Hazy Double IPA with Waimea, Nelson, and Sabro Cryo. Howzit Punch: A Kettle Sour Ale with Passionfruit, Orange, and Guava. Biggie's Blueberry Brunch Bonanza: A Fruited Sour Ale inspired by Pie through Blueberries and Madagascar Vanilla Bean additions. ________________-

Yelp
Uniqueness: American/Fusion Bar Restaurant that serves EXCELLENT pizzas. Wait Time: [x][x][x][x][x] Food Quality: [x][x][x][x][x] Service: [x][x][x][x][x] Setting: [x][x][x][x][x] Cost: [x][x][x][x][ ] Recommendation? Highly recommend you come in at opening hour to avoid the lunch/dinner crowds coming in later. Get a pizza! One of the best bar/lunch/dinner spots to enjoy in Downtown Monterey, Alvarado Street Brewery stands out from the rest when it comes to enjoying a slightly higher end food than the typical touristy foods nearby. Beer selection here is top notch with so many choices to choose from and food quality has always been great here. You have pizzas, some seafood, salads, etc and all the food is sharable so everyone can enjoy a bit of every dish here. Kids menu was enjoyable for the kids as well and service overall was terrific; Our server made sure we enjoyed our meal and time here. Well worth the visit here but do note that the place does get crowded very easily! Come early or plan to reserve when you can. High recommendations from me and will definitely plan to be back for more.

Lori B.

Yelp
Omg we love this place. We sat at the bar and watched Brian do his thing. He's amazing. We didn't eat, we only drank. Delicious drinks. Great service. We will be back soon!

David G.

Yelp
We had an enjoyable lunch at Alvarado Street Brewery during a quick trip to Monterey. We arrived around noon, and the dining room was really cold, and this is coming from someone who is never cold. As usual, the food was tasty and the beers were on-point. My burger was pretty small for the price-point, but the flavor was great. Our friends who joined us were really impressed by the Old Town Pizza. I tried a slice and agreed. The parm cooked into the curst is excellent. The Mai Tai PA (beer) is worth the stop alone. I personally love everything about their beer offerings. The beer names are creative, and the flavors are incredible. We had decent service and overall fun time. Alvarado is worth a visit!

Vivian L.

Yelp
Came here for some drinks and they were all delicious! I recommend any of the cocktails, especially the espresso martini. I do have to mention that for some reason, the tap water tasted like fish... I couldn't drink more than a single sip. That threw me off so bad!! But otherwise the food smelled great but I can only speak for the drinks and they were yummy!

Edgardo M.

Yelp
Decent brewery with ok options for food. If you're in a pinch and other places are booked up then yeah come here. Overall nothing spectacular but nothing negative either.

Diem P.

Yelp
Possibly one of the best smash burgers I've ever had!! The double patties were perfectly crusty and layered with cheese and bread. We paired the burger with fig and peach salad to lighten up the meal...and topped with a nice cold Pilsner on draft. Perfection! Service was great! And outdoor seating was cozy on a beautiful day. Highly recommended lunch place!

Matt W.

Yelp
The back patio was legit. Great setting, TV was playing the MNF game. Ordered the Old Town pizza which had a spicy honey vibe and it was delicious. Wish it had come out a little hotter but it was still great. Then I ordered the birria tacos. Boomin' with flavor!! The dipping sauce was outstanding. Would definitely come back to try the burgers, if they taste anything like the pizza and tacos! The service was decent.

Monica T.

Yelp
Came here after my half marathon run in Monterey and this pizza was definitely what I needed. We got seated after about 15 mins but our food didn't come out for like 30 mins. I had a soda with the pizza because the caffeine was much needed. The servers were friendly, it was just a really packed day there. They had two different football games going on so the crowd was very excited and cheering on the game.

Lorean W.

Yelp
Every pilgrimage to Monterey starts with lunch at Alvarado Street. Every single time. They're assuredly the best brewery in all of California. Not a single weak link in their beer lineup, you could throw a dart at the menu and still be pleased as punch with whatever it landed on. The service is always top-notch--the servers are always so helpful with their suggestions, and they strike the perfect balance of taking care of you without hovering or disappearing. It's also such a neat space--from the front patio, to the open kitchen/brewery aesthetics in the main dining room, the bar inside, the back patio, there isn't a single bad seat in the house. Menu highlights for my most recent visit include the pork belly poutine (why doesn't ALL poutine come with pork belly?!) and the stone fruit pie; I'll be dreaming about that pie for a long while. Salty, sweet, zesty from the rocket, the perfect crisp on the crust, it is a credit to the chefs for dang sure!! If you haven't tried ASB for whatever reason, consider this your directive to remedy that immediately!

