"Tapas with a Pan-Asian twist await diners at this small but stylish Museum District joint. Indulge in Indian fare with the Baadmash wings. Enjoy Japanese flavors with dishes like ponzu Brussels sprouts, or dabble in Korean cuisine with the “papas” umami potatoes plate. Either way, these snack-size platters are perfect complements to larger entrees like the sambal and Gojuchan-glazed ribs or the Szechuan rib-eye." - Sean Hekmat

Ambrosia has a great atmosphere and ambience. The food is top grade. We tried the chicken fried rice and the roasted shrimp and both were very tasty and palatable. The waitress was very friendly and helped us sort through the drinks menu and helped us choose some popular drinks.

The food was decent, however only issue I had was it coming out at different times! My party waited on some of their apps while others had theirs. I wasn’t too impressed with the curry fries, as I expected more cheese and curry seasoning on them. The masala lamb chops were delicious, the cucumber mint sauce and the curry jam added that “OOMFH” too it.

The entire meal was consistently inconsistent, as it seemed like the theme of the night was hit or miss. For our starters, the Baadmash Wings and Keema Wedges were delicious. The wings were one of the highlights of the night, with a perfect crispy texture and solid flavor profile. The Yusheng Salmon Crudo and Ribeye Tataki were unfortunately a little disappointing, however, as both came out a little dry and borderline bland. For the main course, it was a little bit of the same. The flatbreads were pretty decent. The Thai Chicken could’ve used a little more spice, but the bread/crust on both was spot on. The Chicken Fried Rice and Karaage A L’Orange were pretty good options to share, with the Karaage being one of the most unique options of the night (curry flavor was very strong). The best dishes of the night were definitely the Maharaja Shrimp and Japanesian Brussels. Both had flavors that stood out above the rest and left us wanting more. On the other end of the spectrum was the Szechuan Ribeye, which looked great but tasted far short of the same. The steak was barely warm and had little to no flavor. While the food itself was inconsistent, the combination of speed of our meal and overall service helped make for a pretty positive experience.

Long post time! Based off of the suggestion from Bay Area Houston Food Lovers on FB, from my last post we had to stop at Ambrosia in Southwest Houston. It is a block off of 59 south and Shepard Dr, nestled in a neighborhood right off the highway, but don't let that fool you. From the moment we walked up it had the most welcoming atmosphere, so of course we had to take a selfie. Lol. If the weather permits take advantage of their outdoor seating! It was definitely a bit hot today so we went inside to a very visually pleasing atmosphere and friendly staff ready to answer any of our questions. But enough of that let's talk about why you choose to read this. Food time! The Brussel sprouts are ridiculously tasty 😋. From the moment they hit the table, the aroma instantly entices your senses. They have the perfect blend of crisp and sweetness. The freshly shredded Parmesan cheese gives a phenomenal finish to each bite, not overpowering at all. Next, the spicy chicken and waffles! I was looking forward to this one. With the perfect amount of powdered sugar glistening off the top, I had to dive in. Definitely a sweet and savory waffle. Gives my tastebuds memories of the most amazing Seabrook Waffle Company. 🧇 The chicken was a beautiful glow of orange as it sat on the plate begging me to try it. As I cut into the chicken it gives that satisfying crunch. I can only explain it as a light crisp, but not over crisp, taste to it. Definitely an intriguing profile to it. Now the sauce will knock you out of your socks with a sweet but firery taste leaving you wanting more. But you must pair the 2 in a single bite and the pairing will leave you so satisfied. Now, off to the Karaage A L'Orange! This Thai orange curry is demanding I experience what it has to offer, so it is up next. The twice fried chicken is beautiful to cut with a fork, as the crunch gives me happy chills. The orange curry sauce that the chicken is comfortably nestled in has an amazing citrus hint to it without a overpowering, flavor which pairs beautifully with the spicy, but not deadly, Bloody Mary. Now time to wrap it up! I definitely recommend swinging by and experiencing the never before flavors for your taste buds, they will definitely thank you. We loved it all! From the atmosphere, staff and food, I was absolutely pleased to have experienced this suggestion. Can't wait til the next visit on the list of all the amazing suggestions from BAHFL!

Came here for Houston Restaurant Weeks! The service was nice. Everyone was very attentive. The selections on the menu were great! The interior had a lot of cool art on the walls. Samosas were my favorite out of the dishes I ordered.

Service, ambiance, seating, and alcoholic drinks were all top-notch! I was a bit less impressed with the food: for the curry wedges, the curry sauce was in the bottom of the pan, and the fries had not been mixed into the curry so that half of the fries didn't have any curry on them. The curry was also blander than I was expecting, still a decent flavor, but bland. The Gangnam ribs were very tender and incredibly tangy; tangy, because the sauce tasted like ketchup with lots of vinegar and soy sauce in it. It was ok for me, but I suspect others wouldn't find the flavor appealing. And the cheesecake with pandan: very thick and dry, would have appreciated more pandan sauce and no chocolate or caramel sauce. It was an average cheesecake. Let's face it, you're not here for the food, you're here for the drinks. And the drinks are excellent, so have several!

