Lovely bar with really good bartenders and good cocktails at a reasonable price for the area. I ordered a few on menu cocktails and a few off menu one s and some classics. Everything was really good and well made. It's a neat space and good for chat, date or just relaxing. They had live music the night I went and the music was good and inoffensive. One wierd minor detail. The bar itself is really, like really, well lit(great light for your photos!) . The rest of the bar is a nice dimmer lighting and is comfortable.

Google
Fun little bar, great music although the $20 cover was a little excessive. We saw a few local bands perform here and venue has great sound and good food! There are two stages, one on the floor where you enter, and one downstairs. No food allowed downstairs because they don't trust us hooligans.

The veggie tacos were so tasty! Excited this neighborhood spot is reopening

Google
The accoustics are good, give or take a few beeps and cocktail shaker sounds. I enjoy coming here for classical revolution. Yes, the bartenders know their metier.

Everyone that work there was great 👍🏾✌🏾 We were celebrating my cousin's birthday there. Great Place 5/13/2023

Google
Wow!!! I’ve been bad serve and then this bar, a little edge never hurts but the level of rudeness of both bartenders left me speechless, when asked for a glass I was shouted at and denied say glass saying they were running low on glasses!!! by 10pm the blond bartender left in a clear drunken state!!

Google
Live music, great beers on tap, decent pool table. Great spot for all of the above.

Google
Such a lovely atmosphere with an upbeat yet grounding feel. Some live piano drew me in and then kept me there with a wonderfully fulfilled surprise me drink request. Sean delivered excellent service and stellar drinks. Would love to come back anytime.

There are two stages, one on the floor where you enter, and one downstairs. No food allowed downstairs because they don't trust you hooligans. They have a whole bunch of live music events coming up, leaning bluegrass and country. Picture of the event list attached.

Yelp
Went here for an art exhibition on punk music (running through the end of '22 and it's fucking amazing). Very, very cool vibe. Friendly service and great drinks. There's a cool performance space downstairs and between the art and the music, there's always something poppin'. Amado's is SF done right. Loved it.

Yelp
I loved this underground music bar/venue! They had fantastic food - chef was very kind, passionate, and showed me some of his other dishes he created for other restaurants. The whole staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. And the most kudos to the bartenders who definitely knew their mixology and it showed in the drinks. Overall this place created the best atmosphere to enjoy with the ones I love and create memories I will never forget.

Yelp
My friend and I randomly discovered this as we were walking towards 24th Street to find a new bar. It was the music that attracted us. Blue grass to be specific. This is a bar that serves bar food, has a full bar (including mass produced beer) an upstairs seating area, a downstairs basement for comedy shows, and clean bathrooms. It's one of the things I just love about the Mission district, there's so many hidden gems in plain site that are worth investigating.

Yelp
Amado's is a very welcoming and lively bar. I've been there a handful of times in the last 6 months and I've always experienced great service, food and drinks. The bartenders have all been very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed their blackberry margarita, and the drinks I requested that were not part of their usual repertoire were still made perfectly. The food is delicious and is one of the more unique bar menus. I've been there for both a folk show and a burlesque show and both were a good time, but I highly recommend burlesque night. The venue downstairs is very intimate. They also have a pianist come occasionally who is very talented and takes requests. The rotating art displays are always a fun surprise when you come in too. I have never had a bad time here and I look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
Love Amado's. There aren't ton of places where you can always pop in and catch live music for free, and I love the variety. Always a good time.
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
Still love the place. Food = superior. Service = stellar. Ambiance = top notch. Entertainment = of the upmost taste (coming from a music snob). Drinks = yum!

Yelp
My friends and I randomly stumbled into Amado's on a Friday night while walking around in the mission. The drinks were reasonably priced, but the vibe was.. interesting (I think, in part, due to the fact that most of the people there appeared to be over 30)
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! Great cocktails and awesome bartenders. Cool music venue in the Mission. The burlesque show is my fav.
google avatar

Patrick S.

