Amarin Cafe

This has been our go-to Thai spot in Greenpoint for years. The food is delicious...anything with basil is a winner! I usually get chicken with basil or, for a change, pad see ew noodles. You need to get a Thai iced tea, as well. Service and pricing is on-point...if you sit in the window you can people-watch on that stretch of Manhattan Avenue...

This place is good but keep in mind it's cash only! I come here often for takeouts and it's about a 15 minute wait.

I usually love Thai food, but this was so underwhelming. The pad see ew and crispy duck were way too sweet for my taste, and the garlic salt + pepper chicken was so pale and lacked in flavor big time. The chive cake was decent. Many better thai restaurants out there.

Walked in not knowing what to expect. You certainly don't need any reservations. I feel like a lot of people were going in and out for take-out versus eating indoors. No outdoor seating at this place. There is ample seating so they had me choose a table. There is a sign that says in the front CASH ONLY. However, there is another sign that says Venmo, Zelle and Cash accepted. I advise bring some cash. Service was okay. They cleaned the table thoroughly so that was good. Never had to ask for refills or napkins. My friend and I ordered appetizers to start. It was just okay, nothing spectacular. Got the Fresh Spring Rolls in rice paper. It was a bit tasteless, I wouldn't order it again. For entree, I ordered the Garlic and Pepper Chicken that comes with rice. It was a bit tasteless so I had to ask for hot sauce. My friend ordered the Green Curry. I wouldn't come back again as the food wasn't to my liking.

Little hole in the wall right next to Sikorski our favorite Polish meat market in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Amarin dishs up some excellent authentic spicy and hot Thai food. We enjoyed a quick lunch here after our Polish meat shopping spree today. Check out a couple pics that I have attached to get an idea of their dishes. Whole lot of noodles in their dishes but little to no meat and lack of flavor. Wouldn't recommend.

I've lived next to Amarin for the last 5 years and they have been my go-to spot the entire time. There are some other good Thai spots in the hood, but Amarin is just the perfect, clean, consistent, inexpensive, no frills spot. I always get the same, specific takeout order (mild pad Thai with chicken and extra vegetables) and it is always consistently great and exactly how I like it. Every. Single. Time. Not to mention, the same staff has been there for a while and they make a point to remember who you are. So friendly and warm--when my brother, who also lived next door, finally moved out-of-state they gifted him with extra food to show their appreciation. I mean... If that's not the nicest thing you've ever heard, IDK what is. I cannot tell you just how much I love this place. I'll miss them so much once I move. Get the pad Thai and tip them well.

Been coming here for a while and it's really such a reliable Thai spot for a bite. I stick to my classics and they don't disappoint. The spice level can give you a good kick. The service is delightful. I love the team there and everyone is very nice. Show them some support and give it a shot. With outdoor seating there's a few tables to account for people strolling by. Super easy.

This place is a gold mine. I have been going there every month for several yrs. now. Best Thai place I have ever been and inexpensive. Owner is super friendly and professional. My favorite dishes are broad noodle chicken, shrimp or beef, pad Thai, basil chicken/beef etc., a few others too, anything there. It is byob which is a gold mine for me and party. I don't know why the young people who eat there don't byob. It's a mystery to me.

If you are in the area and looking for some delicious thai food- I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. The inside is so homey and comfortable and the staff is so sweet and accommodating. This place definitely gives you bang for your buck- the plates are cheap & delicious. Would definitely recommend some appetizers- try the crab rangoon & the dumplings.

Amarin has been a go to thai place for me for over 7+ years, they only accept cash or zelle, which is fine because it keeps costs lower. The quality of their food has always been amazing, fills you up. Their thai drinks are really good too. Overall, Amarin Cafe, is a simple, yet delicious place. I strongly recommend, the calamari, amarin fried rice and pan-ang curry.

Great spot in Brooklyn for some delicious Thai food! Everything is fresh and tastes delicious. Definitely get the duck dish, it was amazing!

I used to work in the area so this became my go-to lunch spot. Now that I've moved, it's still the best Thai Fried Rice around. I now travel just to eat the Pineapple Fried Rice. Juicy, hot pineapple; lots of cashews and 5 perfectly cooked shrimp. An attentive staff make it well worth the trip. And if I'm up for the big time, I get the Crispy Duck with Mashed Potatoes. So. Good. So friggin' good. I also love that they feature local artists on their walls. It's always interesting and often quite beautiful.

Excellent Thai food. Some of the best masamen curry and pad thai. Not much atmosphere. Worth the trip to Greenpoint. The duck is good also.

Very hospitable and friendly atmosphere. Excellent papaya salad. I was intrigued by their duck dish with mashed potatoes which is not a Thai dish.... but I had to try since I was recently at a French restaurant and had duck confit for twice as much. Well... their take on duck and potatoes is delicious!!! Soooo good!!! I don't live in the area... but I will stop back when I'm in Greenpoint.