First of all their libations were great! There's a drink called the Shogun and I'd say it's a must try drink!!me and my GF we both absolutely loved that drink. I liked the fact that they have just 2 dessert options and we tried their kulfi and we're glad that we tried it! And and and y'all should try their brussels and papas!!! It's a must! Would definitely love to go there again! Ohhh just forgot this! The ambience is awesome!!! Their decor is great and they I think really good paintings around! A good place for a first date!😉

PRO'S: Ambrosia Restaurant was a first visit for Houston Restaurant Week. We had outstanding table service for the visit. CON'S: Unfortunately average food and not updated online menu items for wine left us unimpressed. SUMMARY: With thousands of dining places to try in Houston we don't expect Ambrosia will be revisited.

Yelp
Some folks might enjoy this spot. I did not. It got very loud in a hurry. Almost virally. One table was louder than others, forcing other customers to pick up their own volume to compensate, and it just got worse. And some folks just screamed. The food was mixed. We went during Restaurant Weeks. The complimentary mimosa was good. Ordered a veggie samosa, got a meat samosa. The Pappas were good. Brussels were okay but not particularly crispy and the karaage tastes like overdone Banquet chicken nuggets. The sauce? Call me crazy, but it despite being an orange sauce, it tasted a ton like Campbell's Tomato Soup. In cooler weather, where sitting outside is viable, the vibe could be different. The service was friendly.

Yelp
Came here for Houston Restaurant week. Ordered from the brunch menu. Got their orange mimosa, which was good. 50/50 orange juice and champagne. Ordered the spicy chicken and waffles and croissants. The chicken was chicken strips with a semi-spicy sweet sauce. The waffle was just 1 small piece and not two full size pieces like other restaurants. It was VERYYYYYY DRY. It was either pre-packaged or stale because it had no crunch to it at all. The syrup had no flavor (99% sure it's cheap corn syrup). The croissants were dry too. Without the drizzled honey, they should throw away the croissants. The waiter said they were in-house made but they didn't taste fresh at all. Ratings: Orange mimosa: 5/5 Spicy chicken and waffles: 2/5 Croissants: 1.5/5 We sat at the corner and there was no air coming through. I had on jeans and I was a little bit sweaty. There are no ceiling fans in sight. They, however, had a portable air conditioner blowing towards the entrance door. The waiter was nice. Service was a bit slow eventhough the restaurant was 80% full inside. The decor was interesting --- the heavy, wide entrance door, the ceiling tiles, black walls, and dim lighting. Would I return back? Nope! Maybe it's just this brunch menu but I was very disappointed. Dry ass food left and right.

Yelp
Came on a Friday at 6:30p and it was pretty empty. The outdoor dining area looked really nice, but it was too humid for that. The staff were all very friendly. The drinks were great! Especially the JADE CLOUD, if you like pandan (actually tasted exactly like pandan). Also was able to try the WHITE COCONUT SANGRIA, which was very refreshing and tasty. Be careful! Their drinks are dangerously easy to drink! I scoured the reviews for this place to narrow down what I wanted to try and found that the brussels sprouts and lamb lollipops seemed to be the only consistently good dishes. The reviews turned out to be pretty accurate, for the most part. JAPANESIAN BRUSSELS: I thought these would turn out like the typical Brussels sprouts dish other restaurants have, but it was actually unique and better imo! I loved that it was saucy! It had great flavor and was my favorite dish of the night! THAI-TALIAN RISOTTO: I only had a few bites of this, but I liked it! It had a nice, rich curry flavor. I dare say you would probably like it even if you're not the biggest fan of curry. Also, the shrimps were large and well-seasoned! MASALA LAMB LOLLIPOPS: I was going to order them medium rare, but the server said they typically cook it medium unless otherwise requested, so I assumed that would be the best cook for it if that's their default, so I said medium was fine. It was not. It was definitely overcooked and well done. To make it worse, they didn't give me anything resembling a steak knife, so I used what looked like a butter knife the table setting came with. Somebody pointed out, after I was done, that I had the least sharp knife at the table lol oh well. I got a major work out carving up those well done lollipops with my butter knife lmao despite all of this, I could tell the lamb was delicious. The texture was just lacking because of the cook. I'd recommend getting it medium rare. I wish I had. TAMARIND SALMON: This dish was a flop. Can't be sure if it was just an off night or if it's always like this, but it was pretty dry, despite the fact that it was supposed to be cooked medium. The person who ordered it said they didn't like the flavor, cook, or really anything about it, unfortunately.

Yelp
The location of this restaurant is where you'd least expect it. It's right off I-59 along the street of a residential neighborhood. The first thing that surprised me that valet parking was the only option. I came on a Friday night and there were only 2 other cars parked (mind you the parking lot was huge). It was kind of ridiculous retrieving my car afterwards since it was less than 10 feet away but I had to wait for the attendant to retrieve it. As for the restaurant's interior, it's extremely dark since the walls are painted black. It makes for a pretty intimate environment for a date night, though. Highly recommend ordering the Jade Cloud! The sake goes down smoothly and the pandan adds a perfect nutty taste. I ordered 2 but probably could have ordered a third one. By far one of the best cocktails I've ever had. The food was just okay in my opinion. I've had their Japanese brussel sprouts before which are absolutely delicious. This time I ordered the Thai-talian risotto. The sauce was way too thick probably because it used a lot of coconut milk. Paired with the egg yolk it made eating it even more thick and I could only eat a quarter of the dish. Overall, the experience wasn't bad. If I was to come back, I'd come back for their drinks.