Yelp
Stumbled in here by accident. I think this used to be a furniture store. They used to do illegal shows in the basement. Now they have all the permits. Caught a good American roots band called Nashville Honeymoon. Elegant balcony seating above the main bar. Dog friendly. Pool table. Mexican food. Good service. I'll be back.

Yelp
only reason for 2 stars is the food being delicious but ridiculously priced. the staff at this place are SO RUDE. my group came yesterday, the bartender was literally snapping at us and everyone around him (and i mean literally snapping his fingers in peoples faces). the manager (i think) put his hands on me to ask me to stop leaning on the bar. rather than asking me first, he hit my arm about 5 times to get my attention, and then told me i couldn't lean on the bar i was ordering at. okay? with no one in the place they sure were acting like it was an inconvenience to serve us. food is good but also could find the same quality cheaper literally anywhere else. now reading other reviews: seems like it's time to fire the rude ass bartender? short white bald guy, think he's gotta go

K L.

Yelp
AMADOS is one of the best music venue's in San Francisco. The place is awesome. Evan makes really good drinks, over all we had a great experience.
google avatar

Isaac F.

Yelp
One of if not the coolest bar in San Francisco. There's always something super unique and special happening every time I'm in there. Where else can you grab a drink in the heart of the mission whilst being serenaded by a professional opera singer, or lounge out and listen to a classical quartet? The food rules, the drinks are great, and the ambiance is fantastic. Ask for Nicole, she's the best bartender this side of the Mississippi.
google avatar

William Y.

Yelp
In the Mission, there are establishments that has been around for decades, other establishments trying to be a solid neighborhood establishment, regardless of gentrification, or are an agent of gentrification. This place reminded me of a pub in Edinburgh, Scotland. Retro music, no douchebags, no pretentiousness. The Bouncer and Bartenders were all down to Earth yet attuned to what needs attention. Definitely was a welcomed surprise coming here, and will be back again. You cannot be complaining of an establishment that is awesome, unless you are just an entitled a***hole, it a "Karen" world these days, but this place is anything but.
google avatar

Tyler C.

Yelp
$15/drink. They sounded exciting but it was not that great. Live music was cool. Might give it another shot. Super scared after reading the other reviews though. I think both the angry bartender and bouncer are still employed
google avatar

Alyssa A.

Yelp
Came here last night for a comedy show. Great space downstairs. Just cocktails, no food. I got the margarita slushie, and they allow dogs inside
google avatar

Nicole H.

Yelp
Great location, great ambiance, great service, great food, great music. Different events always happening. Ask for Nicole she's the best!

Apple a.

Yelp
Ambiance is awesome the drinks are awesome the bands are awesome the people are awesome! I really like this place the only pitfall is the angry guy running the mediocrity music. I overheard him telling some of the musicians that they don't need to do this or that. I wanted to say shut the f$&@ up you pathetic loo$er! it's hard enough to get the balls to get up on stage playing infront of people with out some washed up guy telling you that you suck. I wanted to give the rest of the staff but this guy wrecked it for me

Theresa G.

Yelp
Great bar and the feel of a night club and a good neighborhood. An exciting music venue down stair and other shows and music up stair and other shows I have a great time every time I go. The bartenders make excellent drinks!! Nicole is my favorite bartender. She always checked on me when I sat at the bar. Great energy and excellent drinks!!
google avatar

Kelsey C.

Yelp
What a great gem in the Mission! Good drinks, friendly staff, and constant cool events and live music. I've been going there for a few months now and there has been everything from live opera to burlesque shows. The food is also delicious--love the ceviche.
google avatar

Kelly G.

Yelp
I love this place!! Service has improved greatly. Drinks are yummy! They have a great variety of shows - from drag to piano to rock, they have something for everyone. I love the ambiance here, the upstairs area is a vibe. I had my birthday at Amado's last December and it was beautifully decorated, the bartenders welcomed me and even let me request a few songs to help make my birthday the best. They allow outside food but also have a pop-up kitchen which is always tasty and they can accommodate for vegetarian/vegan. There is a pool table as well!
google avatar

Matthew P.