This place is an awesome hidden gem in Williamsburg! I came here on a rainy night and my friend and I sat there waiting for other friends for almost 45 minutes, and the staff didn't try to rush us to order (to be fair, it was quite empty). In any case, once we ordered food, it came out quite quickly. I got the pad kee mao with tofu and spicy, and it was really good. There also wasn't too much oil, and there was a good amount of tofu and vegetables. Portions were a bit small, but the flavor was wonderful. I also tried my friend's salmon curry, string beans and chicken, and red curry, and all the flavors were really strong and delicious. I was really impressed by this place, and the prices are super fair too! At $9.95 pre-tax, this is definitely one of the cheapest Thai places I've found. Highly recommend!

Ive lived in Greenpoint for 7 years. This is consistently the best restaurant in the neighborhood. Food and price quality ratio are simply unbeatable. Order the Crispy duck and drunken noodles. Split between 2 ppl. Bring your own beer or wine. Only drawback- cash only. Love the staff!! This place simply kicks ass.

This experience consisted of a take-out order of chicken pad thai and thai basil chicken that I placed on my phone via their website. Decor: the place looks appealing, albeit small. I'd eat in the restaurant if my plans allowed for it. Food: Quite delicious as to both meals, but beware that even the second gradation of "spiciness" - medium was quite spicy. Like, it had me sweating. Of course, that happens pretty easily, but still...take note. The pad Thai had great flavor and no spiciness issues. Overall: Nowhere in placing my order was I advised that the restaurant is CASH ONLY. Luckily, that wasn't an issue or inconvenience, but it certainly could've been. I enjoyed my experience and would certainly order from here again or eat in.

At a glance: this place has a very homey feel to it and all the vegetables and ingredients are fresh. You can see them being prepared around lunchtime. They have been there for such a long time, that my mother used to eat there while she was pregnant with me. Food: Their crispy duck was my favorite before I became vegan. The spring rolls are a delight. When I didn't want something heavy like the duck or with so much fat I get the pad see ew with beef and pineapple. I would come here more often if they had a good hearty vegan meal and maybe an appetizer or a vegan Thai iced tea. Otherwise there's no reason for me to come here anymore I'm not one that likes tofu which they offer, so I genuinely miss this place and that was laying in bed thinking about it and decided to write a review for it. If you haven't been here it's a great place for a very casual date or hanging out with your friend. They also have artwork on the walls which is changed and can be bought.

Best pad Thai I ever had! I had it medium spicy with chicken and it was so flavorful with plenty of fresh bean sprouts! The calamari was delicious and my friends pad see ew was soo good! The only thing I wasn't sold on was the crab rangoon because the portion was so small for the price (6 pieces for $7) and they weren't the best I've had. Still good though and didn't change my opinion if this place. The people that were working were soo nice and that is so important to me when I go out. The place was packed with every table filled on a Sunday afternoon, but they were still so courteous and accommodating to everyone it seemed like. Also it's byob!! Will definitely be back!

First off - I would just like to say that I am Thai, have been eating/cooking thai food all my life and know that the lovely people working here are thai so I encourage you to please ignore any noobs (ie people who dont know thai ice tea is made with milk...eyeroll...) insisting this place isn't authentic. This place makes some of the best thai food I've had compared to living in LA and Thailand. My boyfriend and I have been coming here at least a few times a month for the past 5 years (we used to go weekly when we lived in BK). The service is always very friendly and the food comes out within minutes. We've yet to have a bad experience. Extra extra points for BYOB (no corkage fee!) The portions are large - usually just an entree each is enough to satisfy us. For apps we love the fish cakes, fried calamari and chicken sate for when we come with groups. Our favorite dishes are the noodle dishes (spicy noodles, padthai) and the amarin fried rice. The textures, freshness and balance are always perfect. Like I mentioned before, this place is authentic, so spicy means THAI S P I C Y. We have introduced many of our friends to this spot and many of them swear by other dishes but we'd say their noodle and fried rice dishes are their standout items. We look forward to coming here for many more years to come and have nothing but good things to say about one of our favorite thai spots in the city!

Delicious thai food, great prices, smooth pickup service. all around good time

Some of the best Thai food I've had in years. Me and my partner came back after coming 2 days ago. The food is not only delicious, but affordable, & available in 15 minutes if ordering takeout. My partner got the chicken pad Thai with extra veggies & said the veggies are fresh. I get the broad noodles w/veggie duck & the veggie duck is flavorful! The spring rolls are one of a kind with a thin & crunchy shell. I thought it was cash only but she also takes zelle & Venmo which worked well for us. Highly recommend

One of the worst really bad Thai food. Got Fresh Basel rolls and pad se u and it was bland and mediocre at best. Avoid at all costs. Go somewhere else.

