Amagat - Review - 20th Arr. - Paris - The Infatuation

"If you want to know where all the chefs and in-the-know Parisians are eating, it’s down an unmarked, uneven cobblestoned alley in the 20th arrondissement at Amagat, which means “hidden” in Catalan. (Just walk alongside the graffiti-covered brick walls, swivel left at the end of the passage, and follow the rumba music.) Order your tapas by picking what you want from the printed-out menu and handing it to your server. They may all come in succession, one after another, leaving little room on the marble countertop for your napkin. But there’s no pressure to eat fast and finish up tout de suite. Pour a glass from your pitcher of strawberry-rhubarb-cherry sangria and stay a while—the sommelier (who otherwise serves only Catalan wines) will take care of you. All the dishes are great, but the signature tennis ball-sized bomba Barceloneta is a standout. It’s a fun scene, and you’ll probably want to continue eating and drinking just to avoid leaving." - Sara Lieberman

Brilliant place! Cuisine is quite creative, classic dishes with a nice twist, all absolutely delicious. Croquette with octopus is remarkable. Great wine selection and recommendations from the sommelière, all were exceptionally good and interesting pairing. Fast service. Very nice staff, really welcoming and knowledgeable

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Wines also great. The food was good, but not exceptional. We ordered quite some dishes to share. All of it came at the same time or very short after the previous dish. This made us enjoy the food less. Spreading it out a bit more would definitely add to the experience! Still had a good night at Amagat though.

Hidden gem in 20th district in Paris. It would be nice sitting outside in summer time. it’s nice inside also. Food was good it’s just little bit oily for certain dishes but overall it was delicious !! If you are looking for a restaurant for night out or a date this is the place.

Wonderful dinner @ Amagat tonight. I read bad reviews & excellent reviews. I was not quite sure about the place. I went expecting a not so pleasant evening, although partner was beyond excited to go. We were greeted by Reuben, our fantastic waiter! Then Victor, the sommelier came over to walk us through the wine list. The manager was on top of things. The young chef works wonders in their open kitchen. Ever single dish was delicious. I truly recommend you get La Caille, Le Tartare de bonite, the croquettas ,…. I will definitely return, soon. The place is gorgeous. It was cold so we ate inside. The only drawback: the smoke from the grill, coming from the open kitchen. The garden is also beautiful & I plan on eating there whenever the weather allows it. I highly recommend Amagat. Hopefully your experience will be as great as ours.

What an experience! From the moment we queued at the gate to the magical garden dining area, we could hear the crew getting prepped and pumped with Viva España blasting on the speakers. The food was outstanding, with a wine list to match. Loved it!

This place is incredible. It’s a hidden gem, don’t understand other reviews. Lia and Juliette were the most incredible hosts. Juliette managed the evening so beautifully and helped a lot for the celebration of my 30th with 30 friends. Lia managed the event beforehand with me and was in contact in weeks leading up. It’s an astonishing place and the food is wonderful. I thank them deeply for one of the best evenings of my life.