Yelp
Great bar, there's two levels to it. Friendly service and they had this mystery shot special this night. Will come back if I'm in the area and want a drink.
google avatar

Rebecca R.

Yelp
This place used to be the amazing Viracocha. While it looks mostly the same inside, the chill happy energy is gone. Went to see live music and we could not understand a darn thing the music entry sea hag who was checking tickets was saying through her mask with extremely loud music blaring at the same time. She angrily snapped at me when I told her I didn't know what she was asking. The vibe felt seedy and rough. Sounds like other people had similar experiences from the other reviews. I am so bummed this place kinda of sucks now. The new owner has this beautiful space and great location. What a waste. Someone else deserves to be running this special space. Might only go again if there's a good show.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
The bartenders are awesome and so nice. The music upstairs and down is amazing! Love this place!
google avatar

Zay T.

Yelp
My drink wasn't made properly so there was a bunch of nasty, super sweet pineapple syrup at the bottom. It was awful. They don't have any clear signs or instructions for their masking policy, and my party and I were harassed by one of the the bartenders for not keeping our mask on in between sipping our drinks. This bartender could have simply said, "excuse me, but would you mind wearing your mask in between sips? It's our policy." Instead, they went off: yelled at us for a good 5 minutes or so, and then looked at the friend who brought us to the bar and said "Maybe you're too drunk to follow what I'm saying..." By that time, we had put out masks on immediately after they the first time they asked. We apologized, but they kept going! They were like a little chihuahua who just couldn't stop barking. It felt like they had taken out all of their life and work frustrations on us, people who were giving them our business. We weren't loud or rude or disrespectful, and we even showed vaccination cards in order to come in. Please stop making disgusting, undrinkable, sugary ass drinks. Please tell your staff not to take their mental health issues out on patrons. I had a party of 5, and none of us are coming back to your bar despite living in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Rajman R.

Yelp
Always closed before closing time....rude staff!! Other than that I kinda like this place, but the cons outweigh the pros.
google avatar

Suparna J.

Yelp
The staff at Amado's are rude and have no sense of reasoning. We were there to watch a comedy show and I forgot to carry my ID. I understand if you cannot let me know for that reason but the way he talked to us was down right rude. No idea why he is in service industry when he cannot handle customers trying to reason with him. Never coming back and I recommend that you don't go there.
google avatar

Justin B.

Yelp
Didn't let us use the restroom with 30 minutes left before they close. Not really a great bar either
google avatar

Yelp
I've walked by here a few times, and every time thought "that has to be the coolest looking bar ever." I'm just a sucker for chesterfield sofas and mezzanines. Anyway, I finally came here with a few friends for a "Classical Revolution" Monday night, and the group we saw was decidedly not classical music - free jazz would be a more accurate description. Nonetheless, something really interesting happened: the crowd of about 20 observed the musicians in almost complete silence. As in, not saying a word. I actually appreciated it - this is just something you don't see much. Having said that, I still think you could've had a conversation during the performance, just not in the front half of the venue, where the musicians were seated. Also interesting: there was no cover, and the wait for service at the bar was nil. Almost like most of the patrons got to enjoy the show for free and without buying a drink. I don't know if this is sustainable, but it sure seemed cool. I'd love to go back.

debbie g.

Yelp
If you're looking for bluegrass music this place is great! They host a bluegrass jam every Wednesday evening at 7 followed by one or more bands at 8:30. We've seen several great bands over the last few Wednesdays, sometimes a cover sometimes not. Only complaint is no ADA seating downstairs! Tough for older patrons! Otherwise this place is a real gem. Parking lot nearby at $5.00/hr.

Amanda G.

Yelp
Super awesome bar with cool unique bands! Great sound system and the staff is very friendly and helpful, highly recommend!

Mark K.

Yelp
Fun place to grab drinks, Nicole is our favorite bartender! Going upstairs is better for a more intimate experience w friends
google avatar

Anjali K.