Jasmin M.

Yelp
Wow. I love the influx of breweries the past 5-10 years, but 1 out of 5 actually serve food and your girls gotta eat. Alvarado Street doesn't just serve food.. they SERVE food, and I appreciate that. The menu is risky but it works and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Parking is a little tricky downtown Service was great Love the brick building and quirky vibe. Can't wait to go again and/or try the other locations

Wesley L.

Yelp
A nice way to end the day after spending time in Monterey! Was recommended here by one of my friend's dad and told to get the wings. A little pricey for my liking and not super crunchy, but the flavor and juiciness if definitely there. Ordered a steak sandwich for my main entree and they did not skimp on the meat. Couldn't adjust how it was cooked since it was fajita style, but still done well. Traded with my friend who got their katsu sandwich which was tasty as well. Portions are pretty generous and with a nice sit-down restaurant atmosphere (cozy, date-night, beer garden in the back) Only miss of the night was their hot honey pizza. I've had it from other places before but something was off with the honey used (very runny consistency and overly sweet without the heat)

Cleo C.

Yelp
It hit the spot!! Steve was a great server. He remembered everything! The place is a pub/brewery with a few TVs, so it's really loud around dinner time. Not a first date place. Just put in ear plugs! So Monday night is burger/brew night with a ton of beer choices. I had the hefawiesen -- real light and fruity. The burgers were cooked just right and the Caesar salad was lemony! Overall, it was a very good meal!

Dave S.

Yelp
It been about nine years since my first review of this place so it's time for a update. It's still busy as ever maybe even a little more. The beers still cold and the food is still pretty good. The interior is pretty much the same as I remember. The staff was hustling and our waitress was friendly enough. Last words...if I ain't broke!

Ash R.

Yelp
If you're in Monterey and you're a fan of craft beer, you absolutely *have* to stop by Alvarado Street Brewery. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this place is a gem. The vibe is chill yet vibrant - perfect for a laid-back afternoon or a fun night out with friends. Whether you're inside or out on the patio, there's a great energy to the space, with cool industrial decor and a welcoming, modern feel. Now, let's talk beer - because that's why we're here, right? The selection is *amazing.* They've got a rotating tap list with something for everyone, from crisp, refreshing IPAs to rich, flavorful stouts. Every pint I've had has been on point. The **Hazy IPA** is a standout, with just the right balance of citrus and bitterness. If you're into barrel-aged brews, the **Imperial Stout** (if it's on tap) is an absolute must-try. Seriously, these guys know what they're doing. But it's not just the beer that makes this place shine - the service is top-notch. Everyone behind the bar is friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely seems to love what they do. The staff is always ready with a recommendation if you're unsure what to order, and they're quick to answer any questions you might have about their brews. And let's not forget the location - Alvarado Street Brewery is nestled right in downtown Monterey, so it's a perfect spot to grab a drink after a stroll through the city or before heading to one of the nearby restaurants. Plus, the outdoor seating area is great for people-watching on a sunny day. All in all, Alvarado Street Brewery is a must-visit. Great beer, great service, and a great atmosphere - what more could you want? Can't wait to come back next time I'm in town!

Frank T.

Yelp
Amazing vast micro brew selection. Smash burger was top notch. Place is HUGE. Close to convention center. Service perfect. Is my fav beer and bar grub in this area.

Joe H.

Yelp
Would like to start by commending the service here, we've got two young kids and they did a great job. Beers are fantastic, and food is good.

Edison H.

Yelp
Stopped by for quick bites and Sunday football games. The fish and chips were crispy on top but soggy on the bottom so that was a miss. We enjoyed the first slice of the stonefruit and brie pizza but it got cold and hard fast. Unfortunate because we particularly enjoy this unique style of pizza. The service could be better. The server was busy talking to her coworkers instead of checking in on us and giving us the check. Even though I'm giving this a 3 star this place is still worth a visit. They have a biergarten in the back and outdoor seating in front as well.

