Amano Cafe

Amano Cafe quickly became my favorite spot in Greenwich Village. Nestled on a charming corner, it offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that's perfect for unwinding or getting some work done. The cafe boasts a stylish yet cozy interior, with exposed brick walls and comfortable seating options, including plush armchairs and a communal table. But the real star of the show is the coffee. Amano Cafe takes their coffee seriously, using high-quality beans and offering a variety of brewing methods. I particularly enjoyed their pour-overs, which were rich and flavorful. They also have a fantastic selection of teas and house-made pastries that are perfect for a sweet treat. The staff at Amano Cafe is another reason I loved this place. They were friendly, attentive, and always happy to answer my questions about the menu or the neighborhood. Whether you're a local resident or just visiting the area, Amano Cafe is a must-try.

*Visit on May 14th, 2024* First time trying Amano’s at Greenwich Village! I have been meaning to pass by before the end of the academic year. As a student in the neighborhood, this coffee shop has been peaking my curiosity. I was aware coming in that the prices of the coffee shop were higher than other coffee shops in the neighborhood. My ministry friends shared that they’d tried a pour over and the price was around $8. That being said, it’s important to be aware of the prices coming in to not be surprised. For a cappuccino, a Cortado, and a banana bread the total was around $19. (Not student budget friendly, but fine for a once in a while treat.) The cappuccino was great! I think they used Devocion beans, and the taste was great. The milk was steamed just right, and I genuinely enjoyed my cappuccino. 🤗 plus, it was obviously cute. (Pic below) The sis said the Cortado was fine as well. So for a once in a while treat, I enjoyed my time and food here. The banana bread would probably be where I found a bit of a shortcoming. It was decent but a bit dry. Lastly, enjoyed the porcelain mugs where the beverages were served at. 😌

one of my favorite favorite cafes in the west village! it’s on the most beautiful classic nyc streets that just makes you feel like you’re in a movie on a warm day. it’s a great spot to work on the weekday (when i usually have luck finding a spot!) and i LOVE the rocket fuel coffee that’s on tap bc it’s with oat milk, shaken, and lightly sweetened. i don’t drink coffee often but if i do, this would be my pick.

Lovely cafe tucked away into a quiet side street right off 6th ave. Great coffee - they sell bags Devoción beans so assuming they also use. Convenient central location but still quiet and easy to get seating. Doesn’t get direct sun, but the big windows were great for taking in the blue skies.

Very cute and modern atmosphere! Amano cafe has been on my list of coffee shops to try. I went with their French vanilla latte. It was amazing! On the sweeter side but I always prefer sweeter drinks. You can tell the employees take their time making the drinks and don’t rush the process. There’s some seating inside and outside, but it is small so there may be a chance all tables are taken. Overall good coffee and good atmosphere!

Cafe on the way, on my Sunday coffee hour and I was glad the Amano Cafe was on the way. Coffee taste good with small potion and trendy customers. There are seats inside and the ambiance was good and warm welcome. Even the barista wasn't able to give me exactly what I want but he still give me a good coffee.

English *is* my first language, though I doubted myself after having to ask for a fork for the third time. Props to their honesty, though - baristas were well within earshot when laughing to each other about how "I didn't understand what he was saying". I've lived in New York for three years, and this is the first time it's happened. Strange. The baristas are immediately kind and understanding if you've got a dog, are white, and don't care about not having listed prices on the menu. Bonus if it's all three! I stayed for another hour to finish my watery drink (against my better judgment). During that time, the baristas' dismissiveness to anyone that didn't look like most people in the cafe was apparent. A brown man came in asking about their food options and they were so condescending to him that entire exchange. For a business that prides itself on progressive, fair-trade policies, you've got a long way to go in every other department. Disappointing since some of the baristas are even POC themselves. If you can't handle diversity, maybe the city isn't right for you.

One of the best cortados I've ever had in NYC here. I'll definitely be back because the coffee was great.