Yelp
Great place to play pool and have some drinks with friends! Decent vibe on a Thursday night, not empty but not too crowded either.
google avatar

Armon A.

Yelp
The staff were amazing people. Especially the lone bar tender holding it down during crazy rushes in between sets. Great venue to see local music!

Yelp
I came here with my friends after walking around Valencia St, trying to find a cool place to hang out. Found this new spot which seemed like a nice place to hang out. We were greeted at the door and advised on COVID rules, the guy at the door asked for our vaccine cards and stated that we must keep our mask on the entire entire unless actively drinking. This place is a bar, which offers no food so according to their rules, you can put your mask down when you are actively sipping on your drink. We ordered three rounds and I was the only person on my group constantly sipping on my drink, which meant I had to pretty much keep my mask down 80% of the time. The entire time I was there, I could see the guy at the door constantly keeping an eye on me, watching me non stop. I didn't think it was a big deal since i was following the rules, putting my mask down when I was sipping on my drink. Sometime during our third round, the door guy starting harassing me and my friends about me not following COVID rules. Keep in mind that other patrons in the bar constantly had their masks down and the door guy never seemed to have a problem with them, he even had conversations with them and was laughing with them. The door guy came up to my friends and I and started accusing us of breaking the rules and told us we needed to leave. We said we would leave and walked out the door. While we were standing outside on public property, this guy followed us outside and started berating us and telling us we needed to walk away and leave the street. At that point, we felt like he was personally targeting us for some unknown reason, maybe because we didn't fit the mold of the current clientele.. he had no problem seeing other people with their masks down the whole time we were there. We asked to speak to the manager. Jen came out and she spoke us and I must say she was very respectful and understanding of the situation. It was so disappointing to experience this sort of behavior in the mission. We have been long term residents of the mission neighborhood and it's sad to see members of the restaurant industry treat certain people differently. We will never be back to this spot based on our experience.
google avatar

Ashley A.

Yelp
Super disappointed in the level of service and also professionalism. I would hope for more out of a 'neighborhood' establishment.

Lauren A.

Yelp
Hi! I am not a review person but as someone who's worked in the Industry for so long the service here is not okay :( The drinks and food were 10/10, the staff is what ruined our experience. They're extremely hostile and seem as if they're truly unhappy to be there. I get we all have our days but it was every single staff member. Atmosphere was super cool though, we'll probably go back to give it a second chance so hopefully it'll be better the next time!
google avatar

Ariyan D.

Yelp
Good selection of cocktails and awesome bartenders. Liz and Dan are great, they're friendly and very responsive. Also, they make strong and tasty cocktails.
google avatar

Adam D.

Yelp
They don't give a fuck about covid there. Drinks take forever and it's crammed with maskless people spilling into the street. Live music is kinda subpar to put it nicely. It's a chill if you want to over pay for a drink/beer that takes forever and possible catch/ spread covid tho.

Emily L.

Yelp
Spent a great Sunday evening here...wandered in here in my own. Groups and other solo drinkers. Good beer selection..probably good cocktails, though I didn't try one. Pianist playing some amazing Tues!
google avatar

Alexei K.

Yelp
Great bar, music, and atmosphere until you approach an angry and buzz-killing bartender. For no particular reason, she was mad and made me and others feel extremely uncomfortable. Clearly, she is not happy too be there.

Cathy M.

Yelp
Cute music venue but there were no seats! You have to stand up the entire three (3) hours of a show. We were bummed by this because we were so excited to see Wyatt! You also have to walk up and down the stairs to get a drink or go to the restroom.
google avatar

Sydney M.

Yelp
the vibe is verrrry weird and the drinks were mid. we tried coming in 1hr-30 min before closing and they told us to leave because they were closed....
google avatar

Alysia M.

Yelp
I love this place! It's the perfect mix of dive bar and upscale feel with live music and great drinks. They're strong and tasty. The staff are awesome and always down to chat with you. Plan this for your next stop!

Sarah A.