Sara A.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday on a quick weekend trip and couldn't have made a better decision. It was super busy but we knew it being a Saturday wait time was 40 min. We took off for a little walk and in 20 min we were seated. Drinks were ok but only really tried one each. The food out outstanding. The spicy skirt steak sandwich was cooked perfectly and seasoned great. The bread was toasted perfectly and had a lot of roasted peppers. The old town pizza was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. One or the best meals we've had at a brewery. It was busy so it was a bit loud but the music was good and the service was quick. Can't wait to come back.

Jes M.

Yelp
Even though the brewery was packed, the service was quick. Both the food and beer are super good. Had the dog with me so had to sit in the patio area and it was awesome back there. The football game was on too.

Christina H.

Yelp
The place is packed, the food is good and the vibe/atmosphere is great for lunch, dinner, watching sport game with friends, etc. there's also an outdoor sitting area.

Jessica P.

Yelp
this place is amazing to say the least!!!! I got a traditional Paloma drink and a smashburger! 10/10 recommend!!!!!!

Bahrah Y.

Yelp
This place doesn't just have great beer and drink selection, they also have some delicious food to pair with. If you're looking for a bar like restaurant this is a great spot. Also has a romantic feel to it so you can take your date here! This restaurant was probably a mile away from cannery row so if you'd like to walk there from your hotel you totally can. Our server Britney was amazing! She recommended a few beers and she didn't disappoint. The IPA's are soo good. We ordered the garlic fries as our appetizer and they hit the spot. Lots of garlic and love. I ordered the old town bar pie. It was a 10/10 for me. The hot honey was a great addition to the pizza. It was a thin slice pizza but the crispness and cheese was really great. My boyfriend got a burger and added candied bacon and he loved it. Finished it and was so satisfied. This restaurant will be a must every time I come to Monterey!

Dominic G.

Yelp
This place is super cool and in an awesome area, Carmel. The service was super nice and the menu all looked really good. The prices are very reasonable if you're not from Carmel, because prices can get ridiculously high in Carmel. I got a smash burger which I thought was pretty good. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of smash burgers but this one is the best one I have had. Honestly it could have used a bit more sauce but overall I was very satisfied with my meal. I would also recommend trying the cauliflower. Overall, I definetly would recommend! Edit: this restaurant is actually in Monterey (I got my trip mixed up) but my sentiments remain the same.

Denise R.

Yelp
Wow!! Brittney always delivers! The Monterey Velo Club makes Alvarado our local brewery for an after ride chat and beer. We so deeply appreciate the great customer service from Brittney and the Alvarado crew.

Izzie L.

Yelp
We tried their coffee drinks and I thought they were absolutely delicious! I don't think the coffee was *too* strong because I was drifting off to sleep not even an hour after finishing these drinks. + Espresso Martini [5/5] This was so icy, sweet, and tasty! I thoroughly enjoyed this drink! Alvarado makes it more creamy than a typical espresso martini. Service was nice, even though we came late at night.

Maui S.

Yelp
One of the best breweries in Monterey, Alvarado Street provides an extensive beer selection, quality food items, and a fun & friendly atmosphere. The service we had was professional, quick and pleasant. I'd highly recommend the fried calamari appetizer, the curry sauce it comes with is to die for!

Frank G.

Yelp
Very nice spot with a full bar & kitchen. Most indoor seats have a great view of the brewing equipment inside. Ordered their "It's Always Hazy in Monterey" IPA, which was delicious! Server was attentive to our order & even got a 6-beer flight right without writing it down! Impressive! Left with a 4-pack of their "Cold Pressed Hazy" IPA($19+tax), & highly recommend!

Youssef A.

Yelp
Food was below average, service was excellent, and ambience was really cool. Alvarado burger with 4 ounce patty was nothing compared to regular hamburger at Wendy's , yes, you're right Wendy's. 1/5. The beer battered fish was 3/5. If you choose to have garlic fries, you'll be paying four dollars extra and it's not even worth 50 Cent. So do not bother. Suggested tip comes also on the tax ... do I need to tip the state?!?!??? So if you are coming here for food, you are at the wrong place better go to Nick the Greek across the street. Or just do Wendy's. If you're coming here for a drink, and we did not drink, probably it's a good place. It has two seating areas on both sides, and the one in the back is bigger and more quiet. They have restroom on the second floor but they have an internal elevator, which is cool.