Yelp
Where do I even start !! The establishment was a real vibe, dim lit lights, the vibe kind of gave off a 19th century vibe if you know what I mean. For graduation I decided to make reservation for me and my family, they put us in our own room and the experience was something I would never forget. The service was great !!!! The waitress was very helpful with everything !! I got the Baadmash Chicken Wings Gangnam and Marsala 4 each which here amazing !! Samosas that come in either chicken, beef or veggie decided to get every Flavor which where all !! Amazing lol !! Curry wedges !! Which where amazing!! Japanesian Brussels which you must try !! As well as the lamb and the salmon !!! Everything about this place screams 5 stars from the establishment to the service to the food !! I will definitely be back and you should also !!

Yelp
I'm not an Ambrosia naysayer and, in fact, highly recommend dinner at this creative Asian fusion spot. This review covers just the weekend brunch, which I found less appealing. The inside of the house-like building is filled with natural light during the day, which causes it to take on the feel of some sort of stone cottage or tiny castle. The service was great and no complaints from that perspective. The Bloody Mary I kicked things off with wasn't my favorite: not sweet or spicy enough to balance the battery-acid like acidity, though fairly stiff. Croissant - 4 mini savory pastries that were just OK, as they weren't the most flakey or buttery. The passion fruit jam served alongside added some flair. Japanesian Brussels - roasted sprouts with a savory-sweet glaze consisting of Japanese ponzu and Indonesian kecap manis (sweet soy). The right flavors were there with the addition of funky parmesan and bitter charred leaves, but the sprouts could have been more tender, and a heavier dose of umami sauce would've helped. Doughnut Holes - these were a bit mealy to the bite, but the fragrant and sweet pandan sauce underneath was wonderful. Mix Mushroom Flatbread - if you like shrooms and garlic, you won't a lot wrong with this flat circular flatbread, which is stacked with both. The whole thing is tied together with some salty cheese and a spongy rather than crunchy naan base. Wasabi Shumai - I was thrown off initially to find that these were deep fried, but they tasted amazing and were probably my favorite brunch starter. Baadmash Wings - these gochujang-spiked, saucy wings were tangy and savory, though not quite as memorable as the evening version. Not sure if there was a different chef running things or the kitchen was just not in form on this afternoon. Spicy Chicken and Waffles - some large chicken strips, fried and lacquered with a tangy and sweet guava-based sauce, served over Belgian waffles with maple syrup. The chicken was juicy but I found myself wishing they packed more legit heat. The waffles were thick and a little gritty, but paired nicely with meat. I enjoyed this plate and would get it again. Brunch wasn't a complete disappointment, but not up to the standard I'm used to from Ambrosia. Not sure I would return for another stab at this particular menu, though I will continue to patronize them for the evening fare and vibe.

Yelp
I loved the decor and different styling of this place which starts from the exterior of the place , loved the door . We came for Father's Day , place was pretty empty in early hours of evening but geared up sooner . We liked their fusion style food and the drinks and entree are interesting. We got appetizers and entrees and everything tasted good . Service was good, would like to come back again .

Yelp
Ambrosia It was Houston Restaurant week and we hit Ambrosia. Their menu carried Indian inspired dishes - some straightforward, and some inventive mix and match intercontinental sorts. It was a decent menu with vegan options and we were a group of six. Drinks Ofcourse were not included as part of the price, nevertheless we got Shere Khan, which was lime, ginger beer, blood orange Lynazul Blanco and more, and the Rangpur Breeze- this one was mine, I was sold the second I read guava as one of the ingredients. For the first course, got the Wanton salad nd and Raman salad. The Raman one had a weird taste, I did double check that there was no fish sauce, but I couldn't help noticing the distinct taste and the smell in that salad, I did NOt like it. But, the wanton salad was really yummy. For the second course it was the vegetable samosa and the Japanese brusels. I got the brusels,it was soo good that I ended up with the samosas thrust on me by my buttering, emotionally blackmailing partner .... the samosas were good too, in fact, our meat loving friends claimed that the vegetable samosa was far better that their non- vegetable ones , but, I am a brusels fan anyday ! Well, I became generous and did my good deed for the day by sacrificing my brusels ...;) The 3rd course was Korean Papas and Thai risotto with egg o the side. While, I preferred the Korean dish, they both were good. Dessert- hmmm- We got the Belgium waffle with sweet kulfi. Waffle was good, ice cream was good but it was Not kulfi as mentioned in the menu. The Chai Chocolate dessert was an even bigger disappointment- the mousse tasted like frozen Hershey's chocolate syrup, with some strawberries on the side. Presentation for the food and the feel of the place was great. It was fun filled and we had our own cave for - not exactly privacy but like our own little corner. Staff was friendly. They have their own dedicated parking too, not huge but big enough. Was the food worth the $300+ tax bill? I wouldn't say that. But, there were some items worth exploring. Would love to go back for certain specific items and Ofcourse the ambiance.