Horrible service and that's pick up, food cold pai tai is bland, have gotten cheap with there portions. Surprised how rude the server is when speaking to the customers. This use to be a good spot so not worth the expensive prices they charge. Go else where not worth it at all!

I've eaten here many times and the food is always consistently yummy, fast and cheep. It's a little spicier then your average Thai place, if you're like me, that's a good thing! I usually get the Pad Thai and the Spicy noodle.

The best Thai food in Greenpoint. Some of the best Thai food I've ever had in NYC. If you love spicy food this place will challenge your taste buds. You can get REALLY spicy meals. I personally go medium spice :) Very friendly staff and fast delivery. Cash only.

OMG, Amarin Cafe was definitely cool. The ambiance is certainly nice. You can order anything and it will be fantastic, I tried Fried Calamari and was very impressed. Team is very friendly and can help you with anything. I definitely see myself returning here in the future.

Solid four stars on food and service- what it lacks in decor it makes up for with the food. A friend from the area took us there last night,and I've gotta say I was a bit skeptical going in- it looks like any other run of the mill Chinese joint when you walk in. It's a trick. It's camouflage. We had too many dishes to remember- there were five of us,so five appetizers and five or six entrées as well as five beverages (soft,but they do allow BYOB). The bill was under $100- for some of the best Thai I've ever had. Parking was ok (muni-meter). I live in The Bronx,and I'd go back there just to go back there- enjoy!

It doesnt look special from the outside, but the food is great and the staff very friendly. The papaya salad is refined and crunchy and the curry spicy!! ( if you ask for it) I will be coming back at least once a month. Thank you Amarin!

The curries are my absolute favorite, spicy and thick, and you can never go wrong with their papaya salad. Just grab a bottle of wine or beer from the corner deli (it's BYOB) and tuck in.

One of the better Thai restaurants in this neighborhood. Service is quick and friendly, and the staff is pretty consistent about asking the level of spiciness you'd like your food. I'm a sucker for shrimp pad thai and pad see ew. Amarin offers good takes on both, for extremely affordable prices (I think that almost everything on the menu is under $10) and with fast service. If you're looking for Thai in Greenpoint, this should be your first stop.

Menu of the evening: Brought our own bottle of wine=awesome dumplings=awesome crab rolls=awesome Spicy noodles with chicken and shripm-medium-spicy=good, only a few shrimps and good portion of noodles but alot of sprouts which eh, kind of just took up space on the plate. Cute little place right in front of the bus stop, i'd eat there again if in the mood for some good Thai, definitely.

Food was great!!! I ordered pad sea ew and my friend ordered pad Thai. We also ordered some steamed dumplings and fresh spring rolls. Food was all very fresh and delicious. The server was friendly and very attentive to us. Will definitely be back! Cash only. The decor seemed to be a bit outdated but the food is worth 5 stars!

Wow. I deeply regret ever getting food here. I got the pad see ew and coconut Tom kha soup. First off, the noodles are drenched in garlic and comes with about 4 small pieces of broccoli and maybe 5 small pieces of chicken. Secondly, the soup was alright. It's not creamy and it doesn't have enough chicken. Please take an extra 2 min to walk to Boon Thai. It's 100% better. Literally take an Uber if u have to. Just don't eat here.

Quality Thai food at excellent prices with great portions! Some friends of mine who only live a few blocks from this place told me it's their go-to Thai restaurant in the neighborhood. I don't blame them because it was seriously good! It's BYOD so my friend got a bottle of white from across the street. We ordered family-style and shared the green papaya salad, fried calamari, duck & mashed potatoes, pad thai chicken, and spinach noodles. All were full of flavor, but each dish had its own unique taste. My favorites were the pad thai chicken and the duck. I loved how the duck was served under a bed of mashed potatoes. Their portions are very generous, too! The servers were nice, brought wine glasses immediately upon seeing our bottle of white, checked frequently to see if we were doing okay, brought out the food really fast, and even refilled our water glasses each time they passed by. I had an excellent experience and will definitely be back when I'm in the neighborhood again!

So good and great prices! I ordered online and picked up. I ordered on my way to the restaurant and it was ready when I got there. I got the Pad Thai and a Thai Iced Tea. Took it to McCaren Park and had a picnic. Excited to try more.

I've been living in this area for 3 months, & have tried this & the two other near-by Thai places. The other 2 were fine, but this one is a cut above. It's the best Thai food I've ever had. I've ordered a bunch of dishes, but my favourite is their Panang. Generous portion of chicken (tho you can get beef or veg, too), & really complex seasoning, with finely diced herbs that gives each spoonful it's own nuance. They serve all their meals with 3 choices of heat. I always choose the spiciest & it is very spicy, so just be warned! The restaurant is always clean & even when they're bustling around serving others & preparing take-out, the staff in the open kitchen work so quietly. The servers are so friendly & refill your water endlessly. Just a really consistent, low key, high quality place.