Alex H.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by this place as larger sized breweries can be hit or miss. It was packed but we got seated outside right away. They have an amazing location, right in downtown Monterey and they have indoor and outdoor seating areas. They have a front outdoor seating area which looks out onto the downtown shops and then a back outdoor patio which is filled with TVs, perfect to watch sports! Our food was pretty darn good too. My husband ordered the fish and chips and said it was really, really good fish and my chicken Caesar salad was also super delicious. The pretzel was meh so wouldn't recommend it. They have lots of local beer on drafts, and mixed cocktails to choose from. Overall, a great brewery and we would absolutely visit again!

Cecilia C.

Yelp
If you're deciding between the double smash burger and wagyu burger, hands down the smash burger wins. Service was good, but the place was quite packed on a weekend, so we were seated, asked for our order, and served our orders.

Chad G.

Yelp
Fantastic in every way. A top notch craft brewery and an incredible kitchen. They seem to specialize in hazies, but the Cashmere west coast IPA is one of the greatist beers I've ever had. It's rare for a place to be both great at brewing and also have an amazing kitche. But they pull it off. The wagyu burger is amazing and they had some incredible specials, including a crazy good sounding vegan dish, if you're into that sort of thing. The staff is super friendly and the place is always lively. Only possible issue is parking, but if you can walk a couple blocks it's a non-issue. There's no decision to be made, j

Nomani T.

Yelp
Food is excellent. Very reasonable pricing and wonderful tasting. A small variety of selections to choose from but they do it very well. The service is wonderful - it's usually very busy in there and can be quite noisy - just be aware - it's a brewery. The inside was clean and the employees were very good at making sure the tables were cleared off, cleaned, and ready for service. I ordered the KFC Chicken sandwich, my wife and daughter ordered the birria tacos. The sandwich was very delicious. Comes on toasted bread with a choice of seasoned or garlic fries. The chicken was perfectly panko (I think) breaded and cooked. Juicy and tasty. The birria tacos are a bit smaller than I'm accustomed to. They come with 3 but you can add a 4th taco. 3 tacos each, were just right for my wife and daughter. They do birria very well. The consume' is spot on. Lots of cheese. Delicious! We also had the everything pretzel with beer cheese. I forgot to snap a picture but it comes with 3 pieces (not a full twisted pretzel. Toasted with seeds - very hot and very tasty. We ordered 2 drinks and 1 water - all of the food with a tip came to $90 bucks. Very reasonable and well worth it. I recommend giving this place a try. If you're a beer drinker, they've got a giant selection to choose from. They also offer cans of their beer to go.

Michael S.

Yelp
One of several great local pubs in Monterey but definitely my "must visit" when I'm in town. The food and beers have been consistently excellent on all my visits. I usually sit at the bar and the service is first-rate: fast and FRIENDLY. The atmosphere is also excellent with a lively tap room and sweet beer garden space out back to enjoy Monterey's fine climate. Highly, highly recommended.

Kim D.

Yelp
I always make it a point to stop in here when I'm in Monterey. I am a huge fan of their sour beers and the ambiance in general. I've sampled a lot of the menu and some of it is hit or miss for me. I'd say my favorite is the chicken sandwich and the garlic fries. I liked the smash burger too although I wouldn't really call it a classic smash patty. Definitely get it with the bacon if you go for that... personally I'd recommend that one over the Alvarado burger. If you're going on a Friday or Saturday evening, you'll likely want to call ahead or prepare to wait at least 30 minutes because it's always hopping! Bonus tip: the patio makes for great people watching and is always my first choice.

Stephanie M.

Yelp
This is definitely a good place to stop for a bit to eat while exploring the Old Monterey area. It's a spacious and beautifully decorated restaurant. Their bar area is lovely. I really wanted to try one of their highly rated pizzas. Unfortunately, I knew I wouldn't have been able to finish an entire pie to myself, would have taken the leftovers back the hotel, and then never touched them again. I didn't want to be wasteful so I opted for a spring beet salad. OMG, that yogurt dressing alone was so good! I could have eaten spoonfuls of it. Also any dish that incorporates golden beets into it is a win from me. I wish there were more non-alcoholic options available on the menu. The hopp water I ordered was, well, just water. I probably could have worked with one of the very friendly and attentive bartenders on creating a unique mocktail. But I am a big introvert who doesn't want to be difficult and ask for things so I just let it be.

Althea D.