Chijioke N.

Yelp
This place was pretty good honestly, I feel the vibes they were gonna for and they did it well.. all dishes had a twist of Indian in there so if your not a fan of Indian food then don't bother coming... a bit pricey but still delicious.. although I would say the service was underwhelming, it's like they forgot we were there

Yelp
Hands down my husband and I's favorite date nights! I've heard and seen Ambrosia for a couple years now and finally got around to trying it out. 10/10 HIGHLY recommend! The ambiance is very nice, chill and gives a old fashioned spiritual retreat vibe, very hole in the wall meets modern touches. The patio area is fully covered and beautiful. It's a little darker indoors, but it's perfect for a dimly lit date night, very romantic! I ordered the pork and wasabi shumai, it was a fried shumai with ponzu sauce, I believe on the side. I loved it, perfect little bites of yumminess. I love crunchy and crispy things, so that was right up my alley! For drinks, my husband got the New-Fashioned and I got a glass of the Dreamy Tree, recommended by the server for my lamb. Service was quick and highly attentive, we got water refills expeditiously. For entrees, I got the lollipop lamb, real talk THE best lamb I've had in Houston hands down. I got it medium well and it was perfect! Seasoned, tender and the plating sauce and yogurt sauce that came with it was PERFECT with my side of steamed rice! My husband got seasoned waffle fries and the 12 oz ribeye. He thought he would have leftovers, NOPE. Devoured the whole plate $145 well spent! I would gladly spend even more for the quality of service, food and ambiance here! Don't go to a Perry's Steakhouse, come to a local gem like Ambrosia!

Yelp
Love this place They have a nice cozy back room that would be great for a ladies night or bday dinner. Drinks were good and hit the spot. Food was amazing. No wait at all.

Yelp
My 5th stop for Houston Restaurant Weeks, I have no photos of my food because I ravenously scarfed it down before my brain registered to take a photo. Ambrosia offers much to the diner looking for a beautiful environment, an intimate experience, and a great meal. Nested unassumingly in a residential area Ambrosia provides easy parking to its patrons during calmer hours. I went for brunch with friends. Our appetizers were donut holes (read: the fluffiest croissant donut holes with a vanilla pandan sauce), chicken samosas, and scotch deviled eggs. For my main meal I had a spicy chicken sandwich with fries. It was yummy. However, I will likely go back to have something more unique on their menu. I definitely can't recommend this place more highly. Alana our waitress was attentive to our needs and was just kind. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Underwhelming food and inconsistent execution. I really debated whether or not to give this place a 1 star. Would not recommend this place to anyone. I feel misled by the 4-5 star reviews. I don't know if they changed managers or chefs, but as of Aug 7, 2022, this place was bad and not worth the money we paid. Let me proceed to explain how bad. We came here for HRW brunch based on the yummy menu posted online. Before I get into specifics, let me just say you shouldn't call your menu Asian fusion just because you throw ponzu or various sweet sauces on your previously frozen and now reheated food. For apps, we ordered the Brussel sprouts and scotched deviled eggs. I'd give both a 4/5 rating. But when I left, I noticed another table had ordered the same thing, except theirs had bacon. Our order was missing bacon, one of the key ingredients listed on the menu. Note the picture I posted is from the other table, not ours. Keep reading for more on inconsistency and terrible execution. Before we ordered the main dish, we inquired with the waitress as to spiciness level. She said the spicy chicken strip sandwich was pretty spicy but the sweet slaw that comes with it cuts the spice really well. As far as the Thai-talian risotto, she said the chili sauce was just a ring around the edge of the plate. Note that in the pictures, there's no slaw with the sandwich and the chili sauce on the risotto is swirled over the entire thing. Chicken strip sandwich 0/5: the bun was cold and nothing special. It did not come with cucumbers, red onion, or slaw. Only a sad piece of wilted lettuce. The chicken itself was frozen bag quality. Heavily breaded and not good. We noticed the chicken and waffles at another table had the same looking chicken, so I'm guessing it all came out if the same bag. Execution fail as it was missing 3 ingredients. Taste and quality fail as well. Y'all, you can get better quality at the fast food chicken place. Thai-talian risotto 1/5: look I'm not snobby in terms of presentation if it tastes good, but this was underwhelming. It was just 5 sad shrimp on a giant pile of curry rice with swirled hot sauce on top. And unless the bonito flakes were crushed into a powder and mixed in, there were no flakes to be seen. I don't understand when multiple ingredients on the menu don't make it into the plate. Why list them if you're not going to plate them? I left hungry and had to pick up fast food after. As far as service, maybe 3/5. Staff was nice but came off as amateur. Tables that came after us left before because it took a while to get anyone's attention for the check. And how do you not notice something you advertised and claimed as your favorite dish was missing key components. Did I mention the dripping water from the ceiling next to our table that was splashing on us? For the walk-ins that were turned away even though there were only 6 tables seated, consider yourself lucky. You were spared a disappointing meal and experience.

Akhilesh B.

Yelp
This place has a really nice ambiance, great service but okay food. For a weekday, they were not very busy band we did not have to wait. The server was very polite and helpful. They have a limited but good menu with options influenced from different cuisines. I got a Texas bass with mushrooms and it came out well.

