Incredible. 😊 The front desk staff were very friendly and courteous. Check in and check out were a breeze. It took us longer to head to our room than it did to check in. Gorgeous lobby. The room itself was really nice for the price. Granted, we did have the fire escape right outside our window. But we just wanted a space to ourselves. Everything was clean and tidy when we got there. The carpet was indeed a bit dated but I expected that. The beds were super comfy. A tiny bit squeaky but not noticeable from the hallway. Overall great!!! I'd 100% spend a full night here. 🙂💜

Stayed here in mid June during the very hot weather. Very nice hotel. Rooms a little tired and could do with a little TLC. Carpet had a few stains although not dirt, more bleach stains where previous cleaned. Had an issue with the toilet which backed up in the early hours of the morning couple of days into our stay and deposited waste all over the bathroom floor which ran into the carpet in the room. Although maintenance came very quickly after reporting it the issue was not fully resolved and happened again on our last night. What was more upsetting was coming back to the room on the first occurrence after being out for a good 10 hours to find housekeeping had not been and clear the mess so walked into human waste on a soaking wet carpet, which even after it was eventually cleaned, remained wet for the remainder of our 6 day stay. No other rooms were apparently available although a single bedded room was temporarily supplied for bathroom use. Other than that the hotel is very comfortable and in a great location. Just far away enough from town to be quiet but easily walkable. There was occasionally a wait for one of the 2 lifts at peak times but this is an old building so not much can be done and it really is a minor inconvenience. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is situated downtown, within walking distance to lake Michigan, some luxury shops, as well as restaurants and even pharmacies. The hotel is old and some of the amenities that you will get an other hotels such as microwave coffee in room, there is none of that. The homes that surround the hotel are like brownstone in New York. Keep in mind this hotel is an older hotel, but elegant. The staff is very helpful. I have to mention Kevin that was working the front desk I was sitting the lobby and as I heard him interact with clients on the phone and in person. He was very professional, and respectful. What I really liked is how he spoke clearly and distinctively, identifying himself and the hotel that they called.

We enjoyed our stay at the Ambassador for our 4 nights in Chicago. The staff were helpful, the hotel was clean, and room was nice. The location was good - just two blocks from the nearest Red Line stop, two blocks from the lake and near dining/coffee/etc. Our one complaint is that the hot water in the bathroom was finicky. A couple of times early in our stay it would temporarily disappear while showering, and then on our last morning when we needed to get going early for our flight, it was only lukewarm and never warmed up, a sad way to end our trip. Otherwise, we would recommend staying here for your next visit!

Felix the head of security was absolutely amazing and made this stay worth it. As someone that had a previous incident for no reason at all it was great to have an experience where the security actually was helpful and made me and my family feel safe and taken care of vs scrutinized. The hotel and amenities were nice and overall a very nice experience all around highly recommend.

Super bummed. My husband and I specifically booked the Terrace Suite - West almost a month in advance as a special anniversary gift to each other. There are two terrace suites at this property. We had admired these suites for a year and finally decided to go for it since it was a special occasion for us. We had an email confirmation naming the Terrace Suite - West as our room as well as a reminder email a couple of weeks later naming the suite.||We paid for overnight childcare, paid for pet sitting, and drove from two states away for our anniversary trip. We were so excited! Literally ten minutes before arriving, we got a call from the front desk to tell us that the Terrace Suite we booked was no longer available and that there was nothing comparable. We were told that another customer was occupying the Terrace Suite - West and would not be checking out until the following day. It was too late to turn around and cancel our weekend. We ended up in a random room (discounted rate, but still had to pay, and we got free breakfast). It was beyond disappointing because we were looking forward to a very different experience. We would have rescheduled to a different weekend to get that suite if we had received any warning. It was the point of the trip. I’m not sure how you can book a terrace suite for a special occasion at this hotel. Luck? Status? Booking weeks in advance and having printed confirmation emails in hand did not work.

Although this historic property has some problems related to age, the front desk team, particularly Shawn, dealt with the various issues with a smile and professionalism. Hot water was a problem on the higher floors, but we were moved to another room. Housekeeping also was eager to ensure our stay was comfortable. Great location.

I love the Ambassador because the staff is so nice, and the location on the Gold Coast of Chicago is convenient to the lakefront and shopping.||It's two blocks to Lake Shore Drive, and about four blocks to the passageway to the beach.||The pre-war hotel is beautiful (see the old lobby in Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest) and the hotel bar is a fun place to have a late dinner or drink after a busy day. ||But it is the Ambassador staff that makes the hotel feel like home-away-from-home for guests. They are warm, friendly and efficient.||I stayed at the Ambassador once for three weeks during a family emergency, and the staff could not have been kinder. Wayne, who is still there, is wonderful--a guy you can count on for any help you might need. Sam, who got my luggage upstairs this trip, is also very nice, with a broad smile and friendly manner. I think Francisco is still there--wrangled my luggage on previous trips, and is very helpful. Sam/Samantha at the front desk was also helpful.||Housekeeping does a good job at the Ambassador.||Sole shortcoming at the Ambassador is that my room did not have an outlet by the head of the bed to easily charge my phone while using it. But there is an outlet nearby, so just bring a long charging cord.||'ll be back at the Ambassador when I next go to visit family and friends in Chicago. It's the best.
