It felt carefully made, and paired nicely with the calming atmosphere of the space. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the overall vibe felt fresh and well-curated. Incredible ice cream out of this world- unique flavors in a cozy setting run by good kind hard working people. We've traveled broadly and not come across ice cream, flavors like this truly "chef's kiss!" Its so rare to find such a gem in this crazy city. The mango ice cream was really nice - creamy like a lassi, not the typical sorbet. $11 is too much for an ice cream cone though, even in NYC. The "double" scoop was like 2/3 chocolate and 1/3 mango. Was disappointed by the proportions because the chocolate tasted like any other chocolate ice cream. Would have liked more mango.

I went to go check out this cute ice cream shop in the Brooklyn Heights area and got a small cappuccino with oat milk and it was quite delicious. Service was super friendly and helpful. The employees were super knowledgeable about the ice cream and flavors . Their ice cream is also homemade and so their flavors rotate pretty often depending on the season. They also have in door seating now! Their ube flavor is amazing. I will definitely be coming back to try more flavors in the future!

Grabbed some affogato after having dinner with my colleagues! It was amazing! Loved it! The espresso was strong and the vanilla ice cream was just perfect.

Delicious smooth homemade ice cream (7-10 flavors) with rotating flavors depending on the season. They allow sampling, have a great ambience, prices are decent and staff is really friendly and considerate. I wanted to have the mango and ube but it wasn't fully set yet, so the owner/ chef went into the storage room and got me the mango and ube ice cream that were solidifying. They were both delicious and confirmed for me that the ice cream is indeed homemade right there. They also sell pints and have soft drinks.

what they lack in decor, they make up in flavor. enjoyed the ice cream scoops of gulab jamun and ube which were rich in flavors. tried the coffee and oreo cookies which were good but not better than what we ended up getting

Weird vibes in this place, but fantastic ice cream. I got a scoop of ube in a cone and loved it. Worth the stop if you're in the dumbo area! 4.5 stars.

I was pleasantly surprised with this ice cream. They don't have it on display so not sure how they make it but it tasted like artisan ice cream, so good! The hot fudge also didn't clump up or harden like other places. Since I went in the winter, service was pretty quick as the shop was empty. They were also knowledgeable on gluten free options, which is much appreciated. The shop is pretty big but there aren't many seats, surprisingly. I think the set up could use some sprucing up so it doesn't look so empty.

Amai Ba is quite pricey for the portion sizes but does have delicious innovative flavors that they do well. My friend had the ube flavor and I had the gulub jamun flavor. I was initially skeptical trying a Desi dessert in ice cream form as it could either be a hit or a miss but this was fortunately a hit. There was a nice amount of cardamom without being overpowering and a decent amount of gulub jamun bits. I'd be back if I was in the area.

The place has nothing much to the decoration, it is more like walk-in/out. The staff is friendly and work fast. The place has couple of tables to enjoy ice cream or beverages. The downside : no bathroom.

Went there for the Gulab Jamun Ice Cream Chai Affogato - known as the Chai-gato. It exceeded every single expectation I had in mind. Not only did they use real masala chai (not the super sweet American one!), but the gulab jamun ice cream was to DIE FOR!! The combo made for the perfect sweet treat that wasn't sickeningly sweet. I would go back over and over and over just for this chaigato. The lady who made it was so kind, and hard at work! She was the only one working on this day, and was a boss. The ambiance itself left something to be desired. There was so much empty space in the shop that could've been filled with tables or cute decor.

I had their gulab jamun ice cream recently & I didn't really think it tasted like gulab jamun flavor at all. Nice & clean inside & comfortable seating though.

For a large corner cafe, Amai Ba has only like two or three tables, which seems like a massive underuse of the space. It's been a little quiet the past few times I visited but to be fair it is no longer summer. The ice cream here, according to a staff member I talked to, is vegan and made with fresh fruits. I'm honestly shocked-- for vegan ice cream, it's incredibly silky and custardy. My favorite flavors so far include their ube (which is their best-selling) and their black sesame, but their fruity flavors are all incredible. A note: they also sell ice cream by the pint and ice cream sandwiches if you're lucky. You're welcome.

Came in here randomly while in the neighborhood and the ube ice cream instantly caught my attention. It was then I decided my stomach deserved it and would say it's some pretty awesome stuff! Great flavor and would come back for it. Sounds like all the ice cream is made in house and flavors change frequently. I would have to take a star down because the ambiance is that of a high school cafeteria. There were 3 tables and even a customer sitting on the floor. Place has great potential assuming they can work on the interior!

Absolutely love their flavors!! Pandan has some coconut in it and German chocolate pecan pie as well. Both of my ice creams are rare flavors, really well balanced with a mix of coconut. Service was fast. There is not many seats for sit down but plenty of room inside. The interior has minimalistic aesthetics!

I've been frequenting Amai Bā for ice cream before work for the past few weeks. As many people have mentioned, their space is extremely under-utilized. There are three tables which seat 2 people each and a huge amount of empty space that could probably fit 2-3 more tables. However, if you just took the counter area on its own, the vibe is that of a bougie coffee shop. I have tried a few of their other flavors, but nothing is as good to me as the ube. It is $5.95 for a single scoop, which I agree is pricey. However, I think this is competitive for homemade ice cream in the city, so I am not docking too many points for price. The ice cream has a nice creamy texture and the ube flavor is sweet. I would like to come back to try their black sesame because I haven't been impressed by any other flavor except ube. Four stars because I like the texture of the ice cream, but the flavor/texture/wow factor is not enough for me to go here if I was not in the area.