Stacy T.

Yelp
We came for the Houston Restaurant Weeks brunch and stayed for the $2 mimosas! The decor is very nice, and they have a very interesting menu. Parking was easy in their lot during brunch time, and reservations were not required at that time. All of the food was good, and everyone in my group liked their dishes. The table favorite was the brussel sprouts. I had the chicken and waffles, which were a good balance between the dense, sweet waffle. While all the food was GOOD, nothing was really outstanding. I would return for the $2 mimosas alone, though!

Steven E.

Yelp
Came on a Thursday around 6:30, not busy at all. The inside is nice and not too small. They say they're a "tapas fusion" restaurant, but the portions are slightly larger than regular tapas. Texas style tapas you could call it. Our server was nice and attentive, even as she was making drinks behind the bar. The drinks were good and VERY easy to drink, gotta be careful. We ordered the samosas and ribeye tataki to start. Both were excellent. My wife ordered the Thai-Talian risotto and that alone would make me want to come back. I ordered the lamp lollipops medium-rare. Sadly they came out well done and charred on the outside. They re-fired them, but they came out not even bleu - charred on the outside and raw in the middle. I was bummed since I was looking forward to them, but I substituted the karaage a l'orange with a side of rice. This didn't disappoint. Despite the lollipops, I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant out.

Courtney K.

Yelp
The skinny: food has good flavor, portions are kind of small, not great for large groups, drinks and Brussels are a must get! Came to Ambrosia for a group dinner, which honestly may have been a mistake. The ambiance is very cute, but not a great spot for groups. However! I would definitely recommend it for a cute date night, or a spot to grab drinks if you're looking for an environment where you can get decent service, fresh cocktails and small bites. Personally I thought the portions were small, and everything is a la carte which was a slight annoyance but the food was good. We had the pork chops, Karaage a la orange chicken, Brussels sprouts, white rice and multiple cocktails.

Jen L.

Yelp
The label on Yelp is a bit misleading as this isn't really a tapas / small plates place. I'd say they do have some snacks and you could do family style. It's more focused on entrees. Came on Saturday night around prime time and the place was pretty empty. It didn't really fill up that much either as we ate. I do have to give it some points for the decor / ambiance but was disappointed to find out that it was valet service only! $5 for parking so just be prepared for that. The server was also great and nice so give them some extra points but looks like he was also the bartender. Now on food. We weren't super hungry for a group for 5 so did some food to share. We went with gangnam wings, Japanese Brussel sprouts, Thai flatbread and salmon. The only good dish was the Brussel sprouts which came with heavy sweet, soy sauce. The wings were good but they came out cold! Like they had been sitting out a while or just been reheated, which was weird because the dish came out super fast. The Thai pizza was super disappointing. It has the flavor of Thai curry but was still somehow very bland. It also looked and tasted like a pizza you get during school lunches. It wasn't like a flatbread at all and was supposed to been on naan bread, but you couldn't tell at all. The salmon we got came on this squash purée and bokchoy. The sides were okay and the salmon was fine, a little dry but overall tasted so-so.

J W.

Yelp
Came for Houston restaurant week and I have to say, I'm disappointed. The food is way overpriced. Even with it being restaurant week. The ramen salad is literally maruchen crumbled uncooked ramen mixed with cole slaw. The vegetarian samosa and the Brussels sprouts are good, which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 0. My boyfriend got the Szechuan rib eye and it was very dry. He ordered medium rare for context. The sauce that came with the steak did not pair well. Spicy/ sour sauce that felt misplaced. Nothing was seasoned. The cheesecake egg roll tasted worse than a home made toaster strudel. The chai chocolate mint pot de creme was literally a cup of chocolate icing. Would not recommend. The service wasn't that great either. I think we saw our server to order and then when we asked for the check. The drinks tasted like poorly made bar drinks. Don't waste your time or money.

Lavinia D.

Yelp
What an amazing cozy spot. Beautiful vibes! Delicious food and cocktails. The owner put so much care and attention into serving you and it really shines through in all the flavors. Can't recommend this place enough!