Yelp
We LOVE this place! Amado's is awesome and hands-down my favorite bar in the Mission. Having lived in the neighborhood for almost a decade and gone to every local watering hole multiple times, I have to say that it was a really good addition to Valencia Street. Every drink is delicious and the ambiance is packed with personality. My husband and I really like the "Artemus Gordon" for a well-balanced and spirit-forward cocktail (similar to a sazerac). If you prefer something lighter, the Blackberry Gin Fizz is very refreshing. I gotta say: I also really love the bartenders here. During COVID when the usual live music was forced to be minimal, they still kept the feeling going with sidewalk shows, upstairs special-guests in the window, and a solid stream of well-curated tunes. They remember our usual order and sometimes even let us try a new concoction that they've been working on. 2020 had been super weird with so many restaurants and bars closed, and Liz and Gib feel like family to us each time we stop by. They know how to tag-team behind the bar and we always feel taken care of. If you don't have time to linger at a booth inside or in the parklett, it's also the perfect place to grab a to-go beverage and walk along Valencia when the street is closed to cars on weekend evenings or in conjunction with a trip to Dolores Park. Anyway, we've been coming here every single weekend for over a year now and never get tired of it! Thank you, Amados'!
google avatar

Charles A.

Yelp
Stopped in for a beer due to the really unique atmosphere, but ended up staying longer than anticipated due to the staff. They were very attentive and personable. I immediately felt welcome sitting down at the bar. I would absolutely come back her in the future based on the service alone.
google avatar

Ryan K.

Yelp
If you haven't been to this place yet what are you waiting for? There are so many fine details in the decor and a parklet to get lost in. I gotta give it up for Liz the bartender though, her pours are generous and she makes the bar worth coming to. I love a good sassy New York bartender. Everything about this place rocks. I'll be here every week.
google avatar

Livia C.

Yelp
On a whim, headed here from Oakland to miss traffic up going back up to the North Bay. My first effort to put more classical and live chamber music into my life. First, 5 stars for the live entertainment- thoroughly enjoyed the ensembles and piano concert of last evening. They earned the two stars above and more. The negative stars goes to the surly tavern haggard, meth rolling fried bleach blonde bartender last night who after I waited patiently in line, asked if they had a dry white wine and was given a low snarl of, "We aren't a wine bar or anything," and literally spit out with disgust the one type of white wine they had (which was a very good Sauvignon Blanc). I looked behind her and thought ok, "the walls are lined with hundreds of bottles of alcohol and there's no sign that says 'no wine' here." So I asked for her to print a receipt for me after I ordered because I expense cultural activities as a side gig for my work. She nodded then proceeded to serve three more guests while I'm waiting there waiting for it. I say something about 3 minutes in and she muttered something about how she thought I was there to order something again. My face was like, Wow! So you wanted to make me wait there for shits and giggles then. How awesome are you? A lady waiting with me literally said, "You are really kind." In reference to my patience in the face of the bartender's attitude towards me. Mind you all, this wasn't some indie punk show or hip hop rager I'd frequent in the past. It was a quiet evening with polite guests wanting to ingest some Beethoven! So miss bartender wasn't fricked off with stress - we were a civilized line-waiting bunch of chill middle-aged people. Instead I decided to enjoy the music, didn't tip (which is really rare for me not to) and decided to take my true feelings to Yelp. So Liz, whether you're a hired hand or an owner/operator of Amado's, be nice to women please. I have a vast network who care about the places I go and we will be saying sayonara to heading out here ever again to save us the experience of having to deal with your torturous service style. Just be nice to everyone. It will definitely improve the aesthetic you're trying to present to the world. And will help you keep your job.

Razz D.

Yelp
Ambience is nice and there is plenty of room BUT their drinks are not so great. I ordered a "Blackberry Gin Fizz" and my husband ordered a "Kentucky Mule". They are both flat and taste like we are drinking a bunch of syrup. I've had better "crafted" cocktails, vodka/soda/lime, and the price for those were cheaper than what we paid.

Dustin F.

Yelp
Lol I feel better that others on here had the same experience with the bartender. It was similar to a dmv experience only angrier and more expensive...