Cute little spot! I had seen the chai affogato on Instagram so I wanted to come by and check it out. The actual affogato with Gulab Jaman ice cream is pretty good! as you eat, it kind of takes on different flavors which is pretty interesting. I will say that Amai Ba seems to be more of a coffee shop that has ice cream rather than a true dessert spot. Overall, I think I will be back to try some of their other drinks!

Small shop that sells coffee and ice cream. It would be a cute cafe if there was tables / seating. We stopped by to try their unique ice cream flavors, but they were sold out. I ended up ordering Mango which was not creamy and a little icy. The scoop was small and not worth the $6.

I wanted to like the ice cream but was disappointed with the flavors because I was really looking forward to it. I really wanted to try the pandan so came here one day since they had it on their menu. I decided to also try the ube since I was already here but both the flavors are super mild. The pandan was even more mild than the ube. I barely tasted the pandan and noticed more of the coconut added to it than the pandan itself. The ube was ever so slightly better but still super mild. It felt very opposite of the colors in terms of flavor intensity. I was sad I made the trek here just to be disappointed by both of the flavors. I can't say I would want to come back to try the other flavors out after the first experience. The space itself is pretty big but surprisingly have very few tables for the amount of space they have. I felt like they could have made more use of the space they have there. Aside from ice cream they also serve drinks and some baked goods/pastries. I can't say how the other items on the menu are since I only got the ice cream. Service was ok here, nothing bad but nothing amazing, so it felt neutral. Overall, I feel like there are better options for ice cream if I was completely honest. There are also quite a few spots that has ube ice cream offered and a couple that you can find pandan as well, so I don't think I would go out of my way to for them at this particular spot. The other flavors looked interesting but nothing that screams I should try it.

This was perfectly alright ube ice cream. The ice cream itself had a nice creaminess so their base is good but I would say the flavor was a bit lacking. Unfortunately for $6 even in Brooklyn Heights, it would need to either be really good or be substantially portioned to be worth it. The scoop was small which doesn't help either. New large spot otherwise though it currently lacks tables and I'm unsure if it's because of Covid or something else as there definitely is a lot of room that isn't used. Friendly enough service.

I would suggest not getting coffee here. Extremely burnt. I'd suggest to the owners to invest in better decor and better coffee.

We got a scoop of Ube ice cream and scoop of coffee ice cream, and honestly it tasted like store bought breyers. The ice cream was hard and the scoops were tiny, and most importantly the flavors were underdeveloped, especially considering that a single scoop of ice cream sets you back $6? (2 scoops on a cone is $9) Don't waste your money here. If you're craving ice cream and have $6 to spare I would go to your local grocery store, at least you know what you like and what you're getting. Extremely disappointed, and incredibly overpriced. Not sure what you're paying for.

I really wish they'd spruce up the interior design, because this could be a really nice cafe if it had better seating and wasn't so sparsely decorated. The real gem is the ice cream, some of the best flavors I've ever tasted. Our favorites include strawberry, ube, and matcha. It's a bit pricey but worth it imo.

The mango ice cream here was so fragrant and flavorful -- the best I've had in a while. I also sampled the ube, which was very mild. The best surprise was the gulab jamun, a great interpretation of the dessert.

Hands down the best ice cream I've ever had! I was visiting NYC and exploring Brooklyn and came across this cute corner place. I wanted coffee and my kid wanted ice cream - it was meant to be! After trying a few of the flavors and learning it's all made in-house with real imported fruits, I was blown away and had to get my own. I got the Blueberry Poundcake, Mango, and Pistachio. My son and wife shared the chocolate. We had to get seconds to go - which I rarely do. The latte was also super smooth - unlike that burnt taste of Sbux. What made the experience better was that the owners are so down to earth and showed so much love to my son. It was a homely feeling.

I have to agree with the other reviews saying this space is very underutilized. They could use some additional tables inside as the only 2 were taken. I would also move the ice cream fridge to the front as some people are very visual (myself included) and it helps choosing the flavor. I came here for the ice cream but felt more of a coffee shop vibe. It also smelled like cleaning product in there (love cleanliness but don't appreciate the scent in a food establishment). We got sugar and waffle cones, which were ok but had a weird aftertaste - not sure if they were old but it gave cardboard box vibes. The ice cream itself is very good, great texture. We tried strawberry, vanilla and black forest cake. They were all enjoyable and the vanilla reminded me of my childhood, it was almost like custard. My favorite was strawberry, which was very fresh.

It was so good! I got mint chip and my daughter got ube and cherry blossom. It was extremely good. We are definitely coming back here! I would recommend

Some of the best ice cream I've ever had in NYC, and I am a major ice cream snob! The monkey business (banana/chocolate swirl with macadamia) and peach were both absolutely wonderful. More people need to know about this place.

Words cannot express how gorgeous the Ube ice cream is here. It's stunning in color, texture, and flavor. The stuff of dreams.

One of the best ice creams in NYC! I highly recommend the ube and strawberry flavors. I normally take-out the ice cream as the store has limited seating. The ice cream is fresh, not overly sweet, and has a smooth texture. Do not hesitate to visit!!!!

Everyone working there is so nice, and the ice cream is fresh and creamy and delicious. Seriously, the peach ice cream was one of the best I've ever tried anywhere in my life and I still think about it weekly. Also really love the Ube and I'm excited to try more flavors especially as the seasons change. I pass up other ice cream spots closer to my apartment to come here because it's worth it.

I was genuinely shocked to read some of the reviews. My boyfriend and I recently went and tried the vanilla bean and strawberry flavors. It's some of the best ice cream I've ever had and extremely creamy.