Yelp
Spent our anniversary weekend in Monterey and heard great things about Alvarado St. Brewery. We had such an amazing time! Everyone was so kind. We sat at the bar and all of the bartenders gave such great service. Brian, Jesus, and another lady bartender (I did not catch her name - so sorry) took great care of us and they were a lot of fun! Drinks were fabulous and food was awesome. The paella came out slightly undercooked, however the daytime bartender took care of the refire for me so kindly (right before he left) and it came out super tasty. I'm a bartender myself, and have been in the industry for 10+ years, and I have to give them 10/10 in all aspects. Thank you to everyone there who made our anniversary evening so much fun and special. We will forsure be back!

Jessica S.

Yelp
If you're looking for a hipster spot for drinks and grub with your friends, then Alvarado Street Brewery is your spot. Every time I've been in, they are super packed with lively crowds of folks eating, drinking and having a good time. The pros: - Seasonal menu (food, cocktails and beer) - Lively atmosphere - Friendly and helpful service The cons: - Very loud - Slow service - My Jerk Chicken Sandwich was very bland, but having been to Jamaica and eating Jerk right off the grill from a guy on the side of the road, I have a little bit of a bias. Everything else I've ever eaten there was pretty good. Overall, I will definitely be back.

Bally L.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stopped by for a beer and light snack before dinner. They have a number of beers, wines, and cocktails available. To munch on, we also ordered a side of calamari which was nice and crispy, pairing well with the cocktail sauce and aioli. *salad bowl (west coast IPA): tasted like a regular beer to me hahahahaha *howzit punch (POG sour): definitely recommend for all my people who don't really like beer Service is quick, the food/drinks are pretty good, and it's a nice place to socialize. The brewery also sells a handful of other larger dishes that we didn't try. If I'm ever back in the city, I'd love to revisit and try out other things!

Yelp
We came here at around 8:45 on a Monday night and waited about 10 minutes before we got seated. The restaurant feels very big due to its high ceilings and is pretty dark which fosters a pretty intimate atmosphere. What we got: Mai tai PA, Milk Stout, and howzit punch: all were pretty tasty in their own way. The Mai tai was hoppy and slightly sweet, milk stout was dark with the thick head of foam, and the punch had a sour kick to accompany the fruity POG flavors. Wings: The most prominent flavor on these was definitely smoke. They were dusted with paprika on the outside so there was that bit of sweetness. The wings were crispy and large, and the meat quality was really good. How many could I eat if the fate of the world was on the line? I'd say about 50. These were really good! Skirt steak: the meat was cooked really well and the chimichurri that came along with it gave it a nice freshness. The wedge salad that came on the side was simple and hit the spot. Yucca fries were crispy, but I think potato is still my favorite root vegetable. How many plates could I eat with the fate of the world on the line? 5. Meat and veggies were really good, but would be slowed down by the yucca. Overall, cool spot to kick it in downtown Monterey, and the food definitely was better than expected for a place named as a brewery!

Yelp
Stopped in during a weekend trip 2 weeks back...this place is really hard to beat! Great food, outstanding beers, and friendly customer service...it really has it all! Can't wait to come back the next time we're in Monterey- can't say enough good things about it.

Yelp
I've been to this location twice now and the Salinas location twice. i've enjoyed my self every time. Great beers always. and the Everything pretzel sticks and cheese and the stone fruit and brie bar pie are my favorites. The ambiance is fine. it's always lively with the sports ball games on the tvs. Its fairly loud so conversation is difficult at times. the servers and bussers have been pretty good. The irritating part was that this time we had a party of 5. i checked the website where it said call for reservations for parties of 5 or more. i called and the recording said they will take reservations for parties over 5 and to go to the website. i did and could not find any place to request a reservation. so i called again and talked to someone that said they only do reservations for 6 or more!!! so I get there early to save a table, my friends were due in about 15-20 minutes. they wouldn't seat me until "1/2 my group" was there. The bar was full so i couldn't even get a beer while i waited. Super irritating! fix your recording. fix your website train your reception staff.

Yelp
Alvarado is my favorite brewing company when it comes to craft beers. This place has been on my list to come visit and was glad I finally got a chance to check it out. The brewery/restaurant is a pretty decent size inside and they have an outdoor patio section where you can still order food and drinks. I'm a huge fan of sour beers and ordered the Howzit punch. I was a bit surprised they only had 2 on tap and the other one was more of a slushy and I prefer the kettle sours. For food we ordered the old town pizza, burgers, wings & a fried chicken sandwich. The old town pizza reminded me of a Margherita pizza with pepperoni on top. It had a lot of flavor from the basil and ricotta cheese. The burger was also really good. The wings were ok, I wasn't big on the seasoning that they used on them.