Yelp
After seeing all the reviews on Yelp and checking out their menu ahead, I was excited to check this place out. I was planning on a fantastic review, but unfortunately, the experience was overwhelmingly disappointing. I want to be honest with you guys - no Bueno. First, the restaurant's ambiance seemed relaxed, but when you enter, it appears run-down. The bathroom was dirty, and our seat was covered in duct tape. On the positive, the one server working was friendly (hence, I am giving them two stars instead of 1). My husband and I decided to stay despite our initial impressions and give the HRW menu a try the HRW menu. I got the Japanese calamari, the beef samosas, the Szechuan steak, and fried cheesecake egg rolls. All sound delicious, right? Wrong. Literally, the only item I got that was edible was the beef samosa which tasted more like a burger egg-roll (not much spice or seasoning at all). The calamari had a terrible texture and tasted similar to gouda cheese. It was also way over-sauced to the point that I got nauseated eating it (sorry to be TMI). The steak was overcooked and doused in a sweet, spicy Szechuan sauce that was likely store-bought. The best part of that dish was the umami potatoes (you can't go wrong with seasoned fried potatoes). Dessert was one of the worst parts, AND I love dessert! Sadly, I couldn't stomach it. The egg rolls were stale, and the center was not cheesecake. It was more like a spongey, gelatinous (almost more mochi-like) consistency. Not tasty either. Moving on to my husband's dishes. He ordered the ramen noodle salad, pork belly shu mai, shrimp risotto, and the coconut waffle dessert. The ramen noodle salad was coleslaw with sprinkled raw cup noodles on top. Absolutely, not what the menu described. Sadly, he said this was the best-tasting item he got...on to his shu mai - these were terrible. Awful. The shrimp risotto dish was alright. I liked the egg on top, and the flavor was overall ok. However, they drench it in siracha. So unless you want 1/3rd cup of siracha on top or like things very spicy, do not get this. The waffle and coconut ice cream were so-so. However, we both think the entire dessert consisted of store-bought items - so not fresh, and nothing special. Overall, I will not be returning based off this experience. The food was just not good, and definitely not worth the $55 per person we paid. Thank goodness part of our proceeds went to charity - makes me feel better for sticking it out.

Yelp
My wife and I discovered Ambrosia completely by happenstance and we are glad we did! The atmosphere is fantastic and the service is top notch. However, the food was not top notch nor fantastic, these words are like spitting in the face of divinity. THE FOOD IS ASTONISHING, STUPENDOUS, THRILLING & just down right good! Highly recommend the Japanese Brussels, Texas Bass N Shrooms and Gangnam Ribs. We have already gone back once with a friend and it was just as amazing. Go check this place out, great date night location!

Yelp
This is a romantic restaurant. It's a vibe! They have a small parking lot Most dishes are to be shared and order Al La Carte . Asia and Eastern Asia fusion (my fav) They have a private room for dinner party's . I took my husband here for a birthday dinner . They let me bring an outside cake and brought out plates , forks and a knife for us to cut and eat the cake. Food is very flavorful Staff are very attentive

Yelp
Came here for HRW brunch & was pretty disappointed! - Plenty of parking in the adjacent lot - Gorgeous exterior with cute outdoor seating; very cool door perfect for photo-opps! - Ordered ceviche which was crazy small portions but quite fresh. Fish was citrusy & yummy. Would order again. Brussels were also good. - Chicken strip sandwich with gangnam sauce was very disappointing. The chicken strips tasted like something you could get at H-E-B or a regular deli in a supermarket; the bun tasted cheap and the fries weren't spectacular. I felt like I could easily make this at home. Only perk was the free mimosa that came with the meal. Otherwise, Ambrosia was a restaurant I was looking forward to most during HRW but it was definitely disappointing! An additional star for our waitress, who was very sweet and often checked in on us. I would not return for the food.

Yelp
Food was good. Cocktails were not. Cute spot. Probably won't go again. But good for one time experience.

Yelp
Upon entrance, the restaurant captivates your attention with a subtle outside appearance contrasting a beautiful interior. The decorations are absolutely stunning and were well-thought through. Aside from the brussel sprouts and lamp chops, the food was quite mediocre. The pork chops were rather unpleasant and hard; the seasoning was not enjoyable either. I could say the same about the salmon and shrimp. If you decide to dine here, I would advise you not to order those dishes. The service was decent, but their food was a disappointment.

Yelp
Alright, we'll just cut to the chase. Ambience is a vibe, service was pleasant, but the food was.. slightly underwhelming. We had the lamb lollipops, brusselsprouts, and umami potatoes. Lamb lollipops were decent although the sauce on the plate seemed to be more like a hot sauce blend and the dipping sauce seemed be to like a watered-down ranch. The lambs themselves were a treat, just the sauces weren't up to par. The Brusselsprouts were nice and had a little char on it to give the more earthy, "over the fire", taste. Umami potatoes just tastes like slightly season potatoes, not the umami explosion of flavor I was hoping for. The jade pandan drink was a vibe and a half imo. That alone pulled it up to a 4 haha. Cheers y'all.

Yelp
My friend and I had dinner here prior to a Rockets game. Our waitress was so sweet and provided great service. We arrived right when they opened so it was very quiet with dim lighting. Our meals were both very delicious and the drinks were 10/10 - strong but flavorful. Overall, this was a great place and will definitely be returning!

Yelp
I was quite disappointed in my visit today. I came in for brunch on a Saturday and we were the only ones there. That should of been a sign to me form the get go. The best thing I ate there were the Brussels sprouts. The ready were very under seasoned and bland. Also very expensive for what you get.

Yelp
The food here was amazing! We tried a lot of different dishes and ALLLLL of them were amazing! Steak was amazing Crab rice so good Brussels sprouts delish We will def be back Service was great as well Cute place like you wouldn't think this place was here ... I would drive right by it had I not known where I was going

Tutti S.

Yelp
Cute little spot. Just know it may be easy to drive right past... kinda hard to see the name on the sign during the day, but worth the effort to log cassette it. Delish food, yummy mixed drinks and awesome service!

