"The dining room incorporates traditional Chinese decorations into a modern, elegant space. An extensive menu ranges from dishes of various regions to creative cookery with the accent on seasonality. Char siu and Peking duck arrive courtesy of the roasting chef, while steamed meat dumplings and soup dumplings are tended by the dim sum chef. Seafood is offered with XO sauce, fermented black beans, chilli sauce or other preparations to suit each guest’s preference—an appealing feature of the menu. Explore the subtlety and depth of Chinese cuisine in all its splendid regional variety." - Michelin Inspector

Fantastic lunch here during our honeymoon. ‘Fine dining’ chinese, with a blend of canto dim sum and several stir fry dishes - great ‘tasting’ menu of sorts. May be polarising for ‘proper’ chinese folk - but I loved the portioned ‘civilised’ method of working our through the meal. Some of the best sui mai I’ve had anywhere in the world! Incredibly attentive staff too - too marks!

Quiet restaurant with a small garden view. Food was okay, not fantastic (Yau May is still better for Dim Sum and duck in my opinion)… However I liked their 菊普 (Chamomile + Pu-Er) tea with a bit of orange peel taste.

We celebrated my son’s birthday in this restaurant. We had the crystal course. From appetizers to dessert, the dishes were superb. We especially liked the crispy pork and the Peking duck. The dessert was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t expect mango pudding and yogurt would work but it did.

Truely a Michelin Star experience, the server was amazing, and they accommodated like no other and the food, I just can’t explain the most perfect food!! Manager made a special visit and I just don’t have words for what’s perfect meal, truely inspirational!! The duck skin roll was life altering for real!! Thank you thank you thank you!!

Tuesday night business dinner for 8 persons. The China/Japan menu is lovely, as was the stylish and relaxed private room. We drank Les Charmes white Burgundy wine (2 bottles). The service was very slow so the meal took almost 3 hours - next time I will request a faster service as guests expect dinners to last c2-hrs, especially on a Tuesday. Experience overall was excellent, as usual from one of Tokyo’s leading hotels. ¥200,000 for 8 people. David W, May 2024

The food was good. I especially liked yamcha, fried rice, dessert and tea. But what made the experience great was their service. They changed menu for my diet on spot (I walked in w/o reservation) and Ms. Tei’s service & hospitality was immaculate!

Every time when in Tokyo, we keep coming back here. There is one simple reason: it’s super tasty! And there’s a more complex reason: it’s high end in every way - ambience, lication, service. It took me 10+ years and many visits to realize that this is our most consistently visted restaurant in Japan! A recommendation: try the Peking duck and xiaolungbao (soup dumplings)

Yelp
I always stay at the Palace Hotel when I come to Tokyo for business and I am so glad that Amber Palace is right there nestled among other spectacular restaurants. As an American, I have only experienced americanized Chinese cuisine which greatly contrasts the softer but firm flavors of Amber Palace's take on Chinese food. I always order the hairy crab at the recommendation of the extremely friendly staff who now remember me. You truly cannot go wrong here, everything that I have ordered has been artfully crafted to please all of the senses. I am grateful for the knowledge that there are dishes beyond General Tso's and sesame chicken in the realm of Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is also located in wonderful space, you can sit in a private booth if you like, but I prefer to sit next to the floor-to-ceiling windows with a great view of the Imperial Palace next door.