Yelp
This is a lovely, intimate spot for a date night. The vibe is chill and the food is excellent. Don't let the smaller food and drink menu surprise you, everything is expertly chosen and the Asian fusion is done well. Highly recommend the Wasabi Shumai! And the house wine was good, too.

Yelp
Food is tasty, wonderful service and the ambiance is enjoyable.Tiger Prawns is delicious!

Yelp
I was unsure if I wanted to give this place a 1 or a 2/5. Decided on 2 because food was edible and the only thing that saved the score was the brussel sprouts. I came here with Jaylynn during HRW last week so you may use her pictures below as reference. This place is not worth even worth $39 let alone the $55 price tag for HRW. Per the waiter, the restaurant's cuisine is supposed to be multicultural fusion or something. Let me tell you I would call this more along the lines of "multicultural INSPIRED" because it's a disgrace to call something Japanese/Thai/Korean/Indian and it tastes nowhere near said cuisine. 1/5 Ramen Noodle Salad. This was literally crushed up packaged noodles that were sprinkled on a "salad" that tasted like coleslaw. It's even worse than Cane's watery coleslaw. 2/5 Japanese Calamari Salad. The "fresh squid" tasted more like imitation crab/lobster than actual squid. The sauce was good but underwhelming. I didn't taste the sesame oil at all. I don't even remember seeing mushroom in this dish, but it could be my memory messing with me. However, I was looking through other people's yelp pictures and I don't see mushrooms anywhere. 2/5 Vegetarian Samosas. Breading was dry and hard.. tasted like old oil. Not enough stuffing inside. Stuffing flavor was good, but underwhelming. It tasted like something I tried to make from a Youtube recipe and failed at. 5/5 Japanese Brussel sprouts!! THE BEST thing at this restaurant. If you've ever had Peli Peli's brussel sprouts, this tastes identical if not better! I would only order this dish from this restaurant and nothing else!! I never had any Japanese brussel sprouts that tasted this flavorful so I'm not sure if this is truly Japanese.. but hey, get it. 1/5 Szechuan Ribeye. We ordered it medium-rare and it came out well done. Very under seasoned, no szechuan flavor at all. Potatoes tasted like regular over-roasted potatoes I can make myself. Nothing special about the potatoes.. just tasted like basic olive oil/salt/pepper, and a dash of cayenne. 2/5 for their drinks. I had the waiter surprise me for the drink so I don't know what I got. Surprisingly, it was the best one out of the 4 drinks we had. My drink tasted like something simple you could get at a regular bar.. alcohol (probably vodka) + syrup. One of the drink tasted like jalepeno infused water.. LITERALLY. The other two lacked favor and tasted bland. Hard pass on the drinks. 1/5 Cheesecake Egg Roll. The inside tasted like crystalized ice cream. The wrapping outside tasted and had texture like the samosas we had above without the savoriness. Old oil flavor on the wrapping. No vanilla flavor or sweetness at all in this dish. 3/5 Chai Chocolate Mint Pot De Creme. I was the only one of four people who kind of liked this. The other three people complained it tasted like straight up Betty Crocker's chocolate frosting. I agree the consistency and taste was similar, however, it did not have an artificial taste. I would not be able to eat this by myself because it was very sweet. To each their own. In all, I will never come back to dine. I would only to-go the brussel sprouts because Peli Peli closed down in Houston last year. It's unfortunate that the staff are nice, but the food could use a LOT of work. Not sure where all of the positive reviews are coming from, but definitely one of three worst restaurants I've been to based on taste alone.

Yelp
Went here with my husband a while ago. I felt it was more hype than substance. Cool ambiemce...sure. but the food was not flavorful. Yes, it's a tad pricey but that's expected. Wouldn't have been an issue of the food was actually tasty. Final grade: C Likely won't return on my own accord

Yelp
The staff was amazing it was a great ambiance and the food was really tasty great first date spot will definitely be going again

Yelp
This place definitely a gem in the city. Its off the beaten path nestled on a residential street with another restaurant. They have beautiful ambiance so its great for a date night. If its so great why not 5 stars? Their outside dining space was closed. I was really looking forward to eating out there and it broke my heart as I was there for my Birthday. On to the food: We ordered the Masala Lamb, Brussel Sprouts and Herb potatoes. I got a chance to read the reviews and it was definitely what we expected. Great food!!! The manager was there she our waitress. The food came out fast, hot, and full of flavor. Btw we were greeted immediately upon entry which I love. GREET EVERY GUEST AS THEY COME IN. (Somebody) Anyhow LAMB: normal size chops cooked to perfection. That red sauce is iiitttttttttt ( omg) now they do bring another sauce too but uhh IGNORE IT its nothing compared to the red sauce. HERB POTATOES: Yes yes and yes delicious by themselves but we even dipped them in the red sauce .. RED SAUCE Wins again. BRUSSEL SPROUTS: Amazing!!! Great char and seasoning. Dont worry about whats on them just know They Are very tasty. Most things are A la Carte but not as expensive as a Del Friscos or Vic and Anthony. This place Instantly a Favorite for Me.

Yelp
We were looking for a new happy hour place to try and we found Ambrosia - this place doesn't disappoint ! We ordered a couple of appetizers to share along with two cocktails - a white and red sangria which were also part of the happy hour menu for $8. They had an Asian Fusion inspired menu with great selections, we ordered: 1) Ribeye Tataki - Highly recommend it was cooked perfectly and the pickled pear was my favourite 2) Samosas - Came out hot and was seasoned well, weren't too heavy which we liked 3) Mixed Mushroom Flatbread - This one was probably our least favourite only because there was a bit too much cheese for our liking but the mushrooms itself were tasty on the Naan flatbread 4) Karaage a L'orange - A MUST TRY ! Easily our favourite app of the night the orange curry was bold and we even started dipping our flatbread in the sauce We'll definitely be coming back !

Yelp
I ate a Ambrosia a few weeks ago and the creativity and attention to detail of the food is amazing. It was beautiful inside with all the ambiance perfect for a engagement proposal hot spot or a nice date out on the town type of restaurant. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
We dined here for HRW brunch, cute little place, old house turned into a restaurant. Has a really old woody smell to it when you first walk in. Service was good, they were very attentive. We made reservations and was sat immediately. We were offered a mimosa that was served with HRW. We all got HRW, I ordered the fried deviled eggs and spicy chicken and waffles. I love deviled eggs but I didn't care for these too much. Interesting concept but it didn't work for me. The chicken had good flavor but the batter was a bit heavy. The waffle had the consistency of a dense donut. Good flavor again though. Honestly the star of this place in my opinion was the drinks. My first ordered drink after the mimosa was a Thai kiss. It was sparkling wine with a ginger liqueur, it was good and the second drink was a boba bomb which was a tequila drink with blue caraco and boba. Super fun drink. My boyfriend and son both ordered the same thing, the croissants and the classic breakfast. The croissants were good. Small parking lot, small patio and the outdoor couches looked like they might not be very comfy as there were big indentions.

Yelp
Amazing decor. Delicious libations and food. Incredible service. A true hidden gem. I highly recommend the ceviche and Korean potato appetizer.

Yelp
I have to say this place absolutely blew my mind. Went with the family and we got a bunch of appetizers and enjoyed ourselves big time. I want to go back next time I come visit my family. Customer service was great as well. Brussel sprouts I have to rate them top 3 ever. Ribs, rice, wings amongst other dishes were 5 star. Inside the place was very elegant and gave a feel Good vibe!! Highly recommended! I know we'll be back!

Yelp
The entire meal was consistently inconsistent, as it seemed like the theme of the night was hit or miss. For our starters, the Baadmash Wings and Keema Wedges were delicious. The wings were one of the highlights of the night, with a perfect crispy texture and solid flavor profile. The Yusheng Salmon Crudo and Ribeye Tataki were unfortunately a little disappointing, however, as both came out a little dry and borderline bland. For the main course, it was a little bit of the same. The flatbreads were pretty decent. The Thai Chicken could've used a little more spice, but the bread/crust on both was spot on. The Chicken Fried Rice and Karaage A L'Orange were pretty good options to share, with the Karaage being one of the most unique options of the night (curry flavor was very strong).

Yelp
Came here for restaurant week menu late, near closing. Our server was really sweet and allowed us to have a full dining experience without being rushed. I would give the food a 3/5 overall. The ambiance is really wonderful. It's a great intimate atmosphere. - wonton salad 3/5, pretty basic - Brussels 4/5, loved the sauce and a great crunch - steak, 3.5/5, ribeye was fatty and thin but flavorful - salmon, 5/5, amazing - cheesecake, 3/5 - nothing exciting and probably not house made - chai mousse 2/5, no chai taste

Atul P.

Yelp
Very dull place and the food was mediocre. The staff was nice but the place did not excite us at all

Javier V.

Yelp
First time here. All our food selections were so delicious. The masala lamb lollipops are an absolute must!!! Don't bother with the fork and knife. Just grab them from the bone and enjoy. The Korean Papas were a pleasant surprise. The sauce was so good I wanted to lick it off the plate.

Yelp
dinner Watch your GPS - it may take you across the street. Nice cozy space steeped in dark Asian decor. Good variety of items on the HH menu at a great price. Interesting Asian fusion dishes. A nice spot for a date or GNO. Private parking lot.

Shaili B.

Yelp
As a vegetarian, I think Ambrosia is a bit overrated. The ambience is dim light, definitely romantic, however the vegetarian options are not great. I ordered the mini mixed mushroom flatbread which was very plain and I did not enjoy at all. Just for one flatbread the bill was expensive. I will say, if you are not vegetarian and want a nice candle lit dinner, this is probably a place to try. The food is limited for vegetarians and it seems the menu is rotating, so this might change. It's also important to know parking is a struggle. Street parking is your best bet but be careful with the parking signs. I believe the lot is only for valet.

Jodie Q.

Yelp
This is a great date night restaurant, after work for drinks and bites restaurant, or I just want some great food restaurant. Drinks are awesome and food never disappoints. My foodies group really enjoyed it.

Shazia M.

Yelp
Not impressed with the food at all. Had the lamb lollipops, samosa, wings, ribeye, and a bunch of appetizers and nothing was remarkable. We have had better versions of all those elsewhere. It was also pretty pricey for what you were getting. The quantity was also small.
